Oct 23, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum_flower: Fix port range register leak in tmplt_create() mlxsw_sp_flower_tmpCVE-2026-98948 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum_flower: Fix port range register leak in tmplt_create() mlxsw_sp_flower_tmplt_create() parses a flow_cls_offload template into a stack-local struct mlxsw_sp_acl_rule_info purely to compute rulei.values.elusage. Parsing can acquire port range registers via mlxsw_sp_flower_parse_ports_range(), but since this rulei never goes through mlxsw_sp_acl_rulei_destroy(), those registers were never released, including through chain template deletion. Factor out of mlxsw_sp_acl_rulei_destroy() the code to actually release the necessary resources and call from mlxsw_sp_flower_tmplt_create() to plug the leak. The issue was found during a review of Wentao Liang's patch referenced below.

Sep 25, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum_ptp: Fix napi_gro_receive() call from GC workqueue context Currently mlxswCVE-2026-98050 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.5
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum_ptp: Fix napi_gro_receive() call from GC workqueue context Currently mlxsw_sp1_ptp_ht_gc_collect() is run from the PTP garbage-collection workqueue, rather than the NAPI poll context. For any unmatched PTP entries carrying an SKB, it calls mlxsw_sp1_ptp_unmatched_finish() -> mlxsw_sp1_ptp_packet_finish(). For ingress packets, this calls mlxsw_sp_rx_listener_no_mark_func(). The end of that function is the following: skb->protocol = eth_type_trans(skb, skb->dev); napi_gro_receive(mlxsw_skb_cb(skb)->rx_md_info.napi, skb); The napi pointer is one that was placed in the SKB control block when the trapped packet was received in the NAPI context. Later, when the GC reaps the unmatched entry (up to MLXSW_SP1_PTP_HT_GC_TIMEOUT later), the call to napi_gro_receive() mutates the NAPI instance's GRO list, which is unsafe if the poll is running concurrently on another CPU. In mlxsw_sp1_ptp_ht_gc_collect(), local_bh_disable() is called to prevent softirq processing, but this only applies to the local CPU. Additionally, its comment is stale. It states that mlxsw_sp1_ptp_unmatched_finish() invokes neti

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum_router: Fix neighbour use-after-free We sometimes observe use-after-free when dereferencing a neighbour [1]. The problem seems to be that the driver stores a pointer to the neighbour, but without holding a reference on it. A reference is only taken when the neighbour is used by a nexthop. Fix by simplifying the reference counting scheme. Always take a reference when storing a neighbour pointer in a neighbour entry. Avoid taking a referencing when the neighbour is used by a nexthop as the neighbour entry associated with the nexthop already holds a reference. Tested by running the test that uncovered the problem over 300 times. Without this patch the problem was reproduced after a handful of iterations. Jan 13, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum_mr: Fix use-after-free when updating multicast route stats Cited commit adCVE-2025-68800 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.8
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum_mr: Fix use-after-free when updating multicast route stats Cited commit added a dedicated mutex (instead of RTNL) to protect the multicast route list, so that it will not change while the driver periodically traverses it in order to update the kernel about multicast route stats that were queried from the device. One instance of list entry deletion (during route replace) was missed and it can result in a use-after-free [1]. Fix by acquiring the mutex before deleting the entry from the list and releasing it afterwards. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum_router: Fix use-after-free when deleting GRE net devices The driver only offloads neighbors that are constructed on top of net devices registered by it or their uppers (which are all Ethernet). The device supports GRE encapsulation and decapsulation of forwarded traffic, but the driver will not offload dummy neighbors constructed on top of GRE net devices as they are not uppers of its net devices: # ip link add name gre1 up type gre tos inherit local 192.0.2.1 remote 198.51.100.1 # ip neigh add 0.0.0.0 lladdr 0.0.0.0 nud noarp dev gre1 $ ip neigh show dev gre1 nud noarp 0.0.0.0 lladdr 0.0.0.0 NOARP (Note that the neighbor is not marked with 'offload') When the driver is reloaded and the existing configuration is replayed, the driver does not perform the same check regarding existing neighbors and offloads the previously added one: # devlink dev reload pci/0000:01:00.0 $ ip neigh show dev gre1 nud noarp 0.0.0.0 lladdr 0.0.0.0 offload NOARP If the neighbor is later deleted, the driver will ignore the notification (given the GRE net device is not its upper) and will therefore keep referen

