  • Oct 28, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tracing: Fix crash in print_graph_function_event() tracing_set_tracer() assigns the flags CVE-2026-99141 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tracing: Fix crash in print_graph_function_event() tracing_set_tracer() assigns the flags of the newly selected tracer with: tr->current_trace_flags = t->flags ? : t->tracer->flags; If the new tracer defines neither static flags nor default flags, like hwlat, irqsoff or wakeup, add_tracer() has no per instance flags copy for it, and both operands are NULL, so tr->current_trace_flags ends up being NULL as well. The ring buffer is not cleared when switching tracers: it is reset inside tracer_init(), after current_trace_flags was already assigned. If the buffer still holds function_graph entries of the previous tracer, printing one of them dereferences the NULL pointer. This was hit by cat trace during an ftrace stress test: BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000000 #PF: supervisor read access in kernel mode RIP: 0010:print_graph_function_event+0xe/0x20 Call Trace: s_show+0x4d/0x110 seq_read_iter+0x2d4/0x490 seq_read+0x130/0x170 vfs_read+0xb5/0x370 ksys_read+0x6d/0xe0 do_syscall_64+0xbc/0x450 The snapshot buffer is not reset at all, so this can be reproduced with

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tracing: Take trace_array reference when opening a tracer options file When a tracer option file is opened, it is passed a descriptor that points to an element on the trace_array's topts array. This element has information to find the trace array and other information. It uses this element to take a reference of the trace_array so that the trace_array does not get removed while this file is opened. Unfortunately, there's a race condition where the element itself could be freed by the removal of the instance the trace_array represents causing a use-after-free as this element that is used to find the trace_array to increment its reference counter is also freed when the instance is removed. To solve this, add a trace_array_tracer_options_get() helper function that will take the address of the element that is passed to the open function by the inode->i_private pointer and search all the trace_arrays under a lock to find the one that the element's address is in the range of the trace_arrays topts array elements. When a match happens, that trace_array's reference would be increased. Note, there's a race where if an

  • Sep 17, 2026The Datadog PHP Tracer provides application performance monitoring and distributed tracing for PHP.CVE-2026-50275 · Other software · DataDog · reported by GitHubHigh 7.5

The Datadog PHP Tracer provides application performance monitoring and distributed tracing for PHP. Prior to 1.19.2, ddtrace_deserialize_baggage in ext/distributed_tracing_headers.c parses incoming W3C baggage HTTP headers without enforcing DD_TRACE_BAGGAGE_MAX_ITEMS or DD_TRACE_BAGGAGE_MAX_BYTES. A remote unauthenticated client can send an arbitrarily large number of comma-separated key-value pairs or a single oversized value, causing the tracer to allocate hash-map entries and consume unbounded CPU and memory on each request. Baggage extraction is enabled by default in most affected deployments unless baggage is removed from DD_TRACE_PROPAGATION_STYLE or DD_TRACE_PROPAGATION_STYLE_EXTRACT. This issue is fixed in version 1.19.2.

  • Aug 25, 2026Issue summary: The OpenSSL Certificate Management Protocol (CMP) caches additional certificates (extraCerts) sent in a CMP message, but never expunges them (forCVE-2026-63074 · Websites & servers · OpenSSL · reported by openssl-security@openssl.orgMedium 5.9

