  • Oct 23, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: reset ar->num_stations on hardware start When (multiple) hw restart occurs, CVE-2026-98936 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: reset ar->num_stations on hardware start When (multiple) hw restart occurs, we end up in a situation where we cannot accept new stations / mesh peers. This seems to be the 'num_stations' in 'struct ath11k' that did not get reset properly in this case. In ath11k_mac_op_start(), it was indeed the only accounting var that did not get reset so let's clear it too. This avoids problems like those: [1248828.088023] WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 12281 at net/mac80211/util.c:1682 ieee80211_reconfig_stations+0x98/0xc0 [1248828.088115] Call trace: [1248828.088116] ieee80211_reconfig_stations+0x98/0xc0 (P) [1248828.088119] ieee80211_reconfig+0x774/0x1438 [1248828.088123] ieee80211_restart_work+0x10c/0x178 [1248828.088127] process_one_work+0x178/0x3c0 [1248828.088130] worker_thread+0x280/0x440 [1248828.088133] kthread+0xe0/0xf8 [1248828.088137] ret_from_fork+0x10/0x20 [1248828.088141] ---[ end trace 0000000000000000 ]--- [1248836.686604] ath11k_pci 0000:04:00.0: refusing to associate station: too many connected already (128) [1248836.686609] ath11k_pci 0000:04:00.0: Failed to add station: xx:xx:xx:xx

  • Oct 6, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: cleanup arsta in ath11k_mac_peer_cleanup_all() When mac80211 removes a sta, CVE-2026-98307 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: cleanup arsta in ath11k_mac_peer_cleanup_all() When mac80211 removes a sta, it calls .sta_state() which in turn calls ath11k_mac_station_remove(). In that function we clean up both peers & arsta related resources. But when the firmware crashes, ath11k calls ieee80211_restart_hw(), which assumes that all driver related resources are cleaned up beforehand. This cleanup is supposedly done by ath11k_mac_peer_cleanup_all() but does not in fact free arsta->rx_stats / tx_stats. Extract the arsta cleanup from ath11k_mac_station_remove() into a new ath11k_mac_station_cleanup() and call it from both there and ath11k_mac_peer_cleanup_all(). • Sep 24, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: fix invalid data access in ath11k_dp_rx_h_undecap_nwifi In certain cases, haCVE-2026-97442 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 8.8

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: fix invalid data access in ath11k_dp_rx_h_undecap_nwifi In certain cases, hardware might provide packets with a length greater than the maximum native Wi-Fi header length. This can lead to accessing and modifying fields in the header within the ath11k_dp_rx_h_undecap_nwifi() function for the DP_RX_DECAP_TYPE_NATIVE_WIFI decap type and potentially result in invalid data access and memory corruption. Kernel stack is corrupted in: ath11k_dp_rx_h_undecap+0x6b0/0x6b0 [ath11k] Call trace: ath11k_dp_rx_h_mpdu+0x0/0x2e8 [ath11k] ath11k_dp_rx_h_mpdu+0x1e0/0x2e8 [ath11k] ath11k_dp_rx_wbm_err+0x1e0/0x450 [ath11k] ath11k_dp_rx_process_wbm_err+0x2fc/0x460 [ath11k] ath11k_dp_service_srng+0x2e0/0x348 [ath11k] Add a sanity check before processing the SKB to prevent invalid data access in the undecap native Wi-Fi function for the DP_RX_DECAP_TYPE_NATIVE_WIFI decap type. • Sep 24, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: cap out-of-range rx MCS instead of leaving bogus rate ath11k can receive HT/CVE-2026-93271 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: cap out-of-range rx MCS instead of leaving bogus rate ath11k can receive HT/VHT/HE frames whose reported MCS is above the maximum that can be expressed in the corresponding mac80211 rate space (e.g. an HE frame reported with MCS 12, while HE tops out at MCS 11). The frame itself is valid and decodes correctly, but for such a frame ath11k_dp_rx_h_rate() leaves rx_status->rate_idx set to the out-of-range value and never assigns rx_status->encoding, so it stays RX_ENC_LEGACY from the ath11k_dp_rx_h_ppdu() initialization. Once that frame reaches mac80211 it trips the rate sanity check and the frame is dropped with a splat: ath11k_pci 0000:03:00.0: Received with invalid mcs in HE mode 12 WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 0 at net/mac80211/rx.c:5433 ieee80211_rx_list+0xb0a/0xe90 [mac80211] Dropping the frame would discard otherwise valid data, so instead cap the reported MCS to the maximum the rate space can express and deliver the frame. Set rx_status->encoding before the range check and assign rate_idx from the capped value, so a frame with an out-of-range MCS no longer leaves partial or bogus rate metadata b

  • Sep 17, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: Avoid buffer overread in ath11k_wmi_tlv_op_rx() Currently, in ath11k_wmi_tlvCVE-2026-92496 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: Avoid buffer overread in ath11k_wmi_tlv_op_rx() Currently, in ath11k_wmi_tlv_op_rx(), the firmware buffer is read without first verifying that the buffer has enough data to hold a header. This could result in a buffer overread. Add an upfront length check before dereferencing skb->data as a wmi_cmd_hdr. The check is placed before the trace_ath11k_wmi_event() call to preserve the existing trace semantics (tracing the full raw WMI event including the header), unlike the analogous ath12k fix which could use skb_pull_data() directly. Compile tested only.