Feb 26, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum: Guard against invalid local ports When processing events generated by theCVE-2022-49134 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Medium 5.5
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum: Guard against invalid local ports When processing events generated by the device's firmware, the driver protects itself from events reported for non-existent local ports, but not for the CPU port (local port 0), which exists, but does not have all the fields as any local port. This can result in a NULL pointer dereference when trying access 'struct mlxsw_sp_port' fields which are not initialized for CPU port. Commit 63b08b1f6834 ("mlxsw: spectrum: Protect driver from buggy firmware") already handled such issue by bailing early when processing a PUDE event reported for the CPU port. Generalize the approach by moving the check to a common function and making use of it in all relevant places.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum_ipip: Fix memory leak when changing remote IPv6 address The device stores IPv6 addresses that are used for encapsulation in linear memory that is managed by the driver. Changing the remote address of an ip6gre net device never worked properly, but since cited commit the following reproducer [1] would result in a warning [2] and a memory leak [3]. The problem is that the new remote address is never added by the driver to its hash table (and therefore the device) and the old address is never removed from it. Fix by programming the new address when the configuration of the ip6gre net device changes and removing the old one. If the address did not change, then the above would result in increasing the reference count of the address and then decreasing it. Aug 20, 2024In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum_acl_erp: Fix object nesting warning ACLs in Spectrum-2 and newer ASICs canCVE-2024-43880 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.8
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum_acl_erp: Fix object nesting warning ACLs in Spectrum-2 and newer ASICs can reside in the algorithmic TCAM (A-TCAM) or in the ordinary circuit TCAM (C-TCAM). The former can contain more ACLs (i.e., tc filters), but the number of masks in each region (i.e., tc chain) is limited. In order to mitigate the effects of the above limitation, the device allows filters to share a single mask if their masks only differ in up to 8 consecutive bits. For example, dst_ip/25 can be represented using dst_ip/24 with a delta of 1 bit. The C-TCAM does not have a limit on the number of masks being used (and therefore does not support mask aggregation), but can contain a limited number of filters. The driver uses the "objagg" library to perform the mask aggregation by passing it objects that consist of the filter's mask and whether the filter is to be inserted into the A-TCAM or the C-TCAM since filters in different TCAMs cannot share a mask. The set of created objects is dependent on the insertion order of the filters and is not necessarily optimal. Therefore, the driver will periodically ask the library to compute