Issue summary: The OpenSSL Certificate Management Protocol (CMP) caches additional certificates (extraCerts) sent in a CMP message, but never expunges them (for instance if they are invalid). If a server reuses an OSSL_CMP_CTX frequently, this cache of extraCerts may grow unboundedly, and a malicious client may flood a CMP server with requests driving this growth. Impact summary: Users utilizing a CMP server that reuses a single OSSL_CMP_CTX for the lifetime of a server process may observe unbounded memory growth in the event a malicious client repeatedly sends requests containing unique extra certificates, which may lead to OOM conditions. CWE: CWE-770: Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling Description: If a remote user sends CMP messages to a server with a list of extraCerts and the message is rejected, the extraCerts from the message remains in the server contexts untrusted certificate stack. This exposes servers with long lived ctx objects to Denial of Service attacks in which an attacker sends messages intending to be rejected with a large list of additional certificates repeatedly, forcing the server to store them indefinitely. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/mlx5: fw_tracer, return NULL on create error Tracer creation can fail by returning either NULL or ERR_PTR. The return value is stored without a check on the device, and users treat ERR_PTR and NULL the same way. This also causes a crash in the core dump logic, which is missing the ERR_PTR check and ends up dereferencing it, as shown in the trace below. Switch tracer creation to return NULL on failure only, so callers only need a single NULL check. • Aug 10, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tracing: Fix resource leak on mmiotrace trace_pipe close The mmiotrace tracer was added MaCVE-2026-68175 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tracing: Fix resource leak on mmiotrace trace_pipe close The mmiotrace tracer was added May 12th 2008. At that time, resources created in pipe_open() could not be freed because there was not pipe_close function pointer of the tracer. The pipe_close function pointer was added in December 7th, 2009, but the mmiotrace tracer was not updated. mmio_pipe_open() allocates a header_iter and takes a pci_dev reference when trace_pipe is opened. mmio_close() frees them, but it was only wired to the tracer's .close callback. tracing_release_pipe() invokes .pipe_close, not .close, when the trace_pipe file is released. As a result, closing trace_pipe with the mmiotrace tracer active leaked the header_iter allocation and left a stale pci_dev reference. Set .pipe_close to mmio_close, matching how function_graph wires both callbacks to the same handler. Note, if the trace_pipe is read to completion, it will clean up the resources, but if one were to run: # head -n 1 /sys/kernel/tracing/trace_pipe VERSION 20070824 Over and over again, it would trigger a massive leak.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/mlx5: fw_tracer, Validate format string parameters Add validation for format string parameters in the firmware tracer to prevent potential security vulnerabilities and crashes from malformed format strings received from firmware. The firmware tracer receives format strings from the device firmware and uses them to format trace messages. Without proper validation, bad firmware could provide format strings with invalid format specifiers (e.g., %s, %p, %n) that could lead to crashes, or other undefined behavior. Add mlx5_tracer_validate_params() to validate that all format specifiers in trace strings are limited to safe integer/hex formats (%x, %d, %i, %u, %llx, %lx, etc.). Reject strings containing other format types that could be used to access arbitrary memory or cause crashes. Invalid format strings are added to the trace output for visibility with "BAD_FORMAT: " prefix.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tracing: Fix use-after-free in print_graph_function_flags during tracer switching Kairui reported a UAF issue in print_graph_function_flags() during ftrace stress testing [1]. This issue can be reproduced if puting a 'mdelay(10)' after 'mutex_unlock(&trace_types_lock)' in s_start(), and executing the following script: $ echo function_graph > current_tracer $ cat trace > /dev/null & $ sleep 5 # Ensure the 'cat' reaches the 'mdelay(10)' point $ echo timerlat > current_tracer The root cause lies in the two calls to print_graph_function_flags within print_trace_line during each s_show(): * One through 'iter->trace->print_line()'; * Another through 'event->funcs->trace()', which is hidden in print_trace_fmt() before print_trace_line returns. Tracer switching only updates the former, while the latter continues to use the print_line function of the old tracer, which in the script above is print_graph_function_flags. Moreover, when switching from the 'function_graph' tracer to the 'timerlat' tracer, s_start only calls graph_trace_close of the 'function_graph' tracer to free 'iter->private', but does

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tracing/osnoise: Fix resetting of tracepoints If a timerlat tracer is started with the osnoise option OSNOISE_WORKLOAD disabled, but then that option is enabled and timerlat is removed, the tracepoints that were enabled on timerlat registration do not get disabled. If the option is disabled again and timelat is started, then it triggers a warning in the tracepoint code due to registering the tracepoint again without ever disabling it. Do not use the same user space defined options to know to disable the tracepoints when timerlat is removed. Instead, set a global flag when it is enabled and use that flag to know to disable the events. ~# echo NO_OSNOISE_WORKLOAD > /sys/kernel/tracing/osnoise/options ~# echo timerlat > /sys/kernel/tracing/current_tracer ~# echo OSNOISE_WORKLOAD > /sys/kernel/tracing/osnoise/options ~# echo nop > /sys/kernel/tracing/current_tracer ~# echo NO_OSNOISE_WORKLOAD > /sys/kernel/tracing/osnoise/options ~# echo timerlat > /sys/kernel/tracing/current_tracer Triggers: ------------[ cut here ]------------ WARNING: CPU: 6 PID: 1337 at kernel/tracepoint.c:294 tracepoint_add_func+0x3b

  • Sep 27, 2024In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tracing/timerlat: Only clear timer if a kthread exists The timerlat tracer can use user spCVE-2024-46845 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.8

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tracing/timerlat: Only clear timer if a kthread exists The timerlat tracer can use user space threads to check for osnoise and timer latency. If the program using this is killed via a SIGTERM, the threads are shutdown one at a time and another tracing instance can start up resetting the threads before they are fully closed. That causes the hrtimer assigned to the kthread to be shutdown and freed twice when the dying thread finally closes the file descriptors, causing a use-after-free bug. Only cancel the hrtimer if the associated thread is still around. Also add the interface_lock around the resetting of the tlat_var->kthread. Note, this is just a quick fix that can be backported to stable. A real fix is to have a better synchronization between the shutdown of old threads and the starting of new ones.

  • Sep 11, 2024A vulnerability in the multicast traceroute version 2 (Mtrace2) feature of Cisco IOS XR Software could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to exhaust the CVE-2024-20304 · Network & remote access · Cisco · reported by psirt@cisco.comHigh 8.6

A vulnerability in the multicast traceroute version 2 (Mtrace2) feature of Cisco IOS XR Software could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to exhaust the UDP packet memory of an affected device. This vulnerability exists because the Mtrace2 code does not properly handle packet memory. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted packets to an affected device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to exhaust the incoming UDP packet memory. The affected device would not be able to process higher-level UDP-based protocols packets, possibly causing a denial of service (DoS) condition. Note: This vulnerability can be exploited using IPv4 or IPv6.
