  • Aug 19, 2026Lemmy is a link aggregator and forum for the fediverse.CVE-2026-54743 · Other software · LemmyNet · reported by GitHubMedium 6.4

Lemmy is a link aggregator and forum for the fediverse. Prior to lemmy-ui 0.19.19-beta.1, LemmyNet/lemmy-ui renders Markdown in src/shared/markdown.ts for post bodies, comment bodies, private messages, and community and site sidebars through mdToHtml, which returns a raw __html object that Inferno injects without a sanitizer pass. setupMarkdown configures html as false but registers markdown-it-html5-embed@1.0.0 with useImageSyntax enabled, so an image targeting video media becomes a video element whose fallback incorporates the image alt text through unescaped string replacement. The html setting does not apply to plugin-generated output, allowing crafted alt text to reach the DOM as live HTML in contexts that do not use mdToHtmlNoImages. An approved member or a remote federated instance can store such content, and a viewer who renders it may execute JavaScript in the lemmy-ui origin, exposing the viewer's session and authenticated actions. The advisory notes that Content Security Policy prevents the described exploit in production, but also states that the tested default self-hosted deployment serves no Content-Security-Policy. This issue is fixed in lemmy-ui version 0.19.19-beta

  • Aug 19, 2026Lemmy is a link aggregator and forum for the fediverse.CVE-2026-54741 · Other software · LemmyNet · reported by GitHubMedium 5.3

Lemmy is a link aggregator and forum for the fediverse. Prior to 0.19.19 and 1.0.0-alpha.18, Lemmy blocks new private messages from a sender after the recipient blocks that sender, but the edit path skips the same block check. create_private_message checks the recipient's block list with PersonActions::read_block before inserting a message, while edit_private_message in crates/api/api_crud/src/private_message/update.rs only checks that the caller is orig_private_message.creator_id. The update then writes new content and returns the modified PrivateMessageView without consulting the recipient's block list, allowing a blocked sender to keep changing an old message that the recipient can still see and providing a post-block harassment path. This issue is fixed in versions 0.19.19 and 1.0.0-alpha.18.

  • Aug 19, 2026Lemmy is a link aggregator and forum for the fediverse.CVE-2026-54740 · Other software · LemmyNet · reported by GitHubMedium 6.5

Lemmy is a link aggregator and forum for the fediverse. Prior to 0.19.19 and 1.0.0-alpha.18, a lower-ranked remote moderator can remove a higher-ranked moderator by sending a signed ActivityPub Remove activity to the target instance. The local API uses LocalUser::is_higher_mod_or_admin_check to enforce moderator rank, but CollectionRemove::verify in crates/apub/activities/src/community/collection_remove.rs only calls verify_mod_action. CollectionRemove::receive dereferences self.object as an ApubPerson, creates a CommunityModeratorForm, and calls CommunityActions::leave without checking that the actor outranks the moderator identified by the object field. In communities with federated moderators, a junior moderator can therefore strip senior moderators from the community moderator list even though the local API rejects the same action. This issue is fixed in versions 0.19.19 and 1.0.0-alpha.18.

  • Aug 19, 2026Lemmy is a link aggregator and forum for the fediverse.CVE-2026-54739 · Other software · LemmyNet · reported by GitHubMedium 6.9

Lemmy is a link aggregator and forum for the fediverse. Prior to 0.19.19 and 1.0.0-beta.1, Lemmy's login endpoint in crates/api/api/src/local_user/login.rs returns different errors depending on whether the username_or_email value exists. LocalUserView::find_by_email_or_name propagates a NotFound response for an unknown account, while an existing account with a wrong password returns LemmyErrorType::IncorrectLogin. This observable response discrepancy, including HTTP 404 for a nonexistent account and HTTP 400 for an incorrect password on an existing account, allows an unauthenticated attacker to confirm registered usernames or email addresses and use the results for targeted credential attacks or social engineering. This issue is fixed in versions 0.19.19 and 1.0.0-beta.1.

