Oct 23, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fs: don't silently unmount busy mounts The propagate_mount_busy() helper exists to decide CVE-2026-98996 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fs: don't silently unmount busy mounts The propagate_mount_busy() helper exists to decide whether a synchronous can suceed. It does that by looking at the copies of the victims in the mounts its parent propagates to. One of those functions from propagation hell. It skips a copy that has child mounts except for the case of a single child mount covering the copy's root. That algorithm used to be exact. It isn't anymore. Originally only childless copies were unmounted during propagation. And 1064f874abc0 ("mnt: Tuck mounts under others instead of creating shadow/side mounts.") ended up adding covered mounts to both sides in one go. Along came 99b19d16471e ("mnt: In propgate_umount handle visiting mounts in any order") and that started to unmount more than before: [1]: A copy of a mount is unmounted when each of its children is either its overmount or a copy of the victim itself. In the former case the overmount gets reparented. In the latter case the copy of the victim will end up being unmounted. So propagate_umount() ended up being rewritten without adjusting propagate_mount_busy(). And current

Oct 23, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: namespace: handle mount locking for automounts correctly If mounts are propagated across uCVE-2026-98977 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: namespace: handle mount locking for automounts correctly If mounts are propagated across user namespaces, attach_recursive_mnt() locks every copy of the source mount to protect overmounts from vanishing and revealing the underlying files or directories. The user namespace is taken from the caller's mount namespaces since this is where the mounts end up. Except, that's not always true. Automounts may legitimately get popped in by tasks located in a different mount and user namespace during path lookup. Then check doesn't make sense at that point. The copy in the namespace of the parent - which may be the host's - is now locked and the host cannot change the flags of its own mounts anymore. Here's the reproducer: - host has debugfs mounted nosuid, nodev, noexec and shared - tracefs automount below it is not yet active - hand a child process a directory descriptor on that mount - child process enters auser and mount namespace - child process' namespace now holds a locked copy of the host's debugfs mount that receives propagation from it - child process stats "tracing/." through the descriptor - lookup runs on th

Oct 23, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: namespace: keep the lock on a mount that a propagated copy is moved beneath attach_recursiCVE-2026-98976 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.8
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: namespace: keep the lock on a mount that a propagated copy is moved beneath attach_recursive_mnt() transfers MNT_LOCKED from the top mount to the mount that is moved beneath it with MOVE_MOUNT_BENEATH. This allows the owner of a user namespace to replace its locked /proc or its root. The mount beneath takes on the job of covering the underlying mountpoint allowing the top mount to be unmounted. Consider two mount namespaces: (H) The host H has a shared mount P with a secret in P/d (Z) Z is a user namespace made from M. Its copy of P receives propagation from the host's P and its copy of M's cover on P/d is locked Z's owner must not get to see P/d. Now (H) mounts X on P/d. This propagates into (Z). The copy of X lands beneath (Z)'s locked cover. The locked property is transfered from (Z)'s cover to the copy of X propagated beneath it. The cover is now unlocked. Now (H) unmounts X again. The copy of X in (Z) gets unmounted and the covering mount is left unlocked on top of P/d. (Z) can now unmount it: Z: umount2(P/d) = EINVAL /* the cover is locked */ H: mount X on P/d, um

Oct 18, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/imagination: Propagate map failures correctly from pvr_mmu_map_sgl() Map failure from CVE-2026-98522 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/imagination: Propagate map failures correctly from pvr_mmu_map_sgl() Map failure from pvr_mmu_map_sgl() interface was not returned correctly to pvr_mmu_map() interface. Sep 25, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ntfs: propagate reparse index insertion failure update_reparse_data() ignores the return vCVE-2026-98141 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Medium 5.5
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ntfs: propagate reparse index insertion failure update_reparse_data() ignores the return value of set_reparse_index(). When index insertion fails, the code removes the just-written reparse data as cleanup but still returns 0, so symlink(2) (and WSL special file creation) reports success while no reparse data exists on disk. When there was no previous reparse data (oldsize == 0), the failure was likewise silently ignored. Propagate the error to the caller.

