  • Oct 28, 2026Apache Kafka's code-generated readers for flexible protocol versions read a tagged-field count declared by the sender and retain a RawTaggedField object for eacCVE-2026-111115 · Websites & servers · Apache Software Foundation · reported by security@apache.org

Apache Kafka's code-generated readers for flexible protocol versions read a tagged-field count declared by the sender and retain a RawTaggedField object for each unknown field. That count was bounded only by the outer request frame size (socket.request.max.bytes); it was not checked against the remaining buffer bytes or capped. Because each entry can be encoded in as little as two bytes (unknown tag 0, size 0), a modest request can declare tens of millions of tagged fields and force one object allocation per declared field. Flexible request headers (header version 2, used by flexible APIs such as ApiVersions v3) are parsed this way, so the amplification applies to the request header itself. Impact: The flexible request header is parsed on the network thread before authorization, request dispatch, and request-time quota accounting. A client can send a request of a few tens of megabytes whose header declares about 20 million tagged fields, forcing roughly that many RawTaggedField allocations and exhausting broker heap or inducing process-wide GC stalls, denying broker service. Because the header is parsed for pre-authentication APIs such as ApiVersions (v3), the allocation can occu

  • Oct 28, 2026Apache Kafka's code-generated protocol readers pre-size an array's collection from the element count declared by the sender.CVE-2026-111108 · Websites & servers · Apache Software Foundation · reported by security@apache.org

Apache Kafka's code-generated protocol readers pre-size an array's collection from the element count declared by the sender. That count is checked only against the bytes remaining in the request buffer, which assumes about one byte per element; because most elements need several bytes, a request can declare far more elements than the buffer holds and still pass. For a keyed array the reader then allocates an ImplicitLinkedHashCollection of capacity (2 * count +1), so a request of a few tens of megabytes can force a heap allocation several times larger before any element is read. The pattern is emitted into every generated reader, so it affects all Kafka API types with an array field.  Impact: Request parsing happens before any authorization check. On a listener that does not require authentication (for example PLAINTEXT), an unauthenticated attacker can send a few concurrent requests that each declare a very large= array length and allocate many times their wire size in broker heap, crashing the broker with an OutOfMemoryError. The reporter demonstrated three concurrent ~90 MB ProduceRequest (v3) connections exhausting a 1 GB heap (~8x amplification). On listeners that require

  • Oct 28, 2026Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling vulnerability in the HTTP/2 request body reader of mtrudel bandit allows an unauthenticated remote attackerCVE-2026-116078 · Other software · mtrudel · reported by 6b3ad84c-e1a6-4bf7-a703-f496b71e49dbHigh 8.7

Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling vulnerability in the HTTP/2 request body reader of mtrudel bandit allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to exhaust server memory via a request body sent as many 1-byte DATA frames. do_read_data/5 in lib/bandit/http2/stream.ex keeps every DATA frame payload as its own list element until the read returns. The :length option of read_body/2 counts body bytes, not frames, so a body of 1-byte frames costs a list cell and a binary term per byte. Interleaving the frames across up to 500 concurrent streams per connection keeps each stream consuming its frames as they arrive; in the reporter's test, 100 streams held 25 to 40 MiB of stream process memory for 5 MB sent. Only routes whose Plug reads the request body are affected, which includes any route behind Plug.Parsers. This issue affects bandit: from 0.3.1 before 1.14.1.

  • Oct 28, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: pipe: preserve existing fasync readers on writer setup failure F_SETFL and FIOASYNC decideCVE-2026-99203 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: pipe: preserve existing fasync readers on writer setup failure F_SETFL and FIOASYNC decide whether to invoke ->fasync() before pipe_fasync() takes pipe->mutex. Two enables of one O_RDWR FIFO can therefore both enter the callback. fasync_helper() allocates before checking for an existing entry. If the first enable installs both entries, a second enable can update the reader entry and then fail the allocation for the writer entry. The error path removes the pre-existing reader entry, clearing FASYNC while the writer entry remains registered. __fput() then skips ->fasync(), so a later pipe notification can dereference the freed file or its f_owner. An unprivileged memory-pressure reproducer triggers a KASAN slab-use-after-free in send_sigio() through this path. Keep the reader helper's result and undo the registration only if this call added it. The pipe mutex serializes changes to both lists, so a failed new registration still removes its reader, while a failed duplicate preserves the existing registrations and FASYNC. Successful duplicate enables continue to update fa_fd as before.

