    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdgpu: fix a job->pasid access race in gpu recovery Avoid a possible UAF in GPU recovery due to a race between the sched timeout callback and the tdr work queue. The gpu recovery function calls drm_sched_stop() and later drm_sched_start(). drm_sched_start() restarts the tdr queue which will eventually free the job. If the tdr queue frees the job before time out callback completes, the job will be freed and we'll get a UAF when accessing the pasid. Cache it early to avoid the UAF. Example KASAN trace: [ 493.058141] BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in amdgpu_device_gpu_recover+0x968/0x990 [amdgpu] [ 493.067530] Read of size 4 at addr ffff88b0ce3f794c by task kworker/u128:1/323 [ 493.074892] [ 493.076485] CPU: 9 UID: 0 PID: 323 Comm: kworker/u128:1 Tainted: G E 6.16.0-1289896.2.zuul.bf4f11df81c1410bbe901c4373305a31 #1 PREEMPT(voluntary) [ 493.076493] Tainted: [E]=UNSIGNED_MODULE [ 493.076495] Hardware name: TYAN B8021G88V2HR-2T/S8021GM2NR-2T, BIOS V1.03.B10 04/01/2019 [ 493.076500] Workqueue: amdgpu-reset-dev drm_sched_job_timedout [gpu_sched] [ 493.076512] Call Trace: [ 493.076515

  • Dec 30, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath9k: avoid referencing uninit memory in ath9k_wmi_ctrl_rx For the reasons also desCVE-2023-54300 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath9k: avoid referencing uninit memory in ath9k_wmi_ctrl_rx For the reasons also described in commit b383e8abed41 ("wifi: ath9k: avoid uninit memory read in ath9k_htc_rx_msg()"), ath9k_htc_rx_msg() should validate pkt_len before accessing the SKB. For example, the obtained SKB may have been badly constructed with pkt_len = 8. In this case, the SKB can only contain a valid htc_frame_hdr but after being processed in ath9k_htc_rx_msg() and passed to ath9k_wmi_ctrl_rx() endpoint RX handler, it is expected to have a WMI command header which should be located inside its data payload. Implement sanity checking inside ath9k_wmi_ctrl_rx(). Otherwise, uninit memory can be referenced. Tested on Qualcomm Atheros Communications AR9271 802.11n . Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with Syzkaller.

  • Dec 30, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: powerpc/pseries: Rework lppaca_shared_proc() to avoid DEBUG_PREEMPT lppaca_shared_proc() tCVE-2023-54267 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: powerpc/pseries: Rework lppaca_shared_proc() to avoid DEBUG_PREEMPT lppaca_shared_proc() takes a pointer to the lppaca which is typically accessed through get_lppaca(). With DEBUG_PREEMPT enabled, this leads to checking if preemption is enabled, for example: BUG: using smp_processor_id() in preemptible [00000000] code: grep/10693 caller is lparcfg_data+0x408/0x19a0 CPU: 4 PID: 10693 Comm: grep Not tainted 6.5.0-rc3 #2 Call Trace: dump_stack_lvl+0x154/0x200 (unreliable) check_preemption_disabled+0x214/0x220 lparcfg_data+0x408/0x19a0 ... This isn't actually a problem however, as it does not matter which lppaca is accessed, the shared proc state will be the same. vcpudispatch_stats_procfs_init() already works around this by disabling preemption, but the lparcfg code does not, erroring any time /proc/powerpc/lparcfg is accessed with DEBUG_PREEMPT enabled. Instead of disabling preemption on the caller side, rework lppaca_shared_proc() to not take a pointer and instead directly access the lppaca, bypassing any potential preemption checks. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: avoid out of bounds access in decode_preauth_ctxt() Confirm that the accessed pneg_ctxt->HashAlgorithms address sits within the SMB request boundary; deassemble_neg_contexts() only checks that the eight byte smb2_neg_context header + (client controlled) DataLength are within the packet boundary, which is insufficient. Checking for sizeof(struct smb2_preauth_neg_context) is overkill given that the type currently assumes SMB311_SALT_SIZE bytes of trailing Salt.