Sep 25, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bnxt_en: Propagate RX ring init failures in bnxt_init_nic() bnxt_init_rx_rings() returns aCVE-2026-97572 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bnxt_en: Propagate RX ring init failures in bnxt_init_nic() bnxt_init_rx_rings() returns an error when bnxt_alloc_one_rx_ring() fails, but bnxt_init_nic() discards that return value and calls bnxt_init_chip(), which enables TPA. If an allocation fails, this could leave rxr->rx_tpa[] partially zeroed and TPA would be enabled over an array with zeroed entries. This would lead to a zeroed DMA address being handed out if the agg_idx is translated to a SW index at a zeroed entry. Fix this by propagating the error out of bnxt_init_nic(). Both callers already check its return value and unwind with bnxt_free_skbs() and bnxt_free_mem(), which tolerate a partially initialized RX ring.

Sep 25, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bnxt_en: Propagate TPA buffer allocation failures in bnxt_queue_mem_alloc() bnxt_alloc_oneCVE-2026-97571 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bnxt_en: Propagate TPA buffer allocation failures in bnxt_queue_mem_alloc() bnxt_alloc_one_tpa_info_data() returns -ENOMEM as soon as one allocation fails. This leaves the remaining rxr->rx_tpa[] entries zeroed. bnxt_queue_mem_alloc() discards that return value, so the partially initialized ring is installed by bnxt_queue_start(). Since the agg_id is picked by the hardware and bnxt_alloc_agg_idx maps it to a SW index in rxr->rx_tpa[], it is possible that an uninitialized slot can be chosen which would hand a zero DMA address to the device. Fix this by checking the return value of bnxt_alloc_one_tpa_info_data and unwinding, freeing the ring buffers.

Sep 24, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: powerpc/xive: propagate IPI init errors to prevent use-after-free When xive_init_ipis() faCVE-2026-93260 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.4
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: powerpc/xive: propagate IPI init errors to prevent use-after-free When xive_init_ipis() fails (e.g. irq_domain_alloc_irqs() fails), the error path frees the global xive_ipis array. However, xive_smp_probe() previously ignored this failure and proceeded to call xive_setup_cpu_ipi(), which dereferences the already-freed xive_ipis pointer -- a use-after-free. Now that xive_smp_probe() returns int (previous patch), propagate the error from xive_init_ipis() and xive_setup_cpu_ipi() through xive_smp_probe(). Check the return value in both pnv_smp_probe() and pSeries_smp_probe() so that IPI setup is aborted cleanly on failure, avoiding the use-after-free.

Sep 17, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: hwrng: xilinx-trng - propagate timeout before any data is read xtrng_readblock32() polls fCVE-2026-93157 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: hwrng: xilinx-trng - propagate timeout before any data is read xtrng_readblock32() polls for 16-byte chunks but returns the number of bytes read even when the first poll times out. Its caller then treats a zero return as a short successful read, and partial reads for full 32-byte blocks can make the tail copy use a fixed block offset rather than the amount already produced. Return the poll error when no data has been read, preserve partial positive returns after some data is available, stop the generator on all collection exits, and append tail bytes at the current output count.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: fix slab-out-of-bounds in nilfs_direct_propagate after truncation Shuangpeng Bai reported that KASAN detected a slab-out-of-bounds error in nilfs_direct_propagate() during testing. Analysis revealed that after truncating a file, a node block immediately below the B-tree root was not deleted. Instead, it remained in the B-tree node cache in a dirty state. The log writer subsequently detected this block and incorrectly invoked nilfs_direct_propagate() on it, which is designed to handle only data blocks in direct mapping. B-tree nodes in the cache are managed by virtual block numbers, and their logical keys typically exceed the range expected by direct mapping. Consequently, processing such a node as a direct mapping entry triggers a slab-out-of-bounds access. The root cause is that when a B-tree mapping collapses into a direct mapping during truncation, an intermediate node block pointed to by the root node is left behind as garbage instead of being explicitly deleted. This resolves the issue by adding a nilfs_btree_discard() operation to delete the remaining intermediate node block during the convers

