Sep 25, 2026OpenClaw (npm package 'openclaw') before 2026.8.1 does not correctly enforce per-chat tool policies for Codex app-server runtime tools.CVE-2026-100552 · Other software · OpenClaw · reported by VulnCheckHigh 8.7
OpenClaw (npm package 'openclaw') before 2026.8.1 does not correctly enforce per-chat tool policies for Codex app-server runtime tools. A conversation-level tools.allow rule filtered OpenClaw tools but did not restrict the shell, process, file, and patch tools owned by the Codex runtime. When a lower-trust conversation was assigned to a Codex runtime and restricted with a per-chat tool allowlist, a participant able to trigger that agent could still reach native command and file tools, bypassing the configured allowlist. The practical impact depends on the runtime's host permissions and sandbox configuration. The issue is fixed in 2026.8.1.

Sep 1, 2026OpenAI Codex Desktop for Windows and macOS automatically inspected Git metadata and working-tree status when a user opened a workspace.CVE-2026-19593 · Other software · OpenAI · reported by 8f4f43ab-ba69-4d92-aa1d-d772184d6fb7Critical 9.8
OpenAI Codex Desktop for Windows and macOS automatically inspected Git metadata and working-tree status when a user opened a workspace. If the workspace contains a repository with preserved attacker-controlled .git/config, the attr.tree setting and a configured clean or process filter can cause Git to run an attacker-controlled program. The program runs outside Codex's command sandbox with the signed-in user's privileges, without a workspace-trust prompt, command approval, or interaction with a model. The attacker can read, modify, or delete files and access credentials available to that user. Exploitation requires Git to be available on PATH and the user to open the attacker-prepared repository with its local Git configuration intact. An ordinary Git clone does not copy the source repository's .git/config and is not sufficient by itself.

OpenAI Codex CLI for Windows, macOS, and Linux and Codex Desktop for Windows and macOS automatically collected Git repository metadata without disabling the repository-local core.fsmonitor setting. If a user opens or uses an attacker-prepared repository whose preserved .git/config sets core.fsmonitor to an attacker-controlled filesystem-monitor helper, Git can execute that helper while Codex collects repository metadata. The helper runs outside Codex's command sandbox and without a user-approval prompt, allowing attacker-controlled code to run with the user's privileges. The code can read, change, or delete the user's files and access other resources available to the user's account. An ordinary Git clone does not preserve the source repository's local .git/config; exploitation requires a repository delivered or copied with that configuration intact.

OpenAI Codex CLI for Windows, macOS, and Linux and Codex Desktop for Windows and macOS misclassified certain PowerShell commands as safe because their command-safety parser interpreted PowerShell's stop-parsing token (--%) differently than PowerShell itself. If a user opens an attacker-prepared repository and Codex follows its instructions, Codex can run a file-writing Git command without requesting user approval. On macOS and Linux, exploitation additionally requires separately installed PowerShell Core (pwsh) to be invoked. If filesystem protections permit the write, the command can modify Codex's configuration. If Codex later loads the modified configuration, it can launch an attacker-controlled MCP server and execute code with the user's privileges, allowing it to read, change, or delete files accessible to that account. The approval bypass does not disable filesystem sandboxing; the default filesystem sandbox on macOS and Linux can prevent writes outside permitted locations.

Sep 1, 2026OpenAI Codex Desktop for Windows and macOS could execute attacker-controlled Git hooks because automated Git operations trusted the repository's local core.hookCVE-2026-19590 · Other software · OpenAI · reported by 8f4f43ab-ba69-4d92-aa1d-d772184d6fb7High 7.3
OpenAI Codex Desktop for Windows and macOS could execute attacker-controlled Git hooks because automated Git operations trusted the repository's local core.hooksPath setting. If a user opens an attacker-prepared repository whose preserved .git/config points core.hooksPath to an attacker-controlled directory, Codex can run a malicious hook while processing the repository. The hook executes outside Codex's command sandbox, without user approval, and with the user's privileges, allowing it to read, change, or delete the user's files and access other resources available to the user's account. An ordinary Git clone does not preserve the attacker-controlled repository-local configuration required for exploitation.

Jul 26, 2026NoteGen before 0.32.0 grants the Tauri shell plugin shell:allow-execute capability for bash, python, and python3 with arbitrary arguments in the default desktopCVE-2026-17497 · Other software · codexu · reported by reefs@jfrog.comHigh 8.3
NoteGen before 0.32.0 grants the Tauri shell plugin shell:allow-execute capability for bash, python, and python3 with arbitrary arguments in the default desktop capabilities. JavaScript running in the application webview can therefore invoke plugin:shell|execute to run attacker-controlled operating system commands with the privileges of the NoteGen process. In combination with script execution in the webview (for example via chat XSS), this enables full remote code execution on the user's machine.

