  • Aug 20, 2026BigBlueButton is an open-source virtual classroom.CVE-2026-55491 · Other software · bigbluebutton · reported by GitHubMedium 5.4

BigBlueButton is an open-source virtual classroom. Prior to 3.0.29, BigBlueButton failed to escape meetingName in record-and-playback/screenshare/playback/index.html.erb when generating the screenshare playback format. A low-privileged user could store a crafted meeting name that embedded script content, and the script executed in another user's browser when that user replayed the recording. This issue is fixed in version 3.0.29.

  • Aug 20, 2026BigBlueButton is an open-source virtual classroom.CVE-2026-55489 · Other software · bigbluebutton · reported by GitHubMedium 4.9

BigBlueButton is an open-source virtual classroom. Prior to 3.0.29, BigBlueButton presenters could submit a presentationId through /api/graphql that identified a presentation belonging to another meeting. akka-bbb-apps/src/main/scala/org/bigbluebutton/core/apps/presentationpod/RemovePresentationPubMsgHdlr.scala did not verify the presentation's meeting identifier before deletion, allowing a presenter who knew the identifier to delete another meeting's presentation and disrupt its availability. This issue is fixed in version 3.0.29.

  • Aug 20, 2026BigBlueButton is an open-source virtual classroom.CVE-2026-46682 · Other software · bigbluebutton · reported by GitHubHigh 8.5

BigBlueButton is an open-source virtual classroom. Prior to 3.0.23, BigBlueButton allowed authenticated moderators to inject SQL through the meetingId and userId values used by refreshBreakoutRoomsVisibleForUsers in akka-bbb-apps/src/main/scala/org/bigbluebutton/core/db/BreakoutRoomUserDAO.scala. The method interpolated those values into breakout room visibility queries, allowing arbitrary SQL execution against the application database. This issue is fixed in version 3.0.23.

BigBlueButton is an open-source virtual classroom. Prior to 3.0.23, BigBlueButton exposed /bigbluebutton/api/handleJoinExistingUser through bigbluebutton-web/grails-app/controllers/org/bigbluebutton/web/controllers/ApiController.groovy. A requester able to supply an existingUserID for an active participant could reuse that participant's session and impersonate the participant in the same meeting because handleJoinExistingUser was a routable controller action rather than a private helper. • Aug 6, 2026PILOS (Platform for Interactive Live-Online Seminars) is a frontend for BigBlueButton.CVE-2026-71555 · Other software · THM-Health · reported by GitHubMedium 4.1

PILOS (Platform for Interactive Live-Online Seminars) is a frontend for BigBlueButton. From 2.1.0 until 4.14.1, PILOS does not send a Cross-Origin-Opener-Policy response header, so pages opened by PILOS via a link that opens a new browsing context (e.g., target="_blank") retain a window.opener reference back to the originating PILOS tab. A malicious destination page reached this way can use window.opener to navigate or manipulate the original PILOS tab, a technique known as reverse tabnabbing, potentially redirecting an authenticated user to a phishing page that mimics PILOS. This issue is fixed in version 4.14.1.

BigBlueButton is an open-source virtual classroom. In versions 3.0.19 and below, when first joining a session with the microphone muted, the client sends audio to the server regardless of mute state. Media is discarded at the server side, so it isn't audible to any participants, but this may allow for malicious server operators to access audio data. The behavior is only incorrect between joining the meeting and the first time the user unmutes. This issue has been fixed in version 3.0.20.

  • Feb 21, 2026BigBlueButton is an open-source virtual classroom.CVE-2026-27466 · Other software · bigbluebutton · reported by GitHubHigh 7.2

BigBlueButton is an open-source virtual classroom. In versions 3.0.21 and below, the official documentation for "Server Customization" on Support for ClamAV as presentation file scanner contains instructions that leave a BBB server vulnerable for Denial of Service. The flawed command exposes both ports (3310 and 7357) to the internet. A remote attacker can use this to send complex or large documents to clamd and waste server resources, or shutdown the clamd process. The clamd documentation explicitly warns about exposing this port. Enabling ufw (ubuntu firewall) during install does not help, because Docker routes container traffic through the nat table, which is not managed or restricted by ufw. Rules installed by ufw in the filter table have no effect on docker traffic. In addition, the provided example also mounts /var/bigbluebutton with write permissions into the container, which should not be required. Future vulnerabilities in clamd may allow attackers to manipulate files in that folder. Users are unaffected unless they have opted in to follow the extra instructions from BigBlueButton's documentation. This issue has been fixed in version 3.0.22.

