Aug 18, 2026Trix is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get rich text editor for everyday writing.CVE-2026-73426 · Other software · basecamp · reported by GitHubMedium 4.6
Trix is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get rich text editor for everyday writing. Prior to 2.1.17, Trix is vulnerable to cross-site scripting when a data-trix-serialized-attributes attribute bypasses the DOMPurify sanitizer. An attacker can craft HTML containing a data-trix-serialized-attributes attribute with a malicious payload that, when rendered, executes arbitrary JavaScript in the user's session and may perform unauthorized actions or disclose sensitive information. This issue is fixed in version 2.1.17.

Aug 13, 2026Trix is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get rich text editor for everyday writing.CVE-2026-73428 · Other software · basecamp · reported by GitHubMedium 4.6
Trix is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get rich text editor for everyday writing. Prior to 2.1.18, Trix is vulnerable to stored cross-site scripting when crafted HTML is pasted into the editor. HTMLParser processes a mock attachment in a `<span>` with an empty `data-trix-attachment="{}"` value, causing data-trix-attributes to be applied to a plain string piece. StringPiece.fromJSON accepts an unvalidated href, allowing a javascript: URI to enter the document model and serialized HTML and execute when another user renders and clicks the content. Applications that apply server-side HTML sanitization can neutralize the payload on save. This issue is fixed in version 2.1.18.

Aug 13, 2026basecamp/upright at commit efe4f2e5254ac6e57e45d2261804cca74dbbca3f disables Rails CSRF protection for its Alertmanager and Prometheus proxy controllers.CVE-2026-67990 · Other software · reported by MITREMedium 5.4
basecamp/upright at commit efe4f2e5254ac6e57e45d2261804cca74dbbca3f disables Rails CSRF protection for its Alertmanager and Prometheus proxy controllers. An unauthenticated attacker can induce a logged-in user's browser to submit requests that are forwarded to enabled upstream write or management endpoints, such as creating an Alertmanager silence or requesting a Prometheus reload. The final impact depends on the APIs enabled by the upstream services.

Aug 12, 2026Trix is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get rich text editor for everyday writing.CVE-2026-73427 · Other software · basecamp · reported by GitHubLow 2.1
Trix is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get rich text editor for everyday writing. Prior to 2.1.18, Trix is vulnerable to cross-site scripting when a crafted application/x-trix-document JSON payload is dropped into an editor using the fallback Level0InputController, such as an embedded WebView without Input Events Level 2 support. The StringPiece.fromJSON method trusts href attributes from the JSON payload without sanitization, allowing a draggable element containing a javascript: URI to bypass DOMPurify sanitization and inject executable JavaScript into the DOM. Exploitation requires the victim to drag and drop attacker-controlled content, and server-side HTML sanitization can neutralize the payload on save. This issue is fixed in version 2.1.18.

Aug 29, 2025Basecamp's Google Sign-In adds Google sign-in to Rails applications.CVE-2025-58067 · Other software · basecamp · reported by GitHubMedium 4.2
Basecamp's Google Sign-In adds Google sign-in to Rails applications. Prior to version 1.3.1, it is possible to redirect a user to another origin if the "proceed_to" value in the session store is set to a protocol-relative URL. Normally the value of this URL is only written and read by the library or the calling application. However, it may be possible to set this session value from a malicious site with a form submission. Any Rails applications using the google_sign_in gem may be vulnerable, if this vector can be chained with another attack that is able to modify the OAuth2 request parameters. This issue has been patched in version 1.3.1. There are no workarounds.

Aug 27, 2025Basecamp's Google Sign-In adds Google sign-in to Rails applications.CVE-2025-57821 · Other software · basecamp · reported by GitHubMedium 4.2
Basecamp's Google Sign-In adds Google sign-in to Rails applications. Prior to version 1.3.0, it is possible to craft a malformed URL that passes the "same origin" check, resulting in the user being redirected to another origin. Rails applications configured to store the flash information in a session cookie may be vulnerable, if this can be chained with an attack that allows injection of arbitrary data into the session cookie. This issue has been patched in version 1.3.0. If upgrading is not possible at this time, a way to mitigate the chained attack can be done by explicitly setting SameSite=Lax or SameSite=Strict on the application session cookie.

Jan 3, 2025Trix is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get rich text editor for everyday writing.CVE-2025-21610 · Other software · basecamp · reported by GitHubMedium 5.3
Trix is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get rich text editor for everyday writing. Versions prior to 2.1.12 are vulnerable to cross-site scripting when pasting malicious code in the link field. An attacker could trick the user to copy&paste a malicious `javascript:` URL as a link that would execute arbitrary JavaScript code within the context of the user's session, potentially leading to unauthorized actions being performed or sensitive information being disclosed. Users should upgrade to Trix editor version 2.1.12 or later to receive a patch. In addition to upgrading, affected users can disallow browsers that don't support a Content Security Policy (CSP) as a workaround for this and other cross-site scripting vulnerabilities. Set CSP policies such as script-src 'self' to ensure that only scripts hosted on the same origin are executed, and explicitly prohibit inline scripts using script-src-elem.

Aug 14, 2024The Trix editor, versions prior to 2.1.4, is vulnerable to XSS when pasting malicious code.CVE-2024-43368 · Other software · basecamp · reported by GitHubMedium 6.5
The Trix editor, versions prior to 2.1.4, is vulnerable to XSS when pasting malicious code. This vulnerability is a bypass of the fix put in place for GHSA-qjqp-xr96-cj99. In pull request 1149, sanitation was added for Trix attachments with a `text/html` content type. However, Trix only checks the content type on the paste event's `dataTransfer` object. As long as the `dataTransfer` has a content type of `text/html`, Trix parses its contents and creates an `Attachment` with them, even if the attachment itself doesn't have a `text/html` content type. Trix then uses the attachment content to set the attachment element's `innerHTML`. An attacker could trick a user to copy and paste malicious code that would execute arbitrary JavaScript code within the context of the user's session, potentially leading to unauthorized actions being performed or sensitive information being disclosed. This vulnerability was fixed in version 2.1.4.

May 7, 2024Trix is a rich text editor.CVE-2024-34341 · Other software · basecamp · reported by GitHubMedium 5.4
Trix is a rich text editor. The Trix editor, versions prior to 2.1.1, is vulnerable to arbitrary code execution when copying and pasting content from the web or other documents with markup into the editor. The vulnerability stems from improper sanitization of pasted content, allowing an attacker to embed malicious scripts which are executed within the context of the application. Users should upgrade to Trix editor version 2.1.1 or later, which incorporates proper sanitization of input from copied content.
