Oct 28, 2026ESPHome Device Builder Dashboard is a dashboard for the ESPHome home management software.CVE-2026-59177 · Other software · esphome · reported by GitHubHigh 8.8
ESPHome Device Builder Dashboard is a dashboard for the ESPHome home management software. Prior to 1.0.10, the `Home Assistant` add-on's trusted `ingress` site binds to `0.0.0.0` while intentionally skipping dashboard authentication because the supervisor is expected to authenticate requests upstream. Host networking, required for mDNS, also binds this no-auth site to the `Home Assistant` host's LAN interface. Any device on that local network can therefore connect directly to the `ingress` port, bypass the supervisor, and obtain the full dashboard without credentials or operator misconfiguration. Dashboard capability includes compile-time Python execution through `external_components:`, shell execution through compile and validation subprocesses, and arbitrary access to configuration and data files, compromising the mounted `Home Assistant` configuration and managed ESPHome devices. The standalone Docker dashboard and the password-gated public port 6052 are not affected. This issue is fixed in version 1.0.10.

Sep 14, 2026ESPHome Device Builder Dashboard is a dashboard for the ESPHome home management software.CVE-2026-59178 · Other software · esphome · reported by GitHubCritical 9.8
ESPHome Device Builder Dashboard is a dashboard for the ESPHome home management software. Prior to version 1.0.12, the dashboard reads its authentication credentials from `$ESPHOME_USERNAME` and `$ESPHOME_PASSWORD`. Earlier versions, and the legacy `esphome` dashboard, read the bare `$USERNAME` and `$PASSWORD` instead. When the env vars were renamed the bare names were dropped with no fallback, so an operator who had protected their dashboard with `USERNAME` / `PASSWORD` (as the older getting started guide documented) loses authentication on upgrade and the dashboard starts open to anyone who can reach its port. The issue is fixed in 1.0.12. The bare `$USERNAME` / `$PASSWORD` are accepted again as a deprecated fallback so previously protected instances stay protected across the upgrade without operator intervention, with a loud deprecation warning at startup directing operators to rename them to `$ESPHOME_USERNAME` / `$ESPHOME_PASSWORD`. The fallback is gated on `$PASSWORD` being set and is only adopted as a pair, so the OS provided `$USERNAME` is never read on its own and the original collision footgun stays closed. A lone bare `$PASSWORD` with no username still fails loud as a cr

Aug 5, 2026ESPHome through 2026.7.0-dev discloses plaintext passwords via its web_server component.CVE-2026-71260 · Other software · esphome · reported by 309f9ea4-e3e9-4c6c-b79d-e8eb01244f2cMedium 6.5
ESPHome through 2026.7.0-dev discloses plaintext passwords via its web_server component. In WebServer::text_json_ (esphome/components/web_server/web_server.cpp), a text entity configured with mode: password (TEXT_MODE_PASSWORD) has its JSON "state" field correctly masked as "********", but the same serialization path unconditionally writes the raw password into the JSON "value" field via set_json_icon_state_value/set_json_value.

Aug 5, 2026ESPHome through 2026.7.0-dev contains an operator-precedence bug in the cv.url validator in esphome/config_validation.py.CVE-2026-71259 · Other software · esphome · reported by 309f9ea4-e3e9-4c6c-b79d-e8eb01244f2cHigh 8.6
ESPHome through 2026.7.0-dev contains an operator-precedence bug in the cv.url validator in esphome/config_validation.py. Because binds tighter than , any file: URI passes validation regardless of netloc. This validator gates the field of the external_components YAML directive's git source schema, which is passed to (git supports file:// natively).

Jan 19, 2026ESPHome is a system to control microcontrollers remotely through Home Automation systems.CVE-2026-23833 · Other software · esphome · reported by GitHubLow 1.7
ESPHome is a system to control microcontrollers remotely through Home Automation systems. In versions 2025.9.0 through 2025.12.6, an integer overflow in the API component's protobuf decoder allows denial-of-service attacks when API encryption is not used. The bounds check `ptr + field_length > end` in `components/api/proto.cpp` can overflow when a malicious client sends a large `field_length` value. This affects all ESPHome device platforms (ESP32, ESP8266, RP2040, LibreTiny). The overflow bypasses the out-of-bounds check, causing the device to read invalid memory and crash. When using the plaintext API protocol, this attack can be performed without authentication. When noise encryption is enabled, knowledge of the encryption key is required. Users should upgrade to ESPHome 2025.12.7 or later to receive a patch, enable API encryption with a unique key per device, and follow the Security Best Practices.

Sep 1, 2025ESPHome is a system to control microcontrollers remotely through Home Automation systems.CVE-2025-57808 · Other software · esphome · reported by GitHubHigh 8.1
ESPHome is a system to control microcontrollers remotely through Home Automation systems. In version 2025.8.0 in the ESP-IDF platform, ESPHome's web_server authentication check can pass incorrectly when the client-supplied base64-encoded Authorization value is empty or is a substring of the correct value. This allows access to web_server functionality (including OTA, if enabled) without knowing any information about the correct username or password. This issue has been patched in version 2025.8.1.

Apr 10, 2024ESPHome is a system to control microcontrollers remotely through Home Automation systems.CVE-2024-29019 · Other software · esphome · reported by GitHubHigh 8.1
ESPHome is a system to control microcontrollers remotely through Home Automation systems. API endpoints in dashboard component of ESPHome version 2023.12.9 (command line installation) are vulnerable to Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) allowing remote attackers to carry out attacks against a logged user of the dashboard to perform operations on configuration files (create, edit, delete). It is possible for a malicious actor to create a specifically crafted web page that triggers a cross site request against ESPHome, this allows bypassing the authentication for API calls on the platform. This vulnerability allows bypassing authentication on API calls accessing configuration file operations on the behalf of a logged user. In order to trigger the vulnerability, the victim must visit a weaponized page. In addition to this, it is possible to chain this vulnerability with GHSA-9p43-hj5j-96h5/ CVE-2024-27287 to obtain a complete takeover of the user account. Version 2024.3.0 contains a patch for this issue.

Mar 6, 2024ESPHome is a system to control your ESP8266/ESP32 for Home Automation systems.CVE-2024-27287 · Other software · esphome · reported by GitHubMedium 6.5
ESPHome is a system to control your ESP8266/ESP32 for Home Automation systems. Starting in version 2023.12.9 and prior to version 2024.2.2, editing the configuration file API in dashboard component of ESPHome version 2023.12.9 (command line installation and Home Assistant add-on) serves unsanitized data with `Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8`, allowing a remote authenticated user to inject arbitrary web script and exfiltrate session cookies via Cross-Site scripting. It is possible for a malicious authenticated user to inject arbitrary Javascript in configuration files using a POST request to the /edit endpoint, the configuration parameter allows to specify the file to write. To trigger the XSS vulnerability, the victim must visit the page` /edit?configuration=[xss file]`. Abusing this vulnerability a malicious actor could perform operations on the dashboard on the behalf of a logged user, access sensitive information, create, edit and delete configuration files and flash firmware on managed boards. In addition to this, cookies are not correctly secured, allowing the exfiltration of session cookie values. Version 2024.2.2 contains a patch for this issue.
