  • Oct 9, 2026OpenPrinting CUPS before 2.4.20 contains a NULL pointer dereference in cupsdCheckJobs() when a job marked job-held-on-create refers to a temporary printer that CVE-2026-107888 · Other software · OpenPrinting · reported by MITREMedium 5.1

OpenPrinting CUPS before 2.4.20 contains a NULL pointer dereference in cupsdCheckJobs() when a job marked job-held-on-create refers to a temporary printer that has been automatically deleted. Temporary-printer cleanup can remove the destination without canceling its held jobs, and the scheduler dereferences the NULL result of cupsdFindDest() while checking holding_new_jobs. This terminates cupsd and interrupts all queues managed by that process. In some plausible scenarios, an unprivileged submission can trigger this.

  • Oct 9, 2026OpenPrinting CUPS before 2.4.20 contains a double-free in printer-class management.CVE-2026-107886 · Other software · OpenPrinting · reported by MITRELow 2.3

OpenPrinting CUPS before 2.4.20 contains a double-free in printer-class management. When CUPS-Add-Modify-Class replaces an existing class member list, add_class() frees pclass->printers without clearing the pointer. If subsequent validation fails, the class retains the dangling pointer; CUPS-Delete-Class subsequently frees the same allocation in cupsdDeletePrinter(). A client authorized to modify and delete classes can cause scheduler-wide denial of service. The default policy requires @SYSTEM privileges.

Sharp (and Toshiba Tec rebranded) multifunction printers contain an unauthenticated local file inclusion vulnerability that allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files by manipulating the path parameter in the installed_emanual_down.html endpoint. Attackers can supply directory traversal sequences such as path=/manual/../../../<path> to access files outside the intended manual directory, including /etc/passwd, coredump files containing credentials, and system configuration files. Exploitation evidence was first observed by the Shadowserver Foundation on 2024-07-30.

  • Aug 21, 2026OctoPrint provides a web interface for controlling consumer 3D printers.CVE-2026-54134 · Other software · OctoPrint · reported by GitHubHigh 7

OctoPrint provides a web interface for controlling consumer 3D printers. Prior to 1.11.8 and 2.0.0rc3, OctoPrint's custom Tornado upload handler and Flask with Werkzeug parse request parameters differently, allowing an attacker with FILE_UPLOAD permission to inject reserved internal upload fields through query parameters or parser differentials despite the earlier GHSA-m9jh-jf9h-x3h2 fix. The affected endpoints are /api/files/{local|sdcard}, /api/languages, /plugin/backup/restore, and /plugin/pluginmanager/upload_file. An attacker can make OctoPrint treat an arbitrary host file as a temporary upload, move it into a downloadable upload directory, disclose configuration secrets or other readable files, and remove runtime files in a way that can affect a later restart. This issue is fixed in versions 1.11.8 and 2.0.0rc3.

Prior to 1.11.8 and 2.0.0rc3, Suppressed Command notification popups use PNotify rendering for printer-controlled payload.command and payload.message values in src/octoprint/static/js/app/viewmodels/terminal.js without HTML escaping. An attacker who convinces a victim to print a crafted file can inject HTML and JavaScript into the notification, disrupt prints, read information available to the victim including sensitive settings when permitted, or perform actions in the victim's OctoPrint session. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: gadget: printer: fix infinite loop in printer_read() printer_read() uses the same variable for the requested copy size and the number of bytes actually copied to user space. copy_to_user() returns the number of bytes not copied, so when it fails to copy anything, the computed copied length becomes zero. In that case len, buf, current_rx_bytes and current_rx_buf are left unchanged. If RX data is available and the user buffer remains unwritable, the read loop can repeat indefinitely. Track the copied length separately and return -EFAULT, or the number of bytes already copied, if an iteration makes no progress.

An insecure process execution vulnerability exists in the pc-printer-updater.exe component of the PaperCut Print Deploy Client for Windows. The application, which typically operates with high-level system privileges, attempts to perform an internal validation check by invoking a secondary system utility using an unqualified file reference. Because the application does not specify an absolute path to this utility, it relies on the operating system's default search order to locate the executable. Under specific conditions, a local attacker with the ability to modify directories within the system's search path could plant a malicious binary that mimics the expected utility. This could result in the malicious code being executed with SYSTEM privileges, leading to a full compromise of the affected host.

Although it invokes the AuthorizationCopyRights API, it does so using overly permissive custom rights that it registers in the system’s authorization database (/var/db/auth.db). These rights can be requested and granted by the authorization daemon to any local user, regardless of privilege level. As a result, an attacker can exploit the vulnerable service to perform privileged operations such as executing arbitrary commands or installing system components without requiring administrative credentials.

Path traversal vulnerability in the AMR Printer Management 1.01 Beta web service, which allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files from the underlying Windows system by using specially crafted path traversal sequences in requests directed to the web management service. The service is accessible without authentication and runs with elevated privileges, amplifying the impact of the vulnerability. An attacker can exploit this condition to access sensitive and privileged files on the system using path traversal payloads. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to the unauthorized disclosure of internal system information, compromising the confidentiality of the affected environment.

Certain HP OfficeJet Pro printers may expose information if Cross‑Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) is misconfigured, potentially allowing unauthorized web origins to access device resource. CORS is disabled by default on Pro‑class devices and can only be enabled by an administrator through the Embedded Web Server (EWS). Keeping CORS disabled unless explicitly required helps ensure that only trusted solutions can interact with the device.

  • Jan 27, 2026OctoPrint provides a web interface for controlling consumer 3D printers.CVE-2026-23892 · Other software · OctoPrint · reported by GitHubMedium 6

OctoPrint provides a web interface for controlling consumer 3D printers. OctoPrint versions up to and including 1.11.5 are affected by a (theoretical) timing attack vulnerability that allows API key extraction over the network. Due to using character based comparison that short-circuits on the first mismatched character during API key validation, rather than a cryptographical method with static runtime regardless of the point of mismatch, an attacker with network based access to an affected OctoPrint could extract API keys valid on the instance by measuring the response times of the denied access responses and guess an API key character by character. The vulnerability is patched in version 1.11.6. The likelihood of this attack actually working is highly dependent on the network's latency, noise and similar parameters. An actual proof of concept was not achieved so far. Still, as always administrators are advised to not expose their OctoPrint instance on hostile networks, especially not on the public Internet.
