Oct 27, 2026When logging in to a Matrix account, Thunderbird used the homeserver address provided in the server's login response without validating it.CVE-2026-118180 · Computers, phones & browsers · Mozilla · reported by security@mozilla.org
When logging in to a Matrix account, Thunderbird used the homeserver address provided in the server's login response without validating it. A malicious or compromised homeserver could provide a file: URL, causing Thunderbird to send all further Matrix requests of that session to local files or, on Windows, to an attacker-controlled network share, which could leak the user's NTLM credentials. The NTLM credential leak only affects Thunderbird on Windows. Other operating systems are unaffected. This vulnerability was fixed in Thunderbird 159 and Thunderbird 153.6.

Sep 25, 2026OpenClaw channel plugins (@openclaw/msteams, @openclaw/feishu, @openclaw/matrix, and @openclaw/googlechat) before 2026.8.1 do not enforce the configured channelCVE-2026-100582 · Other software · openclaw · reported by VulnCheckHigh 7.1
OpenClaw channel plugins (@openclaw/msteams, @openclaw/feishu, @openclaw/matrix, and @openclaw/googlechat) before 2026.8.1 do not enforce the configured channel read allowlist for caller-supplied explicit read targets in message, reaction, pin, member, and related metadata read actions. A lower-trust sender or a steered agent with access to a channel read action can therefore retrieve content or metadata from channels or rooms excluded by the operator's read policy; the practical impact depends on the permissions held by the connected bot account. Browsertrix is a high-fidelity, browser-based crawling service for web archiving that can be self-hosted or used through Webrecorder's hosted instance. From 1.15.0 until 1.22.8, Browsertrix improperly sanitizes Git URLs specified as Custom Behaviors, allowing command injection through /api/orgs/*/crawlconfigs/validate/custom-behavior. A user with crawler or administrator permission on the specific instance can supply a crafted Git URL that executes arbitrary operating-system commands in the backend pod. Open registration or hosted free-trial access can make the required role broadly obtainable. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/vfio-ap: Fix missing lock required to access list of ap_matrix_mdev objects In order to traverse or add/remove ap_matrix_mdev objects in the matrix_dev->mdev_list, the matrix_dev->guests_lock mutex must be held. There are two functions that access the list without holding the mutex: vfio_ap_mdev_probe function ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The vfio_ap_mdev_probe function uses the matrix_dev->mdevs_lock mutex to guard the add of a newly created ap_matrix_mdev object to the matrix_dev->mdev_list. This mutex does not protect list access; its purpose is to guard against concurrent access to fields contained in an ap_matrix_mdev object. This could lead to kernel memory corruption or use-after-free if another mdev is created or removed concurrently. The adding of an ap_matrix_mdev object to matrix_dev->mdev_list is now guarded by the matrix_dev->guests_lock which is the correct way to protect against concurrent mdev_list access. Also removed the following two lines of code because the matrix_mdev is allocated via vfio_alloc_device macro which uses kzalloc, so req_trigger and cfg_chg_trigger are already zero-initi

Sep 11, 2026matrix-sdk-crypto is a no-network-IO implementation of a state machine that handles end-to-end encryption for Matrix clients.CVE-2026-45056 · Other software · matrix-org · reported by GitHubMedium 6.9
matrix-sdk-crypto is a no-network-IO implementation of a state machine that handles end-to-end encryption for Matrix clients. Starting in version 0.12.0 and prior to version 0.17.0, the matrix-sdk-crypto crate was missing a check for the user ID when decrypting an Olm-encrypted event containing the `sender_device_keys` property. This could be exploited to forge an encrypted to-device event, but only if the attacker colludes with the homeserver operator. This issue is fixed in matrix-sdk-crypto 0.17.0. Sep 11, 2026matrix-sdk-ui provides GUI-centric utilities on top of matrix-rust-sdk.CVE-2026-45057 · Other software · matrix-org · reported by GitHubMedium 4.9
matrix-sdk-ui provides GUI-centric utilities on top of matrix-rust-sdk. The message edit validation logic in the `matrix-sdk-ui` crate prior to 0.17.0 is missing a check: when replacing an encrypted event, the replacement event itself is not required to be encrypted. This enables a malicious homeserver administrators (or actors with equivalent power) to impersonate or spoof messages as if they were sent by a victim user. `matrix-sdk-ui` 0.17.0 fixes the message edit validation logic to align with the algorithm for replacement events[^1] described in the Matrix specification. No known workarounds are available.

