  • Oct 2, 2026The postgresql-operator charm runs a Prometheus postgres_exporter to collect database metrics using a dedicated "monitoring" PostgreSQL user.CVE-2026-104055 · Other software · Canonical · reported by security@ubuntu.comMedium 5.3

The postgresql-operator charm runs a Prometheus postgres_exporter to collect database metrics using a dedicated "monitoring" PostgreSQL user. On database connection errors, the exporter writes the monitoring user's password in cleartext to its logs. Any actor able to read those logs can recover the password, which grants read-only pg_monitor access to PostgreSQL. This is fixed in the dev track (14/edge) in revisions 1189 (arm64) and 1190 (amd64), and in the stable track (14/stable) in revisions 1216 (arm64) and 1217 (amd64).

The OpenClaw Prometheus diagnostics plugin (@openclaw/diagnostics-prometheus) before version 2026.9.3 does not enforce the operator.read scope on its authenticated metrics endpoint. In deployments using an identity-bearing Gateway authentication mode such as trusted-proxy, a caller whose effective role has no read scope can retrieve the diagnostics document even though ordinary read methods reject the same identity, disclosing operational metrics to an authenticated profile intentionally limited below read access. Shared-secret Gateway callers already hold the documented full operator scope and are not affected. The issue is fixed in 2026.9.3; as a workaround, disable the Prometheus endpoint or ensure every identity that can reach it is intended to hold operator.read.

  • Aug 27, 2026Grafana Alloy’s prometheus.operator.servicemonitors component allows a user who can create or modify ServiceMonitor resources in a watched namespace to specify CVE-2026-75889 · Other software · Grafana · reported by security@grafana.comHigh 7.7

Grafana Alloy’s prometheus.operator.servicemonitors component allows a user who can create or modify ServiceMonitor resources in a watched namespace to specify an arbitrary local file through bearerTokenFile. Alloy reads the file and sends its contents as a bearer token to an attacker-controlled scrape endpoint. This may disclose files accessible to the Alloy process, including its projected Kubernetes service account token, potentially granting the attacker Alloy’s Kubernetes permissions. Exploitation requires ServiceMonitor write access and lower privileges than Alloy’s service account.

  • Aug 19, 2026In Splunk Enterprise 10.4 versions below 10.4.2, an unauthenticated user could read Prometheus service metrics from the Edge Processor SPL2 Preview sidecar, incCVE-2026-76262 · Other software · Splunk · reported by psirt@cisco.comHigh 7.5

In Splunk Enterprise 10.4 versions below 10.4.2, an unauthenticated user could read Prometheus service metrics from the Edge Processor SPL2 Preview sidecar, including service details that expose relevant runtime and build metadata for the sidecar. The vulnerability does not affect Splunk Enterprise versions below 10.4. The information disclosure is possible because the Prometheus metrics endpoint in the Edge Processor SPL2 Preview sidecar lacks authentication, which lets any client that can reach the sidecar retrieve the metrics without credentials. For more information see About Splunk sidecars (https://help.splunk.com/en/splunk-enterprise/administer/admin-manual/10.4/splunk-sidecars/about-splunk-sidecars) in the Splunk documentation.

Prometheus is an open-source monitoring system and time series database. From 2.49.0 to before 3.5.3 and 3.11.3, in the Prometheus server's legacy web UI (enabled via the command-line flag --enable-feature=old-ui), the histogram heatmap chart view does not escape le label values when inserting them into the HTML for use as axis tick mark labels. Prometheus is an open-source monitoring system and time series database. Prior to versions 3.5.3 and 3.11.3, the remote read endpoint (/api/v1/read) does not validate the declared decoded length in a snappy-compressed request body before allocating memory. An unauthenticated attacker can send a small payload that causes a huge heap allocation per request. Under concurrent load this can exhaust available memory and crash the Prometheus process. Prometheus is an open-source monitoring system and time series database. Prior to versions 3.5.3 and 3.11.3, the client_secret field in the Azure AD remote write OAuth configuration (storage/remote/azuread) was typed as string instead of Secret. Prometheus redacts fields of type Secret when serving the configuration via the /-/config HTTP API endpoint. Because the field was a plain string, the Azure OAuth client secret was exposed in plaintext to any user or process with access to that endpoint. This issue has been patched in versions 3.5.3 and 3.11.3.

Improper Certificate Validation via Global SSL Context Downgrade in Apache Storm Prometheus Reporter Versions Affected: from 2.6.3 to 2.8.6 Description:  In production deployments where an administrator enables storm.daemon.metrics.reporter.plugin.prometheus.skip_tls_validation (by default it is disabled) intending to affect only the Prometheus reporter, the undocumented global side effect creates an attack surface across every TLS-protected communication channel in the Storm daemon. The PrometheusPreparableReporter class implements an INSECURE_TRUST_MANAGER that accepts all SSL certificates without validation, with empty checkClientTrusted and checkServerTrusted methods. Most critically, when the storm.daemon.metrics.reporter.plugin.prometheus.skip_tls_validation configuration option is enabled (default = disabled) for HTTPS Prometheus PushGateway connections, the INSECURE_CONNECTION_FACTORY calls SSLContext.setDefault(sslContext), which globally replaces the JVM's default SSL context rather than applying the insecure context only to the Prometheus connection. • Apr 15, 2026Prometheus is an open-source monitoring system and time series database.CVE-2026-40179 · Other software · prometheus · reported by GitHubMedium 5.3

