  • Oct 23, 2026A local privilege escalation vulnerability in the optional dnscache package of Zimbra Collaboration Suite (ZCS) allows the Unix zimbra account to access files wCVE-2026-93640 · Email & office · Zimbra · reported by cve@rapid7.comHigh 7.8

A local privilege escalation vulnerability in the optional dnscache package of Zimbra Collaboration Suite (ZCS) allows the Unix zimbra account to access files with root privileges. The passwordless sudo policy permits arbitrary arguments to zmunbound, whose wrapper forwards them to Unbound without restricting the configuration path. An attacker can supply a configuration that retains root privileges and disables the chroot. Include directives expose root-readable file contents through parser errors, while an attacker-selected logfile path creates a root-owned file or appends Unbound log records to an existing file. This can disclose password hashes and private keys and corrupt privileged configuration files, preventing affected services from starting with the modified configuration. The affected configuration is present in ZCS 10.1.16 and 10.1.21 dnscache packages.

  • Oct 23, 2026A local privilege escalation vulnerability in the Zimbra Collaboration Suite (ZCS) MTA package allows the Unix zimbra account to execute arbitrary commands as rCVE-2026-50057 · Email & office · Zimbra · reported by cve@rapid7.comHigh 7.8

A local privilege escalation vulnerability in the Zimbra Collaboration Suite (ZCS) MTA package allows the Unix zimbra account to execute arbitrary commands as root. The installed sudo policy permits passwordless root execution of Postfix administration commands without restricting their arguments. An attacker can select a zimbra-controlled daemon_directory in the Postfix configuration and invoke postfix set-permissions, causing Postfix to execute the attacker's post-install program as root. The Postfix configuration directory is also writable by zimbra, so restricting postconf alone does not remove the execution path. Exploitation requires local command execution as zimbra on an MTA node. ZCS 10.1.16 and 10.1.21 are affected.

  • Oct 23, 2026A local privilege escalation vulnerability in the zmmailboxdmgr launcher of Zimbra Collaboration Suite (ZCS) allows the Unix zimbra account to execute arbitraryCVE-2026-50056 · Email & office · Zimbra · reported by cve@rapid7.comHigh 7.8

A local privilege escalation vulnerability in the zmmailboxdmgr launcher of Zimbra Collaboration Suite (ZCS) allows the Unix zimbra account to execute arbitrary commands as root. The passwordless sudo interface accepts JVM arguments that are not adequately restricted. An attacker can postpone Jetty's privilege drop, register an OnOutOfMemoryError command and force heap exhaustion during startup, causing the command to execute while the JVM still runs as root. Exploitation requires local command execution as zimbra on a mailbox server and interrupts mailboxd during the malicious restart. ZCS 10.1.16 and 10.1.21 are affected.

  • Oct 15, 2026OpenPrinting CUPS is an open source printing system for Linux and other Unix-like operating systems.CVE-2026-61702 · Other software · OpenPrinting · reported by GitHubMedium 5.3

OpenPrinting CUPS is an open source printing system for Linux and other Unix-like operating systems. Prior to 2.4.20, copy_banner() in scheduler/ipp.c uses the attacker-controlled IPP attributes-natural-language value as a directory component beneath DataDir/banners when processing a job-sheets banner. The job-sheets value must first match a registered banner basename, and the traversed path must contain a matching reachable basename; selecting an arbitrary target as demonstrated additionally requires pre-positioned path state such as a symlink with that basename. Subject to the scheduler's filesystem and sandbox access, path separators in the language value can escape the intended banner directory, make the root scheduler open the reachable file, and copy its bytes into a job-sheet spool object that a configured backend can deliver to an attacker-observable endpoint. This issue is fixed in version 2.4.20.

