Aug 26, 2026Starlette-Admin is a fast, beautiful and extensible administrative interface framework for FastAPI and Starlette applications.CVE-2026-54553 · Other software · jowilf · reported by GitHubMedium 5.4
Starlette-Admin is a fast, beautiful and extensible administrative interface framework for FastAPI and Starlette applications. Prior to 0.16.1, the list API does not validate user-supplied order_by and structured where field names against the configured sortable_fields and searchable_fields allowlists. An authenticated user with access to an affected list endpoint can submit arbitrary field names to starlette_admin/base.py and the BaseModelView validation path, bypassing restrictions presented by the administrative user interface. Requests can sort or filter on fields that are not intended to be sortable or searchable, causing limited information exposure. Invalid field names and special Python attribute names such as metadata and the class dunder attribute can also trigger unhandled exceptions and HTTP 500 responses, causing limited denial of service for targeted requests. This issue is fixed in version 0.16.1.

A vulnerability in mlflow/mlflow versions 3.9.0 and earlier allows unauthenticated access to certain FastAPI routes when the server is started with authentication enabled (`--app-name basic-auth`) and served via uvicorn (ASGI). The FastAPI permission middleware only enforces authentication on `/gateway/` routes, leaving other routes such as the Job API (`/ajax-api/3.0/jobs/*`) and the OpenTelemetry trace ingestion API (`/v1/traces`) unprotected. This allows unauthenticated remote attackers to submit jobs, read job results, cancel running jobs, and inject arbitrary trace data into experiments. The issue arises from an architectural mismatch between Flask and FastAPI authentication mechanisms, where the `_find_fastapi_validator()` function fails to handle non-`/gateway/` paths, resulting in a complete authentication bypass. This vulnerability is fixed in version 3.10.0.

In mlflow/mlflow, the FastAPI job endpoints under `/ajax-api/3.0/jobs/*` are not protected by authentication or authorization when the `basic-auth` app is enabled. This vulnerability affects the latest version of the repository. If job execution is enabled (`MLFLOW_SERVER_ENABLE_JOB_EXECUTION=true`) and any job function is allowlisted, any network client can submit, read, search, and cancel jobs without credentials, bypassing basic-auth entirely. This can lead to unauthenticated remote code execution if allowed jobs perform privileged actions such as shell execution or filesystem changes. Even if jobs are deemed safe, this still constitutes an authentication bypass, potentially resulting in job spam, denial of service (DoS), or data exposure in job results.

Jan 21, 2026FastAPI Api Key provides a backend-agnostic library that provides an API key system.CVE-2026-23996 · Other software · Athroniaeth · reported by GitHubLow 3.7
FastAPI Api Key provides a backend-agnostic library that provides an API key system. Version 1.1.0 has a timing side-channel vulnerability in verify_key(). The method applied a random delay only on verification failures, allowing an attacker to statistically distinguish valid from invalid API keys by measuring response latencies. With enough repeated requests, an adversary could infer whether a key_id corresponds to a valid key, potentially accelerating brute-force or enumeration attacks. All users relying on verify_key() for API key authentication prior to the fix are affected. Users should upgrade to version 1.1.0 to receive a patch. The patch applies a uniform random delay (min_delay to max_delay) to all responses regardless of outcome, eliminating the timing correlation. Some workarounds are available. Add an application-level fixed delay or random jitter to all authentication responses (success and failure) before the fix is applied and/or use rate limiting to reduce the feasibility of statistical timing attacks.

