Sep 15, 2026XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform.CVE-2026-53966 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubHigh 7.1
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform. From 13.4-rc-1 until 16.10.17, 17.4.10, 17.10.4, and 18.1.0-rc-1, the Live Data edit REST API allows a user who can edit a page to change that page's rights without executing the normal document-saving authorization checks. The user can grant script right and then execute potentially dangerous Velocity scripts or send unfiltered HTML and JavaScript to clients. The same missing checks can circumvent extension security controls implemented as listeners for UserUpdatingDocumentEvent and related user document events. This issue is fixed in versions 16.10.17, 17.4.10, 17.10.4, and 18.1.0-rc-1.

Sep 14, 2026XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform.CVE-2026-34151 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubHigh 8.2
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform. Prior to 17.10.5 and 18.2.0, the /skin/ action in com.xpn.xwiki.web.SkinAction can resolve double-encoded parent-directory segments outside the intended skin or web-application resource prefix when Jetty 12 or later decodes the request path. The affected lookup is replaced with Environment.getResourceAsStream(String, String), which constrains a resource to its expected prefix. An unauthenticated remote attacker can use the vulnerable behavior to read arbitrary resources permitted to the Jetty process, including WEB-INF/xwiki.cfg and, depending on deployment depth and operating-system permissions, host files. Tomcat and Jetty versions before 12 do not appear affected. This issue is fixed in versions 17.10.5 and 18.2.0.

Aug 10, 2026XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform.CVE-2026-48048 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubHigh 7.5
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform. XWiki discovered that the patch for GHSA-5cf8-vrr8-8hjm was insufficient. Starting with version 6.2.1 and prior to versions 18.0.0RC1, 17.10.13, 17.4.9 and 16.10.17, with slightly modified parameters to the `LiveTableResults`, it is still possible to discover password hashes one bit at a time, so with 768 requests, the full password salt and hash can be retrieved of a user. The check for password (and email properties) has been adjusted in XWiki 18.0.0RC1, 17.10.13, 17.4.9 and 16.10.17. As a workaround, the patch can be applied manually to the wiki page `XWiki.LiveTableResultsMacros`.

Aug 7, 2026XWiki Platform WebJars API is a package for XWiki, a generic wiki platform.CVE-2026-48047 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubMedium 5.9
XWiki Platform WebJars API is a package for XWiki, a generic wiki platform. Starting with version 9.6-rc-1 and prior to versions 16.10.17, 17.4.9, and 17.10.3, a potential path traversal vulnerability allow an attacker who manages to get a malicious WebJar extension installed on the wiki to write arbitrary files. While the consequences could be severe like overriding configuration files and setting the superadmin password, the attack first requires that the attacker already has admin access to at least a subwiki to be able to install a malicious extension. Further, the attacker needs to publish a malicious extension in an extension repository that is configured in the instance. This vulnerability has been patched in XWiki 16.10.17, 17.4.9, 17.10.3, and 18.0.0RC1. XWiki is not aware of any workarounds except for being careful whom developers grant script and admin rights to.

Apr 8, 2026XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it.CVE-2026-33229 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubHigh 8.6
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it. Prior to 17.4.8 and 17.10.1, an improperly protected scripting API allows any user with script right to bypass the sandboxing of the Velocity scripting API and execute, e.g., arbitrary Python scripts, allowing full access to the XWiki instance and thereby compromising the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the whole instance. Note that script right already constitutes a high level of access that we don't recommend giving to untrusted users. This vulnerability is fixed in 17.4.8 and 17.10.1.

Mar 4, 2026The XWiki blog application allows users of the XWiki platform to create and manage blog posts.CVE-2025-66024 · Other software · xwiki-contrib · reported by GitHubHigh 8.6
The XWiki blog application allows users of the XWiki platform to create and manage blog posts. Versions starting with 9.15 and prior to 9.15.7 are vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) via the Blog Post Title. The vulnerability arises because the post title is injected directly into the HTML <title> tag without proper escaping. An attacker with permissions to create or edit blog posts can inject malicious JavaScript into the title field. This script will execute in the browser of any user (including administrators) who views the blog post. This leads to potential session hijacking or privilege escalation. The vulnerability has been patched in the blog application version 9.15.7 by adding missing escaping. No known workarounds are available.

XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it. Versions 7.0-milestone-2 through 16.10.11, 17.0.0-rc-1 through 17.4.4, and 17.5.0-rc-1 through 17.7.0 contain a reflected Cross-site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability, which allows an attacker to craft a malicious URL and execute arbitrary actions with the same privileges as the victim. If the victim has administrative or programming rights, those rights can be exploited to gain full access to the XWiki installation. This issue has been patched in versions 17.8.0-rc-1, 17.4.5 and 16.10.12. To workaround, the patch can be applied manually, only a single line in templates/logging_macros.vm needs to be changed, no restart is required.

