Such manipulation of the argument state/labels leads to os command injection. The attack can be launched remotely. Upgrading to version 0.4.1 is recommended to address this issue. The name of the patch is 253d93bbdf7ee9fe42bd8fdf15feea93ae59cbae. It is suggested to upgrade the affected component.

github-kanban-mcp-server execAsync Command Injection Remote Code Execution Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of github-kanban-mcp-server. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists within the handling of the create_issue parameter. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of a user-supplied string before using it to execute a system call. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the service account. Was ZDI-CAN-27784.

GitHub Kanban MCP Server is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for managing GitHub issues in Kanban board format and streamlining LLM task management. Version 0.3.0 of the MCP Server is written in a way that is vulnerable to command injection vulnerability attacks as part of some of its MCP Server tool definition and implementation. The MCP Server exposes the tool `add_comment` which relies on Node.js child process API `exec` to execute the GitHub (`gh`) command, is an unsafe and vulnerable API if concatenated with untrusted user input. As of time of publication, no known patches are available.
