Oct 28, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: fill in FileSysIdentifier in FS_POSIX_INFORMATION smb2_get_info_filesystem() reportCVE-2026-99115 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: fill in FileSysIdentifier in FS_POSIX_INFORMATION smb2_get_info_filesystem() reports 56 bytes for FS_POSIX_INFORMATION, that is the whole of FILE_SYSTEM_POSIX_INFO, but never assigns FileSysIdentifier. Those eight bytes go to the client as they are found in the response buffer. The buffer is zeroed on allocation, so a standalone request leaks nothing. A compound request can leak: the offset of the next response is advanced by the length pinned for the previous one, so a reply that was written into the buffer and then dropped in favour of the short error response of smb2_set_err_rsp() stays there, and the next reply is laid over it with only the header cleared. Report the file system id statfs() returned, which is what the field is for. FileSysIdentifier is __le64 and f_fsid is a pair of ints, so assemble the value first, val[0] as the low half, and convert it on the way out.

Oct 28, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: initialize FileSystemControlFlags in FS_CONTROL_INFORMATION smb2_get_info_filesysteCVE-2026-99114 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: initialize FileSystemControlFlags in FS_CONTROL_INFORMATION smb2_get_info_filesystem() reports 48 bytes for FS_CONTROL_INFORMATION, that is the whole of struct smb2_fs_control_info, but never assigns FileSystemControlFlags. Those four bytes go to the client as they are found in the response buffer. The buffer is zeroed on allocation, so a standalone request leaks nothing. A compound request can leak: the offset of the next response is advanced by the length pinned for the previous one, so a reply that was written into the buffer and then dropped in favour of the short error response of smb2_set_err_rsp() stays there, and the next reply is laid over it with only the header cleared. ksmbd does not implement quota tracking, so report no control flags.

Oct 28, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: zero the FS_OBJECT_ID_INFORMATION buffer before filling it in smb2_get_info_filesysCVE-2026-99113 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: zero the FS_OBJECT_ID_INFORMATION buffer before filling it in smb2_get_info_filesystem() reports 64 bytes for FS_OBJECT_ID_INFORMATION, that is the whole of struct object_id_info, but writes only 46 of them: - objid[] is 16 bytes, and when the volume UUID is not available only sizeof(stfs.f_fsid) (8) bytes are copied into it; - extended_info.version_string[] is STRING_LENGTH (28) bytes, and only strlen("1.1.0") (5) bytes are copied into it. The response buffer is zeroed on allocation (kvzalloc() in smb2_allocate_rsp_buf()), so for a standalone request the remaining 31 bytes are zero. In a compound request they need not be. The offset of the next response is advanced by the length pinned for the previous one, so if a preceding command wrote its reply into the buffer and then failed, smb2_set_err_rsp() pins only the short error response and the next reply lands inside the area that has already been written. Only the header is cleared there: memset((char *)rsp_hdr, 0, sizeof(struct smb2_hdr) + 2); The client then receives up to 31 bytes of a response it was not meant to see, including one that

Oct 28, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: fix data corruption with concurrent writes and O_TRUNC cifs_do_truncate() fluCVE-2026-99111 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: fix data corruption with concurrent writes and O_TRUNC cifs_do_truncate() flushes dirty pages with filemap_write_and_wait() and truncates the file on the server, but in the old code both operations ran without holding i_rwsem or invalidate_lock. A concurrent buffered write via netfs_perform_write() -- which only needs i_rwsem shared -- could dirty new pages after the flush but before the local truncation, and those pages would be silently discarded by cifs_setsize() -> truncate_pagecache(). Fix by acquiring inode_lock (exclusive i_rwsem) and filemap_invalidate_lock at the top of cifs_do_truncate(), so the entire flush-truncate-resize sequence is atomic with respect to: - buffered writes (blocked by exclusive i_rwsem, since netfs_start_io_write takes i_rwsem shared), - read page faults (blocked by exclusive invalidate_lock, since filemap_fault takes it shared), - writeback collection (blocked by netfs_wb_begin/netfs_wb_end around the server truncate and local resize, since netfs_writepages also acquires the wb lock).

