  • Sep 25, 2026A use-after-free vulnerability was found in QEMU's 9pfs subsystem.CVE-2026-93834 · Other software · Red Hat · reported by Red HatHigh 8.8

A use-after-free vulnerability was found in QEMU's 9pfs subsystem. A race condition between the main thread and a worker thread when processing concurrent Tlcreate and Twalk requests allows a malicious guest user to craft a fid path containing stale heap data, bypassing directory traversal restrictions and escaping the shared directory boundary. This can lead to arbitrary host file read/write and code execution (VM escape) as the QEMU process user.

  • Sep 25, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/cirrus-qemu: Validate BAR0 size during probe The `cirrus-qemu` driver relies on `CIRRUCVE-2026-98142 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Medium 5.5

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/cirrus-qemu: Validate BAR0 size during probe The `cirrus-qemu` driver relies on `CIRRUS_VRAM_SIZE` (4 MB) to validate framebuffer sizes. However, during PCI probe, the driver mapped BAR0 without verifying that its size matches `CIRRUS_VRAM_SIZE`. If a PCI device with a BAR0 smaller than 4 MB is bound to the driver, the mapped VRAM will be smaller than expected. Because validation checks assume 4 MB VRAM, framebuffers larger than the mapped memory can be created. When the display plane is updated (e.g. during release), `cirrus_primary_plane_helper_atomic_update()` copies the framebuffer to VRAM using `drm_fb_memcpy()`. Writing past the end of the mapped I/O memory causes a supervisor write page fault: BUG: unable to handle page fault for address: ffffc9000389c000 ... • Sep 18, 2026virtio-win provides Windows paravirtualized drivers for QEMU and KVM.CVE-2026-46655 · Other software · virtio-win · reported by GitHubHigh 7.8

virtio-win provides Windows paravirtualized drivers for QEMU and KVM. From mm210 until mm320, the Viosock driver permits a low-privilege local process to submit an IOCTL_SELECT request with attacker-controlled VIRTIO_VSOCK_SELECT.Fdss[*].fd_count values that overflow the 32-bit sum used by VIOSockSelect for bounds checking. The wrapped sum can pass the FD_SETSIZE check even though an individual descriptor count is much larger than the expected limit. VIOSockSelectCopyFds then iterates using the unchecked count and writes beyond the allocated pPkt->Fds array in the NonPagedPool kernel heap. Successful exploitation can corrupt kernel memory and enable privilege escalation in a Windows guest running the driver. This issue is fixed in mm320.

  • Sep 18, 2026A flaw was found in QEMU.CVE-2026-81627 · Other software · Red Hat · reported by Red HatHigh 8.2

A flaw was found in QEMU. The VAPIC setup hypercall in hw/i386/vapic.c does not validate that the writable RAM alias remains within the option ROM window. A privileged guest user on a Q35/KVM machine can position this alias over locked SMRAM, bypassing chipset D_LCK protection and injecting code into System Management Mode memory.

  • Sep 16, 2026A flaw was found in quay-builder-qemu.CVE-2026-85469 · Other software · Red Hat · reported by Red HatHigh 8

A flaw was found in quay-builder-qemu. A remote attacker could exploit this by compromising the upstream `Noelware/docker-manifest-action` used in the release workflow, which is pinned to a mutable branch. This allows the attacker to inject arbitrary code, leading to the exfiltration of sensitive registry credentials or the publication of malicious images. The workflow also exposes the default GitHub token, increasing the severity of the compromise.

A symlink-following flaw was found in libvirt's qemuTPMEmulatorPrepareHost() function. The function uses a path-based chown() on the swtpm logfile without checking for symbolic links. A local attacker with access to the swtpm account can replace the logfile with a symlink, causing libvirtd (running as root) to transfer ownership of an arbitrary file to the swtpm user.

  • Aug 10, 2026A type mismatch vulnerability was found in QEMU's vhost inflight migration VMState handling.CVE-2026-6426 · Other software · Red Hat · reported by Red HatMedium 4.4

A type mismatch vulnerability was found in QEMU's vhost inflight migration VMState handling. The destination buffer size is stored as a uint64_t but read by the VMS_VBUFFER load path as a signed int32_t. On little-endian hosts, a crafted incoming migration state with bit 31 set causes the value to be interpreted as negative and then implicitly converted to a very large size_t, leading qemu_get_buffer() to copy migration-stream data beyond the bounds of the mmap-backed inflight region. This can result in a crash of the QEMU process or memory corruption. Exploitation requires control of the migration producer or write access to the migration channel, combined with a destination configured to use vhost inflight migration.

  • Jul 20, 2026A flaw was found in the QEMU Guest Agent (qga).CVE-2026-12080 · Other software · Red Hat · reported by Red HatHigh 7.3

A flaw was found in the QEMU Guest Agent (qga). A local unprivileged user can exploit a vulnerability in the guest-ssh-add-authorized-keys command handler by manipulating symbolic links. This can occur either through a deterministic directory-symlink bypass or a Time-of-Check to Time-of-Use (TOCTOU) file-symlink race. Successful exploitation allows the attacker to gain ownership of arbitrary root-owned files or directories, leading to root access. This vulnerability requires an external management layer (e.g., libvirt) to trigger the affected code path.

  • Feb 18, 2026A flaw was found in QEMU in the uefi-vars virtual device.CVE-2025-8860 · Other software · Red Hat · reported by patrick@puiterwijk.orgLow 3.3

A flaw was found in QEMU in the uefi-vars virtual device. When the guest writes to register UEFI_VARS_REG_BUFFER_SIZE, the .write callback `uefi_vars_write` is invoked. The function allocates a heap buffer without zeroing the memory, leaving the buffer filled with residual data from prior allocations. When the guest later reads from register UEFI_VARS_REG_PIO_BUFFER_TRANSFER, the .read callback `uefi_vars_read` returns leftover metadata or other sensitive process memory from the previously allocated buffer, leading to an information disclosure vulnerability.

  • Jun 10, 2025Libtpms is a library that targets the integration of TPM functionality into hypervisors, primarily into Qemu.CVE-2025-49133 · Other software · stefanberger · reported by GitHubMedium 5.9

Libtpms is a library that targets the integration of TPM functionality into hypervisors, primarily into Qemu. Libtpms, which is derived from the TPM 2.0 reference implementation code published by the Trusted Computing Group, is prone to a potential out of bounds (OOB) read vulnerability. The vulnerability occurs in the ‘CryptHmacSign’ function with an inconsistent pairing of the signKey and signScheme parameters, where the signKey is ALG_KEYEDHASH key and inScheme is an ECC or RSA scheme. The reported vulnerability is in the ‘CryptHmacSign’ function, which is defined in the "Part 4: Supporting Routines – Code" document, section "7.151 - /tpm/src/crypt/CryptUtil.c ". This vulnerability can be triggered from user-mode applications by sending malicious commands to a TPM 2.0/vTPM (swtpm) whose firmware is based on an affected TCG reference implementation. The effect on libtpms is that it will cause an abort due to the detection of the out-of-bounds access, thus for example making a vTPM (swtpm) unavailable to a VM. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.7.12, 0.8.10, 0.9.7, and 0.10.1.
