  • Oct 23, 2026Serialize JavaScript serializes JavaScript values to a superset of JSON that includes regular expressions and functions.CVE-2026-115897 · Other software · yahoo · reported by GitHubLow 2.1

Serialize JavaScript serializes JavaScript values to a superset of JSON that includes regular expressions and functions. Prior to 7.1.3, the function-source escaping logic does not neutralize a bare closing-script prefix when attacker-influenced function source text ends exactly at that prefix. Because each function body is escaped independently, a delimiter supplied by surrounding serialized output can terminate an HTML script element, and a later serialized value supplies injected markup that becomes a live element in the page. Exploitation requires control of a serialized function's source text, such as through a spoofed toString(). This issue is fixed in version 7.1.3.

  • Oct 23, 2026serialize-javascript from 7.0.1 before 7.1.3 contains a cross-site scripting vulnerability that allows attackers to break out of HTML script elements by ending CVE-2026-115754 · Other software · yahoo · reported by VulnCheckLow 2.3

serialize-javascript from 7.0.1 before 7.1.3 contains a cross-site scripting vulnerability that allows attackers to break out of HTML script elements by ending serialized function source text with an unescaped </script. Attackers controlling a function's source via a spoofed toString() can combine surrounding output delimiters and later values to inject live markup such as img onerror handlers.

  • Sep 29, 2026Serialize JavaScript serializes JavaScript values to a superset of JSON that includes regular expressions and functions.CVE-2026-97711 · Other software · yahoo · reported by GitHubLow 2.3

Serialize JavaScript serializes JavaScript values to a superset of JSON that includes regular expressions and functions. From 7.1.1 until 7.1.2, function values serialized by serialize-javascript are not fully protected against script-closing tags in attacker-influenced function source because SCRIPT_CLOSE_REGEXP can consume a second closing tag inside one match. When the serialized function is embedded in a script element, the surviving closing tag terminates the element early and causes the remaining output to be parsed as HTML, enabling cross-site scripting in the page origin. Only function values are affected; ordinary data values and options.isJSON output are unaffected. This issue is fixed in version 7.1.2.

  • Mar 30, 2026Serialize JavaScript to a superset of JSON that includes regular expressions and functions.CVE-2026-34043 · Other software · yahoo · reported by GitHubMedium 5.9

Serialize JavaScript to a superset of JSON that includes regular expressions and functions. Prior to version 7.0.5, there is a Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerability caused by CPU exhaustion. When serializing a specially crafted "array-like" object (an object that inherits from Array.prototype but has a very large length property), the process enters an intensive loop that consumes 100% CPU and hangs indefinitely. This issue has been patched in version 7.0.5.

  • Feb 10, 2025A flaw was found in npm-serialize-javascript.CVE-2024-11831 · Other software · Red Hat · reported by Red HatMedium 5.4

A flaw was found in npm-serialize-javascript. The vulnerability occurs because the serialize-javascript module does not properly sanitize certain inputs, such as regex or other JavaScript object types, allowing an attacker to inject malicious code. This code could be executed when deserialized by a web browser, causing Cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks. This issue is critical in environments where serialized data is sent to web clients, potentially compromising the security of the website or web application using this package.

  • Dec 5, 2019The serialize-javascript npm package before version 2.1.1 is vulnerable to Cross-site Scripting (XSS).CVE-2019-16769 · Other software · yahoo · reported by GitHubMedium 4.2

The serialize-javascript npm package before version 2.1.1 is vulnerable to Cross-site Scripting (XSS). It does not properly mitigate against unsafe characters in serialized regular expressions. This vulnerability is not affected on Node.js environment since Node.js's implementation of RegExp.prototype.toString() backslash-escapes all forward slashes in regular expressions. If serialized data of regular expression objects are used in an environment other than Node.js, it is affected by this vulnerability.

Where this comes from: the exploited list is CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Everything else is the whole National Vulnerability Database, where each record is published by the team that found the bug (Wordfence, Patchstack, WPScan, the vendors themselves and others); we show who. Exploit odds are FIRST’s EPSS, updated daily. Titles and categories are ours, so check the linked record before acting on a detail. For a write-up of the big ones, see our advisories. Every vendor, and every WordPress plugin and theme with a recorded flaw, also has its own page. All of it is free to reuse as JSON, CSV or RSS.