Oct 28, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: fix heap overflow in cifs_do_set_acl() cifs_set_acl() validates ACL size usinCVE-2026-99110 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: fix heap overflow in cifs_do_set_acl() cifs_set_acl() validates ACL size using posix_acl_xattr_size(): 4 + (count * 8) // 4-byte header + 8 bytes per ACE cifs_do_set_acl() then calls posix_acl_to_cifs() to write the CIFS wire format into the same buffer: 6 + (count * 10) // 6-byte header + 10 bytes per ACE An ACL that passes the xattr-based check in cifs_set_acl() can overflow the heap when posix_acl_to_cifs() writes the larger CIFS format. Validate the CIFS format size against the remaining buffer space and USHRT_MAX before converting--data_count is __u16, so sizes above USHRT_MAX truncate the on-wire packet length, causing the server to apply a partial ACL. Replace MaxDataCount = 1000 with min(CIFSMaxBufSize, USHRT_MAX).

Oct 28, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: reject SetEA requests that do not fit the request buffer CIFSSMBSetEA() copieCVE-2026-99109 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: reject SetEA requests that do not fit the request buffer CIFSSMBSetEA() copies the caller's extended attribute value into the SMB request buffer without checking that it fits. The requirement is stated in the source but was never implemented: /*BB add length check to see if it would fit in negotiated SMB buffer size BB */ /* if (ea_value_len > buffer_size - 512 (enough for header)) */ if (ea_value_len) memcpy(parm_data->list.name + name_len + 1, ea_value, ea_value_len); The only bound applied on the way in is in cifs_xattr_set(): #define MAX_EA_VALUE_SIZE CIFSMaxBufSize ... if (size > MAX_EA_VALUE_SIZE) CIFSMaxBufSize is the full payload capacity of the buffer, so a value of exactly that size leaves no room for the SMB header, the TRANS2 parameter block, the fealist header and the EA name that are written ahead of it in the same object. SendReceive() already enforces the correct limit on this very length: if (in_len > CIFSMaxBufSize + MAX_CIFS_HDR_SIZE) but it is called after the copy has taken place. Oct 23, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: fix heap out-of-bounds write in krb5_authenticate() In krb5_authenticate(), out_lenCVE-2026-99083 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 8.8
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: fix heap out-of-bounds write in krb5_authenticate() In krb5_authenticate(), out_len is calculated to determine available headroom in response_buf for the incoming Kerberos AP-REP token. However, when SMB2_SESSION_SETUP is processed as a non-first element of a compounded SMB2 request, the calculation omits work->next_smb2_rsp_hdr_off. This causes out_len to overstate remaining buffer headroom by the cumulative size of prior responses in the compound chain. Consequently, the length check in ksmbd_krb5_authenticate() (*out_len <= resp->spnego_blob_len) passes erroneously, allowing memcpy() to write the AP-REP blob past the end of response_buf into adjacent kernel heap memory. Fix this by subtracting work->next_smb2_rsp_hdr_off when computing out_len, ensuring it accurately reflects physical remaining buffer space.

Oct 23, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: don't hold ci->m_lock while waiting for a lease break ack When a cifs.ko client cacCVE-2026-98897 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: don't hold ci->m_lock while waiting for a lease break ack When a cifs.ko client caches a read-handle (RH) lease via deferred close and a conflicting open arrives, ksmbd breaks the lease and waits for the acknowledgment in wait_for_break_ack() for up to OPLOCK_WAIT_TIME (35s). __smb_break_all_levII_oplock() runs that wait while holding ci->m_lock for read. cifs.ko reacts to a handle-lease break by closing the deferred handle rather than sending a lease break acknowledgment. That close path (close_id_del_oplock() -> opinfo_del()) takes ci->m_lock for write and is exactly what would wake the waiter, but it blocks on the read lock held by the waiting thread. The break is then resolved only by the 35s timeout, so xfstests generic/001 takes ~78s with leases enabled versus ~4s with oplocks only. Collect the target opinfos (each pinned with a reference) while holding ci->m_lock, then break them after releasing it, matching how smb_grant_oplock() already breaks a conflicting lease using only a reference. The reference keeps the opinfo (and its conn and lease) alive across the unlocked window, and a close racing