  • Oct 15, 2026OpenPrinting CUPS is an open source printing system for Linux and other Unix-like operating systems.CVE-2026-55480 · Other software · OpenPrinting · reported by GitHubMedium 5.7

OpenPrinting CUPS is an open source printing system for Linux and other Unix-like operating systems. Prior to 2.4.20, copy_model() in scheduler/ipp.c creates a predictable TempDir/<connection-number>.ppd path in an lp-group-writable directory and opens it as root without O_EXCL or O_NOFOLLOW. Exploitation requires an lp-group process able to write that directory to predict the connection-derived name and plant a symlink before the root open, while a privileged add-printer or modify-printer operation using a model PPD triggers copy_model(). The reporter treats an existing lp foothold and the privileged operation as distinct prerequisites, while the maintainer assesses high privileges because installing the relevant filter or administering the printer requires root or print-administrator access. If the race succeeds, the root scheduler follows the symlink and truncates or overwrites a root-writable target with generated PPD data, compromising file integrity or availability. This issue is fixed in version 2.4.20.

  • Oct 15, 2026OpenPrinting CUPS is an open source printing system for Linux and other Unix-like operating systems.CVE-2026-55467 · Other software · OpenPrinting · reported by GitHubLow 2.5

OpenPrinting CUPS is an open source printing system for Linux and other Unix-like operating systems. Prior to 2.4.20, the cupsdCreateJob option-string builder in scheduler/job.c maps attacker-controlled destination-uri and pre-dial-string values from a configured fax queue to the phone and faxPrefix options. Unlike ordinary IPP job attributes, these mapped fax values bypass the control-character sanitizer and are copied directly into the filter options argument. A user permitted to submit a job can therefore inject control characters into the downstream option stream. The reporter states that a downstream fax filter passing these values to a shell or modem command could execute code as lp, while the maintainer states that CUPS has no confidentiality or integrity impact because the only known code-executing filter is optional Foomatic and addressed separately, leaving possible disruption of the affected queue. This issue is fixed in version 2.4.20.

  • Oct 15, 2026OpenPrinting CUPS is an open source printing system for Linux and other Unix-like operating systems.CVE-2026-55453 · Other software · OpenPrinting · reported by GitHubLow 3.3

OpenPrinting CUPS is an open source printing system for Linux and other Unix-like operating systems. Prior to 2.4.20, the backend/ipp.c quote_string() function preserves carriage-return and line-feed characters in a remote printer-controlled marker-message before report_attr() writes the value to the scheduler status stream. The scheduler can parse an injected newline as a separate PPD: control line and persist an attacker-selected PPD keyword. The reporter demonstrated that a later print job on a Foomatic-backed queue could consume an injected FoomaticRIPCommandLine value and execute in the filter context as lp. This issue is fixed in version 2.4.20.

The `github.com/moby/sys/user` package provides Go utilities for parsing and looking up entries in Unix-style user and group database files. Versions before 0.4.1 do not sufficiently limit entries when parsing `/etc/passwd`- or `/etc/group`-style files, allowing an attacker who can supply a specially crafted file to cause excessive memory consumption and potentially terminate the affected process due to an out-of-memory condition. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: af_unix: Unify scc_index when finalising SCC in __unix_walk_scc(). Commit bfdb01283ee8 ("af_unix: Assign a unique index to SCC.") changed Tarjan's algorithm to update lowlink with lowlink, which is called lowpoint (unix_vertex.scc_index). unix_vertex_dead() assumes all vertices in an SCC share the same lowpoint, but this is not always true if an SCC has two or more back edges, depending on the order of DFS. For example, the graph below has two back edges from B to A and from C to B. A --> B --> C ^ | ^ | `----' `----' If DFS walks through A -> B -> C -> B (-> C -> B) -> A (-> B -> A), each index and scc_index will be updated as follows. A = (1, 1) -' Then, unix_vertex_dead() thinks that B is passed to another SCC with scc_index 2, and the SCC is not garbage-collected. This does not happen if DFS walks in a dif

