Aug 15, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: memstick: ms_block: reject a card that reports too many blocks msb_ftl_initialize() computCVE-2026-68478 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: memstick: ms_block: reject a card that reports too many blocks msb_ftl_initialize() computes the zone count from the card block count with no bound: msb->zone_count = msb->block_count / MS_BLOCKS_IN_ZONE; ... for (i = 0; i < msb->zone_count; i++) msb->free_block_count[i] = MS_BLOCKS_IN_ZONE; msb->block_count is a card value. msb_read_boot_blocks() reads number_of_blocks from the card boot page and byte swaps it. free_block_count is a fixed int[MS_MAX_ZONES]. MS_MAX_ZONES is 16, so the valid indices are 0 to 15. The init loop above indexes it by zone_count. msb_mark_block_used() and msb_mark_block_unused() index it by pba / MS_BLOCKS_IN_ZONE, for pba up to block_count - 1. A card may report up to 65535 blocks. A block_count above 8192 (MS_MAX_ZONES * MS_BLOCKS_IN_ZONE) lets the pba index reach 16. That writes past free_block_count[] and corrupts struct msb_data. A larger count runs the init loop past the end too. A real Memory Stick has at most 16 zones. So it has at most 8192 blocks. msb_ftl_initialize() now rejects a card that reports more than MS_MAX_ZONES * MS_BLOCKS_IN_ZONE blocks.

Jul 25, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/swap: add cond_resched() in swap_reclaim_full_clusters to prevent softlockup We hit a rCVE-2026-64415 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Medium 5.5
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/swap: add cond_resched() in swap_reclaim_full_clusters to prevent softlockup We hit a real softlockup in an internal stress test environment. The workload was LTP memory/swap stress on a large arm64 machine, with 320 CPUs, about 1TB memory and an 8.6GB swap device. The system was under heavy load and the swap device had a large number of full clusters. The softlockup was triggered during a stress test after about 3 days. So, add periodic cond_resched() calls during large full_clusters reclaim operations to prevent softlockup issues. Detailed call trace as follow: PID: 3817773 TASK: ffff0883bb28b780 CPU: 48 COMMAND: "kworker/48:7" #0 [ffff800080183d10] __crash_kexec at ffffa4c1361e5de4 #1 [ffff800080183d90] panic at ffffa4c1360d5e9c #2 [ffff800080183e20] watchdog_timer_fn at ffffa4c136231fa8 ... #16 [ffff8000c4ad3cb0] swap_cache_del_folio at ffffa4c1363e1614 #17 [ffff8000c4ad3ce0] __try_to_reclaim_swap at ffffa4c1363e4bfc #18 [ffff8000c4ad3d40] swap_reclaim_full_clusters at ffffa4c1363e5474 #19 [ffff8000c4ad3da0] swap_reclaim_work at ffffa4c1363e550c #20 [ffff8000c4ad3dc0] proces

Jul 7, 2026The Dhara flash translation layer disk driver (drivers/disk/ftl_dhara.c) implemented the dhara_nand_ callbacks so that, on a flash error, the error code was wriCVE-2026-10659 · Other software · zephyrproject · reported by vulnerabilities@zephyrproject.orgMedium 4.7
The Dhara flash translation layer disk driver (drivers/disk/ftl_dhara.c) implemented the dhara_nand_ callbacks so that, on a flash error, the error code was written unconditionally through the caller-supplied dhara_error_t err pointer (e.g. *err = DHARA_E_ECC in dhara_nand_read, and similar in dhara_nand_erase/prog/copy). The upstream Dhara library calls these callbacks with err == NULL along its journal-resume binary search: find_last_checkblock() invokes find_checkblock(j, mid, &found, NULL), which forwards the NULL pointer into dhara_nand_read(). This path runs during disk_ftl_access_init() -> dhara_map_resume() whenever the FTL disk is mounted/initialised. If a flash read error (uncorrectable ECC, bad block, controller error) occurs on one of the probed checkpoint pages, the driver dereferences and writes to NULL, faulting the kernel (denial of service). The trigger is conditioned on the NAND medium content/health, which can be influenced by media wear, induced faults, or a corrupted/crafted on-flash image. The fix routes all error assignments through the library's NULL-safe dhara_set_error() helper. Affects Zephyr v4.4.0, where the driver was introduced.

