Oct 28, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: bsg: Pass reply_len to bsg_setup_queue() to fit UFS ARPMB replies bsg-lib allocates CVE-2026-99157 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: bsg: Pass reply_len to bsg_setup_queue() to fit UFS ARPMB replies bsg-lib allocates a 96-byte (SCSI_SENSE_BUFFERSIZE) reply buffer per job, but struct ufs_rpmb_reply is 104 bytes: a 40-byte struct ufs_bsg_reply followed by a 64-byte EHS. When an Advanced RPMB command returns an EHS, ufshcd_advanced_rpmb_req_handler() copies it right after the 40-byte header and writes 8 bytes past the end of the buffer. Let each BSG transport pass its reply buffer size to bsg_setup_queue() and have ufs_bsg request sizeof(struct ufs_rpmb_reply), so the full reply reaches user space. Other transports keep SCSI_SENSE_BUFFERSIZE.

The system certificate authority (CA) store in Red Hat products, distributed via ca-certificates RPM packages, included multiple root CA certificates of authorities, which signed intermediate CA certificates with weak private keys issued by the eMudhra certificate authority. A man-in-the-middle attacker could use this flaw to issue certificates for arbitrary host names signed by the weak intermediate CA certificates, which would be considered trusted by a TLS/SSL client using system CA store and cause such clients to connect to malicious sites. Due to inability to only distrust specific intermediate certificates in all clients using the system CA store, root CA certificates of authorities that signed weak intermediate CA certificates are being removed.

Oct 6, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: hwmon: (pwm-fan) Stop RPM timer before freeing tach data sample_timer() rearms the RPM timCVE-2026-98198 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: hwmon: (pwm-fan) Stop RPM timer before freeing tach data sample_timer() rearms the RPM timer and accesses the devm-managed ctx->tachs and ctx->pulses_per_revolution arrays. The cleanup action which stops the timer is registered before those arrays are allocated. Since devres releases entries in reverse order, driver detach can free the arrays before pwm_fan_cleanup() shuts down the timer. A timer expiry in that window accesses the freed tach data. With a KASAN kernel, a test-only kprobe delayed entry to pwm_fan_cleanup() while normal sysfs unbind ran. Each of three runs reported three four-byte reads and two four-byte writes in sample_timer() after its backing devm allocations had been freed. The helper did not invoke the timer callback, cleanup actions or free functions. With the fix, three matching unbind runs completed without KASAN, BUG, WARNING, Oops or panic. Instrumentation confirmed that timer retirement completed before the first timer backing allocation was released. Split timer retirement from the power cleanup and register its devres action after the timer backing data and IRQ actions are installe

Sep 30, 2026A heap-based buffer overflow flaw was found in rpm.CVE-2026-103242 · Other software · Red Hat · reported by Red HatHigh 7.1
A heap-based buffer overflow flaw was found in rpm. RPMTAG_FILESIGNATURES in a crafted, unsigned RPM package's main header is declared with the wrong header type, causing hex2binv() to allocate a one-byte buffer and then write the tag's attacker-controlled, hex-decoded content — of attacker-chosen length — past the end of that allocation. This is reachable via rpm2cpio, rpm2archive, and rpm -qlvp on an untrusted package.

Sep 29, 2026A heap-based buffer overflow flaw was found in rpm.CVE-2026-95520 · Other software · Red Hat · reported by Red HatHigh 7.1
A heap-based buffer overflow flaw was found in rpm. Parsing a symlink entry in an untrusted RPM package whose declared RPMTAG_LONGFILESIZES value is 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF causes an integer overflow in iterReadArchiveNext() that shrinks a buffer allocation to one byte, after which the payload's independently-controlled cpio filesize field is used to write attacker-controlled data past the end of that allocation. This is reachable via rpm2cpio, rpm2archive, and rpm -qlvp on an untrusted package.