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum_buffers: Fix memory corruptions on Spectrum-4 systems The following two shared buffer operations make use of the Shared Buffer Status Register (SBSR): # devlink sb occupancy snapshot pci/0000:01:00.0 # devlink sb occupancy clearmax pci/0000:01:00.0 The register has two masks of 256 bits to denote on which ingress / egress ports the register should operate on. Spectrum-4 has more than 256 ports, so the register was extended by cited commit with a new 'port_page' field. However, when filling the register's payload, the driver specifies the ports as absolute numbers and not relative to the first port of the port page, resulting in memory corruptions [1]. Fix by specifying the ports relative to the first port of the port page. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum: Protect driver from buggy firmware When processing port up/down events generated by the device's firmware, the driver protects itself from events reported for non-existent local ports, but not the CPU port (local port 0), which exists, but lacks a netdev. This can result in a NULL pointer dereference when calling netif_carrier_{on,off}(). Fix this by bailing early when processing an event reported for the CPU port. Problem was only observed when running on top of a buggy emulator.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum_acl_tcam: Fix warning during rehash As previously explained, the rehash delayed work migrates filters from one region to another. This is done by iterating over all chunks (all the filters with the same priority) in the region and in each chunk iterating over all the filters. When the work runs out of credits it stores the current chunk and entry as markers in the per-work context so that it would know where to resume the migration from the next time the work is scheduled. Upon error, the chunk marker is reset to NULL, but without resetting the entry markers despite being relative to it. This can result in migration being resumed from an entry that does not belong to the chunk being migrated. In turn, this will eventually lead to a chunk being iterated over as if it is an entry. Because of how the two structures happen to be defined, this does not lead to KASAN splats, but to warnings such as [1]. Fix by creating a helper that resets all the markers and call it from all the places the currently only reset the chunk marker. For good measures also call it when starting a completely new rehash. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum_acl_tcam: Fix possible use-after-free during rehash The rehash delayed work migrates filters from one region to another according to the number of available credits. The migrated from region is destroyed at the end of the work if the number of credits is non-negative as the assumption is that this is indicative of migration being complete. This assumption is incorrect as a non-negative number of credits can also be the result of a failed migration. The destruction of a region that still has filters referencing it can result in a use-after-free [1]. Fix by not destroying the region if migration failed. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum_acl_tcam: Fix memory leak during rehash The rehash delayed work migrates filters from one region to another. This is done by iterating over all chunks (all the filters with the same priority) in the region and in each chunk iterating over all the filters. If the migration fails, the code tries to migrate the filters back to the old region. However, the rollback itself can also fail in which case another migration will be erroneously performed. Besides the fact that this ping pong is not a very good idea, it also creates a problem. Each virtual chunk references two chunks: The currently used one ('vchunk->chunk') and a backup ('vchunk->chunk2'). During migration the first holds the chunk we want to migrate filters to and the second holds the chunk we are migrating filters from. The code currently assumes - but does not verify - that the backup chunk does not exist (NULL) if the currently used chunk does not reference the target region. This assumption breaks when we are trying to rollback a rollback, resulting in the backup chunk being overwritten and leaked [1]. Fix by not rolling back a faile

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum_acl_tcam: Fix memory leak when canceling rehash work The rehash delayed work is rescheduled with a delay if the number of credits at end of the work is not negative as supposedly it means that the migration ended. Otherwise, it is rescheduled immediately. After "mlxsw: spectrum_acl_tcam: Fix possible use-after-free during rehash" the above is no longer accurate as a non-negative number of credits is no longer indicative of the migration being done. It can also happen if the work encountered an error in which case the migration will resume the next time the work is scheduled. The significance of the above is that it is possible for the work to be pending and associated with hints that were allocated when the migration started. This leads to the hints being leaked [1] when the work is canceled while pending as part of ACL region dismantle. Fix by freeing the hints if hints are associated with a work that was canceled while pending. Blame the original commit since the reliance on not having a pending work associated with hints is fragile. [1] unreferenced object 0xffff88810e7c3000 (size 256):

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum_acl_tcam: Fix stack corruption When tc filters are first added to a net device, the corresponding local port gets bound to an ACL group in the device. The group contains a list of ACLs. In turn, each ACL points to a different TCAM region where the filters are stored. During forwarding, the ACLs are sequentially evaluated until a match is found. One reason to place filters in different regions is when they are added with decreasing priorities and in an alternating order so that two consecutive filters can never fit in the same region because of their key usage. In Spectrum-2 and newer ASICs the firmware started to report that the maximum number of ACLs in a group is more than 16, but the layout of the register that configures ACL groups (PAGT) was not updated to account for that. It is therefore possible to hit stack corruption [1] in the rare case where more than 16 ACLs in a group are required. Fix by limiting the maximum ACL group size to the minimum between what the firmware reports and the maximum ACLs that fit in the PAGT register. Add a test case to make sure the machine does not crash w