May 5, 2026Pi-hole FTL is the core engine of the Pi-hole network-level advertisement and tracker blocker.CVE-2026-39849 · Other software · pi-hole · reported by GitHubHigh 8.7
Pi-hole FTL is the core engine of the Pi-hole network-level advertisement and tracker blocker. In versions before 6.6.1, the `dns.interface` configuration field in Pi-hole FTL accepted newline characters without validation, allowing an attacker to inject arbitrary directives into the generated dnsmasq configuration file. On installations with no admin password set (the default for many deployments), the configuration API is fully accessible without credentials, allowing a network-adjacent attacker to inject the payload, enable the built-in DHCP server, and achieve arbitrary command execution on the host the next time any device on the network requests a DHCP lease. The injected value is persisted to /etc/pihole/pihole.toml and survives restarts. The strncpy in the code path limits the total interface field to 31 bytes, but payloads such as wlan0\ndhcp-script=/tmp/p fit within this constraint. The dnsmasq config validation introduced in FTL 6.6 only checks syntactic validity, so valid directives injected via newline pass validation successfully. This issue has been fixed in version 6.6.1.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ftrace: Fix softlockup in ftrace_module_enable A soft lockup was observed when loading amdgpu module. If a module has a lot of tracable functions, multiple calls to kallsyms_lookup can spend too much time in RCU critical section and with disabled preemption, causing kernel panic. This is the same issue that was fixed in commit d0b24b4e91fc ("ftrace: Prevent RCU stall on PREEMPT_VOLUNTARY kernels") and commit 42ea22e754ba ("ftrace: Add cond_resched() to ftrace_graph_set_hash()"). Fix it the same way by adding cond_resched() in ftrace_module_enable.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: jbd2: prevent softlockup in jbd2_log_do_checkpoint() Both jbd2_log_do_checkpoint() and jbd2_journal_shrink_checkpoint_list() periodically release j_list_lock after processing a batch of buffers to avoid long hold times on the j_list_lock. However, since both functions contend for j_list_lock, the combined time spent waiting and processing can be significant. jbd2_journal_shrink_checkpoint_list() explicitly calls cond_resched() when need_resched() is true to avoid softlockups during prolonged operations. But jbd2_log_do_checkpoint() only exits its loop when need_resched() is true, relying on potentially sleeping functions like __flush_batch() or wait_on_buffer() to trigger rescheduling. If those functions do not sleep, the kernel may hit a softlockup. watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#3 stuck for 156s! In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/swapfile: add cond_resched() in get_swap_pages() The softlockup still occurs in get_swap_pages() under memory pressure. 64 CPU cores, 64GB memory, and 28 zram devices, the disksize of each zram device is 50MB with same priority as si. Use the stress-ng tool to increase memory pressure, causing the system to oom frequently. The plist_for_each_entry_safe() loops in get_swap_pages() could reach tens of thousands of times to find available space (extreme case: cond_resched() is not called in scan_swap_map_slots()). Let's add cond_resched() into get_swap_pages() when failed to find available space to avoid softlockup.

Mar 12, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Fix softlockup in arena_map_free on 64k page kernel On an aarch64 kernel with CONFIG_CVE-2025-21851 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.8
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Fix softlockup in arena_map_free on 64k page kernel On an aarch64 kernel with CONFIG_PAGE_SIZE_64KB=y, arena_htab tests cause a segmentation fault and soft lockup. The same failure is not observed with 4k pages on aarch64. It turns out arena_map_free() is calling apply_to_existing_page_range() with the address returned by bpf_arena_get_kern_vm_start(). If this address is not page-aligned the code ends up calling apply_to_pte_range() with that unaligned address causing soft lockup. Fix it by round up GUARD_SZ to PAGE_SIZE << 1 so that the division by 2 in bpf_arena_get_kern_vm_start() returns a page-aligned value.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fs/proc: fix softlockup in __read_vmcore (part 2) Since commit 5cbcb62dddf5 ("fs/proc: fix softlockup in __read_vmcore") the number of softlockups in __read_vmcore at kdump time have gone down, but they still happen sometimes. In a memory constrained environment like the kdump image, a softlockup is not just a harmless message, but it can interfere with things like RCU freeing memory, causing the crashdump to get stuck. The second loop in __read_vmcore has a lot more opportunities for natural sleep points, like scheduling out while waiting for a data write to happen, but apparently that is not always enough. Add a cond_resched() to the second loop in __read_vmcore to (hopefully) get rid of the softlockups.

Where this comes from: the exploited list is CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Everything else is the whole National Vulnerability Database, where each record is published by the team that found the bug (Wordfence, Patchstack, WPScan, the vendors themselves and others); we show who. Exploit odds are FIRST’s EPSS, updated daily. Titles and categories are ours, so check the linked record before acting on a detail. For a write-up of the big ones, see our advisories. Every vendor, and every WordPress plugin and theme with a recorded flaw, also has its own page. All of it is free to reuse as JSON, CSV or RSS.