Oct 6, 2025XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it.CVE-2025-52472 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubCritical 9.3
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it. Starting in version 4.3-milestone-1 and prior to versions 16.10.9, 17.4.2, and 17.5.0, the REST search URL is vulnerable to HQL injection via the `orderField` parameter. The specified value is added twice in the query, though, once in the field list for the select and once in the order clause, so it's not that easy to exploit. The part of the query between the two fields can be enclosed in single quotes to effectively remove them, but the query still needs to remain valid with the query two times in it. This has been patched in versions 17.5.0, 17.4.2, and 16.10.9. No known workarounds are available.

Sep 8, 2025The XWiki blog application allows users of the XWiki platform to create and manage blog posts.CVE-2025-58365 · Other software · xwiki-contrib · reported by GitHubHigh 8.7
The XWiki blog application allows users of the XWiki platform to create and manage blog posts. Prior to version 9.14, the blog application in XWiki allowed remote code execution for any user who has edit right on any page. Normally, these are all logged-in users as they can edit their own user profile. For an exploit, it is sufficient to add an object of type `Blog.BlogPostClass` to any page and to add some script macro with the exploit code to the "Content" field of that object. The vulnerability has been patched in the blog application version 9.14 by executing the content of blog posts with the rights of the appropriate author. No known workarounds are available.

XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it. XWiki Platform Legacy Old Core and XWiki Platform Old Core versions 9.8-rc-1 through 16.4.6, 16.5.0-rc-1 through 16.10.4, and 17.0.0-rc-1 through 17.1.0, any user with editing rights can create an XClass with a database list property that references a password property. When adding an object of that XClass, the content of that password property is displayed. In practice, with a standard rights setup, this means that any user with an account on the wiki can access password hashes of all users, and possibly other password properties (with hashed or plain storage) that are on pages that the user can view. This issue is fixed in versions 16.4.7, 16.10.5 and 17.2.0-rc-1.

Jul 26, 2025XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it.CVE-2025-54385 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubHigh 8.6
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it. In versions between 17.0.0-rc1 to 17.2.2 and versions 16.10.5 and below, it's possible to execute any SQL query in Oracle by using the function like DBMS_XMLGEN or DBMS_XMLQUERY. The XWiki#searchDocuments APIs pass queries directly to Hibernate without sanitization. Even when these APIs enforce a specific SELECT clause, attackers can still inject malicious code through HQL's native function support in other parts of the query (such as the WHERE clause). This is fixed in versions 16.10.6 and 17.3.0-rc-1.

Apr 16, 2025XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform.CVE-2025-32783 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubMedium 4.7
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform. A vulnerability in versions from 5.0 to 16.7.1 affects users with Message Stream enabled and a wiki configured as closed from selecting "Prevent unregistered users to view pages" in the Administrations Rights. The vulnerability is that any message sent in a subwiki to "everyone" is actually sent to the farm: any visitor of the main wiki will be able to see that message through the Dashboard, even if the subwiki is configured to be private. This issue will not be patched as Message Stream has been deprecated in XWiki 16.8.0RC1 and is not maintained anymore. A workaround for this issue involves keeping Message Stream disabled by default. It's advised to keep it disabled from Administration > Social > Message Stream.

Mar 19, 2025XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform.CVE-2025-29925 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubHigh 8.7
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform. Prior to 15.10.14, 16.4.6, and 16.10.0-rc-1, protected pages are listed when requesting the REST endpoints /rest/wikis/[wikiName]/pages even if the user doesn't have view rights on them. It's particularly true if the entire wiki is protected with "Prevent unregistered user to view pages": the endpoint would still list the pages of the wiki, though only for the main wiki. The problem has been patched in XWiki 15.10.14, 16.4.6, 16.10.0RC1. In those versions the endpoint can still be requested but the result is filtered out based on pages rights.

Jan 14, 2025XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it.CVE-2025-23025 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubCritical 9
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it. NOTE: The Realtime WYSIWYG Editor extension was **experimental**, and thus **not recommended**, in the versions affected by this vulnerability. It has become enabled by default, and thus recommended, starting with XWiki 16.9.0. A user with only **edit right** can join a realtime editing session where others, that where already there or that may join later, have **script** or **programming** access rights. This user can then insert **script rendering macros** that are executed for those users in the realtime session that have script or programming rights. The inserted scripts can be used to gain more access rights. This vulnerability has been patched in XWiki 15.10.2, 16.4.1 and 16.6.0-rc-1. Users are advised to upgrade. Users unable to upgrade may either disable the realtime WYSIWYG editing by disabling the ``xwiki-realtime`` CKEditor plugin from the WYSIWYG editor administration section or uninstall the Realtime WYSIWYG Editorextension (org.xwiki.platform:xwiki-platform-realtime-wysiwyg-ui).