  • Oct 28, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ring-buffer: Fix false warning in ring_buffer_map_get_reader() The mmap reader can warn whCVE-2026-99158 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ring-buffer: Fix false warning in ring_buffer_map_get_reader() The mmap reader can warn when it catches up with a writer that is still committing events. rb_get_reader_page() returns NULL in this case, but ring_buffer_map_get_reader() treats that result as an error. The initial rb_per_cpu_empty() check filters out an empty buffer, but it does not guarantee that the next reader page has committed data. Writers do not take reader_lock and can advance commit_page before publishing the committed length on the new page. rb_get_reader_page() can swap to that page, catch up with the writer and return NULL. Handle NULL through the existing no-data exit without warning. Remove the caller's reader_page == commit_page check as well, since the reader-page helper already handles that case. The existing metadata update and return path remain in place.

  • Oct 26, 2026Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling vulnerability in the HTTP/2 request body reader of mtrudel bandit allows an unauthenticated remote attackerCVE-2026-115269 · Other software · mtrudel · reported by 6b3ad84c-e1a6-4bf7-a703-f496b71e49dbHigh 8.7

Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling vulnerability in the HTTP/2 request body reader of mtrudel bandit allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to hold stream processes open indefinitely via WINDOW_UPDATE or empty SETTINGS frames sent while a Plug reads the request body. Bandit.HTTP2.Stream.do_read_data/4 in lib/bandit/http2/stream.ex waits for each frame with a fresh read_timeout. A stream WINDOW_UPDATE, or the zero-delta window update that every empty SETTINGS frame delivers to all streams, ends the wait without delivering any body data, and the loop starts a new full countdown. A client that sends one of these 9-byte frames before each countdown expires keeps read_body blocked, together with the stream process and whatever the application holds while reading, for as long as it likes. This issue affects bandit: from 1.4.0 before 1.14.0.

  • Oct 26, 2026Inconsistent Interpretation of HTTP Requests ('HTTP Request/Response Smuggling') vulnerability in the HTTP/1.1 chunked body reader of mtrudel bandit allows an uCVE-2026-114216 · Other software · mtrudel · reported by 6b3ad84c-e1a6-4bf7-a703-f496b71e49dbMedium 6.3

Inconsistent Interpretation of HTTP Requests ('HTTP Request/Response Smuggling') vulnerability in the HTTP/1.1 chunked body reader of mtrudel bandit allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to smuggle a second request past a front-end proxy via a chunk extension that contains a bare LF. The chunked reader in lib/bandit/http1/socket.ex takes the chunk-size line to be everything up to the first CRLF and discards everything after ; without checking it against the RFC 9112 chunk-ext grammar, so bare LF, bare CR and other control bytes pass. A proxy that ends the size line at a bare LF reads 2;\nxx\r\n40\r\n... as one request whose second chunk holds a GET /admin, while Bandit ends the body early and dispatches GET /admin as a separate pipelined request. Deployments without such a proxy in front of Bandit are not affected. This issue affects bandit: from 1.12.4 before 1.14.0.

Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling vulnerability in the HTTP/1.1 chunked body reader of mtrudel bandit allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to exhaust server memory and CPU via a request body made of many 1-byte chunks. The chunked reader in lib/bandit/http1/socket.ex keeps every chunk as its own list cell and binary term until IO.iodata_to_binary/1 joins them, and nothing limits the number of chunks. The :length option of read_body/2 counts only data bytes, so tiny chunks cost far more memory than their payload: 48 MB of 1-byte chunks grew one handler process to about 500 MB and took about 6 s of CPU. The route does not need to read the body, because on keep-alive connections ensure_completed/1 drains unread bodies through the same reader. This issue affects bandit: from 0.1.0 before 1.14.0.