Aug 21, 2026Element Web is a Matrix web client built using the Matrix React SDK.CVE-2026-55850 · Other software · element-hq · reported by GitHubMedium 5.3
Element Web is a Matrix web client built using the Matrix React SDK. Prior to 1.12.22, EmbeddedPage in apps/web/src/components/structures/EmbeddedPage.tsx renders homeserver-supplied homepage content through dangerouslySetInnerHTML without passing it through sanitizedHtmlNode. A malicious homeserver can provide crafted HTML that Element Web renders on the homepage; the content security policy prevents JavaScript but not phishing HTML. This issue is fixed in version 1.12.22.

Aug 18, 2026Trix is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get rich text editor for everyday writing.CVE-2026-73426 · Other software · basecamp · reported by GitHubMedium 4.6
Trix is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get rich text editor for everyday writing. Prior to 2.1.17, Trix is vulnerable to cross-site scripting when a data-trix-serialized-attributes attribute bypasses the DOMPurify sanitizer. An attacker can craft HTML containing a data-trix-serialized-attributes attribute with a malicious payload that, when rendered, executes arbitrary JavaScript in the user's session and may perform unauthorized actions or disclose sensitive information. This issue is fixed in version 2.1.17.

Aug 13, 2026Trix is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get rich text editor for everyday writing.CVE-2026-73428 · Other software · basecamp · reported by GitHubMedium 4.6
Trix is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get rich text editor for everyday writing. Prior to 2.1.18, Trix is vulnerable to stored cross-site scripting when crafted HTML is pasted into the editor. HTMLParser processes a mock attachment in a `<span>` with an empty `data-trix-attachment="{}"` value, causing data-trix-attributes to be applied to a plain string piece. StringPiece.fromJSON accepts an unvalidated href, allowing a javascript: URI to enter the document model and serialized HTML and execute when another user renders and clicks the content. Applications that apply server-side HTML sanitization can neutralize the payload on save. This issue is fixed in version 2.1.18.

Aug 12, 2026Trix is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get rich text editor for everyday writing.CVE-2026-73427 · Other software · basecamp · reported by GitHubLow 2.1
Trix is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get rich text editor for everyday writing. Prior to 2.1.18, Trix is vulnerable to cross-site scripting when a crafted application/x-trix-document JSON payload is dropped into an editor using the fallback Level0InputController, such as an embedded WebView without Input Events Level 2 support. The StringPiece.fromJSON method trusts href attributes from the JSON payload without sanitization, allowing a draggable element containing a javascript: URI to bypass DOMPurify sanitization and inject executable JavaScript into the DOM. Exploitation requires the victim to drag and drop attacker-controlled content, and server-side HTML sanitization can neutralize the payload on save. This issue is fixed in version 2.1.18.

Aug 7, 2026Element Call is a native Matrix video conferencing application.CVE-2026-48007 · Other software · element-hq · reported by GitHubHigh 8.6
Element Call is a native Matrix video conferencing application. Versions 0.5.17 through 0.19.3 report analytics data to a PostHog server, when configured to by a `posthog` key in config.json or by the `posthogApiHost` and `posthogApiKey` URL parameters. Several fields of this data (`$initial_person_info`, `$session_entry_url`, and `$current_url`) were found to contain the full URL of the user's visited page, including the fragment. Users of a standalone Element Call ‘SPA’ instance such as https://call.element.io may therefore have reported the full URLs of certain calls, including encryption passwords, to the configured PostHog server, potentially compromising the confidentiality of the calls to actors who could access both the PostHog analytics data and the encrypted media streams. The same issue is present in Element Call's embedded package, but in practice it does not impact applications using this package (including Element Web, Element Desktop, Element X iOS, and Element X Android) because they distribute encryption keys over Matrix rather than encoding a password in the URL. The issue is patched in Element Call 0.19.4. Some workarounds are available. Users may opt out of anal