This compromises the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the whole XWiki installation. This vulnerability has been fixed in XWiki 15.10.11, 16.4.1 and 16.5.0. It is possible to manually apply the patch to the page `XWiki.XWikiSyntaxMacrosList` as a workaround.

Dec 12, 2024XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform.CVE-2024-55876 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubMedium 5.4
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform. Starting in version 1.2-milestone-2 and prior to versions 15.10.9 and 16.3.0, any user with an account on the main wiki could run scheduling operations on subwikis. To reproduce, as a user on the main wiki without any special right, view the document `Scheduler.WebHome` in a subwiki. Then, click on any operation (*e.g.,* Trigger) on any job. If the operation is successful, then the instance is vulnerable. This has been patched in XWiki 15.10.9 and 16.3.0. As a workaround, those who have subwikis where the Job Scheduler is enabled can edit the objects on `Scheduler.WebPreferences` to match the patch.

Dec 12, 2024XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform.CVE-2024-55663 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubHigh 8.6
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform. Starting in version 6.3-milestone-2 and prior to versions 13.10.5 and 14.3-rc-1, in `getdocument.vm`; the ordering of the returned documents is defined from an unsanitized request parameter (request.sort) and can allow any user to inject HQL. Depending on the used database backend, the attacker may be able to not only obtain confidential information such as password hashes from the database, but also execute UPDATE/INSERT/DELETE queries. This has been patched in 13.10.5 and 14.3-rc-1. There is no known workaround, other than upgrading XWiki.

Dec 12, 2024XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform.CVE-2024-55662 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubCritical 9.9
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform. Starting in version 3.3-milestone-1 and prior to versions 15.10.9 and 16.3.0, on instances where `Extension Repository Application` is installed, any user can execute any code requiring `programming` rights on the server. This vulnerability has been fixed in XWiki 15.10.9 and 16.3.0. Since `Extension Repository Application` is not mandatory, it can be safely disabled on instances that do not use it as a workaround. It is also possible to manually apply the patches from commit 8659f17d500522bf33595e402391592a35a162e8 to the page `ExtensionCode.ExtensionSheet` and to the page `ExtensionCode.ExtensionAuthorsDisplayer`.

Sep 18, 2024XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it.CVE-2024-46979 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubMedium 5.3
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it. It's possible to get access to notification filters of any user by using a URL such as `<hostname>xwiki/bin/get/XWiki/Notifications/Code/NotificationFilterPreferenceLivetableResults?outputSyntax=plain&type=custom&user=<username>`. This vulnerability impacts all versions of XWiki since 13.2-rc-1. The filters do not provide much information (they mainly contain references which are public data in XWiki), though some info could be used in combination with other vulnerabilities. This vulnerability has been patched in XWiki 14.10.21, 15.5.5, 15.10.1, 16.0RC1. The patch consists in checking the rights of the user when sending the data. Users are advised to upgrade. It's possible to workaround the vulnerability by applying manually the patch: it's possible for an administrator to edit directly the document `XWiki.Notifications.Code.NotificationFilterPreferenceLivetableResults` to apply the same changes as in the patch. See commit c8c6545f9bde6f5aade994aa5b5903a67b5c2582.

XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it. It's possible for any user knowing the ID of a notification filter preference of another user, to enable/disable it or even delete it. The impact is that the target user might start loosing notifications on some pages because of this. This vulnerability is present in XWiki since 13.2-rc-1. This vulnerability has been patched in XWiki 14.10.21, 15.5.5, 15.10.1, 16.0-rc-1. The patch consists in checking properly the rights of the user before performing any action on the filters. Users are advised to upgrade. It's possible to fix manually the vulnerability by editing the document `XWiki.Notifications.Code.NotificationPreferenceService` to apply the changes performed in commit e8acc9d8e6af7dfbfe70716ded431642ae4a6dd4.

Sep 10, 2024XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform.CVE-2024-45591 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubMedium 5.3
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform. The REST API exposes the history of any page in XWiki of which the attacker knows the name. The exposed information includes for each modification of the page the time of the modification, the version number, the author of the modification (both username and displayed name) and the version comment. This information is exposed regardless of the rights setup, and even when the wiki is configured to be fully private. On a private wiki, this can be tested by accessing /xwiki/rest/wikis/xwiki/spaces/Main/pages/WebHome/history, if this shows the history of the main page then the installation is vulnerable. This has been patched in XWiki 15.10.9 and XWiki 16.3.0RC1.