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/dasd: Propagate partial completion length across ERP recovery dasd_default_erp_postaction() copies the timing and device state from the finished ERP request back to the original request but drops proc_bytes. A request that was partially completed, an ESE read of a not-yet-allocated track returns fewer bytes than requested, and then recovered through the ERP chain loses its partial-completion length. __dasd_cleanup_cqr() then sees proc_bytes == 0 and completes the whole request instead of requeueing the remainder, silently returning zeroed data for the part that was never read. Sep 11, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: l2tp: do not propagate multicast notification errors The tunnel create, tunnel modifyCVE-2026-80996 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: l2tp: do not propagate multicast notification errors The tunnel create, tunnel modify, session create, and session modify netlink handlers send multicast notifications through helpers that can fail while allocating or encoding a message, or while multicasting it. For tunnel and session create/modify, a notification is sent after the live operation has completed. Returning a best-effort notification error as the command result can therefore report failure for an operation that already committed and can cause callers to retry and accumulate live objects. Keep sending notifications for listener visibility, but do not propagate their best-effort status as the command result. This also keeps the tunnel modify command consistent with the other notification-only paths.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xfs: propagate errors from xfs_rtginode_load xfs_rtginode_ensure() treats every xfs_rtginode_load() error other than -ENOENT as success. This can leave the realtime group inode unset after an I/O, allocation, or corruption error. Growfs then continues as though the inode had been loaded. Only -ENOENT means that the inode needs to be created. Return all other errors to the growfs caller.

Aug 18, 2026ArcadeDB server (com.arcadedb:arcadedb-server) in versions 26.7.3 and earlier fails to propagate the authenticated principal to asynchronous command worker threCVE-2026-75851 · Other software · ArcadeData · reported by VulnCheckCritical 9.4
ArcadeDB server (com.arcadedb:arcadedb-server) in versions 26.7.3 and earlier fails to propagate the authenticated principal to asynchronous command worker threads. When an HTTP command is submitted with awaitResponse:false, it executes on an async worker whose DatabaseContext has no bound user, causing the scripting authorization gate to become a no-op. A user with only read access to a single database can submit an asynchronous JavaScript (language=js) command via the /api/v1/command endpoint to run code with unrestricted host access (e.g., database.getSecurity().createUser) and create a server-wide administrator, escalating to full administrative control. Fixed in 26.8.1.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: don't propagate EXTENT_FLAG_LOGGING to split extent maps When btrfs_drop_extent_map_range() splits an extent map, the new split maps inherit the original map's flags through a local 'flags' variable. Commit f86f7a75e2fb ("btrfs: use the flags of an extent map to identify the compression type") changed the EXTENT_FLAG_LOGGING clearing to operate on em->flags instead of that local 'flags' copy, so a split of an extent map that is currently being logged wrongly inherits EXTENT_FLAG_LOGGING. The flag is then never cleared on the split, and when it is freed while still on the inode's modified_extents list (for example by the extent map shrinker) it trips the WARN_ON(!list_empty(&em->list)) in btrfs_free_extent_map() and leads to a use-after-free. Clear EXTENT_FLAG_LOGGING from the local 'flags' copy used for the splits and only clear EXTENT_FLAG_PINNED from em->flags, restoring the behaviour prior to f86f7a75e2fb.

Aug 5, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xfrm: iptfs: propagate SKBFL_SHARED_FRAG in iptfs_skb_add_frags() When iptfs_skb_add_fragsCVE-2026-64566 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Critical 9.8
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xfrm: iptfs: propagate SKBFL_SHARED_FRAG in iptfs_skb_add_frags() When iptfs_skb_add_frags() copies frag references from the source frag walk into a new SKB, it increments the page reference count via __skb_frag_ref() but does not propagate SKBFL_SHARED_FRAG to the destination SKB's skb_shinfo->flags. If the source SKB carries shared frags (e.g. from a page-pool backed receive path), the new inner SKB will appear to ESP as having privately owned frags. A subsequent esp_input() call for a nested transport-mode SA then takes the no-COW fast path and decrypts in place, writing over pages that are still referenced by the outer IPTFS SKB. This causes kernel-visible memory corruption and can trigger a panic. All other frag-transfer helpers in the kernel (skb_try_coalesce, skb_gro_receive, __pskb_copy_fclone, skb_shift, skb_segment) correctly propagate SKBFL_SHARED_FRAG; align iptfs_skb_add_frags() with this convention by setting the flag inside the loop immediately after __skb_frag_ref() and nr_frags++, so every exit path that attaches a frag unconditionally propagates SKBFL_SHARED_FRAG.