  • Oct 20, 2026The PNG chunk reader has no notion of chunk ordering.CVE-2026-91186 · Other software · Eclipse Foundation · reported by emo@eclipse.orgHigh 8.4

The PNG chunk reader has no notion of chunk ordering. It records whether an IDAT has been seen and whether a tRNS has already supplied transparency, but nothing prevents an IHDR being read a second time. A PNG carries exactly one IHDR and it is the first chunk. A file that places a second one after IDAT rewrites the image width, height, bit depth and pixel depth *after* the decoded-data buffer has already been allocated and filled from the original values. The pass that reverses the PNG row filters then derives its own extent from the new dimensions and walks the old allocation, moving image bytes past the end of it. The buffer is allocated by GUIX rather than supplied by the caller, so the application has no way to size it defensively. The decoder is compiled in by default.

In 3.6.1 and earlier, InitializePolicies() starts the sumatrapdfrestrict.ini path with gPolicyRestrictions set to Perm::All and only ORs permission bits, so the INI file never revokes permissions. Deploying SumatraPDF with this INI file, including a malformed file or zero-valued permission settings, can silently bypass configured disk, network, printing, registry, clipboard, preference, and fullscreen restrictions. The -restrict command-line path works correctly and is not affected. No fixed version is available as of this review.

SumatraPDF is a multi-format reader for Windows. In 3.5.2 and earlier, an attacker-controlled SyncTeX source filename is substituted for the %f placeholder in an external editor command line without safe Windows argument quoting, and the resulting command line is passed to CreateProcessW(). A user with an external editor configured or auto-detected who opens a PDF with a crafted .synctex.gz file and invokes inverse search can inject command-line flags; the resulting impact depends on the target editor interpreting those flags and can include unintended editor actions or code execution through a malicious extension. No broader impact is claimed beyond the advisory-supported conditions. No fixed version is available as of this review.

SumatraPDF is a multi-format reader for Windows. In 3.6.1 and earlier, FrameOnCommand() handles CmdExec by passing a null current-tab pointer to RunWithExe(), which dereferences WindowTab::filePath. A local process in the same interactive Windows session, at an integrity level greater than or equal to SumatraPDF's under Windows UIPI, can dispatch CmdExec over DDE or WM_COPYDATA while no document tab is open, causing abrupt process termination and loss of unsaved state. No broader impact is claimed beyond the advisory-supported conditions. No fixed version is available as of this review.

SumatraPDF is a multi-format reader for Windows. In 3.6.1 and earlier, untrusted document paths and PDF link targets are interpolated into notification text that ParseTip() interprets as trusted tip markup. SumatraPDF is a multi-format reader for Windows. In 3.7.0.22298, four independently reachable range-validation variants in src/LitDoc.cpp allow file-controlled offsets and sizes to overflow, narrow to negative values, or wrap before incomplete bounds checks. The affected calculations include contentOffset, the directory expression dirOff64 + dirLen64, and the decoded-section offset + size, along with secondary-header range handling. Opening a crafted LIT file that reaches one of these variants can cause invalid pointer reads and deterministic application termination. No broader impact is claimed beyond the advisory-supported conditions. No fixed version is available as of this review.

SumatraPDF is a multi-format reader for Windows. In 3.7.0.22298, LitParseHeader() in src/LitDoc.cpp computes the attacker-controlled hdrLen + nPieces * 16 section offset using signed 32-bit arithmetic without validating the complete result. When the component values make that aggregate calculation overflow to a negative value, pointer construction reaches an invalid read in LitU32(), causing deterministic application termination. The supplied evidence does not demonstrate code execution, information disclosure, arbitrary read, or integrity impact. No fixed version is available as of this review.