Dec 19, 2025FastAPI Users allows users to quickly add a registration and authentication system to their FastAPI project.CVE-2025-68481 · Other software · fastapi-users · reported by GitHubMedium 5.9
FastAPI Users allows users to quickly add a registration and authentication system to their FastAPI project. Prior to version 15.0.2, the OAuth login state tokens are completely stateless and carry no per-request entropy or any data that could link them to the session that initiated the OAuth flow. `generate_state_token()` is always called with an empty `state_data` dict, so the resulting JWT only contains the fixed audience claim plus an expiration timestamp. On callback, the library merely checks that the JWT verifies under `state_secret` and is unexpired; there is no attempt to match the state value to the browser that initiated the OAuth request, no correlation cookie, and no server-side cache. Any attacker can hit `/authorize`, capture the server-generated state, finish the upstream OAuth flow with their own provider account, and then trick a victim into loading `.../callback?code=<attacker_code>&state=<attacker_state>`. Because the state JWT is valid for any client for \~1 hour, the victim’s browser will complete the flow. This leads to login CSRF. Depending on the app’s logic, the login CSRF can lead to an account takeover of the victim account or to the victim user getting

Dec 19, 2025Versions of the package fastapi-sso before 0.19.0 are vulnerable to Cross-site Request Forgery (CSRF) due to the improper validation of the OAuth state parameteCVE-2025-14546 · Other software · reported by report@snyk.ioMedium 5.4
Versions of the package fastapi-sso before 0.19.0 are vulnerable to Cross-site Request Forgery (CSRF) due to the improper validation of the OAuth state parameter during the authentication callback. While the get_login_url method allows for state generation, it does not persist the state or bind it to the user's session. Consequently, the verify_and_process method accepts the state received in the query parameters without verifying it against a trusted local value. This allows a remote attacker to trick a victim into visiting a malicious callback URL, which can result in the attacker's account being linked to the victim's internal account.

fastapi-guard is a security library for FastAPI that provides middleware to control IPs, log requests, detect penetration attempts and more. In version 3.0.1, the regular expression patched to mitigate the ReDoS vulnerability by limiting the length of string fails to catch inputs that exceed this limit. This type of patch fails to detect cases in which the string representing the attributes of a <script> tag exceeds 100 characters. FastAPI Guard is a security library for FastAPI that provides middleware to control IPs, log requests, and detect penetration attempts. An HTTP header injection vulnerability has been identified in versions prior to 2.0.0. By manipulating the X-Forwarded-For header, an attacker can potentially inject arbitrary IP addresses into the request. This vulnerability can allow attackers to bypass IP-based access controls, mislead logging systems, and impersonate trusted clients. It is especially impactful when the application relies on the X-Forwarded-For header for IP-based authorization or authentication. Users should upgrade to FastAPI Guard version 2.0.0 to receive a fix.

Jul 15, 2024Fastapi OPA is an opensource fastapi middleware which includes auth flow.CVE-2024-40627 · Other software · busykoala · reported by GitHubMedium 5.8
Fastapi OPA is an opensource fastapi middleware which includes auth flow. HTTP `OPTIONS` requests are always allowed by `OpaMiddleware`, even when they lack authentication, and are passed through directly to the application. `OpaMiddleware` allows all HTTP `OPTIONS` requests without evaluating it against any policy. If an application provides different responses to HTTP `OPTIONS` requests based on an entity existing (such as to indicate whether an entity is writable on a system level), an unauthenticated attacker could discover which entities exist within an application. Jun 9, 2021FastAPI is a web framework for building APIs with Python 3.6+ based on standard Python type hints.CVE-2021-32677 · Other software · tiangolo · reported by GitHubHigh 8.2
FastAPI is a web framework for building APIs with Python 3.6+ based on standard Python type hints. FastAPI versions lower than 0.65.2 that used cookies for authentication in path operations that received JSON payloads sent by browsers were vulnerable to a Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) attack. In versions lower than 0.65.2, FastAPI would try to read the request payload as JSON even if the content-type header sent was not set to application/json or a compatible JSON media type (e.g. application/geo+json). A request with a content type of text/plain containing JSON data would be accepted and the JSON data would be extracted. Requests with content type text/plain are exempt from CORS preflights, for being considered Simple requests. The browser will execute them right away including cookies, and the text content could be a JSON string that would be parsed and accepted by the FastAPI application. This is fixed in FastAPI 0.65.2. The request data is now parsed as JSON only if the content-type header is application/json or another JSON compatible media type like application/geo+json. It's best to upgrade to the latest FastAPI, but if updating is not possible then a middleware or a dep