Jul 31, 2024XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it.CVE-2024-37900 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubMedium 6.4
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it. When uploading an attachment with a malicious filename, malicious JavaScript code could be executed. This requires a social engineering attack to get the victim into uploading a file with a malicious name. The malicious code is solely executed during the upload and affects only the user uploading the attachment. While this allows performing actions in the name of that user, it seems unlikely that a user wouldn't notice the malicious filename while uploading the attachment. This has been patched in XWiki 14.10.21, 15.5.5, 15.10.6 and 16.0.0.

Jul 31, 2024XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it.CVE-2024-37898 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubMedium 4.3
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it. When a user has view but not edit right on a page in XWiki, that user can delete the page and replace it by a page with new content without having delete right. The previous version of the page is moved into the recycle bin and can be restored from there by an admin. As the user is recorded as deleter, the user would in theory also be able to view the deleted content, but this is not directly possible as rights of the previous version are transferred to the new page and thus the user still doesn't have view right on the page. It therefore doesn't seem to be possible to exploit this to gain any rights. This has been patched in XWiki 14.10.21, 15.5.5 and 15.10.6 by cancelling save operations by users when a new document shall be saved despite the document's existing already.

XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it. The content of a document included using `{{include reference="targetdocument"/}}` is executed with the right of the includer and not with the right of its author. This means that any user able to modify the target document can impersonate the author of the content which used the `include` macro. This vulnerability has been patched in XWiki 15.0 RC1 by making the default behavior safe.

Jun 20, 2024XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it.CVE-2024-37899 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubCritical 9
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it. When an admin disables a user account, the user's profile is executed with the admin's rights. This allows a user to place malicious code in the user profile before getting an admin to disable the user account. To reproduce, as a user without script nor programming rights, edit the about section of your user profile and add `{{groovy}}services.logging.getLogger("attacker").error("Hello from Groovy!"){{/groovy}}`. As an admin, go to the user profile and click the "Disable this account" button. Then, reload the page. If the logs show `attacker - Hello from Groovy!` then the instance is vulnerable. This has been patched in XWiki 14.10.21, 15.5.5, 15.10.6 and 16.0.0. Users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability. ### Workarounds We're not aware of any workaround except upgrading. ### References * https://jira.xwiki.org/browse/XWIKI-21611 * https://github.com/xwiki/xwiki-platform/commit/f89c8f47fad6e5cc7e68c69a7e0acde07f5eed5a

Apr 10, 2024XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform.CVE-2024-31997 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubCritical 9.9
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform. Prior to versions 4.10.19, 15.5.4, and 15.10-rc-1, parameters of UI extensions are always interpreted as Velocity code and executed with programming rights. Any user with edit right on any document like the user's own profile can create UI extensions. This allows remote code execution and thereby impacts the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the whole XWiki installation. This vulnerability has been patched in XWiki 14.10.19, 15.5.4 and 15.9-RC1. No known workarounds are available.

Apr 10, 2024XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform.CVE-2024-31996 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubCritical 10
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform. Starting in version 3.0.1 and prior to versions 4.10.19, 15.5.4, and 15.10-rc-1, the HTML escaping of escaping tool that is used in XWiki doesn't escape `{`, which, when used in certain places, allows XWiki syntax injection and thereby remote code execution. The vulnerability has been fixed in XWiki 14.10.19, 15.5.5, and 15.9 RC1. Apart from upgrading, there is no generic workaround. However, replacing `$escapetool.html` by `$escapetool.xml` in XWiki documents fixes the vulnerability. In a standard XWiki installation, the maintainers are only aware of the document `Panels.PanelLayoutUpdate` that exposes this vulnerability, patching this document is thus a workaround. Any extension could expose this vulnerability and might thus require patching, too.

XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform. Starting in version 13.9-rc-1 and prior to versions 4.10.19, 15.5.4, and 15.10-rc-1, when the realtime editor is installed in XWiki, it allows arbitrary remote code execution with the interaction of an admin user with programming right. More precisely, by getting an admin user to either visit a crafted URL or to view an image with this URL that could be in a comment, the attacker can get the admin to execute arbitrary XWiki syntax including scripting macros with Groovy or Python code. This compromises the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the whole XWiki installation. This vulnerability has been patched in XWiki 14.10.19, 15.5.4 and 15.9. As a workaround, one may update `RTFrontend.ConvertHTML` manually with the patch. This will, however, break some synchronization processes in the realtime editor, so upgrading should be the preferred way on installations where this editor is used.
