Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal') vulnerability in Apache Camel Mina SFTP component. This issue affects Apache Camel: from 4.18.0 before 4.18.5, from 4.19.0 before 4.22.1. The Camel remote-file consumers poll a directory on a remote server and build the absolute remote path of each file by concatenating the configured directory with the file name reported in the server's directory listing. That concatenation (FtpUtils.absoluteFilePath and GenericFileConsumer) applied no lexical normalization and no check that the result stayed inside the directory being polled, and the resulting path became the operand for every subsequent remote operation on the file: retrieval (FtpOperations.retrieveFile / SftpOperations, reached from GenericFileConsumer where the retrieve name is taken verbatim from GenericFile.getAbsoluteFilePath), deletion when delete=true (GenericFileDeleteProcessStrategy), and renaming when move, preMove, moveFailed or readLock=rename is configured (GenericFileProcessStrategySupport and GenericFileRenameExclusiveReadLockStrategy). Neither isValidFile nor isMatched performed any containment check. A listing entry that is not

  • Oct 15, 2026The Apache Airflow SFTP provider's deferrable code paths (`SFTPTrigger`, `SFTPHookAsync`, `SFTPClientPool`) disable SSH host-key verification by default unless CVE-2026-94135 · Email & office · Apache Software Foundation · reported by security@apache.orgMedium 4.3

The Apache Airflow SFTP provider's deferrable code paths (`SFTPTrigger`, `SFTPHookAsync`, `SFTPClientPool`) disable SSH host-key verification by default unless the connection explicitly sets `no_host_key_check` to false. Deployments that run SFTP sensors or operators in deferrable mode are affected. An attacker in a machine-in-the-middle position between the triggerer and the SFTP server can impersonate the server and capture the credentials or data exchanged. Users of apache-airflow-providers-sftp are recommended to upgrade to apache-airflow-providers-sftp 7.0.0 or later. This is a separate defect from CVE-2026-94134 (the synchronous SSH hook default, which also affects the SFTP hook); users who applied the fix for one also need this release for the other - apache-airflow-providers-sftp 7.0.0 fixes both.

  • Oct 13, 2026SFTPGo is an open source, event-driven file transfer solution.CVE-2026-103028 · Other software · drakkan · reported by GitHubMedium 4.3

SFTPGo is an open source, event-driven file transfer solution. From 2.5.0 until 2.7.6, an authenticated user with copy permission can copy a source file denied by denied_patterns or outside allowed_patterns to an allowed destination name because file-pattern filters are evaluated only on the destination. The user can then read the denied file contents. Recursive directory copies can reproduce restricted contents under an allowed path, and the hide policy is bypassed because files that appear missing to stat and directory listings can still be copied. Home-directory boundaries, virtual-folder layout, per-directory permissions, access to other accounts, and administrative authorization remain enforced. This issue is fixed in 2.7.6.

  • Sep 30, 2026Server-side memory exhaustion in Apache MINA SSHD 1.0.0 to 2.19.0 and 3.0.0-M1 to 3.0.0-M5, component sshd-sftp, in the SFTP v6 check-file-name/check-file-handlCVE-2026-94029 · Websites & servers · Apache Software Foundation · reported by security@apache.orgMedium 6.5

Server-side memory exhaustion in Apache MINA SSHD 1.0.0 to 2.19.0 and 3.0.0-M1 to 3.0.0-M5, component sshd-sftp, in the SFTP v6 check-file-name/check-file-handle extension. Apache MINA SSHD is a Java library for client-side and server-side SSH. Using a very small "block size" (for instance 256, which is the minimum) on a huge file generates many (file size / block size) hashes. The resulting SFTP reply message was accumulated fully in memory server-side, which could, with a suitably large (possibly sparse) file exhaust the server-side memory, taking down the server. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 2.20.0 or 3.0.0-M6, which fix this issue by imposing a maximum limit on the size of the reply. Many SFTP implementations have a general limit on the size of SFTP messages anyway; typically 256kB as in OpenSSH or also in Apache MINA SSHD.

Apache MINA SSHD is a Java library for client-side and server-side SSH. The sshd-sftp component provides support for SFTP. The SFTP client implementation, when receiving a reply, did not check that this reply corresponded to a request sent earlier. Unsolicited replies would be stored but never consumed. copyparty contains a volume restriction bypass vulnerability in its SFTP front end that allows authenticated SFTP users to create, remove, and truncate arbitrary paths outside permitted volume boundaries by exploiting three handlers that bypass the xvol volflag enforcement. The _mkdir, _rmdir, and _chattr handlers construct destination paths using vfs.get(), vn.canonical(), and os.path.join() without invoking the chk_ap access check, enabling attackers to traverse symlinks leaving a volume's top directory and perform unauthorized file creation, deletion, or truncation via SSH_FXP_SETSTAT operations on paths outside any volume the account is authorized to access.

A vulnerability in the sftunnel inter-device communication protocol of Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center (FMC) Software could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to execute arbitrary commands as root. This vulnerability exists because a registered sftunnel peer has incorrect permissions to write an arbitrary file to any location on the device. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by hijacking the sftunnel communication connection or being a valid registered sftunnel peer and sending an sftunnel command to write a malicious file to the disk of an affected device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to write a file to the device that is executed with root privileges. To exploit this vulnerability, the attacker must have valid user credentials on the affected device.