SumatraPDF is a multi-format reader for Windows. In 3.7.0.22298, src/MobiDoc.cpp narrows the untrusted unsigned mobiHdr.hdrLen field to a signed integer for validation; values above INT_MAX become negative and bypass the upper-bound check. When the EXTH flag is set, the original unsigned value is reused as a pointer offset, causing DecodeExthHeader() to read beyond the record buffer. Opening a crafted MOBI file can reliably terminate the application with a native access violation; no code execution, information disclosure, or integrity impact has been demonstrated. No fixed version is available as of this review.

  • Oct 8, 2026Inefficient algorithmic complexity in the JSON reader of Progressive Robot hMailServer allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to make the mail services unavaiCVE-2026-107574 · Other software · Progressive Robot Ltd · reported by cve@gitlab.comHigh 7.5

Inefficient algorithmic complexity in the JSON reader of Progressive Robot hMailServer allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to make the mail services unavailable. Reading a JSON object kept the first of each duplicated member name by searching the members already read, so an object of N distinct member names cost O(N^2): 1 MB took 8.9 seconds and 4 MB took 300 seconds against the affected code. A remote attacker reaches the reader without an account by mailing a crafted TLS-RPT report (up to 16 MB after decompression) to a hosted domain's published report mailbox, which is read on a delivery thread; a few such reports hold every delivery thread (ten by default), so the server delivers no mail, local or outbound, for over an hour per report. A signed-in account reaches the same 16 MB body through the webmail's own REST routes, holding the REST API's own worker threads. Where no report mailbox is configured, the unauthenticated REST sign-in routes that read a JSON body are capped at 64 KB and are not affected.

  • Oct 6, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dmaengine: wait for RCU readers before releasing dma_device dma_issue_pending_all() walks CVE-2026-98342 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dmaengine: wait for RCU readers before releasing dma_device dma_issue_pending_all() walks the dma_device_list with list_for_each_entry_rcu() under rcu_read_lock(). dma_device_release() unlinks the device with list_del_rcu() and then calls device->device_release() (which in many drivers, such as plx_dma.c, directly calls kfree()). Because there is no grace period between unlinking the device and freeing it, concurrent RCU readers in dma_issue_pending_all() can access the device after it has been freed. The lockless walk originally relied on clients holding a dmaengine reference to pin the provider module, and therefore the device, for as long as they might traverse the list. Commit 8ad342a86359 ("dmaengine: Add reference counting to dma_device struct") decoupled the dma_device lifetime from the module reference, so the device can now be released while a reader is still walking the list. Add synchronize_rcu() before the device is freed, so RCU readers are guaranteed to have finished. Keep it unconditional: providers that do not implement device_release() free the device themselves once dma_async_device_unregiste

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netlink: do not free nlk->groups while lockless readers can use it netlink_realloc_groups() uses krealloc() under netlink_table_grab(). Whenever NLGRPSZ(groups) lands in a different kmalloc bucket, the old bitmap is freed immediately. Two readers of nlk->groups / nlk->ngroups do not hold the netlink table lock: 1) sk_diag_dump_groups(). Hashed (bound) sockets are dumped from the rhashtable walk in __netlink_diag_dump(), which only holds RCU. Only the mc_list part of the dump takes nl_table_lock. 2) netlink_native_seq_show() (/proc/net/netlink), whose walk has been lockless since commit 21e4902aea80 ("netlink: Lockless lookup with RCU grace period in socket release"). Both can read a freed buffer, and sk_diag_dump_groups() can also read past the end of the old (smaller) buffer if it happens to load the old @groups pointer together with the new @ngroups value, copying the result into a NETLINK_DIAG_GROUPS attribute. This is the same class of bug that commit f773608026ee ("netlink: access nlk groups safely in netlink bind and getname") fixed for bind() and getname(); these two readers were missed. S
