  • Oct 21, 2026The pfSense REST API package is an unofficial, open-source REST and GraphQL API for pfSense CE and pfSense Plus firewalls.CVE-2026-113779 · Other software · pfrest · reported by GitHubHigh 8.8

The pfSense REST API package is an unofficial, open-source REST and GraphQL API for pfSense CE and pfSense Plus firewalls. A privilege escalation vulnerability in pfSense-pkg-RESTAPI prior to version 2.9.0 allows authenticated accounts holding the dedicated settings sync permission to modify REST API configuration secrets. This enables a non-administrative user to elevate their privileges to a full administrator. pfSense-pkg-RESTAPI 2.9.0 patches the issue. Access to the HA settings sync endpoint now strictly requires full administrative privileges (`page-all`). The sub-administrative sync privilege has been removed in versions v2.9.0 and later. In addition to correcting the access control boundary, version 2.9.0 includes the following hardening measures: opt-in default and format and validation modernization. As a workaround, one may mitigate exposure by taking either or all of the following steps. Revoke Scoped Permissions: Remove the `api-v2-system-restapi-settings-sync-post` privilege from all non-administrative users. Apply ACLs: Configure REST API Access Control Lists (ACLs) and/or firewall rules to restrict access to API endpoints exclusively to trusted administrator and HA

The Sensei LMS WordPress plugin before 4.26.4 contains a broken access control vulnerability in the legacy save_new_message handler hooked on the init action, which validates only a generic nonce without verifying course enrollment or restricting post_id to valid post types. Authenticated attackers, including unprivileged Subscribers, can supply an arbitrary post_id for any course, lesson, or quiz to create a private message addressed to that post's author, bypassing the enrollment checks enforced by the newer REST send-message controller.

The Sensei LMS WordPress plugin before 4.26.4 contains a broken access control vulnerability in the add_new_module_term AJAX handler that allows authenticated Teacher-role attackers to assign module taxonomy terms to arbitrary courses by supplying a crafted course_id, since the handler validates only a generic nonce and checks manage_options solely for slug prefixing rather than verifying course edit permissions. • Oct 18, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ata: libata-scsi: bound the ATA passthru sense descriptor writes When an ATA PASS-THROUGH CVE-2026-98545 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ata: libata-scsi: bound the ATA passthru sense descriptor writes When an ATA PASS-THROUGH command to an ATAPI device fails, the sense buffer holds the device's REQUEST SENSE reply, and ata_scsi_set_passthru_sense_fields() trusts its additional length byte, sb[7], when adding the ATA Status Return descriptor. A faulty or malicious device can use that to make the kernel read and write past the 96-byte buffer in three ways: - scsi_sense_desc_find() is passed sb[7] + 8 as the buffer length, so its clamp against sb[7] does nothing and the walk runs off the end. - A type-9 descriptor found near the end is filled in unchecked. - A new descriptor at sb[8 + len] needs len + 22 bytes, not len + 14, so len 75..82 writes up to 8 bytes past the end. Reproduced with KASAN under qemu, with the emulated ATAPI REQUEST SENSE reply patched: BUG: KASAN: slab-out-of-bounds in scsi_sense_desc_find+0x1a5/0x210 BUG: KASAN: slab-out-of-bounds in ata_scsi_qc_complete+0x1a15/0x1a50 Both are gone with this patch, and a valid descriptor is still filled in.

  • Oct 15, 2026OPNsense is a FreeBSD based firewall and routing platform.CVE-2026-71490 · Other software · opnsense · reported by GitHubHigh 7.1

OPNsense is a FreeBSD based firewall and routing platform. Prior to 26.1.11, OPNsense\Core\ACL::hasPrivilege() appends a directly assigned comma-separated <priv> value as one string and then uses an exact comparison when checking user-config-readonly. A user directly assigned both a component write privilege and user-config-readonly can therefore be treated as lacking the read-only restriction, and MVC APIs protected by throwReadOnly() can persist configuration changes for that component. Group privileges are not affected by the same parser flaw because the group path already splits comma-separated values. This issue is fixed in version 26.1.11.

  • Oct 15, 2026OPNsense is a FreeBSD based firewall and routing platform.CVE-2026-63442 · Other software · opnsense · reported by GitHubHigh 8.1

OPNsense is a FreeBSD based firewall and routing platform. Prior to version 26.1.11, the unauthenticated WebGUI login usernamefld accepts carriage-return and line-feed characters that survive LOG_AUTH processing through syslog-ng-lockout.conf into the syslog-ng program destination feeding lockout_handler. The consumer's readline() processing treats an injected fragment as a separate authentication event and selects the first syntactically valid IP address from the forged line. An attacker with network access to the login page can forge failure events for another IP, causing that IP to be added to the sshlockout PF table and its active states to be killed, or forge accepted events that reset an attacker's own brute-force counter. This can block administrative, DNS, gateway, or monitoring addresses and can bypass password-guessing lockout without authentication. This issue is fixed in version 26.1.11.

