  • Oct 20, 2026Pass-through of unvalidated KMS URLs to KMS clients in Apache C++ Parquet and PyArrow versions 4.0.0 to 25.0.1.CVE-2026-92287 · Websites & servers · Apache Software Foundation · reported by security@apache.orgHigh 8.1

Pass-through of unvalidated KMS URLs to KMS clients in Apache C++ Parquet and PyArrow versions 4.0.0 to 25.0.1. This affects users who read Parquet files and configure Parquet decryption properties with a KmsClient implementation. On the reader side, the KMS URL can be application-controlled (specified in the KmsConnectionConfig) or file-controlled. If the user does not leverage application control for this parameter, a file-controlled KMS URL is forwarded to a pluggable KmsClient implementation. If the KMS implementation does not perform host validation and makes use of the provided KMS URL, a KMS token can be sent to a malicious host set by an attacker in the file.  Users are recommended to upgrade to version 26.0.0, which disables this behavior by default and requires that users opt-in to it by enabling the read_kms_url flag in the DecryptionConfiguration. Users of affected versions are recommended to either specify the KMS URL in the KmsConnectionConfig when reading files, or ensure any KmsClient implementations validate received KMS URLs. Users that opt-in to file-controlled KMS URLs in version 26.0.0 and later must ensure KmsClients validate KMS URLs.

  • Sep 9, 2026Potential problem for users of the org.apache.parquet.crypto.keytools package in Apache Parquet, versions 1.12 to 1.18.CVE-2026-73334 · Websites & servers · Apache Software Foundation · reported by security@apache.orgHigh 8.1

Potential problem for users of the org.apache.parquet.crypto.keytools package in Apache Parquet, versions 1.12 to 1.18. This package enables users to encrypt Parquet files via an envelope encryption mechanism that wraps (encrypts) data keys via a Key Management Service (KMS).  On the reader side, the KMS URL can be application-controlled or file-controlled. If the user does not leverage application control for this parameter, a file-controlled KMS URL is forwarded to a pluggable KmsClient implementation. If the pluggable implementation does not perform host validation, a KMS token can be sent to a malicious host set by an attacker in the file. Before the problem is fixed, users are recommended to leverage application control for KMS URL parameter in readers (versions 1.12-1.18). After the problem is fixed (presumably in version 1.19), the upgrade will disable file-controlled KMS URL by default. Users of the KMS URL parameter  will have two options then: leverage application control for KMS URL parameter in readers, or enable file-controlled KMS URL (via a new app parameter). The latter option will explicitly require (in the new parameter documentation) to validate the KMS URL an

CosyVoice thru commit 6e01309e01bc93bbeb83bdd996b1182a81aaf11e (2025-30-21) contains an insecure deserialization vulnerability (CWE-502) in its make_parquet_list.py data processing tool. The script loads PyTorch .pt files (utterance embeddings, speaker embeddings, speech tokens) using torch.load() without enabling the weights_only=True security parameter. This allows the deserialization of arbitrary Python objects via the pickle module. An attacker can exploit this by providing malicious .pt files within a data directory. When a victim processes this directory using the tool, arbitrary code is executed on the victim's system.

  • May 7, 2026ParquetSharp is a .NET library for reading and writing Apache Parquet files.CVE-2026-42241 · Other software · G-Research · reported by GitHubMedium 5.3

ParquetSharp is a .NET library for reading and writing Apache Parquet files. From version 18.1.0 to before version 23.0.0.1, DecimalConverter.ReadDecimal makes a stackalloc using what might be an attacker-supplied value. If an attacker declares a decimal column with some unreasonable width, this could lead to a stack overflow. In a service environment, this would potentially take down a service. Schema parsing in the parquet-avro module of Apache Parquet 1.15.0 and previous versions allows bad actors to execute arbitrary code. While 1.15.1 introduced a fix to restrict untrusted packages, the default setting of trusted packages still allows malicious classes from these packages to be executed. The exploit is only applicable if the client code of parquet-avro uses the "specific" or the "reflect" models deliberately for reading Parquet files. ("generic" model is not impacted) Users are recommended to upgrade to 1.15.2 or set the system property "org.apache.parquet.avro.SERIALIZABLE_PACKAGES" to an empty string on 1.15.1. • Nov 28, 2024Deserialization of untrusted data in IPC and Parquet readers in the Apache Arrow R package versions 4.0.0 through 16.1.0 allows arbitrary code execution.CVE-2024-52338 · Websites & servers · Apache Software Foundation · reported by security@apache.orgCritical 9.8

Deserialization of untrusted data in IPC and Parquet readers in the Apache Arrow R package versions 4.0.0 through 16.1.0 allows arbitrary code execution. An application is vulnerable if it reads Arrow IPC, Feather or Parquet data from untrusted sources (for example, user-supplied input files). This vulnerability only affects the arrow R package, not other Apache Arrow implementations or bindings unless those bindings are specifically used via the R package (for example, an R application that embeds a Python interpreter and uses PyArrow to read files from untrusted sources is still vulnerable if the arrow R package is an affected version). It is recommended that users of the arrow R package upgrade to 17.0.0 or later. Similarly, it is recommended that downstream libraries upgrade their dependency requirements to arrow 17.0.0 or later. If using an affected version of the package, untrusted data can read into a Table and its internal to_data_frame() method can be used as a workaround (e.g., read_parquet(..., as_data_frame = FALSE)$to_data_frame()). This issue affects the Apache Arrow R package: from 4.0.0 through 16.1.0. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 17.0.0, whi

  • Nov 9, 2023Deserialization of untrusted data in IPC and Parquet readers in PyArrow versions 0.14.0 to 14.0.0 allows arbitrary code execution.CVE-2023-47248 · Websites & servers · Apache Software Foundation · reported by security@apache.orgCritical 9.8

Deserialization of untrusted data in IPC and Parquet readers in PyArrow versions 0.14.0 to 14.0.0 allows arbitrary code execution. An application is vulnerable if it reads Arrow IPC, Feather or Parquet data from untrusted sources (for example user-supplied input files). This vulnerability only affects PyArrow, not other Apache Arrow implementations or bindings. It is recommended that users of PyArrow upgrade to 14.0.1. Similarly, it is recommended that downstream libraries upgrade their dependency requirements to PyArrow 14.0.1 or later. PyPI packages are already available, and we hope that conda-forge packages will be available soon. If it is not possible to upgrade, we provide a separate package `pyarrow-hotfix` that disables the vulnerability on older PyArrow versions. See https://pypi.org/project/pyarrow-hotfix/ for instructions.