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: remove stale channels from all sessions on teardown ksmbd_sessions_deregister() removes a connection's channels from other sessions' channel lists only while conn->binding is still set: if (conn->binding) { hash_for_each_safe(sessions_table, ...) ksmbd_chann_del(conn, sess); } conn->binding is a transient flag: it is cleared once a binding SESSION_SETUP completes, and also by a subsequent non-binding SESSION_SETUP on the same connection (a reauthentication on a bound channel, or a new SessionId==0 setup). A connection that has bound a channel into another session's ksmbd_chann_list and then clears conn->binding leaves that channel behind when it disconnects: the channel, whose chann->conn points at the now freed struct ksmbd_conn, stays on the owner session's list. When the owning connection later tears down, the second loop dereferences the stale channel: xa_for_each(&sess->ksmbd_chann_list, chann_id, chann) if (chann->conn != conn) ksmbd_conn_set_exiting(chann->conn); /* freed */ which is a use-after-free write into the freed ksmbd_conn (the same stale channel is also walked by show_p

Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal') vulnerability in Apache Camel SMB component. This issue affects Apache Camel: from 4.2.0 before 4.18.5, from 4.19.0 before 4.22.1. The Camel remote-file consumers poll a directory on a remote server and build the absolute remote path of each file by concatenating the configured directory with the file name reported in the server's directory listing. That concatenation (FtpUtils.absoluteFilePath and GenericFileConsumer) applied no lexical normalization and no check that the result stayed inside the directory being polled, and the resulting path became the operand for every subsequent remote operation on the file: retrieval (FtpOperations.retrieveFile / SftpOperations, reached from GenericFileConsumer where the retrieve name is taken verbatim from GenericFile.getAbsoluteFilePath), deletion when delete=true (GenericFileDeleteProcessStrategy), and renaming when move, preMove, moveFailed or readLock=rename is configured (GenericFileProcessStrategySupport and GenericFileRenameExclusiveReadLockStrategy). Neither isValidFile nor isMatched performed any containment check. A listing entry that is not a singl

Oct 18, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: flush and commit data before querying allocated ranges The mode 0 / FALLOC_FLCVE-2026-98684 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: flush and commit data before querying allocated ranges The mode 0 / FALLOC_FL_KEEP_SIZE fallocate emulation for small interior ranges in smb3_simple_fallocate_range() issues FSCTL_QUERY_ALLOCATED_RANGES and zero-fills any sub-range the server reports as an unallocated hole, to force block allocation without changing file contents. This is unsafe against Windows servers. Per the Win32 documentation, FSCTL_QUERY_ALLOCATED_RANGES only reports ranges that *may* contain nonzero data and is explicitly not coherent with recently written data: "a call to FSCTL_QUERY_ALLOCATED_RANGES [after writing to a network file] would not necessarily return a correct list of allocated regions. To ensure coherency [...] flush the data to the file" fsx (generic/363) reproduces the resulting corruption against Windows Server 2022: a range is written, an uncached read returns the data, yet the next FSCTL_QUERY_ALLOCATED_RANGES on that range reports it as a whole hole, so the emulation overwrites live data with zeroes. A network trace confirmed the WRITE, the READ returning data and the query returning an empty

Oct 18, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: flush dirty data before zeroing a range smb3_zero_range() emulates FALLOC_FL_CVE-2026-98683 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: flush dirty data before zeroing a range smb3_zero_range() emulates FALLOC_FL_ZERO_RANGE by invalidating the page cache over the target range with truncate_pagecache_range() and then issuing FSCTL_SET_ZERO_DATA to the server. Dirty data was only flushed conditionally, when the range reached or extended EOF. For a purely interior zero range that does not reach EOF, no flush happened, so a dirty folio overlapping the range could be written back to the server after the FSCTL and refill the range that was just zeroed with stale data. Fix this by unconditionally flushing and waiting for dirty data in the range before invalidating the page cache and issuing FSCTL_SET_ZERO_DATA, exactly as was done for smb3_punch_hole() in commit d7d2adcd022b ("smb/client: flush dirty data before punching a hole"); the two paths are structurally identical here. This is observed as generic/363 randomly reading stale data where a zeroed range is expected against Windows Server.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: drain and invalidate before server-side copy/clone cifs_file_copychunk_range() and the clone (FICLONE) path of cifs_remap_file_range() do not serialise the destination page cache against the server-side copy the way the other server-side range operations (smb3_zero_range(), smb3_punch_hole(), smb3_collapse_range() and smb3_insert_range()) do. cifs_file_copychunk_range() invalidates the destination range with filemap_invalidate_inode(), which takes and drops the mapping's invalidate_lock internally, so the lock is no longer held when the copychunk ioctl is issued. It also never drains in-flight netfs I/O on the target. The clone path never takes the invalidate_lock at all (only i_rwsem), uses a bare truncate_inode_pages_range() and likewise does not drain outstanding I/O. As a result an asynchronous destination writeback can complete after the server-side copy/clone has run and reinstate stale data over the region just written by the server, corrupting the file. This is the same class of corruption as commit d7d2adcd022b ("smb/client: flush dirty data before punching a hole") and has been seen ra

