rustdesk-api through 2.7 contains an authorization bypass vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to overwrite existing peer records by supplying only a target device ID to POST /api/sysinfo. Attackers can overwrite hostname, username, OS and uuid without uuid verification, then log in presenting that uuid to rebind the peer to their account.

Aug 26, 2026RustDesk versions before 1.4.7 contain an uncontrolled speculative memory allocation vulnerability in BytesCodec.CVE-2026-73108 · Other software · rustdesk · reported by VulnCheckHigh 8.7
RustDesk versions before 1.4.7 contain an uncontrolled speculative memory allocation vulnerability in BytesCodec. Before authentication, the decoder trusts the payload length encoded in a four-byte frame header and reserves that amount before receiving the payload. A crafted header can request up to 1,073,741,823 bytes of capacity, allowing unauthenticated attackers to use concurrent TCP connections to cause memory exhaustion and denial of service. The fix caps header-triggered speculative preallocation at 256 KiB.

Aug 26, 2026RustDesk versions 1.3.9 through 1.4.9 contain a path traversal vulnerability in the macOS clipboard file-paste code path.CVE-2026-73102 · Other software · rustdesk · reported by VulnCheckMedium 6.9
RustDesk versions 1.3.9 through 1.4.9 contain a path traversal vulnerability in the macOS clipboard file-paste code path. The application accepts peer-supplied file descriptor names and joins them to the selected target directory without requiring normalized relative paths. A remote peer in an active clipboard file-paste session can use parent-directory components or absolute paths to write files outside the intended target directory at locations writable by the RustDesk process. Commit 6f1eb16 fixes the issue by validating descriptor names and safely joining paths.

Aug 24, 2026RustDesk's Windows clipboard redirection copies a peer-supplied length into a fixed-size caller buffer without an upper bound check.CVE-2026-76840 · Other software · rustdesk · reported by VulnCheckHigh 8.5
RustDesk's Windows clipboard redirection copies a peer-supplied length into a fixed-size caller buffer without an upper bound check. When an OLE paste consumer such as explorer.exe calls IStream::Read with a buffer of cb bytes, CliprdrStream_Read in libs/clipboard/src/windows/wf_cliprdr.c requests that many bytes of a remote file through cliprdr_send_request_filecontents and then executes CopyMemory(pv, clipboard->req_fdata, clipboard->req_fsize), where req_fsize is taken verbatim from the peer's CLIPRDR FileContentsResponse by wf_cliprdr_server_file_contents_response (req_fsize = fileContentsResponse->cbRequested) and is never clamped to cb anywhere in the chain. The function's only length comparison, req_fsize < cb, handles the short-read case and is evaluated after the copy has already occurred. A malicious or compromised peer that answers a small file-contents read with an oversized response therefore writes attacker-chosen data past the end of the paste consumer's heap buffer when the local user pastes clipboard file contents offered by the remote side. The file is a fork of FreeRDP's client/Windows/wf_cliprdr.c, where the same defect is CVE-2026-68579, fixed in FreeRDP 3.30.0

RustDesk before 1.4.9 does not enforce a session's authorized connection scope on the server side, so a peer granted a limited session type (FileTransfer, PortForward, ViewCamera, or Terminal) can send control messages and login options reserved for a full Remote session. An authenticated remote peer can exploit this missing scope check to act outside its granted scope, injecting out-of-scope control messages to observe and control the host beyond the permissions it was given.

RustDesk gates incoming control messages on per-capability flags rather than on the session's authorized connection type, and a file-transfer session does not clear those flags. A peer holding only a valid FileTransfer authorization can inject keyboard and mouse input and reach the unguarded screenshot and display-capture handlers, acting outside its granted scope.

Mar 5, 2026Cleartext Transmission of Sensitive Information, Insufficiently Protected Credentials vulnerability in rustdesk-client RustDesk Client rustdesk-client on WindowCVE-2026-30796 · Other software · rustdesk-client · reported by 2fdefc65-d750-4b8d-96ee-6e2c0c42dbfeMedium 6.9
Cleartext Transmission of Sensitive Information, Insufficiently Protected Credentials vulnerability in rustdesk-client RustDesk Client rustdesk-client on Windows, MacOS, Linux, iOS, Android (Address book sync, Heartbeat sync loop modules) allows Sniffing Attacks. The client places the preset address-book password verbatim into the heartbeat sync JSON body (src/hbbs_http/sync.rs). Over an intact HTTPS session it is not exposed in transit, but it is a reusable shared secret rather than a zero-knowledge proof, so it is recovered by any party that becomes the API endpoint - under the re-homed/rogue API server (CVE-2026-30797) - and the leaked credential then authorizes the server-side address book. This vulnerability is associated with program files src/hbbs_http/sync.rs and program routines heartbeat sync body builder (emits preset-address-book-password). This issue affects RustDesk Client: through 1.4.8.

Mar 5, 2026Use of Password Hash With Insufficient Computational Effort, Improper Restriction of Excessive Authentication Attempts vulnerability in rustdesk-client RustDeskCVE-2026-30789 · Other software · rustdesk-client · reported by 2fdefc65-d750-4b8d-96ee-6e2c0c42dbfeMedium 5.7
Use of Password Hash With Insufficient Computational Effort, Improper Restriction of Excessive Authentication Attempts vulnerability in rustdesk-client RustDesk Client rustdesk-client on Windows, MacOS, Linux, iOS, Android (Client login, peer authentication modules) allows Password Brute Forcing. The authentication proof is SHA256(SHA256(password + salt) + challenge), where both the salt and the challenge are generated entirely by the server with no client-side nonce, and the hash uses no slow key-derivation function. A rogue or on-path API/relay server (see CVE-2026-30794 / CVE-2026-30797) can issue a chosen salt and challenge, capture the resulting proof, and recover the password offline. The capture-replay claim (CWE-294) is withdrawn: the challenge is regenerated per connection (challenge = Config::get_auto_password(6)), so a captured proof is not replayable against the legitimate server. The 1.4.7 OTP brute-force limiter and the existing LOGIN_FAILURES counter constrain only ONLINE attempts and do not address offline recovery. This vulnerability is associated with program files src/client.rs and program routines handle_hash(), handle_login_from_ui() (login proof construction

Feb 6, 2024A default installation of RustDesk 1.2.3 on Windows places a WDKTestCert certificate under Trusted Root Certification Authorities with Enhanced Key Usage of CodCVE-2024-25140 · Other software · rustdesk · reported by MITRECritical 9.8
A default installation of RustDesk 1.2.3 on Windows places a WDKTestCert certificate under Trusted Root Certification Authorities with Enhanced Key Usage of Code Signing (1.3.6.1.5.5.7.3.3), valid from 2023 until 2033. This is potentially unwanted, e.g., because there is no public documentation of security measures for the private key, and arbitrary software could be signed if the private key were to be compromised. NOTE: the vendor's position is "we do not have EV cert, so we use test cert as a workaround." Insertion into Trusted Root Certification Authorities was the originally intended behavior, and the UI ensured that the certificate installation step (checked by default) was visible to the user before proceeding with the product installation.