  • Sep 17, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: fix overreads in ath11k_wmi_process_csa_switch_count_event() There is no polCVE-2026-90407 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.7

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: fix overreads in ath11k_wmi_process_csa_switch_count_event() There is no policy entry for WMI_TAG_PDEV_CSA_SWITCH_COUNT_STATUS_EVENT, so the parse infrastructure does not enforce a minimum length for the event struct. Additionally, the num_vdevs field is taken directly from firmware and used as a loop bound over the vdev_ids array without checking that it fits within the TLV payload. Either condition can cause an out-of-bounds read. Add a TLV policy entry for WMI_TAG_PDEV_CSA_SWITCH_COUNT_STATUS_EVENT so the parse infrastructure enforces a minimum length for the fixed-size event struct. Add a helper ath11k_wmi_tlv_data_len() to recover the payload length of a parsed TLV from the header preceding its data pointer. Use it in ath11k_wmi_process_csa_switch_count_event() to bound num_vdevs before the loop. Compile tested only.

  • Sep 17, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: fix stride mismatch in mac_phy_caps_parse() Currently, in ath11k_wmi_tlv_macCVE-2026-90398 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 8.4

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: fix stride mismatch in mac_phy_caps_parse() Currently, in ath11k_wmi_tlv_mac_phy_caps_parse(), kcalloc() sizes the mac_phy_caps buffer as tot_phy_id * len, where len is clamped to min(firmware_len, sizeof(struct wmi_mac_phy_capabilities)). The subsequent memcpy() destination advances by sizeof(full struct) per slot via C pointer arithmetic, not by the clamped len. When firmware sends short TLVs, the second and later slots are written past the end of the allocation. The reader in ath11k_pull_mac_phy_cap_svc_ready_ext() also indexes the buffer with full-struct pointer arithmetic, so the allocation must match that stride. Fix by using kzalloc_objs(), which derives the element size from the pointer type, making allocation size and pointer stride provably consistent regardless of what len the firmware provides. Compile tested only.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: fix leak in ath11k_service_ready_ext_event() Currently, during ath11k_service_ready_ext_event() processing, svc_rdy_ext.mac_phy_caps can be allocated during TLV parsing. This is a temporary allocation that is freed on the success path, but not on the error path. If parsing succeeds far enough to allocate mac_phy_caps and then fails on a later TLV, the allocation leaks. So free the allocation on the error path. Compile tested only.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: cancel SSR work items during PCI shutdown A reboot can crash the kernel if it overlaps with WLAN firmware crash recovery (SSR). The crash is a NULL pointer dereference in the MHI teardown path while freeing DMA-backed MHI contexts. Simplified trace: dma_free_attrs mhi_deinit_dev_ctxt [mhi] ath11k_pci_power_down [ath11k_pci] ath11k_pci_shutdown [ath11k_pci] device_shutdown kernel_restart On the host side, SSR is driven by the MHI RDDM callback, which queues reset_work to perform device recovery. reset_work power-cycles the device by calling ath11k_hif_power_down() followed by ath11k_hif_power_up(). The power-down phase deinitializes MHI and frees DMA resources. Shutdown/reboot runs fully asynchronously with this RDDM-driven SSR recovery flow. As a result, the shutdown path (ath11k_pci_shutdown() -> ath11k_pci_power_down()) can race with the SSR recovery sequence. Fix this by canceling SSR-related work items during PCI shutdown, marking the device as unregistering, and serializing the RDDM callback path that checks and queues reset_work. This ensures that no new SSR recovery work can b