Since bitfield assignments generate byte-level read-modify-write operations, a modification to one flag can overwrite a concurrent modification to another flag. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: fix create context out-of-bounds reads smb2_parse_contexts() validates the complete create-context area but does not limit each record to its Next field before dispatching it. A malformed chain can therefore expose bytes beyond the current context to a handler. The QFid handler also used a full response-structure cast although it only reads DiskFileId. The SMB2/SMB3 lease parsers made the same layout assumption: they read LeaseState and LeaseFlags at canonical offsets rather than at DataOffset. A valid non-canonical DataOffset could therefore yield unrelated in-bounds data, while a short DataLength was still accepted. Limit each context to its Next value, reject offsets before the context header, and reject malformed chains. Bound the name range by the current context and do not dispatch a known handler when DataLength is zero. Read the QFid DiskFileId only when the context data covers that field. Parse the lease context from DataOffset and require DataLength to match the v1 or v2 lease_context size used by ksmbd. A size mismatch skips lease parsing without failing the open.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: clean up failed cached directory opens open_cached_dir() sends CREATE and QUERY_INFO as a compound request. If the CREATE succeeds but a later command returns an error, the function must retain the CREATE FID so common cleanup can issue SMB2_close(). It also must not treat a response error as a valid CREATE. Validate the CREATE response before using its fields, record the FIDs, and mark the handle open before handling errors from later compound commands. Move the -EREMCHG reconnect handling before response validation so a missing response does not hide the reconnect request. Count the handle when it is marked open; confirmed close responses decrement the counter, while existing close retry behavior remains best effort on transport failures.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: use finish_no_open() for non-regular inodes An O_CREAT open can find an existing symlink or another non-regular inode. cifs_atomic_open() calls finish_open() on it and attaches a cifsFileInfo. Symlink inodes have no CIFS release operation, so the dentry reference held by cifsFileInfo is leaked. FMODE_OPENED also prevents the VFS from following the symlink. Track whether cifs_do_create() returned an open server handle. For non-regular inodes, close the handle if present, remove the pending open, and call finish_no_open() so the VFS can continue the lookup. Do not set FMODE_CREATED unless a regular file was opened. For O_NOFOLLOW with __O_REGULAR, return -ELOOP before the VFS's -EFTYPE check. Defer closing a legacy POSIX handle on a non-regular inode until after inode lookup. This avoids closing it again if lookup fails.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: close completed creates on compound wait errors compound_send_recv() waits for responses in order. If a later wait is interrupted, or if a later MID fails during response synchronization, an earlier CREATE may already have opened a remote handle. The earlier mid is then released without invoking handle_cancelled_mid(), leaving the remote handle open because no FID was copied to the caller. Mark completed earlier mids as cancelled when a compound wait or MID synchronization aborts. Keep their response buffers attached while the MIDs are synchronized, and transfer them only after synchronization of the processed responses, so the release path can inspect successful CREATE responses and queue SMB2_close() after a later failure. Account for a remote open only after the close work is allocated and before it is queued, since the caller has not yet updated num_remote_opens. Mark the create+close compound used by smb2_unlink() so it is not closed again. Non-CREATE responses and compounds that already include a close keep their existing behavior.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: delete compound mids on send failure before unlock When sending a compound request fails, smb_send_rqst() kicks off a reconnect. compound_send_recv() still has those mids on pending_mid_q, but it unlocks the server without removing them first. During reconnect, cifs_abort_connection() walks pending_mid_q and runs each mid callback. With no response yet, those callbacks return credits and drop in_flight. Then compound_send_recv()'s send-error path returns the same credits again. in_flight ends up decremented twice and smb2_add_credits() WARNs. syzbot hits this during SMB2_negotiate when the socket send fails. cifs_call_async() already calls delete_mid() before unlock on send failure. Do the same for compound chains and set cancelled_mid[] so the out: path does not delete them again.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: follow SMB2 session expiration semantics ksmbd_session_register() destroys valid sessions after ten seconds of inactivity whenever a client starts another SessionSetup exchange. This confuses Session.IdleTime with Session.ExpirationTime. Windows can create additional authenticated sessions on an existing connection, so deleting the older session invalidates its tree connects and makes mapped drives fail with STATUS_NETWORK_NAME_DELETED. The session expiration rules require the server to change a valid session to expired only after its credential expiration time passes. A valid or expired session otherwise keeps its connection from being scavenged. Connections that have not negotiated a dialect, have no sessions, or have only InProgress sessions are disconnected after an implementation-specific timeout. Use the Windows-compatible 45 second value and run the expiration check periodically for both TCP and SMB Direct. Keep zero as an infinite credential expiration time, and count each Valid-to-Expired transition. Set expired sessions to InProgress when they reauthenticate. If authentication fails, remove the