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: af_unix: Update last skb marker in manage_oob(). Fahad Alharbi reported that blocking recv(MSG_PEEK) could hog CPU due to OOB skb. In the following cases, manage_oob() skips OOB skb(s) and returns NULL for the last recv(MSG_PEEK): socketpair(AF_UNIX, SOCK_STREAM, 0, sk); 1) skb -> OOB skb -> NULL send(sk[0], "ab", 2, MSG_OOB); recv(sk[1], buf, 0, MSG_PEEK); 2) skb -> consumed OOB skb -> NULL send(sk[0], "ab", 2, MSG_OOB); recv(sk[1], buf, 1, MSG_OOB); recv(sk[1], buf, 0, MSG_PEEK); 3) consumed OOB skb -> OOB skb -> NULL send(sk[0], "a", 1, MSG_OOB); recv(sk[1], buf, 0, MSG_OOB); send(sk[0], "b", 1, MSG_OOB); recv(sk[1], buf, 1, MSG_PEEK); Then, @copied is 0 in unix_stream_read_generic() (zero-length buffer, or non-OOB skb is not yet consumed), and unix_stream_data_wait() is called. However, it returns immediately because @last is not updated in unix_stream_read_generic(), and the thread busy-waits for a new skb. Let's update @last in manage_oob(). The client-side field level encryption support in the MongoDB Python Driver can treat a key management endpoint value ending in ".sock" as a local Unix domain socket path rather than a remote host. A user with write access to the encryption key metadata stored in the database can cause an application using the driver to open connections to local sockets on the application host. Data sent over these connections is limited to the start of a TLS handshake, so no chosen content is transmitted.

radare2 is a UNIX-like reverse engineering framework and command-line toolset. Prior to 6.2.0, radare2's Windows 64-bit crash-dump dmp64 parser was vulnerable because the Windows dmp64 parser used an input-controlled physical-memory-run PageCount directly as the bound of a per-page allocation loop. The vulnerability is triggered by opening a small crafted full-memory Windows crash dump. The parser repeatedly allocated and appended page descriptors without validating the count against the dump size. This can cause denial of service through excessive memory consumption and processing time. This issue is fixed in version 6.2.0.

radare2 is a UNIX-like reverse engineering framework and command-line toolset. Prior to 6.2.0, radare2's NE relocation fixup-chain parser was vulnerable because the NE relocation parser followed fixup chains without an active iteration limit or cycle detection. The vulnerability is triggered by opening a crafted NE executable whose in-bounds relocation entry points back to itself instead of reaching 0xffff. The parser repeatedly processed the same relocation and allocated another relocation object on each iteration. This can cause denial of service through continuous CPU and memory consumption. This issue is fixed in version 6.2.0.

radare2 is a UNIX-like reverse engineering framework and command-line toolset. Prior to 6.2.0, radare2's Mach-O LC_DATA_IN_CODE parser was vulnerable because the Mach-O LC_DATA_IN_CODE parser trusted dataoff and datasize and allowed a final partial record to be processed. The vulnerability is triggered by opening a crafted Mach-O file while the non-default bin.verbose option is enabled. When datasize was not a multiple of data_in_code_entry, the last iteration read beyond the allocated buffer. This can cause a heap out-of-bounds read and possible process termination; no attacker-observable memory disclosure has been demonstrated. This issue is fixed in version 6.2.0.

radare2 is a UNIX-like reverse engineering framework and command-line toolset. Prior to 6.2.0, radare2's Lua 5.3 bytecode function parser was vulnerable because the Lua 5.3 bytecode function parser read fixed function-metadata fields immediately after a function-name string without checking the remaining buffer length. The vulnerability is triggered by opening or inspecting a crafted Lua 5.3 bytecode file whose function-name string ends at the input-buffer boundary. The parser read two integers and three one-byte fields beyond the allocated input buffer. This can cause invalid parser results or process termination; no attacker-observable memory disclosure has been demonstrated. This issue is fixed in version 6.2.0.

radare2 is a UNIX-like reverse engineering framework and command-line toolset. Prior to 6.2.0, radare2's binary property-list Unicode parser was vulnerable because the binary-property-list Unicode parser underallocated an uninitialized UTF-8 destination and did not guarantee NUL termination. The vulnerability is triggered by running the explicit pFB or pFBj commands on untrusted binary property-list data. The json encoder treated the converted data as a nul-terminated c string and could continue reading beyond the allocation. This can cause disclosure of uninitialized or adjacent heap contents in JSON output and possible process termination. This issue is fixed in version 6.2.0.

