In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: nVMX: Reset MMU back to the root MMU if loading L2 state fails for !VM-Entry Reset the vCPU's MMU pointer back to the root MMU if loading L2 state fails in the "not from VM-Entry" case, i.e. when emulating RSM or handling KVM_SET_NESTED_STATE. Failure to unwind the MMU pointer results in KVM trying to run L1 with a nested MMU, and is especially problematic if the vCPU manages to free its nested state before the VM crashes. Constructing the root for a nested EPT MMU goes through vmcs12, which is dynamically allocated/freed when nVMX is enabled/disabled. And so if the nested state is freed with the MMU still pointing at the nested MMU, KVM will hit a NULL pointer deref when attempting to get L1=>L2 EPTP. • Oct 23, 2026Isar is an integration system for automated root filesystem generation.CVE-2026-55222 · Other software · ilbers · reported by GitHubMedium 5.1

Isar is an integration system for automated root filesystem generation. In versions 0.11 and newer, /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d is created manually during bootstrap setup to be able to deploy local keys. By that, the directory is owned by the calling user (the one that executes Isar) instead of root. If the calling user's id is identical to one of an unprivileged user inside the image, this user is able to alter existing keys and deploy new ones, silently breaking the apt repo integrity protection. The issue is has no impact on those images that use an immutable rootfs, or if apt is never invoked. Changing only the keys does not trigger an exploit, it's just one step in a chain. An attacker would also have to manipulate a remote repo or intercept non-secure communication with it. This issue has been patched via commit 29e84ed.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: namespace: don't copy an unmounted mount tree may_copy_tree() accepts a mount whose root is an nsfs or pidfs file before it checks whether that mount is mounted. This exception exists for nsfs and pidfs mounts. They are part of no mount namespace so neither check_mnt() nor is_mounted() would let them through and bind-mounting a nsfsfd or a pidfd wouldn't work. Problem is that exception also admits a bind mount of such a file when it was lazily unmounted and is only kept alive by a file descriptor: mount --bind /proc/self/ns/net /tmp/x exec 3< /tmp/x umount -l /tmp/x mount --rbind /proc/self/fd/3 /tmp/y With MS_REC or AT_RECURSIVE copy_tree() doesn't stop at the unmounted mount. It copies every mount that stayed attached to it as well. So if you have a bunch of overmounts over the nsfsfd or the pidfd the whole unmounted stack is copied. That's a bug. So refuse to walk an unmounted tree. Copying its root alone stays possible. So a bind mount of a namespace that is gone can still be recreated from a file descriptor on the old one. The file descriptor pins that mount and its root and __has_locked_children

  • Oct 23, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: namespace: check the mounts before reading their parents in pivot_root() path_pivot_root()CVE-2026-98985 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: namespace: check the mounts before reading their parents in pivot_root() path_pivot_root() reads the parents of new_root and of the caller's root and checks whether they are shared before it checks that either mount is in the caller's mount namespace. Only namespace_sem is held. That's fine for a mount that is in the caller's mount namespace. But new_root can be a file descriptor to a mount that has been unmounted and that only the file descriptor keeps alive. If that mount stayed attached to its parent when it was unmounted nothing pins the parent for it. The final mntput() of the parent unhooks the children under mount_lock alone and frees the parent afterwards: pivot_root() close(fd), last ref on the parent ------------ --------------------------------- ex_parent = new_mnt->mnt_parent mntput_no_expire_slowpath() __umount_mnt(new_mnt) cleanup_mnt() call_rcu() IS_MNT_SHARED(ex_parent) BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in

  • Oct 23, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: namespace: don't let a pseudo dentry become the root of a mount d_alloc_pseudo() hands outCVE-2026-98982 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.8

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: namespace: don't let a pseudo dentry become the root of a mount d_alloc_pseudo() hands out dentries for pipes, sockets and other files that are never anyone's child or parent. They carry DCACHE_NORCU and dentry_free() frees them right away because no lockless path walk can ever reach them. That holds as long as such a dentry isn't the root of a mount. But bind mounting /proc/self/fd/<fd> of such a file does exactly that. Most callers of alloc_file_pseudo() put their files on kernel-internal mounts and may_copy_tree() refuses those. bpf_token_create() doesn't. It places the token file on the bpffs mount the caller handed it and that mount is in the caller's mount namespace so the clone goes through: mount --bind /proc/self/fd/<token> <file> open_tree(tokfd, "", AT_EMPTY_PATH | OPEN_TREE_CLONE) + move_mount() __follow_mount_rcu() then loads ->mnt_root of that mount, reads d_seq and d_flags of the dentry and only then checks mount_lock. The dentry can be gone by then. The final mntput() of an unmounted parent unhooks a child that stayed attached to it under mount_lock alone. When the child's holder does the f