  • Jan 12, 2026PILOS (Platform for Interactive Live-Online Seminars) is a frontend for BigBlueButton.CVE-2026-22800 · Other software · THM-Health · reported by GitHubLow 2.4

PILOS (Platform for Interactive Live-Online Seminars) is a frontend for BigBlueButton. Prior to 4.10.0, Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) vulnerability exists in an administrative API endpoint responsible for terminating all active video conferences on a single server. The affected endpoint performs a destructive action but is exposed via an HTTP GET request. Although proper authorization checks are enforced and the endpoint cannot be triggered cross-site, the use of GET allows the action to be implicitly invoked through same-site content (e.g. embedded resources rendered within the application). As a result, an authenticated administrator who views crafted content within the application may unknowingly trigger the endpoint, causing all active video conferences on the server to be terminated without explicit intent or confirmation. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.10.0.

  • Oct 27, 2025PILOS (Platform for Interactive Live-Online Seminars) is a frontend for BigBlueButton.CVE-2025-62781 · Other software · THM-Health · reported by GitHubMedium 5

PILOS (Platform for Interactive Live-Online Seminars) is a frontend for BigBlueButton. Prior to 4.8.0, users with a local account can change their password while logged in. When doing so, all other active sessions are terminated, except for the currently active one. However, the current session’s token remains valid and is not refreshed. If an attacker has previously obtained this session token through another vulnerability, changing the password will not invalidate their access. As a result, the attacker can continue to act as the user even after the password has been changed. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.8.0.

PILOS (Platform for Interactive Live-Online Seminars) is a frontend for BigBlueButton. PILOS before 4.8.0 exposes the PHP version via the X-Powered-By header, enabling attackers to fingerprint the server and assess potential exploits. This information disclosure vulnerability originates from PHP’s base image. • Oct 27, 2025PILOS (Platform for Interactive Live-Online Seminars) is a frontend for BigBlueButton.CVE-2025-62523 · Other software · THM-Health · reported by GitHubMedium 6.3

PILOS (Platform for Interactive Live-Online Seminars) is a frontend for BigBlueButton. PILOS before 4.8.0 includes a Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) misconfiguration in its middleware: it reflects the Origin request header back in the Access-Control-Allow-Origin response header without proper validation or a whitelist, while Access-Control-Allow-Credentials is set to true. This behavior could allow a malicious website on a different origin to send requests (including credentials) to the PILOS API. This may enable exfiltration or actions using the victim’s credentials if the server accepts those cross-origin requests as authenticated. Laravel’s session handling applies additional origin checks such that cross-origin requests are not authenticated by default. Because of these session-origin protections, and in the absence of any other unknown vulnerabilities that would bypass Laravel’s origin/session checks, this reflected-Origin CORS misconfiguration is not believed to be exploitable in typical PILOS deployments. This vulnerability has been patched in PILOS in v4.8.0

BigBlueButton is an open source virtual classroom designed to help teachers teach and learners learn. In affected versions are affected by a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability. In an `insertDocument` API request the user is able to supply a URL from which the presentation should be downloaded. This URL was being used without having been successfully validated first. An update to the `followRedirect` method in the `PresentationUrlDownloadService` has been made to validate all URLs to be used for presentation download. Two new properties `presentationDownloadSupportedProtocols` and `presentationDownloadBlockedHosts` have also been added to `bigbluebutton.properties` to allow administrators to define what protocols a URL must use and to explicitly define hosts that a presentation cannot be downloaded from. All URLs passed to `insertDocument` must conform to the requirements of the two previously mentioned properties. Additionally, these URLs must resolve to valid addresses, and these addresses must not be local or loopback addresses. There are no workarounds. Users are advised to upgrade to a patched version of BigBlueButton.

  • Dec 16, 2022BigBlueButton is an open source web conferencing system.CVE-2022-41961 · Other software · bigbluebutton · reported by GitHubMedium 4.3

BigBlueButton is an open source web conferencing system. Versions prior to 2.4-rc-6 are subject to Ineffective user bans. The attacker could register multiple users, and join the meeting with one of them. When that user is banned, they could still join the meeting with the remaining registered users from the same extId. This issue has been fixed by improving permissions such that banning a user removes all users related to their extId, including registered users that have not joined the meeting. This issue is patched in versions 2.4-rc-6 and 2.5-alpha-1. There are no workarounds.

BigBlueButton is an open source web conferencing system. Versions prior to 2.4.3, are subject to Insufficient Verification of Data Authenticity, resulting in Denial of Service. An attacker can make a Meteor call to `validateAuthToken` using a victim's userId, meetingId, and an invalid authToken. This forces the victim to leave the conference, because the resulting verification failure is also observed and handled by the victim's client. The attacker must be a participant in any meeting on the server. This issue is patched in version 2.4.3. There are no workarounds.