OPNsense is a FreeBSD based firewall and routing platform. Prior to version 26.1.11, the safe-delete path reached through ApiMutableModelControllerBase::delBase() interpolates an unvalidated safe-delete token from the request URL into an XPath expression over config.xml before confirming that the token is a valid identifier. A user holding any one affected module privilege can send a crafted token to one of 21 affected delete endpoints covering Traffic Shaper, DHCP relay, Dnsmasq, Firewall Category, or Kea DHCP, causing the XPath to match configuration data across modules. The resulting error response exposes configuration item names, descriptions, reference paths, and UUIDs and provides an XPath substring-presence oracle, including for modules the user cannot otherwise access. The request does not modify configuration or perform a deletion. This issue is fixed in version 26.1.11.

  • Oct 15, 2026OPNsense is a FreeBSD based firewall and routing platform.CVE-2026-58393 · Other software · opnsense · reported by GitHubMedium 5.9

OPNsense is a FreeBSD based firewall and routing platform. Prior to version 26.1.11, the OpenVPN Client Specific Override common_name field accepts path traversal sequences and openvpn_csc_conf_write() concatenates the value into /var/etc/openvpn-csc/<vpnid>/<common_name> without normalization or a basename check. The affected event handlers are client_connect.php and user_pass_verify.php. An authenticated user with Client Specific Override privileges can store the traversal value, and a matching OpenVPN client-connect or authentication event causes a generated CSO file to be written outside the intended directory. The file content is generated OpenVPN configuration rather than arbitrary bytes, and practical exploitation requires the attacker to cause a matching common name or username to be processed. This issue is fixed in version 26.1.11.

OPNsense is a FreeBSD based firewall and routing platform. Prior to version 26.1.11, the NTP GPS page stores the operator-supplied initcmd value in base64 form, applies legacy_html_escape_form_data() to the encoded string, and then uses base64_decode() to decode the value directly into the GPS initialization-command textarea in src/www/services_ntpd_gps.php. Because decoding occurs after escaping, stored HTML remains unescaped at the output sink. A user with page-services-ntp-gps privilege can store a value that closes the textarea, and script executes in the session of any user who later opens the GPS page. The script can read CSRF material and perform authenticated actions, including actions available to an administrator. This issue is fixed in version 26.1.11.

  • Oct 15, 2026OPNsense is a FreeBSD based firewall and routing platform.CVE-2026-58391 · Other software · opnsense · reported by GitHubMedium 5.4

OPNsense is a FreeBSD based firewall and routing platform. Prior to version 26.1.11, Firewall Rules and NAT views place stored category names and alias descriptions into HTML title attributes in filter_rule.volt and nat_rule.volt without quote-safe encoding. The response layer uses ENT_NOQUOTES, so a double quote survives and closes the attribute, allowing an event-handler attribute to be added to the existing span. A user with Firewall Categories or Firewall Alias Edit privileges can store a category name or alias description; the category must be assigned to a filter or NAT rule, or the alias must be referenced by a rule source or destination, and the rule must be saved so the affected tooltip is rendered. Script then executes in the session of an administrator or other user who opens the affected Rules or NAT page. The script can access CSRF material and perform authenticated actions as the victim. This issue is fixed in version 26.1.11.

OPNsense is a FreeBSD based firewall and routing platform. Prior to version 26.1.11, the OpenVPN connection-status dashboard widget in src/opnsense/www/js/widgets/OpenVPNClients.js and the connection-status view place a client common_name into data-common-name attributes without quote-safe encoding. Exploitation requires an OpenVPN server configured with username-as-common-name and RADIUS or LDAP authentication, plus the ability to provision or self-register a valid backend username containing a double quote; deployments where the same administrator controls both the identity backend and firewall do not cross a separate trust boundary. An authenticated client using that username can close the attribute and add an event handler, while the local user database is not affected because its username validator rejects quotes. Script executes in an administrator's session when the administrator opens the dashboard or connection-status page and the injected event is triggered; the demonstrated payload used pointer movement over the client row rather than unconditional page-load execution. The advisory demonstrates that the script can read config.xml, invoke privileged APIs, reset the root p

OPNsense is a FreeBSD based firewall and routing platform. Prior to version 26.1.11, the Firewall Alias GeoIP importer's process_zip() and process_gzip() paths in src/opnsense/scripts/filter/lib/alias/geoip.py use an unvalidated CSV country_code value to construct output filenames below /usr/local/share/GeoIP/alias. A user with Firewall Alias Edit privilege can configure an attacker-controlled GeoIP source URL and supply an archive whose country code traverses into another existing directory, causing attacker-controlled content to be written as root with an -IPv4 or -IPv6 suffix. A crafted newsyslog fragment and oversized log file can use the default hourly root cron job to execute commands as root, resulting in complete firewall compromise. This issue is fixed in version 26.1.11.