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: hci_sync: Avoid use-after-free in dbg for hci_remove_adv_monitor() KASAN reports that there's a use-after-free in hci_remove_adv_monitor(). Trawling through the disassembly, you can see that the complaint is from the access in bt_dev_dbg() under the HCI_ADV_MONITOR_EXT_MSFT case. The problem case happens because msft_remove_monitor() can end up freeing the monitor structure. Specifically: hci_remove_adv_monitor() -> msft_remove_monitor() -> msft_remove_monitor_sync() -> msft_le_cancel_monitor_advertisement_cb() -> hci_free_adv_monitor() Let's fix the problem by just stashing the relevant data when it's still valid.

  • Dec 30, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: powerpc/rtas: avoid device tree lookups in rtas_os_term() rtas_os_term() is called during CVE-2022-50870 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: powerpc/rtas: avoid device tree lookups in rtas_os_term() rtas_os_term() is called during panic. Its behavior depends on a couple of conditions in the /rtas node of the device tree, the traversal of which entails locking and local IRQ state changes. If the kernel panics while devtree_lock is held, rtas_os_term() as currently written could hang. Instead of discovering the relevant characteristics at panic time, cache them in file-static variables at boot. Note the lookup for "ibm,extended-os-term" is converted to of_property_read_bool() since it is a boolean property, not an RTAS function token. [mpe: Incorporate suggested change from Nick]

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: hfs/hfsplus: avoid WARN_ON() for sanity check, use proper error handling Commit 55d1cbbbb29e ("hfs/hfsplus: use WARN_ON for sanity check") fixed a build warning by turning a comment into a WARN_ON(), but it turns out that syzbot then complains because it can trigger said warning with a corrupted hfs image. The warning actually does warn about a bad situation, but we are much better off just handling it as the error it is. So rather than warn about us doing bad things, stop doing the bad things and return -EIO. While at it, also fix a memory leak that was introduced by an earlier fix for a similar syzbot warning situation, and add a check for one case that historically wasn't handled at all (ie neither comment nor subsequent WARN_ON).

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath9k: avoid uninit memory read in ath9k_htc_rx_msg() syzbot is reporting uninit value at ath9k_htc_rx_msg() [1], for ioctl(USB_RAW_IOCTL_EP_WRITE) can call ath9k_hif_usb_rx_stream() with pkt_len = 0 but ath9k_hif_usb_rx_stream() uses __dev_alloc_skb(pkt_len + 32, GFP_ATOMIC) based on an assumption that pkt_len is valid. As a result, ath9k_hif_usb_rx_stream() allocates skb with uninitialized memory and ath9k_htc_rx_msg() is reading from uninitialized memory. Since bytes accessed by ath9k_htc_rx_msg() is not known until ath9k_htc_rx_msg() is called, it would be difficult to check minimal valid pkt_len at "if (pkt_len > 2 * MAX_RX_BUF_SIZE) {" line in ath9k_hif_usb_rx_stream(). We have two choices. One is to workaround by adding __GFP_ZERO so that ath9k_htc_rx_msg() sees 0 if pkt_len is invalid. The other is to let ath9k_htc_rx_msg() validate pkt_len before accessing. This patch chose the latter. Note that I'm not sure threshold condition is correct, for I can't find details on possible packet length used by this protocol.