Sep 25, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: btqcomsmd: destroy RPMsg endpoints before freeing hci_dev The command and ACL RCVE-2026-97908 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: btqcomsmd: destroy RPMsg endpoints before freeing hci_dev The command and ACL RPMsg endpoints store struct btqcomsmd as their callback private data. The receive callbacks dereference btq->hdev without taking an hci_dev reference. The current teardown order frees the hci_dev before destroying the RPMsg endpoints in both the hci_register_dev() error path and the driver remove path. If WCNSS delivers data in that window, the endpoint callback can run with an already freed hci_dev and pass it to the Bluetooth core. For qcom_smd endpoints, rpmsg_destroy_ept() closes the channel and clears the callback under the channel recv_lock. The receive path holds the same lock while invoking the callback, so destroying the endpoints first both prevents new callbacks and serializes with any callback already running. Destroy the command and ACL endpoints before hci_free_dev(). Keep hci_unregister_dev() first during remove so the HCI core stops issuing operations before the transport endpoints are shut down. In the full registration-error cleanup path, return directly after freeing the hci_dev to avoid falling through

Sep 24, 2026A command injection flaw was found in rpm.CVE-2026-95521 · Other software · Red Hat · reported by Red HatHigh 7.8
A command injection flaw was found in rpm. Installing or rebuilding a source RPM whose source or spec file basenames contain a %() macro construct causes rpm to execute an attacker-controlled shell command via popen() while relocating the source file list. This allows arbitrary command execution as the invoking (typically non-root) user, simply by installing, rebuilding, or otherwise processing an untrusted .src.rpm.

Sep 24, 2026A flaw was found in rpm.CVE-2026-95519 · Other software · Red Hat · reported by Red HatHigh 7.8
A flaw was found in rpm. An attacker can supply a crafted manifest file that, when processed by a user or automation using `rpm -q -p` or similar manifest-processing flows, leads to arbitrary code execution. This occurs because manifest entries are unexpectedly macro-expanded before being opened, allowing embedded shell commands to run with the privileges of the `rpm` process. Successful exploitation can lead to a full compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability for the affected account.

Sep 17, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: rpmsg: glink: fix deadlock in endpoint destroy during driver detach During driver detach, CVE-2026-93098 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: rpmsg: glink: fix deadlock in endpoint destroy during driver detach During driver detach, the device core holds the device mutex throughout the driver's remove callback chain. When the rpmsg endpoint is destroyed as part of that teardown, the GLINK endpoint destroy implementation attempts to unregister the underlying rpmsg device. That unregistration calls device_del(), which tries to re-acquire the same device mutex already held higher up the stack, causing rmmod to hang indefinitely. The deadlock manifests with the following call chain: [<0>] device_del+0x44/0x414 <- tries to acquire same mutex [<0>] device_unregister+0x18/0x34 [<0>] rpmsg_unregister_device+0x28/0x4c [<0>] qcom_glink_remove_rpmsg_device+0x70/0xc0 [<0>] qcom_glink_destroy_ept+0x58/0xbc [<0>] rpmsg_dev_remove+0x50/0x60 [<0>] device_remove+0x4c/0x80 [<0>] device_release_driver_internal+0x1cc/0x228 <- acquires device mutex [<0>] driver_detach+0x4c/0x98 [<0>] bus_remove_driver+0x6c/0xbc [<0>] driver_unregister+0x30/0x60 [<0>] unregister_rpmsg_driver+0x10/0x1c [<0>] fastrpc_exit+0x28/0x38 [fastrpc] [<0>] __arm64_sys_delete_module+0x1b8/0x294 [<0

Sep 17, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mailbox: riscv-sbi-mpxy: validate RPMI notification lengths The SBI return value controls CVE-2026-90191 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 8.4
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mailbox: riscv-sbi-mpxy: validate RPMI notification lengths The SBI return value controls how many bytes are copied from shared memory into the RPMI notification buffer. It is not validated against the negotiated shared-memory size before that copy. The event walker also uses a reversed loop condition and can inspect a short event record. Validate the complete notification length before copying it, iterate only while a full event header remains, and stop when a declared event payload extends beyond the copied notification data.

Aug 28, 2026A flaw was found in libsolv, a dependency-resolution library used by RPM-based package managers such as dnf and zypper to work with .solv repository cache filesCVE-2026-82327 · Other software · Red Hat · reported by Red HatMedium 5.5
A flaw was found in libsolv, a dependency-resolution library used by RPM-based package managers such as dnf and zypper to work with .solv repository cache files. When libsolv rewrites a .solv cache file, it reads directory-id values from the file's compressed filelist data without validating that they fall within the expected range. A corrupted or specially crafted .solv cache file (for example, one left in a torn state after an unclean system shutdown) can cause an out-of-bounds memory write when a tool such as dnf, yum, or zypper next processes it. Successful exploitation is expected to result in a crash of the affected tool (denial of service); it is not expected to allow arbitrary code execution because the out-of-bounds write always stores a fixed, non-attacker-controlled value.