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: fix missing iov bounds check in parse_posix_sids() In parse_posix_sids(), sidsbuf_end is calculated using the server-supplied out_len without being validated against the actual length of the received iov (iov_len). If a server provides an inflated out_len, sidsbuf_end will point past the end of the iov. This defeats the bounds guards in posix_info_sid_size(), allowing out-of-bounds reads into adjacent kernel memory. Fix this by rejecting responses where the calculated sidsbuf_end would exceed the received iov boundaries or cause pointer wraparound.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: validate absolute native symlink targets before NT fixups With symlinkroot unset, an absolute target is copied without conversion to an NT drive path. Later code still assumes an NT prefix is present when modifying the target and calculating the print name length. For "/ab", this causes two failures: sym[5] and path[5] are written past their allocations, and plen -= 2 * poff subtracts an assumed 8-byte prefix from a 6-byte UTF-16 target, wrapping u16 plen to 65534. That underflow causes another overflow: memcpy() copies 65534 bytes into a 24-byte buffer. A user with write access to a mounted share can trigger these bugs with default settings. Validate the NT drive prefix, including an ASCII drive letter, before accessing fixed offsets or subtracting the prefix length.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Input: rmi_smbus - fix out-of-bounds read in rmi_smb_write_block() When chunking writes into SMBus blocks in rmi_smb_write_block(), the loop calculates block_len using the original total length (len) instead of the remaining length (cur_len). If len is greater than 32 bytes (SMB_MAX_COUNT), block_len remains 32 for every iteration, even on the final partial chunk where fewer than 32 bytes remain. This causes smb_block_write() to read 32 bytes from the advanced data buffer pointer, reading past the end of the input buffer. Fix this by calculating block_len using cur_len and advancing the buffer and address pointers by block_len.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: fix use-after-free of iface in cifs_try_adding_channels() cifs_try_adding_channels() iterates ses->iface_list with list_for_each_entry_safe_from(), which captures the next entry (niface) under iface_lock. The loop body then drops iface_lock for the whole duration of cifs_ses_add_channel(). A concurrent interface refresh (SMB3_request_interfaces() -> parse_server_interfaces()) marks all ifaces inactive and removes and frees any that are not re-advertised via list_del() + kref_put(), where release_iface() is a bare kfree(). Since niface typically has no channel holding a reference, the list reference is its last and it can be freed inside the unlocked window. On continue, the iterator advance step then dereferences niface->iface_head.next, and the loop body reads iface->rdma_capable/is_active, both on freed memory. Fix this by never keeping an unreferenced list pointer across the unlocked window. Each channel attempt now re-scans the list from the head under iface_lock, takes a kref on the selected candidate, and passes only that referenced candidate to cifs_ses_add_channel(). weight_fulfilled st