OPNsense is a FreeBSD based firewall and routing platform. Prior to version 26.1.10, the Trust module stores attacker-controlled certificate authority and certificate refid values and interpolates them into XPath expressions in src/opnsense/mvc/app/models/OPNsense/Trust/FieldTypes/CAsField.php and src/opnsense/mvc/app/models/OPNsense/Trust/FieldTypes/CertificatesField.php. A user with CA Manager or Certificate Manager privileges can submit a crafted refid and repeatedly retrieve the object to obtain a boolean refcount oracle, allowing values in config.xml to be recovered character by character. Exposed values can include password hashes, API credentials, certificate private keys, VPN key material, and high-availability credentials, enabling privilege escalation and compromise of other security domains. This issue is fixed in version 26.1.10.

Netgate pfSense FRR package (pfSense-pkg-frr) 2.0.2_1 and source revision 2.1.2_1 contain an OS command injection vulnerability in the FRR status filter. An authenticated WebGUI user with only the page-status-frr privilege can supply a filter value that breaks out of a single-quoted sed expression into which escapeshellarg() output is concatenated. Shell command substitution is then evaluated by a popen() pipeline, allowing attacker-selected commands to execute as root. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: core: Validate MODE SENSE lengths in scsi_cdl_enable() scsi_cdl_enable() uses length fields returned by MODE SENSE to locate the ATA feature mode page in a 64-byte stack buffer. A target can report a total length shorter than its mode header and block descriptors. The unsigned subtraction used for the MODE SELECT length can wrap, and the separately computed buf_data can point beyond buf. During automatic scan, enable is false, so the read-modify-write of buf_data[4] can clear the low two bits of a target-selected out-of-bounds stack byte. scsi_mode_select() can then copy up to 64 bytes from outside the buffer into the outgoing MODE SELECT payload, disclosing stack contents to the target. This is reachable while scanning a USB storage device that identifies as an ATA device and advertises CDL support. No filesystem mount or userspace access to the block device is required. On upstream commit cee9395acd80 ("Linux 7.3-rc1"), a build-specific, one-vCPU QEMU/Raw Gadget proof using QEMU-only multi-UDC allocator sampling executed a fixed proof command inside the guest and created a UID-0-owned marker during aut

  • Oct 1, 2026Ad Inserter – Ad Manager & AdSense Ads: Reflected Cross-Site ScriptingCVE-2026-89427 · WordPress plugins & themes · reported by WordfenceMedium 6.1

The Ad Inserter – Ad Manager & AdSense Ads plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Reflected Cross-Site Scripting via 's' Search Parameter in all versions up to, and including, 2.8.18 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that execute if they can successfully trick a user into performing an action such as clicking on a link. Exploitation requires that a site administrator has configured at least one Ad Inserter block using the {title} or {short-title} placeholder with that block enabled for search pages, which is a standard, documented plugin feature.

  • Oct 1, 2026Ad Inserter – Ad Manager & AdSense Ads: Reflected Cross-Site ScriptingCVE-2026-19902 · WordPress plugins & themes · reported by WordfenceMedium 6.1

The Ad Inserter – Ad Manager & AdSense Ads plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Reflected Cross-Site Scripting via the Referer header in all versions up to, and including, 2.8.18 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on the '{search-query}' dynamic tag. When an ad block's code contains that tag, replace_ai_tags() reads $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'] and tests it with the regex /[\.\/](google|yahoo|bing|ask)\.[a-z\.]{2,5}[\/]/i. The leading [\.\/] class matches a literal slash, so any referrer merely containing a segment such as '/google.com/' passes as a search-engine referral; the plugin then percent-decodes the referring query with parse_str() and substitutes the resulting 'q' (or 'p') value into the block via preg_replace() with no escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to execute arbitrary JavaScript in the context of the site for any visitor, including a signed-in administrator, by luring them to an attacker-controlled page that frames or links to any ordinary post. Exploitation requires the site to have an ad block whose code uses the '{search-query}' tag with automatic insertion enabled — a documented plugin feature used as intended.

In Netgate pfSense Plus before 26.07 and pfSense CE before 2.9.0, a Local File Inclusion (LFI) vulnerability in the Dashboard (index.php) widget sequence data handling allows an authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary PHP code. To exploit this, an attacker with privileges to modify Dashboard settings and write arbitrary files to the pfSense firewall system (e.g., /tmp/test.widget.php) can submit a crafted widget sequence value containing a path traversal payload (e.g., ../../../../../../../../../../../tmp/test).
