Set the profile up
- Switch to a professional accountA business or creator account gives you insights, contact buttons and the ability to run ads.
- Name and handleThe name field is searchable, so use your business name plus what you are: “Sunrise Diner | Breakfast & Lunch.” Keep the handle close to your business name.
- BioWhat you are, where, and one line that’s yours. Hours if they’re simple.
- Contact and action buttonsCall, directions and, where available, book or order buttons.
- One link that worksYour website, or a page on it listing your main links. Avoid generic link pages that send people away from your own site.
- HighlightsMenu, hours, events, reviews, how to find you. These are what new visitors tap.
Post so people visit
- Tag your location on every post, and tag the town.
- Show what’s happening now. Stories are where “tonight” and “today only” live.
- Reply to comments and messages quickly. A message asking if you’re open is a customer.
- Collaborate with nearby businesses and local creators on posts, so both audiences see them.
- Reshare customers who tag you, with permission.
Keep the account safe
- Two-step sign-in on the account and on the email tied to it.
- Give staff and agencies their own access through Meta’s business tools rather than the password.
- Ignore messages saying your account will be disabled for copyright unless you log in through a link. That’s the most common Instagram phishing.