  • Sep 1, 2026A flaw was found in the SFTP backend in gvfs.CVE-2026-84268 · Other software · GNOME · reported by Red HatHigh 8.8

A flaw was found in the SFTP backend in gvfs. When mounting a share and reading a file, a malicious SFTP server can cause read_reply() to process a length that exceeds the size requested by the client. The function does not verify the server-provided length against the allocated buffer size, causing the operation to write past the intended boundaries. This issue allows a malicious server to corrupt adjacent heap memory in the gvfsd-sftp process, resulting in a denial of service as the process aborts upon detecting the heap corruption or potentially allowing arbitrary code execution.

  • Sep 1, 2026A flaw was found in the SFTP backend in gvfs.CVE-2026-84267 · Other software · GNOME · reported by Red HatMedium 4.3

A flaw was found in the SFTP backend in gvfs. When mounting a share, a malicious SFTP server can cause read_string() to allocate a buffer with a certain length but the function does not verify that the buffer is completely filled, leaving the remainder of the buffer containing uninitialized heap contents. If the server sends a short FXP_HANDLE reply, these uninitialized bytes are taken as the file handle. The client will then echo these uninitialized bytes back to the server on all subsequent requests using that handle. With a length of 128 bytes, this issue allows the malicious server to deterministically read uninitialized heap memory from the gvfsd-sftp process, leaking its heap base and the load address of the libgio library, resulting in a deterministic defeat of Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR).

  • Aug 20, 2026SFTPGo is an open source, event-driven file transfer solution.CVE-2026-49245 · Other software · drakkan · reported by GitHubLow 3.7

SFTPGo is an open source, event-driven file transfer solution. From 2.2.0 until 2.7.3, the inline query parameter on browsable-share file downloads and authenticated user-file downloads suppresses Content-Disposition: attachment, allowing an attacker-controlled HTML file stored in a share or home directory to be served as text/html in the SFTPGo web origin. An attacker who can place the file can send a crafted link to a victim, and opening that link executes the stored content in the victim's browser context. Exploitation requires social engineering and suitable share or shared-folder access, while HttpOnly session cookies limit direct cookie theft. This issue is fixed in version 2.7.3.

  • Aug 20, 2026SFTPGo is an open source, event-driven file transfer solution.CVE-2026-49244 · Other software · drakkan · reported by GitHubMedium 5.9

SFTPGo is an open source, event-driven file transfer solution. From 2.2.0 until 2.7.3, the public web-client partial ZIP download endpoint for a browsable share validates client-supplied files entries with a raw byte-prefix comparison rather than a directory-boundary-aware check. An unauthenticated requester who can reach a public share can select a canonical path outside the shared directory when the target path begins with the shared directory's name, such as a sibling path that shares the same prefix. The endpoint then includes the out-of-scope file in the generated download, disclosing its contents. This issue is fixed in version 2.7.3.

  • Aug 19, 2026electerm is an open-sourced terminal/ssh/sftp/telnet/serialport/RDP/VNC/Spice/ftp client.CVE-2026-49255 · Other software · electerm · reported by GitHubHigh 8.8

electerm is an open-sourced terminal/ssh/sftp/telnet/serialport/RDP/VNC/Spice/ftp client. Prior to 3.11.11, electerm constructs operating system commands in src/app/lib/fs.js by interpolating untrusted file paths into the rmrf(), mv(), and cp() functions. A malicious SSH or SFTP server can provide a filename containing quote characters and shell metacharacters, and a victim can cause that filename to reach the affected operation during remote-to-local transfer, conflict renaming, copying, moving, or removal. The generated `rm -rf`, mv, `cp -r`, PowerShell Remove-Item, Move-Item, or Copy-Item command can then interpret the filename as shell syntax. This allows arbitrary command execution with the electerm desktop user's privileges on POSIX and Windows systems, enabling data exfiltration, file modification, malware installation, or denial of service. This issue is fixed in version 3.11.11.

  • Aug 19, 2026electerm is an open-sourced terminal/ssh/sftp/telnet/serialport/RDP/VNC/Spice/ftp client.CVE-2026-49253 · Other software · electerm · reported by GitHubHigh 7.1

electerm is an open-sourced terminal/ssh/sftp/telnet/serialport/RDP/VNC/Spice/ftp client. Prior to 3.11.11, electerm uses remote-supplied filenames directly with path.join() while receiving Zmodem and Trzsz transfers. In src/app/server/zmodem.js, prepareReceiveFile() joins the filename to the user-selected save path, and in src/app/server/trzsz.js, getUniqueFilePath(), the openSaveFile() callback, and the savedFilePaths mapping construct destinations without sanitization. A malicious SSH server or remote shell can provide a filename containing traversal components such as ../escaped.txt or ../../.bashrc. When the victim accepts the transfer and selects a download directory, electerm can write outside that directory and overwrite files accessible to the desktop user, potentially changing sensitive configuration or impairing availability. This issue is fixed in version 3.11.11.