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: fix peer HE MCS assignment In ath11k_wmi_send_peer_assoc_cmd(), peer's transmit MCS is sent to firmware as receive MCS while peer's receive MCS sent as transmit MCS, which goes against firmwire's definition. While connecting to a misbehaved AP that advertises 0xffff (meaning not supported) for 160 MHz transmit MCS map, firmware crashes due to 0xffff is assigned to he_mcs->rx_mcs_set field. Ext Tag: HE Capabilities [...] Supported HE-MCS and NSS Set [...] Rx and Tx MCS Maps 160 MHz [...] Tx HE-MCS Map 160 MHz: 0xffff Swap the assignment to fix this issue. As the HE rate control mask is meant to limit our own transmit MCS, it needs to go via he_mcs->rx_mcs_set field. With the aforementioned swapping done, change is needed as well to apply it to the peer's receive MCS. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: Ignore frags from uninitialized peer in dp. When max virtual ap interfaces are configured in all the bands with ACS and hostapd restart is done every 60s, a crash is observed at random times. In this certain scenario, a fragmented packet is received for self peer, for which rx_tid and rx_frags are not initialized in datapath. While handling this fragment, crash is observed as the rx_frag list is uninitialised and when we walk in ath11k_dp_rx_h_sort_frags, skb null leads to exception. To address this, before processing received fragments we check dp_setup_done flag is set to ensure that peer has completed its dp peer setup for fragment queue, else ignore processing the fragments. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: fix node corruption in ar->arvifs list In current WLAN recovery code flow, ath11k_core_halt() only reinitializes the "arvifs" list head. This will cause the list node immediately following the list head to become an invalid list node. Because the prev of that node still points to the list head "arvifs", but the next of the list head "arvifs" no longer points to that list node. When a WLAN recovery occurs during the execution of a vif removal, and it happens before the spin_lock_bh(&ar->data_lock) in ath11k_mac_op_remove_interface(), list_del() will detect the previously mentioned situation, thereby triggering a kernel panic. The fix is to remove and reinitialize all vif list nodes from the list head "arvifs" during WLAN halt. The reinitialization is to make the list nodes valid, ensuring that the list_del() in ath11k_mac_op_remove_interface() can execute normally. This issue has been patched in version 0.16.0. Since exploitation requires the combination of buggy h11 with a buggy (reverse) proxy, fixing either component is sufficient to mitigate this issue.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: update channel list in reg notifier instead reg worker Currently when ath11k gets a new channel list, it will be processed according to the following steps: 1. update new channel list to cfg80211 and queue reg_work. 2. cfg80211 handles new channel list during reg_work. 3. update cfg80211's handled channel list to firmware by ath11k_reg_update_chan_list(). But ath11k will immediately execute step 3 after reg_work is just queued. Since step 2 is asynchronous, cfg80211 may not have completed handling the new channel list, which may leading to an out-of-bounds write error: BUG: KASAN: slab-out-of-bounds in ath11k_reg_update_chan_list Call Trace: ath11k_reg_update_chan_list+0xbfe/0xfe0 [ath11k] kfree+0x109/0x3a0 ath11k_regd_update+0x1cf/0x350 [ath11k] ath11k_regd_update_work+0x14/0x20 [ath11k] process_one_work+0xe35/0x14c0 Should ensure step 2 is completely done before executing step 3. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: Clear affinity hint before calling ath11k_pcic_free_irq() in error path If a shared IRQ is used by the driver due to platform limitation, then the IRQ affinity hint is set right after the allocation of IRQ vectors in ath11k_pci_alloc_msi(). This does no harm unless one of the functions requesting the IRQ fails and attempt to free the IRQ. This results in the below warning: WARNING: CPU: 7 PID: 349 at kernel/irq/manage.c:1929 free_irq+0x278/0x29c Call trace: free_irq+0x278/0x29c ath11k_pcic_free_irq+0x70/0x10c [ath11k] ath11k_pci_probe+0x800/0x820 [ath11k_pci] local_pci_probe+0x40/0xbc The warning is due to not clearing the affinity hint before freeing the IRQs. So to fix this issue, clear the IRQ affinity hint before calling ath11k_pcic_free_irq() in the error path. The affinity will be cleared once again further down the error path due to code organization, but that does no harm. Tested-on: QCA6390 hw2.0 PCI WLAN.HST.1.0.1-05266-QCAHSTSWPLZ_V2_TO_X86-1

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: fix RCU stall while reaping monitor destination ring While processing the monitor destination ring, MSDUs are reaped from the link descriptor based on the corresponding buf_id. However, sometimes the driver cannot obtain a valid buffer corresponding to the buf_id received from the hardware. This causes an infinite loop in the destination processing, resulting in a kernel crash. kernel log: ath11k_pci 0000:58:00.0: data msdu_pop: invalid buf_id 309 ath11k_pci 0000:58:00.0: data dp_rx_monitor_link_desc_return failed ath11k_pci 0000:58:00.0: data msdu_pop: invalid buf_id 309 ath11k_pci 0000:58:00.0: data dp_rx_monitor_link_desc_return failed Fix this by skipping the problematic buf_id and reaping the next entry, replacing the break with the next MSDU processing. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ath11k: Change max no of active probe SSID and BSSID to fw capability The maximum number of SSIDs in a for active probe requests is currently reported as 16 (WLAN_SCAN_PARAMS_MAX_SSID) when registering the driver. The scan_req_params structure only has the capacity to hold 10 SSIDs. This leads to a buffer overflow which can be triggered from wpa_supplicant in userspace. When copying the SSIDs into the scan_req_params structure in the ath11k_mac_op_hw_scan route, it can overwrite the extraie pointer. Firmware supports 16 ssid * 4 bssid, for each ssid 4 bssid combo probe request will be sent, so totally 64 probe requests supported. So set both max ssid and bssid to 16 and 4 respectively. Where this comes from: the exploited list is CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Everything else is the whole National Vulnerability Database, where each record is published by the team that found the bug (Wordfence, Patchstack, WPScan, the vendors themselves and others); we show who. Exploit odds are FIRST’s EPSS, updated daily. Titles and categories are ours, so check the linked record before acting on a detail. For a write-up of the big ones, see our advisories. Every vendor, and every WordPress plugin and theme with a recorded flaw, also has its own page. All of it is free to reuse as JSON, CSV or RSS.