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: cgroup/cpuset: Don't access cpuset_cgrp_subsys.root in is_in_v2_mode() After seeing the patch [1] to guard is_in_v2_mode() with RCU, it makes me realize that is_in_v2_mode() may be called in a context where a new cgroup filesystem is being rebound with stale cpuset_cgrp_subsys.root pointer. Avoid this potential UaF situation by adding a new cpuset_v2_mode flag which is set when the cpuset_v2_mode mount option is used. This flag is written into only when cpuset_bind() is being called with a stable cpuset_cgrp_subsys.root value. The is_in_v2_mode() helper is modified to read the new cpuset_v2_mode flag instead of accessing cpuset_cgrp_subsys.root directly. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: hub: use shorter 120ms post resume hold for SS root hubs Holding a USB3 hub PM runtime reference for 200ms at hub resume triggers an AMD platform issue. Users running Android adb report crashes after adb has been polling and waking up the USB subsystem once a second for some time. Vendors are working on a solution. Disabling USB runtime PM is one way to prevent this issue, but it is also proven that reducing the hold time to 120ms in resume also mitigates it. See Link for more details. Reducing the hold time to 120ms for the USB3 roothub is in itself a valid change and optimization, as the current 200ms is excessive: a root hub has no upstream suspended hub whose wake propagation needs to be accounted for, but still need some time for USB3 link training to complete. Keep the 200ms hold for external hubs that commit 8f5b7e2bec1c ("usb: hub: fix detection of high tier USB3 devices behind suspended hubs") is intended for.

BashTool and BackgroundRunTool pass model-emitted commands to subprocess.run with shell=True and no allow-list or approval step, and read_url fetches arbitrary URLs, enabling command execution and server-side request forgery.

  • Oct 20, 2026Mozilla::CA versions before 20261020 for Perl provide a CA certificate bundle containing a root linked to compromised intermediates.CVE-2026-113812 · Other software · reported by 9b29abf9-4ab0-4765-b253-1875cd9b441e

Mozilla::CA versions before 20261020 for Perl provide a CA certificate bundle containing a root linked to compromised intermediates. The bundle includes "emSign ECC Root CA - G3", which provides a trust path for intermediate certificates whose private keys are publicly available. An attacker able to intercept or redirect client traffic may use these keys to impersonate a TLS server. LWP, HTTP::Tiny and other clients normally use IO::Socket::SSL, which looks for CA certificates in OpenSSL's default locations before falling back to Mozilla::CA. Configuration and environment variables can override this selection. Users should check which CA store their client uses. If it uses the system store, check for and install the operating system vendor's updates for this incident.

CLI Bridge provides filesystem access within a workspace root. Prior to 0.0.2, a dangling symlink pointing outside the workspace root bypasses resolveSafePath when fs.realpathSync throws ENOENT for a nonexistent target. The fallback resolves only the parent directory and returns the symlink path as safe, so write_file follows the link and can write arbitrary files outside the workspace root. This issue is fixed in version 0.0.2.

  • Oct 18, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Bound ownership depth through local kptrs and graph roots Program-allocated objects cCVE-2026-98613 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Bound ownership depth through local kptrs and graph roots Program-allocated objects can own other local objects through referenced kptrs. bpf_obj_free_fields() follows those pointers through __bpf_obj_drop_impl() synchronously, before the object storage is freed through RCU. A self-referential local kptr type therefore permits arbitrarily deep object chains, and dropping the head can exhaust the kernel stack. Long acyclic type chains have the same problem. btf_check_and_fixup_fields() still assumes referenced kptrs only point to kernel types and checks ownership through list and rbtree roots only. Its existing rule is sufficient for graph-only cycles: the target of each graph edge must contain a node, so every type in a cycle has both a root and a node. The rule rejects such a type owning another root, breaking every cycle. It also limits graph-only chains to three types, or two if the first type contains a node, and conservatively rejects longer acyclic chains. The missing local-kptr edges, rather than a missed graph-only cycle, are the bug introduced by support for bpf_kptr_xchg() into local kptrs. Repla
