Cybersecurity assessment and website security audit, Myrtle Beach, SC

Everything a stranger can see, written down before they find it.

A security assessment is the step before monitoring and well short of a penetration test: we look at your business from the outside the way an attacker's tools do, and hand you a written report of every finding, how serious it is, and the fix. In our October 2026 audits of Grand Strand businesses, 30 of 33 sites were missing standard browser protections, 29 of 33 let anyone forge their email, and 12 of 23 WordPress sites ran a plugin with a published flaw.

What we look at

The whole outside of your business, not just the home page.

Website and server

The protective headers, the certificate, the software and server versions the site announces and whether they still get security fixes, and files that should never be public: backups, configuration files, old installers.

Server version check →

WordPress, Wix and the rest

Plugin and theme versions checked against published flaws, login names the site hands out, open admin and API routes, and store data feeds that give away more than they should.

Plugin check →

Domain and DNS

Who the domain is registered to, when it expires, whether it's locked, and whether any record points at something you no longer control.

Domain check →

Email

SPF, DKIM and DMARC read and tested, look-alike domains that already exist, and whether a forged invoice from your address would be delivered.

Email security →

Forms and customer data

What your forms collect, whether it travels and is stored safely, and whether the site has the privacy policy its own forms require.

A report you can act on

Every finding with its severity, the evidence, and the fix in plain English, ordered by what to do first. The technical detail is attached for whoever does the work, us or anyone else.

Assessment or pen test?

Look first. Then decide if you need more.

An assessment looks at everything that faces the internet without trying to break in. That finds most of what goes wrong at a small business, because most of it is left open, not broken into. A penetration test goes further: inside a scope you sign, we actively try to get in. Practices with client data, stores taking payments and anyone with a compliance question usually need the test once a year; everyone else should start here.

We only look at what you own or have the right to authorize, and we say in writing what we will and won't touch. Nothing is attacked, slowed down or changed during an assessment.

The automated check on this page is free and runs part of the same sweep in a few seconds. A full written assessment is quoted before we start. If you then want us to fix what we found, fixes start at $450, and monitoring and protection keeps it fixed. Questions: 843-331-6339.

Questions

Straight answers.

What's the difference between a security assessment and a penetration test?

An assessment finds and documents weaknesses from the outside without exploiting them. A penetration test, done only with your written permission and a signed scope, actively tries to use them to get in, which shows how far an attacker could actually get.

Is this the same as a vulnerability scan?

A scan is one part of it. Automated tools miss context, like a form collecting Social Security numbers with no privacy policy, or a domain registered to a former employee. A person reads every result and checks it before it goes in the report.

Will the assessment slow down or break our site?

No. Everything we do is what any visitor or search engine can already see. Nothing is attacked or changed.

Can you assess a site you didn't build?

Yes. Most of the sites we assess were built by someone else, on WordPress, Wix, Squarespace or custom code. You'll need to own the site or have the owner's written OK.

What does it cost?

The automated check is free. A full written assessment is quoted in writing before anything starts, based on how many sites, domains and systems are involved. Fixes start at $450.
