Feb 4, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: irqchip/gic-v3-its: Avoid truncating memory addresses On 32-bit machines with CONFIG_ARM_LCVE-2026-23085 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Medium 5.5
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: irqchip/gic-v3-its: Avoid truncating memory addresses On 32-bit machines with CONFIG_ARM_LPAE, it is possible for lowmem allocations to be backed by addresses physical memory above the 32-bit address limit, as found while experimenting with larger VMSPLIT configurations. This caused the qemu virt model to crash in the GICv3 driver, which allocates the 'itt' object using GFP_KERNEL. Since all memory below the 4GB physical address limit is in ZONE_DMA in this configuration, kmalloc() defaults to higher addresses for ZONE_NORMAL, and the ITS driver stores the physical address in a 32-bit 'unsigned long' variable. Change the itt_addr variable to the correct phys_addr_t type instead, along with all other variables in this driver that hold a physical address. The gicv5 driver correctly uses u64 variables, while all other irqchip drivers don't call virt_to_phys or similar interfaces. It's expected that other device drivers have similar issues, but fixing this one is sufficient for booting a virtio based guest.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ACPICA: Avoid walking the Namespace if start_node is NULL Although commit 0c9992315e73 ("ACPICA: Avoid walking the ACPI Namespace if it is not there") fixed the situation when both start_node and acpi_gbl_root_node are NULL, the Linux kernel mainline now still crashed on Honor Magicbook 14 Pro [1]. That happens due to the access to the member of parent_node in acpi_ns_get_next_node(). The NULL pointer dereference will always happen, no matter whether or not the start_node is equal to ACPI_ROOT_OBJECT, so move the check of start_node being NULL out of the if block. Unfortunately, all the attempts to contact Honor have failed, they refused to provide any technical support for Linux. The bad DSDT table's dump could be found on GitHub [2]. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: hwmon: (w83791d) Convert macros to functions to avoid TOCTOU The macro FAN_FROM_REG evaluates its arguments multiple times. When used in lockless contexts involving shared driver data, this leads to Time-of-Check to Time-of-Use (TOCTOU) race conditions, potentially causing divide-by-zero errors. Convert the macro to a static function. This guarantees that arguments are evaluated only once (pass-by-value), preventing the race conditions. Additionally, in store_fan_div, move the calculation of the minimum limit inside the update lock. This ensures that the read-modify-write sequence operates on consistent data. Adhere to the principle of minimal changes by only converting macros that evaluate arguments multiple times and are used in lockless contexts.

Jan 13, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ethtool: Avoid overflowing userspace buffer on stats query The ethtool -S command operatesCVE-2025-68795 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.8
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ethtool: Avoid overflowing userspace buffer on stats query The ethtool -S command operates across three ioctl calls: ETHTOOL_GSSET_INFO for the size, ETHTOOL_GSTRINGS for the names, and ETHTOOL_GSTATS for the values. If the number of stats changes between these calls (e.g., due to device reconfiguration), userspace's buffer allocation will be incorrect, potentially leading to buffer overflow. Drivers are generally expected to maintain stable stat counts, but some drivers (e.g., mlx5, bnx2x, bna, ksz884x) use dynamic counters, making this scenario possible. Some drivers try to handle this internally: - bnad_get_ethtool_stats() returns early in case stats.n_stats is not equal to the driver's stats count. - micrel/ksz884x also makes sure not to write anything beyond stats.n_stats and overflow the buffer. However, both use stats.n_stats which is already assigned with the value returned from get_sset_count(), hence won't solve the issue described here. Change ethtool_get_strings(), ethtool_get_stats(), ethtool_get_phy_stats() to not return anything in case of a mismatch between userspace's size and get_sset_s