In Eclipse Vert.x versions up to and including 4.5.29 (4.x branch) and 5.1.4 (5.x branch), DefaultRedirectHandler (vertx-core) propagates all request headers as-is across cross-origin HTTP 30x redirects. Only Content-Length is stripped; no origin comparison (scheme, host, port) is performed before copying headers to the redirect target. As a result, credential headers, including Authorization, Cookie, Proxy-Authorization, and arbitrary custom headers such as X-API-Token, are forwarded to the redirect destination without the caller's knowledge. An attacker who can cause a Vert.x HttpClient to issue a request that is redirected to an attacker-controlled host (for example, by supplying a URL to a webhook dispatcher, image proxy, or microservice URL fetcher) can capture bearer tokens, basic-auth credentials, session cookies, and API keys attached to the original request.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nvmet-tcp: propagate nvmet_tcp_build_pdu_iovec() errors to its callers Currently, when nvmet_tcp_build_pdu_iovec() detects an out-of-bounds PDU length or offset, it triggers nvmet_tcp_fatal_error(cmd->queue) and returns early. However, because the function returns void, the callers are entirely unaware that a fatal error has occurred and that the cmd->recv_msg.msg_iter was left uninitialized. Callers such as nvmet_tcp_handle_h2c_data_pdu() proceed to blindly overwrite the queue state with queue->rcv_state = NVMET_TCP_RECV_DATA Consequently, the socket receiving loop may attempt to read incoming network data into the uninitialized iterator. Fix this by shifting the error handling responsibility to the callers.

Jun 17, 2026Backpropagate is a Python library for fine-tuning large language models on a single GPU.CVE-2026-48797 · Other software · mcp-tool-shop-org · reported by GitHubCritical 9.3
Backpropagate is a Python library for fine-tuning large language models on a single GPU. In versions 1.1.0 and 1.1.1, the optional Reflex web UI exposes a training control plane without authentication: dataset upload, model load, training start/stop, multi-run orchestration, GGUF export, and HuggingFace Hub push. The CLI accepts two operator-facing flags intended as security controls: --auth user:pass — documented as "require HTTP Basic authentication on every request to the UI." and--share — documented as "expose the UI on a public address; requires --auth." When --auth user:pass is passed, the CLI prints Auth: enabled (user: <username>) to confirm to the operator that authentication is active, then exports BACKPROPAGATE_UI_AUTH=user:pass to the subprocess that launches the Reflex backend. The Reflex backend (backpropagate/ui_app/**) never reads BACKPROPAGATE_UI_AUTH. No authentication middleware is registered. No request-level guard runs. No WebSocket upgrade guard runs. Any client that reaches the bound port — local or remote, depending on whether --share is used — has full UI access. An inline comment at backpropagate/cli.py:1217-1218 in the v1.1.0 source documents the gap: "Fo

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: skbuff: propagate shared-frag marker through frag-transfer helpers Two frag-transfer helpers (__pskb_copy_fclone() and skb_shift()) fail to propagate the SKBFL_SHARED_FRAG bit in skb_shinfo()->flags when moving frags from source to destination. __pskb_copy_fclone() defers the rest of the shinfo metadata to skb_copy_header() after copying frag descriptors, but that helper only carries over gso_{size,segs, type} and never touches skb_shinfo()->flags; skb_shift() moves frag descriptors directly and leaves flags untouched. As a result, the destination skb keeps a reference to the same externally-owned or page-cache-backed pages while reporting skb_has_shared_frag() as false. The mismatch is harmful in any in-place writer that uses skb_has_shared_frag() to decide whether shared pages must be detoured through skb_cow_data(). ESP input is one such writer (esp4.c, esp6.c), and a single nft 'dup to <local>' rule -- or any other nf_dup_ipv4() / xt_TEE caller -- is enough to land a pskb_copy()'d skb in esp_input() with the marker stripped, letting an unprivileged user write into the page cache of a root-owned read-