Prometheus is an open-source monitoring system and time series database. Versions 3.0 through 3.5.1 and 3.6.0 through 3.11.1 have stored cross-site scripting vulnerabilities in multiple components of the Prometheus web UI where metric names and label values are injected into innerHTML without escaping. In both the Mantine UI and old React UI, chart tooltips on the Graph page render metric names containing HTML/JavaScript without sanitization. In the old React UI, the Metric Explorer fuzzy search results use dangerouslySetInnerHTML without escaping, and heatmap cell tooltips interpolate le label values without sanitization. With Prometheus v3.x defaulting to UTF-8 metric and label name validation, characters like <, >, and " are now valid in metric names and labels. An attacker who can inject metrics via a compromised scrape target, remote write, or OTLP receiver endpoint can execute arbitrary JavaScript in the browser of any Prometheus user who views the metric in the Graph UI, potentially enabling configuration exfiltration, data deletion, or Prometheus shutdown depending on enabled flags. This issue has been fixed in versions 3.5.2 and 3.11.2. If developers are unable to immediat

openITCOCKPIT is an open source monitoring tool built for different monitoring engines like Nagios, Naemon and Prometheus. openITCOCKPIT Community Edition 5.3.1 and earlier contains an unsafe PHP deserialization pattern in the processing of changelog entries. Serialized changelog data derived from attacker-influenced application state is unserialized without restricting allowed classes. Although no current application endpoint was found to introduce PHP objects into this data path, the presence of an unrestricted unserialize() call constitutes a latent PHP object injection vulnerability. If future code changes, plugins, or refactors introduce object values into this path, the vulnerability could become immediately exploitable with severe impact, including potential remote code execution.

openITCOCKPIT is an open source monitoring tool built for different monitoring engines like Nagios, Naemon and Prometheus. Versions 5.3.1 and below contain an unsafe deserialization sink in the Gearman worker implementation. The worker function registered as oitc_gearman calls PHP's unserialize() on job payloads without enforcing class restrictions or validating data origin. While the intended deployment assumes only trusted internal components enqueue Gearman jobs, this trust boundary is not enforced in application code. In environments where the Gearman service or worker is exposed to untrusted systems, an attacker may submit crafted serialized payloads to trigger PHP Object Injection in the worker process. This vulnerability is exploitable when Gearman listens on non-local interfaces, network access to TCP/4730 is unrestricted, or untrusted systems can enqueue jobs. Default, correctly hardened deployments may not be immediately exploitable, but the unsafe sink remains present in code regardless of deployment configuration. Enforcing this trust boundary in code would significantly reduce risk and prevent exploitation in misconfigured environments. This issue has been fixed in ver

Cortex provides multi-tenant, long term storage for Prometheus. A local file inclusion vulnerability exists in Cortex versions 1.13.0, 1.13.1 and 1.14.0, where a malicious actor could remotely read local files as a result of parsing maliciously crafted Alertmanager configurations when submitted to the Alertmanager Set Configuration API. Only users of the Alertmanager service where `-experimental.alertmanager.enable-api` or `enable_api: true` is configured are affected. Affected Cortex users are advised to upgrade to patched versions 1.13.2 or 1.14.1. client_golang is the instrumentation library for Go applications in Prometheus, and the promhttp package in client_golang provides tooling around HTTP servers and clients. In client_golang prior to version 1.11.1, HTTP server is susceptible to a Denial of Service through unbounded cardinality, and potential memory exhaustion, when handling requests with non-standard HTTP methods. In order to be affected, an instrumented software must use any of `promhttp.InstrumentHandler*` middleware except `RequestsInFlight`; not filter any specific methods (e.g GET) before middleware; pass metric with `method` label name to our middleware; and not have any firewall/LB/proxy that filters away requests with unknown `method`. client_golang version 1.11.1 contains a patch for this issue. Several workarounds are available, including removing the `method` label name from counter/gauge used in the InstrumentHandler; turning off affected promhttp handlers; adding custom middleware before promhttp handler that will sanitize the request method given by Go http.Request; and using a reverse proxy or web application firewall, configured to only allow a limited set of methods.

Due to a bug in the code, it is possible for an attacker to craft an URL that can redirect to any other URL, in the /new endpoint. If a user visits a prometheus server with a specially crafted address, they can be redirected to an arbitrary URL. The issue was patched in the 2.26.1 and 2.27.1 releases. Where this comes from: the exploited list is CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Everything else is the whole National Vulnerability Database, where each record is published by the team that found the bug (Wordfence, Patchstack, WPScan, the vendors themselves and others); we show who. Exploit odds are FIRST’s EPSS, updated daily. Titles and categories are ours, so check the linked record before acting on a detail. For a write-up of the big ones, see our advisories. Every vendor, and every WordPress plugin and theme with a recorded flaw, also has its own page. All of it is free to reuse as JSON, CSV or RSS.
