May 29, 2025MikroTik RouterOS 6.40.5, the SMB service contains a memory corruption vulnerability.CVE-2024-54952 · Network & remote access · Mikrotik · reported by MITREHigh 7.5
MikroTik RouterOS 6.40.5, the SMB service contains a memory corruption vulnerability. Remote, unauthenticated attackers can exploit this issue by sending specially crafted packets, triggering a null pointer dereference. This leads to a Remote Denial of Service (DoS), rendering the SMB service unavailable.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: fix memory leak in parse_lease_state() The previous patch that added bounds check for create lease context introduced a memory leak. When the bounds check fails, the function returns NULL without freeing the previously allocated lease_ctx_info structure. This patch fixes the issue by adding kfree(lreq) before returning NULL in both boundary check cases.

May 20, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: Avoid race in open_cached_dir with lease breaks A pre-existing valid cfid retCVE-2025-37954 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.5
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: Avoid race in open_cached_dir with lease breaks A pre-existing valid cfid returned from find_or_create_cached_dir might race with a lease break, meaning open_cached_dir doesn't consider it valid, and thinks it's newly-constructed. This leaks a dentry reference if the allocation occurs before the queued lease break work runs. Avoid the race by extending holding the cfid_list_lock across find_or_create_cached_dir and when the result is checked.

May 20, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: Fix UAF in __close_file_table_ids A use-after-free is possible if one thread destroCVE-2025-37952 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 8.8
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: Fix UAF in __close_file_table_ids A use-after-free is possible if one thread destroys the file via __ksmbd_close_fd while another thread holds a reference to it. The existing checks on fp->refcount are not sufficient to prevent this. The fix takes ft->lock around the section which removes the file from the file table. This prevents two threads acquiring the same file pointer via __close_file_table_ids, as well as the other functions which retrieve a file from the IDR and which already use this same lock.

May 20, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: prevent out-of-bounds stream writes by validating *pos ksmbd_vfs_stream_write() didCVE-2025-37947 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 8.8
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: prevent out-of-bounds stream writes by validating *pos ksmbd_vfs_stream_write() did not validate whether the write offset (*pos) was within the bounds of the existing stream data length (v_len). If *pos was greater than or equal to v_len, this could lead to an out-of-bounds memory write. This patch adds a check to ensure *pos is less than v_len before proceeding. If the condition fails, -EINVAL is returned.

Commit e9f2517a3e18 ("smb: client: fix TCP timers deadlock after rmmod") is intended to fix a null-ptr-deref in LOCKDEP, which is mentioned as CVE-2024-54680, but is actually did not fix anything; The issue can be reproduced on top of it. [0] Also, it reverted the change by commit ef7134c7fc48 ("smb: client: Fix use-after-free of network namespace.") and introduced a real issue by reviving the kernel TCP socket. When a reconnect happens for a CIFS connection, the socket state transitions to FIN_WAIT_1. Then, inet_csk_clear_xmit_timers_sync() in tcp_close() stops all timers for the socket. If an incoming FIN packet is lost, the socket will stay at FIN_WAIT_1 forever, and such sockets could be leaked up to net.ipv4.tcp_max_orphans. Usually, FIN can be retransmitted by the peer, but if the peer aborts the connection, the issue comes into reality. I warned about this privately by pointing out the exact report [1], but the bogus fix was finally merged. So, we should not stop the timers to fin

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: fix reference count leak in smb_check_perm_dacl() The issue happens in a specific path in smb_check_perm_dacl(). When "id" and "uid" have the same value, the function simply jumps out of the loop without decrementing the reference count of the object "posix_acls", which is increased by get_acl() earlier. This may result in memory leaks. Fix it by decreasing the reference count of "posix_acls" before jumping to label "check_access_bits".

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: fix a missing return value check bug In the smb2_send_interim_resp(), if ksmbd_alloc_work_struct() fails to allocate a node, it returns a NULL pointer to the in_work pointer. This can lead to an illegal memory write of in_work->response_buf when allocate_interim_rsp_buf() attempts to perform a kzalloc() on it. To address this issue, incorporating a check for the return value of ksmbd_alloc_work_struct() ensures that the function returns immediately upon allocation failure, thereby preventing the aforementioned illegal memory access.