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: btusb: mediatek: Avoid btusb_mtk_claim_iso_intf() NULL deref In btusb_mtk_setup(), we set `btmtk_data->isopkt_intf` to: usb_ifnum_to_if(data->udev, MTK_ISO_IFNUM) That function can return NULL in some cases. Even when it returns NULL, though, we still go on to call btusb_mtk_claim_iso_intf(). As of commit e9087e828827 ("Bluetooth: btusb: mediatek: Add locks for usb_driver_claim_interface()"), calling btusb_mtk_claim_iso_intf() when `btmtk_data->isopkt_intf` is NULL will cause a crash because we'll end up passing a bad pointer to device_lock(). Prior to that commit we'd pass the NULL pointer directly to usb_driver_claim_interface() which would detect it and return an error, which was handled. Resolve the crash in btusb_mtk_claim_iso_intf() by adding a NULL check at the start of the function. This makes the code handle a NULL `btmtk_data->isopkt_intf` the same way it did before the problematic commit (just with a slight change to the error message printed).

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm, fbcon, vga_switcheroo: Avoid race condition in fbcon setup Protect vga_switcheroo_client_fb_set() with console lock. Avoids OOB access in fbcon_remap_all(). Without holding the console lock the call races with switching outputs. VGA switcheroo calls fbcon_remap_all() when switching clients. The fbcon function uses struct fb_info.node, which is set by register_framebuffer(). As the fb-helper code currently sets up VGA switcheroo before registering the framebuffer, the value of node is -1 and therefore not a legal value. For example, fbcon uses the value within set_con2fb_map() [1] as an index into an array. Moving vga_switcheroo_client_fb_set() after register_framebuffer() can result in VGA switching that does not switch fbcon correctly. Therefore move vga_switcheroo_client_fb_set() under fbcon_fb_registered(), which already holds the console lock. Fbdev calls fbcon_fb_registered() from within register_framebuffer(). Serializes the helper with VGA switcheroo's call to fbcon_remap_all(). Although vga_switcheroo_client_fb_set() takes an instance of struct fb_info as parameter, it really only needs the conta

The root cause is that `clusterofs` can be larger than `lclustersize` for !NONHEAD `lclusters` in corrupted subpage compact indexes, e.g.: blocksize = lclustersize = 512 lcn = 6 clusterofs = 515 Move the corresponding check for full compress indexes to `z_erofs_load_lcluster_from_disk()` to also cover subpage compact compress indexes. It also fixes the position of `m->type >= Z_EROFS_LCLUSTER_TYPE_MAX` check, since it should be placed right after `z_erofs_load_{compact,full}_lcluster()`.

Because the thread sc_task main function nilfs_segctor_thread() returns 0 when it succeeds, when the return value of kthread_stop() is not 0 in nilfs_segctor_destroy(), we believe that it has not properly closed sc_timer. We use timer_shutdown_sync() to sync wait for sc_timer to shutdown, and set the value of sc_task to NULL under the protection of lock sc_state_lock, so as to avoid the issue caused by sc_timer not being properly shutdowned. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: veth: more robust handing of race to avoid txq getting stuck Commit dc82a33297fc ("veth: apply qdisc backpressure on full ptr_ring to reduce TX drops") introduced a race condition that can lead to a permanently stalled TXQ. This was observed in production on ARM64 systems (Ampere Altra Max). The race occurs in veth_xmit(). The producer observes a full ptr_ring and stops the queue (netif_tx_stop_queue()). The subsequent conditional logic, intended to re-wake the queue if the consumer had just emptied it (if (__ptr_ring_empty(...)) netif_tx_wake_queue()), can fail. This leads to a "lost wakeup" where the TXQ remains stopped (QUEUE_STATE_DRV_XOFF) and traffic halts. This failure is caused by an incorrect use of the __ptr_ring_empty() API from the producer side. As noted in kernel comments, this check is not guaranteed to be correct if a consumer is operating on another CPU. The empty test is based on ptr_ring->consumer_head, making it reliable only for the consumer. Using this check from the producer side is fundamentally racy. This patch fixes the race by adopting the more robust logic from an earlier version V4

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: slab: Avoid race on slab->obj_exts in alloc_slab_obj_exts If two competing threads enter alloc_slab_obj_exts() and one of them fails to allocate the object extension vector, it might override the valid slab->obj_exts allocated by the other thread with OBJEXTS_ALLOC_FAIL. This will cause the thread that lost this race and expects a valid pointer to dereference a NULL pointer later on. Update slab->obj_exts atomically using cmpxchg() to avoid slab->obj_exts overrides by racing threads. Thanks for Vlastimil and Suren's help with debugging.

