In @neo4j/graphql versions from 7.0.0 up to but not including 7.6.4, the none quantifier in @authorization filters on relationships and connections is not negated when translated to Cypher, so it behaves like some. A rule such as "none of the related denied users matches the JWT subject" therefore returns exactly the records it was meant to exclude, and excludes those it was meant to return. An authenticated user whom such a rule is meant to deny can read the protected records. This is also the case for mutations, so the impact is that sensitive data could also be created and deleted by users that shouldn't have access according to the typedefs. Fixed in 7.6.4.

  • Oct 12, 2026In @neo4j/graphql versions up to and including 7.6.3, @authentication directives applied at the schema level or on the Query or Mutation types are silently ignoCVE-2026-92681 · Other software · Neo4j · reported by 3b236295-4ccd-4a1f-a1c1-a72eecc8d7b6Critical 9.3

In @neo4j/graphql versions up to and including 7.6.3, @authentication directives applied at the schema level or on the Query or Mutation types are silently ignored for top-level fields annotated with @cypher. Only @authentication directives placed directly on the individual fields are enforced. An application that exposes a top-level @cypher field and relies on schema-level or type-level @authentication to protect it allows unauthenticated callers to invoke the field and run the configured Cypher statement with the privileges of the GraphQL service account, which may permit reading and modifying data. Fixed in 7.6.4.

  • Aug 18, 2026@neo4j/graphql from 5.2.0 until the patched versions fails to enforce field-level @authentication rules on root custom-resolver fields when a type-level @authenCVE-2026-19869 · Other software · neo4j · reported by 3b236295-4ccd-4a1f-a1c1-a72eecc8d7b6High 7.6

@neo4j/graphql from 5.2.0 until the patched versions fails to enforce field-level @authentication rules on root custom-resolver fields when a type-level @authentication rule is also present on the same operation type. When both a type-level @authentication (on Query/Mutation) and a field-level @authentication (on a root custom-resolver field within that type) are declared, only the type-level rule is evaluated and the field-level rule is silently discarded. As a result a stricter per-field requirement — such as an admin-role JWT claim (jwt: { roles_INCLUDES: "admin" }) — is never checked, and any client that satisfies the coarser type-level requirement can invoke the more-restricted field. No token forgery is involved: a legitimately issued, correctly signed non-admin token (e.g. roles: ["user"]) is sufficient.

  • Aug 6, 2026@neo4j/graphql library versions prior to 7.5.6 fail to verify the authenticity of a client-supplied, pre-decoded JWT object passed through GraphQL subscription CVE-2026-5423 · Other software · neo4j · reported by 3b236295-4ccd-4a1f-a1c1-a72eecc8d7b6High 8.2

@neo4j/graphql library versions prior to 7.5.6 fail to verify the authenticity of a client-supplied, pre-decoded JWT object passed through GraphQL subscription connectionParams. As a result, any unauthenticated remote client that can open a GraphQL-over-WebSocket connection can forge arbitrary JWT claims (e.g. sub, roles) in connectionParams.jwt and have them accepted as authenticated identity for the purposes of @authentication and @subscriptionsAuthorization directive evaluation. This allows a fully unauthenticated attacker to receive subscription events that should be restricted to specific authenticated roles/users. Upgrade the library to versions 7.5.6+ or 5.12.14+. v6 is end-of-life and will not receive a fix.

  • Aug 5, 2026Neo4j's Bolt modern handshake decoder treats an overlong capability bit mask the same way it treats a truncated bit mask.CVE-2026-14587 · Other software · neo4j · reported by 3b236295-4ccd-4a1f-a1c1-a72eecc8d7b6Medium 5.5

Neo4j's Bolt modern handshake decoder treats an overlong capability bit mask the same way it treats a truncated bit mask. When an unauthenticated client sends a selected protocol version followed by 32 continuation bytes in the capability mask, the decoder resets the reader index and waits for more bytes instead of rejecting the protocol message and closing the channel. Because the same unread bytes remain at the front of the decoder buffer, appending a terminating byte later does not recover the connection. The decoder re-reads the same first 32 continuation bytes, returns without producing a handshake-finalization message, and leaves the channel open. This can be triggered before authentication by any client that can reach the Bolt connector.