Prior to 6.2.0, radare2's Mach-O Swift field-metadata parser was vulnerable because a relative Swift field pointer could be lower than the field-metadata section base, making subtraction produce a negative logical index. The vulnerability is triggered by parsing Swift type and class metadata from a crafted Mach-O file. Prior to 6.2.0, radare2's Apple Preferred Executable Format loader was vulnerable because the PEF loader accepted relocSecCount values that were not bounded by the number of sections or complete relocation records in the input. The vulnerability is triggered by normal binary-format auto-detection of a small crafted Apple PEF file. The loader could perform up to 268,435,456 relocation-section iterations and repeated buffer operations after record offsets passed the end of the file. radare2 is a UNIX-like reverse engineering framework and command-line toolset. Prior to 6.2.0, radare2's CPython bytecode .pyc marshal parser was vulnerable because the CPython marshal readers accepted a 32-bit string length without rejecting values that overflow the size-plus-one allocation. The vulnerability is triggered by opening or inspecting a crafted .pyc file through r2 or rabin2. A length of 0xffffffff wrapped the allocation to zero before the common byte reader wrote attacker-controlled data and fill bytes beyond the heap allocation. BPF_CGROUP_UNIX_GETPEERNAME and BPF_CGROUP_UNIX_GETSOCKNAME run BPF programs without acquiring the socket lock. A program attached to either hook can therefore trigger the sock_owned_by_me() warning by calling bpf_setsockopt() or bpf_getsockopt(). • Aug 31, 2026Subject::new_for_owner() in the zbus_polkit crate encodes the uid entry of a unix-process polkit subject as an unsigned 32-bit integer (D-Bus type u), whereas tCVE-2026-78422 · Other software · z-galaxy · reported by meissner@suse.deHigh 7.3

Subject::new_for_owner() in the zbus_polkit crate encodes the uid entry of a unix-process polkit subject as an unsigned 32-bit integer (D-Bus type u), whereas the org.freedesktop.PolicyKit1.Authority interface specifies a signed 32-bit integer (D-Bus type i). Because of this type mismatch, polkit silently discards the caller-supplied UID and instead determines the subject's owner itself by looking up the PID in /proc, a lookup that is inherently subject to a time-of-check/time-of-use race. Consequently, an application that passes a UID obtained from a trustworthy source — for example SO_PEERCRED Unix socket peer credentials — in order to defend against PID reuse receives no protection, and the supplied UID has no effect on the authorization decision. A local unprivileged attacker who can cause an authorized process to terminate and then win the race to have their own process assigned the same PID can be authorized under the identity of the terminated process, bypassing the polkit authorization check and performing actions the attacker is not entitled to. This issue affects zbus_polkit before 5.1.0.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: af_unix: Unlink scc_entry in unix_del_edge(). Kyle Zeng reported that GC could free a dead SCC partially. The scenario is as follows: 1) Create two SCCs: X -. A <-> B ^--' 2) Run the following concurrently: 2-1) send() sk-B to sk-B from sk-X 2-2) close() both A and B At 2-1), there is a small window where unix_add_edges() publishes a new edge (B <-> B) to GC but its skb is not queued by skb_queue_tail(). If 2-2) completes before skb_queue_tail() and GC is triggered, it judges A <-> B as dead, but B is not freed because GC cannot collect the not-yet-queued skb holding the B <-> B edge. X -. A <-> B -. This edge is visible ^--' ^..' but skb is not This itself is not a problem since the next GC run will judge B as dead as well and free it finally. X -. A <.> B -. ^--' ^--' However, X's SCC forces the next GC to call unix_walk_scc_fast(), and it iterates over A through B's scc_entry. Let's unlink scc_entry before freeing the vertex in unix_del_edge().