Aug 24, 2026A vulnerability was found in RPM's rpmbuild tarball processing.CVE-2026-78367 · Other software · Red Hat · reported by Red HatHigh 7
A vulnerability was found in RPM's rpmbuild tarball processing. When processing a crafted source archive, the getTarSpec() function in tools/rpmbuild.cc passes an attacker-controlled tar archive member name to rpmExpand() as part of a %{basename:...} macro expression. A specially crafted .spec member name can therefore inject RPM macros, including Lua expressions, resulting in arbitrary code execution with the privileges of the user running rpmbuild. This can be exploited when a victim or automated build system processes an attacker-controlled source tarball using rpmbuild tarball mode (such as -ts, -ta, or -tb).

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: hwmon: (aspeed-g6-pwm-tach) Guard fan RPM calculation against divide-by-zero Sashiko reports: In the aspeed-g6-pwm-tacho driver, the aspeed_tach_val_to_rpm() function calculates the fan RPM using the tachometer value. However, it does not check if the tachometer value is zero before performing the division. If the hardware reports a tachometer value of 0 (which can happen due to an extremely fast pulse, a stuck edge, or a hardware glitch), the calculated tach_div evaluates to 0. The subsequent call to do_div() with tach_div as the divisor triggers a divide-by-zero exception, leading to a kernel panic. Check the divisor against zero to fix the problem.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: accel/amdxdna: Fix race condition when checking rpm_on When autosuspend is triggered, driver rpm_on flag is set to indicate that a suspend/resume is already in progress. However, when a userspace application submits a command during this narrow window, amdxdna_pm_resume_get() may incorrectly skip the resume operation because the rpm_on flag is still set. This results in commands being submitted while the device has not actually resumed, causing unexpected behavior. The set_dpm() is called by suspend/resume, it relied on rpm_on flag to avoid calling into rpm suspend/resume recursivly. So to fix this, remove the use of the rpm_on flag entirely. Instead, introduce aie2_pm_set_dpm() which explicitly resumes the device before invoking set_dpm(). With this change, set_dpm() is called directly inside the suspend or resume execution path. Otherwise, aie2_pm_set_dpm() is called.

May 9, 2026pyp2spec generates working Fedora RPM spec file for Python projects.CVE-2026-42301 · Other software · befeleme · reported by GitHubHigh 7.8
pyp2spec generates working Fedora RPM spec file for Python projects. Prior to version 0.14.1, pyp2spec was writing PyPI package metadata (e.g. the summary field) into the generated spec file without escaping RPM macro directives. When a packager then runs rpmbuild, those directives get evaluated, so a malicious package can execute arbitrary commands on the build machine. This issue has been patched in version 0.14.1.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: ufs: core: Flush exception handling work when RPM level is zero Ensure that the exception event handling work is explicitly flushed during suspend when the runtime power management level is set to UFS_PM_LVL_0. When the RPM level is zero, the device power mode and link state both remain active. Previously, the UFS core driver bypassed flushing exception event handling jobs in this configuration. This created a race condition where the driver could attempt to access the host controller to handle an exception after the system had already entered a deep power-down state, resulting in a system crash. Explicitly flush this work and disable auto BKOPs before the suspend callback proceeds. This guarantees that pending exception tasks complete and prevents illegal hardware access during the power-down sequence.

May 6, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: rpmsg: core: fix race in driver_override_show() and use core helper The driver_override_shCVE-2025-71274 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.8
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: rpmsg: core: fix race in driver_override_show() and use core helper The driver_override_show function reads the driver_override string without holding the device_lock. However, the store function modifies and frees the string while holding the device_lock. This creates a race condition where the string can be freed by the store function while being read by the show function, leading to a use-after-free. To fix this, replace the rpmsg_string_attr macro with explicit show and store functions. The new driver_override_store uses the standard driver_set_override helper. Since the introduction of driver_set_override, the comments in include/linux/rpmsg.h have stated that this helper must be used to set or clear driver_override, but the implementation was not updated until now. Because driver_set_override modifies and frees the string while holding the device_lock, the new driver_override_show now correctly holds the device_lock during the read operation to prevent the race. Additionally, since rpmsg_string_attr has only ever been used for driver_override, removing the macro simplifies the code.

A flaw was found in rust-rpm-sequoia. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by providing a specially crafted Red Hat Package Manager (RPM) file. During the RPM signature verification process, this crafted file can trigger an error in the OpenPGP signature parsing code, leading to an unconditional termination of the rpm process. This issue results in an application level denial of service, making the system unable to process RPM files for signature verification.