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ceph: do not propagate page array emplacement errors as batch errors When fscrypt is enabled, move_dirty_folio_in_page_array() may fail because it needs to allocate bounce buffers to store the encrypted versions of each folio. Each folio beyond the first allocates its bounce buffer with GFP_NOWAIT. Failures are common (and expected) under this allocation mode; they should flush (not abort) the batch. However, ceph_process_folio_batch() uses the same `rc` variable for its own return code and for capturing the return codes of its routine calls; failing to reset `rc` back to 0 results in the error being propagated out to the main writeback loop, which cannot actually tolerate any errors here: once `ceph_wbc.pages` is allocated, it must be passed to ceph_submit_write() to be freed. If it survives until the next iteration (e.g. due to the goto being followed), ceph_allocate_page_array()'s BUG_ON() will oops the worker. Note that this failure mode is currently masked due to another bug (addressed next in this series) that prevents multiple encrypted folios from being selected for the same write. For now, just reset

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xfs: do not propagate ENODATA disk errors into xattr code ENODATA (aka ENOATTR) has a very specific meaning in the xfs xattr code; namely, that the requested attribute name could not be found. However, a medium error from disk may also return ENODATA. At best, this medium error may escape to userspace as "attribute not found" when in fact it's an IO (disk) error. At worst, we may oops in xfs_attr_leaf_get() when we do: error = xfs_attr_leaf_hasname(args, &bp); if (error == -ENOATTR) { xfs_trans_brelse(args->trans, bp); return error; } because an ENODATA/ENOATTR error from disk leaves us with a null bp, and the xfs_trans_brelse will then null-deref it. As discussed on the list, we really need to modify the lower level IO functions to trap all disk errors and ensure that we don't let unique errors like this leak up into higher xfs functions - many like this should be remapped to EIO. However, this patch directly addresses a reported bug in the xattr code, and should be safe to backport to stable kernels. A larger-scope patch to handle more unique errors at lower levels can follow later. (Note, prior

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: pnode: terminate at peers of source The propagate_mnt() function handles mount propagation when creating mounts and propagates the source mount tree @source_mnt to all applicable nodes of the destination propagation mount tree headed by @dest_mnt. Unfortunately it contains a bug where it fails to terminate at peers of @source_mnt when looking up copies of the source mount that become masters for copies of the source mount tree mounted on top of slaves in the destination propagation tree causing a NULL dereference. Once the mechanics of the bug are understood it's easy to trigger. Because of unprivileged user namespaces it is available to unprivileged users. While fixing this bug we've gotten confused multiple times due to unclear terminology or missing concepts. So let's start this with some clarifications: * The terms "master" or "peer" denote a shared mount. A shared mount belongs to a peer group. * A peer group is a set of shared mounts that propagate to each other. They are identified by a peer group id. The peer group id is available in @shared_mnt->mnt_group_id. Shared mounts within the same pe

Update alloc_dev() to fail if dm_stats_init() does. Otherwise, a NULL pointer dereference will occur in dm_stats_cleanup() even if dm-stats isn't being actively used.

Where this comes from: the exploited list is CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Everything else is the whole National Vulnerability Database, where each record is published by the team that found the bug (Wordfence, Patchstack, WPScan, the vendors themselves and others); we show who. Exploit odds are FIRST’s EPSS, updated daily. Titles and categories are ours, so check the linked record before acting on a detail. For a write-up of the big ones, see our advisories. Every vendor, and every WordPress plugin and theme with a recorded flaw, also has its own page. All of it is free to reuse as JSON, CSV or RSS.