  • Jul 6, 2026Improper Neutralization of Special Elements in Data Query Logic vulnerability in Apache Camel Neo4J component.CVE-2026-46591 · Websites & servers · Apache Software Foundation · reported by security@apache.orgHigh 8.2

Improper Neutralization of Special Elements in Data Query Logic vulnerability in Apache Camel Neo4J component. The camel-neo4j producer builds the Cypher WHERE clause for its match/retrieve and delete operations from the CamelNeo4jMatchProperties map. CVE-2025-66169 addressed Cypher injection through the property values by binding them as query parameters ($paramN), but the property names (the JSON keys of that map) were still concatenated into the query string verbatim in Neo4jProducer.retrieveNodes() and deleteNode(). A property name containing Cypher syntax therefore alters the structure of the executed query. Where a route maps untrusted input into the CamelNeo4jMatchProperties map - for example by passing a request body as the match map, or from a consumer that does not filter inbound Camel* headers - an attacker who controls the JSON key names can inject arbitrary Cypher and read, modify or delete any node or relationship in the Neo4j database. The CamelNeo4jMatchProperties header is itself Camel-prefixed and is filtered by the HTTP header-filter strategy, so a plain HTTP client cannot set it directly; the issue is reachable through routes that deliberately or inadvertently

  • Mar 11, 2026An edgecase in SSO implementation in Neo4j Enterprise edition versions prior to version 2026.02 can lead to unauthorised access under the following conditions: CVE-2026-1524 · Other software · neo4j · reported by 3b236295-4ccd-4a1f-a1c1-a72eecc8d7b6Low 2.1

An edgecase in SSO implementation in Neo4j Enterprise edition versions prior to version 2026.02 can lead to unauthorised access under the following conditions: If a neo4j admin configures two or more OIDC providers AND configures one or more of them to be an authorization provider AND configures one or more of them to be authentication-only, then those that are authentication-only will also provide authorization. This edgecase becomes a security problem only if the authentication-only provider contains groups which have higher privileges than provided by the intended (configured) authorization provider. When using multiple plugins for authentication and authorisation, prior to the fix the issue could lead to a plugin configured to provide only authentication or authorisation capabilities erroneously providing both capabilities.  We recommend upgrading to versions 2026.02 (or 5.26.22) where the issue is fixed.

  • Feb 4, 2026Neo4j Enterprise and Community editions versions prior to 2026.01.3 and 5.26.21 are vulnerable to a potential information disclosure by a user who has ability tCVE-2026-1622 · Other software · neo4j · reported by 3b236295-4ccd-4a1f-a1c1-a72eecc8d7b6Medium 4.8

Neo4j Enterprise and Community editions versions prior to 2026.01.3 and 5.26.21 are vulnerable to a potential information disclosure by a user who has ability to access the local log files. The "obfuscate_literals" option in the query logs does not redact error information, exposing unredacted data in the query log when a customer writes a query that fails. It can allow a user with legitimate access to the local log files to obtain information they are not authorised to see. If this user is also in a position to run queries and trigger errors, this vulnerability can potentially help them to infer information they are not authorised to see through their intended database access. We recommend upgrading to versions 2026.01.3 (or 5.26.21) where the issue is fixed, and reviewing query log files permissions to ensure restricted access. If your configuration had db.logs.query.obfuscate_literals enabled, and you wish the obfuscation to cover the error messages as well, you need to enable the new configuration setting db.logs.query.obfuscate_errors once you have upgraded Neo4j.

  • Feb 16, 2023APOC (Awesome Procedures on Cypher) is an add-on library for Neo4j.CVE-2023-23926 · Other software · neo4j · reported by GitHubMedium 5.9

APOC (Awesome Procedures on Cypher) is an add-on library for Neo4j. An XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability found in the apoc.import.graphml procedure of APOC core plugin prior to version 5.5.0 and 4.4.0.14 (4.4 branch) in Neo4j graph database. XML External Entity (XXE) injection occurs when the XML parser allows external entities to be resolved. The XML parser used by the apoc.import.graphml procedure was not configured in a secure way and therefore allowed this. External entities can be used to read local files, send HTTP requests, and perform denial-of-service attacks on the application. Abusing the XXE vulnerability enabled assessors to read local files remotely. Although with the level of privileges assessors had this was limited to one-line files. With the ability to write to the database, any file could have been read. Additionally, assessors noted, with local testing, the server could be crashed by passing in improperly formatted XML. The minimum version containing a patch for this vulnerability is 5.5.0. Those who cannot upgrade the library can control the allowlist of the procedures that can be used in your system.

APOC (Awesome Procedures on Cypher) is an add-on library for Neo4j that provides hundreds of procedures and functions. A path traversal vulnerability found in the apoc.export.* procedures of apoc plugins in Neo4j Graph database. The issue allows a malicious actor to potentially break out of the expected directory. The vulnerability is such that files could only be created but not overwritten. For the vulnerability to be exploited, an attacker would need access to execute an arbitrary query, either by having access to an authenticated Neo4j client, or a Cypher injection vulnerability in an application. The minimum versions containing patch for this vulnerability are 4.4.0.12 and 4.3.0.12 and 5.3.1. As a workaround, you can control the allowlist of the procedures that can be used in your system, and/or turn off local file access by setting apoc.export.file.enabled=false.

Exploit odds are FIRST’s EPSS, updated daily. Titles and categories are ours, so check the linked record before acting on a detail. For a write-up of the big ones, see our advisories. Every vendor, and every WordPress plugin and theme with a recorded flaw, also has its own page. All of it is free to reuse as JSON, CSV or RSS.