Jul 26, 2026NoteGen before 0.32.0 renders AI chat responses with markdown-it configured with html:true and injects the result into the DOM via dangerouslySetInnerHTML in chCVE-2026-17496 · Other software · codexu · reported by reefs@jfrog.comHigh 8.1
NoteGen before 0.32.0 renders AI chat responses with markdown-it configured with html:true and injects the result into the DOM via dangerouslySetInnerHTML in chat-preview, without HTML sanitization and with CSP set to null. Attacker-controlled content that reaches the model prompt (for example a malicious skill REFERENCE.md that instructs the model to emit HTML) can cause the model response to include executable markup such as an img onerror handler. When the user views the chat response, that markup runs as JavaScript in the privileged Tauri webview, enabling arbitrary script execution in the application context (cross-site scripting).

Jul 20, 2026The `@ai-sdk/harness-opencode` tool is an HarnessV1 adapter backed by @openai/codex-sdk, which drives the codex command line interface.CVE-2026-64650 · Other software · vercel · reported by GitHubMedium 6.3
The `@ai-sdk/harness-opencode` tool is an HarnessV1 adapter backed by @openai/codex-sdk, which drives the codex command line interface. Prior to version 1.0.29, the tool relay authorizes requests from any process whose command line contains an allowed helper script path (the Codex CLI shim). This allows untrusted code executing in the sandbox to invoke arbitrary host-exposed tools, including secret lookups, deployment operations, and cloud API calls without a corresponding model-authorized tool-call event. Exploitation requires a Linux environment (the vulnerable fallback checks `process.platform === 'linux'` and reads `/proc`); an active harness session with one or more host-provided tools; and untrusted code executing in the sandbox (e.g. a malicious dependency, build script, or lifecycle hook) The fix in version 1.0.29 removes the process-path authorization fallback entirely. Relay requests are now only accepted after exact, short-lived, one-time authorization matching the tool name and input from a bridge-observed model event. Some workarounds are available. Do not run the Codex harness on untrusted repositories or with untrusted dependencies, and/or limit host-exposed tools t

Jul 6, 2026The OpenAI Codex desktop app for macOS rendered remote images from Markdown in model responses.CVE-2026-14898 · Other software · OpenAI · reported by 8f4f43ab-ba69-4d92-aa1d-d772184d6fb7Medium 6.5
The OpenAI Codex desktop app for macOS rendered remote images from Markdown in model responses. An attacker who could place an indirect prompt injection in content processed by Codex, such as a connected-tool result or another untrusted source, could induce the model to construct a remote image URL containing sensitive data. The app automatically fetched that URL when rendering the response, sending the embedded data to an attacker-controlled server without a separate user click. Successful exploitation could exfiltrate secrets and other information accessible in the Codex session, including API keys, source code, and data returned by connected tools. No direct integrity or availability impact was demonstrated, and there is no known exploitation in the wild.

Sep 22, 2025Codex CLI is a coding agent from OpenAI that runs locally.CVE-2025-59532 · Other software · openai · reported by GitHubHigh 8.6
Codex CLI is a coding agent from OpenAI that runs locally. In versions 0.2.0 to 0.38.0, due to a bug in the sandbox configuration logic, Codex CLI could treat a model-generated cwd as the sandbox’s writable root, including paths outside of the folder where the user started their session. This logic bypassed the intended workspace boundary and enables arbitrary file writes and command execution where the Codex process has permissions - this did not impact the network-disabled sandbox restriction. This issue has been patched in Codex CLI 0.39.0 that canonicalizes and validates that the boundary used for sandbox policy is based on where the user started the session, and not the one generated by the model. Users running 0.38.0 or earlier should update immediately via their package manager or by reinstalling the latest Codex CLI to ensure sandbox boundaries are enforced. If using the Codex IDE extension, users should immediately update to 0.4.12 for a fix of the sandbox issue.

Where this comes from: the exploited list is CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Everything else is the whole National Vulnerability Database, where each record is published by the team that found the bug (Wordfence, Patchstack, WPScan, the vendors themselves and others); we show who. Exploit odds are FIRST’s EPSS, updated daily. Titles and categories are ours, so check the linked record before acting on a detail. For a write-up of the big ones, see our advisories. Every vendor, and every WordPress plugin and theme with a recorded flaw, also has its own page. All of it is free to reuse as JSON, CSV or RSS.