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: fix next_buffer UAF and NextCommand bounds in compound PDUs Fix several related bounds checking and pointer lifecycle issues in receive_encrypted_standard()'s handling of compound encrypted frames: - Clear next_buffer after assigning it to server->bigbuf. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: fix OOB struct field reads in move_smb2_ea_to_cifs() In move_smb2_ea_to_cifs(), the while (src_size > 0) loop condition is insufficient. It allows iteration to continue even if the remaining src_size is too small to contain a complete smb2_ea_info structure. Consequently, reads of ea_name_length and ea_value_length can occur out-of-bounds. Fix this by ensuring src_size >= sizeof(*src) before attempting to read any structure fields. Additionally, reject any next_entry_offset that is smaller than sizeof(*src) or that would advance the pointer beyond the available buffer. Note that for calls where the server returns a malformed EA list, the error returned to userspace changes from -ENODATA (getxattr) or -ERANGE (listxattr) to -EIO. This correctly signals a server protocol error rather than misleadingly indicating "attribute not present" or "output buffer too small".

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: fix potential OOB read in smb3_enum_snapshots() If snapshot_array_size is smaller than GMT_TOKEN_SIZE, smb3_enum_snapshots() sets ret_data_len to sizeof(struct smb_snapshot_array) without verifying the actual length of the server's reply. Because SMB2_ioctl() places no lower bound on the server-supplied OutputCount and allocates retbuf to exactly that length, a short reply results in ret_data_len exceeding the size of retbuf. The subsequent copy_to_user() then reads past the end of retbuf, leaking adjacent slab memory to userspace. The subsequent clamp check is ineffective as it only reduces ret_data_len. Fix this by rejecting replies shorter than sizeof(struct smb_snapshot_array) with -EIO. Note that the bound is set to the 12-byte struct size rather than the 16-byte MIN_SNAPSHOT_ARRAY_SIZE defined in MS-SMB2 3.3.5.15.1, because 12 bytes is exactly what copy_to_user() attempts to read.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: fix server->total_read for compound encrypted PDUs In receive_encrypted_standard(), server->total_read is left at the full decrypted frame size when walking sub-PDUs of a compound encrypted frame. Oct 1, 2026The SMBus driver API exposed smbus_smbalert_remove_cb() and smbus_host_notify_remove_cb() as Zephyr syscalls.CVE-2026-17053 · Other software · zephyrproject · reported by vulnerabilities@zephyrproject.orgMedium 4.4
The SMBus driver API exposed smbus_smbalert_remove_cb() and smbus_host_notify_remove_cb() as Zephyr syscalls. Their verifiers in drivers/smbus/smbus_handlers.c validated only the dev argument with K_SYSCALL_OBJ(dev, K_OBJ_DRIVER_SMBUS) and forwarded the caller-supplied struct smbus_callback *cb pointer into kernel-mode driver code without any K_SYSCALL_MEMORY_READ/K_SYSCALL_MEMORY_WRITE validation. A companion change in 2023 had already removed the matching smbus_smbalert_set_cb() / smbus_host_notify_set_cb() syscalls for this reason, but the two removal syscalls were left exposed. On a build with CONFIG_USERSPACE=y, CONFIG_SMBUS=y and a driver implementing the callback operations (drivers/smbus/intel_pch_smbus.c with CONFIG_SMBUS_INTEL_PCH_SMBALERT/CONFIG_SMBUS_INTEL_PCH_HOST_NOTIFY, or drivers/smbus/smbus_stm32.c with CONFIG_SMBUS_STM32_SMBALERT), any user-mode thread that has been granted the SMBus device object can invoke these syscalls with an arbitrary pointer. The value reaches smbus_callback_remove() in drivers/smbus/smbus_utils.h, which uses it as a node identity against the kernel's sys_slist_t of registered callbacks. The consequence is that an unprivileged thread can

Where this comes from: the exploited list is CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Everything else is the whole National Vulnerability Database, where each record is published by the team that found the bug (Wordfence, Patchstack, WPScan, the vendors themselves and others); we show who. Exploit odds are FIRST’s EPSS, updated daily. Titles and categories are ours, so check the linked record before acting on a detail. For a write-up of the big ones, see our advisories. Every vendor, and every WordPress plugin and theme with a recorded flaw, also has its own page. All of it is free to reuse as JSON, CSV or RSS.