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nvmet-fc: avoid scheduling association deletion twice When forcefully shutting down a port via the configfs interface, nvmet_port_subsys_drop_link() first calls nvmet_port_del_ctrls() and then nvmet_disable_port(). Both functions will eventually schedule all remaining associations for deletion. The current implementation checks whether an association is about to be removed, but only after the work item has already been scheduled. As a result, it is possible for the first scheduled work item to free all resources, and then for the same work item to be scheduled again for deletion. Because the association list is an RCU list, it is not possible to take a lock and remove the list entry directly, so it cannot be looked up again. Instead, a flag (terminating) must be used to determine whether the association is already in the process of being deleted.

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iio: adc: ina2xx: avoid NULL pointer dereference on OF device match The affected lines were resulting in a NULL pointer dereference on our platform because the device tree contained the following list of compatible strings: power-sensor@40 { compatible = "ti,ina232", "ti,ina231"; ... }; Since the driver doesn't declare a compatible string "ti,ina232", the OF matching succeeds on "ti,ina231". But the I2C device ID info is populated via the first compatible string, cf. modalias population in of_i2c_get_board_info(). Since there is no "ina232" entry in the legacy I2C device ID table either, the struct i2c_device_id *id pointer in the probe function is NULL. Fix this by using the already populated type variable instead, which points to the proper driver data. Since the name is also wanted, add a generic one to the ina2xx_config table.

  • Dec 9, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: arm64: mte: Avoid setting PG_mte_tagged if no tags cleared or restored Prior to commit 69eCVE-2022-50675 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: arm64: mte: Avoid setting PG_mte_tagged if no tags cleared or restored Prior to commit 69e3b846d8a7 ("arm64: mte: Sync tags for pages where PTE is untagged"), mte_sync_tags() was only called for pte_tagged() entries (those mapped with PROT_MTE). Therefore mte_sync_tags() could safely use test_and_set_bit(PG_mte_tagged, &page->flags) without inadvertently setting PG_mte_tagged on an untagged page. The above commit was required as guests may enable MTE without any control at the stage 2 mapping, nor a PROT_MTE mapping in the VMM. However, the side-effect was that any page with a PTE that looked like swap (or migration) was getting PG_mte_tagged set automatically. A subsequent page copy (e.g. migration) copied the tags to the destination page even if the tags were owned by KASAN. This issue was masked by the page_kasan_tag_reset() call introduced in commit e5b8d9218951 ("arm64: mte: reset the page tag in page->flags"). When this commit was reverted (20794545c146), KASAN started reporting access faults because the overriding tags in a page did not match the original page->flags (with CONFIG_KASAN_HW_TAGS=y): BUG

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: erofs: kill hooked chains to avoid loops on deduplicated compressed images After heavily stressing EROFS with several images which include a hand-crafted image of repeated patterns for more than 46 days, I found two chains could be linked with each other almost simultaneously and form a loop so that the entire loop won't be submitted. As a consequence, the corresponding file pages will remain locked forever. It can be _only_ observed on data-deduplicated compressed images. For example, consider two chains with five pclusters in total: Chain 1: 2->3->4->5 -- The tail pcluster is 5; Chain 2: 5->1->2 -- The tail pcluster is 2. Chain 2 could link to Chain 1 with pcluster 5; and Chain 1 could link to Chain 2 at the same time with pcluster 2. Since hooked chains are all linked locklessly now, I have no idea how to simply avoid the race. Instead, let's avoid hooked chains completely until I could work out a proper way to fix this and end users finally tell us that it's needed to add it back. Actually, this optimization can be found with multi-threaded workloads (especially even more often on de