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdgpu: fix a job->pasid access race in gpu recovery Avoid a possible UAF in GPU recovery due to a race between the sched timeout callback and the tdr work queue. The gpu recovery function calls drm_sched_stop() and later drm_sched_start(). drm_sched_start() restarts the tdr queue which will eventually free the job. If the tdr queue frees the job before time out callback completes, the job will be freed and we'll get a UAF when accessing the pasid. Cache it early to avoid the UAF. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath9k: avoid referencing uninit memory in ath9k_wmi_ctrl_rx For the reasons also described in commit b383e8abed41 ("wifi: ath9k: avoid uninit memory read in ath9k_htc_rx_msg()"), ath9k_htc_rx_msg() should validate pkt_len before accessing the SKB. For example, the obtained SKB may have been badly constructed with pkt_len = 8. In this case, the SKB can only contain a valid htc_frame_hdr but after being processed in ath9k_htc_rx_msg() and passed to ath9k_wmi_ctrl_rx() endpoint RX handler, it is expected to have a WMI command header which should be located inside its data payload. Implement sanity checking inside ath9k_wmi_ctrl_rx(). Otherwise, uninit memory can be referenced. Tested on Qualcomm Atheros Communications AR9271 802.11n . Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with Syzkaller.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: powerpc/pseries: Rework lppaca_shared_proc() to avoid DEBUG_PREEMPT lppaca_shared_proc() takes a pointer to the lppaca which is typically accessed through get_lppaca(). With DEBUG_PREEMPT enabled, this leads to checking if preemption is enabled, for example: BUG: using smp_processor_id() in preemptible [00000000] code: grep/10693 caller is lparcfg_data+0x408/0x19a0 CPU: 4 PID: 10693 Comm: grep Not tainted 6.5.0-rc3 #2 Call Trace: dump_stack_lvl+0x154/0x200 (unreliable) check_preemption_disabled+0x214/0x220 lparcfg_data+0x408/0x19a0 ... This isn't actually a problem however, as it does not matter which lppaca is accessed, the shared proc state will be the same. vcpudispatch_stats_procfs_init() already works around this by disabling preemption, but the lparcfg code does not, erroring any time /proc/powerpc/lparcfg is accessed with DEBUG_PREEMPT enabled. Instead of disabling preemption on the caller side, rework lppaca_shared_proc() to not take a pointer and instead directly access the lppaca, bypassing any potential preemption checks. Trawling through the disassembly, you can see that the complaint is from the access in bt_dev_dbg() under the HCI_ADV_MONITOR_EXT_MSFT case. The problem case happens because msft_remove_monitor() can end up freeing the monitor structure. Specifically: hci_remove_adv_monitor() -> msft_remove_monitor() -> msft_remove_monitor_sync() -> msft_le_cancel_monitor_advertisement_cb() -> hci_free_adv_monitor() Let's fix the problem by just stashing the relevant data when it's still valid.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: powerpc/rtas: avoid device tree lookups in rtas_os_term() rtas_os_term() is called during panic. Its behavior depends on a couple of conditions in the /rtas node of the device tree, the traversal of which entails locking and local IRQ state changes. If the kernel panics while devtree_lock is held, rtas_os_term() as currently written could hang. Instead of discovering the relevant characteristics at panic time, cache them in file-static variables at boot. Note the lookup for "ibm,extended-os-term" is converted to of_property_read_bool() since it is a boolean property, not an RTAS function token. [mpe: Incorporate suggested change from Nick]

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: hfs/hfsplus: avoid WARN_ON() for sanity check, use proper error handling Commit 55d1cbbbb29e ("hfs/hfsplus: use WARN_ON for sanity check") fixed a build warning by turning a comment into a WARN_ON(), but it turns out that syzbot then complains because it can trigger said warning with a corrupted hfs image. The warning actually does warn about a bad situation, but we are much better off just handling it as the error it is. So rather than warn about us doing bad things, stop doing the bad things and return -EIO. While at it, also fix a memory leak that was introduced by an earlier fix for a similar syzbot warning situation, and add a check for one case that historically wasn't handled at all (ie neither comment nor subsequent WARN_ON).

Avoid the problem by validating that wd is sensible (and pretend the mark got removed before the event got generated otherwise).

Dec 24, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath9k: avoid uninit memory read in ath9k_htc_rx_msg() syzbot is reporting uninit valCVE-2022-50709 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath9k: avoid uninit memory read in ath9k_htc_rx_msg() syzbot is reporting uninit value at ath9k_htc_rx_msg() [1], for ioctl(USB_RAW_IOCTL_EP_WRITE) can call ath9k_hif_usb_rx_stream() with pkt_len = 0 but ath9k_hif_usb_rx_stream() uses __dev_alloc_skb(pkt_len + 32, GFP_ATOMIC) based on an assumption that pkt_len is valid. As a result, ath9k_hif_usb_rx_stream() allocates skb with uninitialized memory and ath9k_htc_rx_msg() is reading from uninitialized memory. Since bytes accessed by ath9k_htc_rx_msg() is not known until ath9k_htc_rx_msg() is called, it would be difficult to check minimal valid pkt_len at "if (pkt_len > 2 * MAX_RX_BUF_SIZE) {" line in ath9k_hif_usb_rx_stream(). We have two choices. One is to workaround by adding __GFP_ZERO so that ath9k_htc_rx_msg() sees 0 if pkt_len is invalid. The other is to let ath9k_htc_rx_msg() validate pkt_len before accessing. This patch chose the latter. Note that I'm not sure threshold condition is correct, for I can't find details on possible packet length used by this protocol.