  • Aug 19, 2026Lemmy is a link aggregator and forum for the fediverse.CVE-2026-54738 · Other software · LemmyNet · reported by GitHubMedium 6.5

Lemmy is a link aggregator and forum for the fediverse. Prior to 0.19.19 and 1.0.0-beta.1, actix-web ConnectionInfo::realip_remote_addr reads the first value of X-Forwarded-For as the client address used by raw_ip_key in crates/utils/src/rate_limit/mod.rs. Lemmy's bundled docker/nginx.conf uses $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for instead of $remote_addr, which appends the real client address to an X-Forwarded-For value supplied by the client. An unauthenticated attacker can therefore place a different spoofed address first on each request and receive a new rate-limit bucket, bypassing limits on POST /api/v4/account/auth/register, POST /api/v4/account/auth/login, POST /api/v4/post, POST /api/v4/comment, GET /api/v4/search, POST /api/v4/image, and POST /api/v4/account/import_settings. This permits excessive account creation, brute-force attempts, spam, scraping, uploads, and repeated imports. This issue is fixed in versions 0.19.19 and 1.0.0-beta.1.

  • Aug 19, 2026The IPv6 neighbor-discovery code in subsys/net/ip/ipv6_nbr.c processes the 6LoWPAN Context Option (6CO, RFC 6775) carried inside ICMPv6 Router Advertisements.CVE-2026-12633 · Other software · zephyrproject · reported by vulnerabilities@zephyrproject.orgHigh 8.1

The IPv6 neighbor-discovery code in subsys/net/ip/ipv6_nbr.c processes the 6LoWPAN Context Option (6CO, RFC 6775) carried inside ICMPv6 Router Advertisements. In handle_ra_6co() the 8-bit context_len field is taken directly from the packet and was never bounded to the RFC maximum of 128. The function computes context->context_len / 8 and then performs memset(context->prefix + context_len, 0, sizeof(context->prefix) - context_len), where context->prefix is a fixed 16-byte array. With context_len between 136 and 255 (and the option length field set to 3, which the pre-fix validation accepts), context_len / 8 evaluates to 17..31, so the memset length 16 - context_len/8 underflows the unsigned size_t argument to roughly SIZE_MAX. This produces an unbounded out-of-bounds memset that zeroes kernel memory well past the 6lo context structure. The defect is reachable from unauthenticated, link-local input: any host on the same link can send a crafted Router Advertisement with a 6CO option. The RA handler validates only the option length field before calling handle_ra_6co(), so a single packet triggers the wild write. The code is compiled when CONFIG_NET_6LO_CONTEXT is enabled. • Aug 19, 2026Lemmy is a link aggregator and forum for the fediverse.CVE-2026-54742 · Other software · LemmyNet · reported by GitHubMedium 5.1

Lemmy is a link aggregator and forum for the fediverse. From 0.19.18 until 0.19.19 and 1.0.0-alpha.20, a community moderator can feature or unfeature posts in other communities through federated CollectionAdd and CollectionRemove activities using CollectionType::Featured. After verify_mod_action authorizes the actor against self.community(), the receive handlers in crates/apub/activities/src/community/collection_add.rs and crates/apub/activities/src/community/collection_remove.rs dereference self.object as an ApubPost and update featured_community without verifying that post.community_id equals community.id. A moderator can therefore target an unrelated post owned by another community, push it into featured feeds and listings, or undo another community's legitimate curation decision. This issue is fixed in versions 0.19.19 and 1.0.0-alpha.20.

  • Aug 19, 2026A flaw was found in search-v2-operator.CVE-2026-70496 · Other software · Red Hat · reported by Red HatCritical 9.9

A flaw was found in search-v2-operator. The operator's ClusterRole has permissions equivalent to a cluster administrator, allowing it to impersonate other entities, write Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) configurations, approve Certificate Signing Requests (CSRs), and manage ManifestWork. This grants excessive privileges beyond what is necessary for the operator's intended function, potentially leading to privilege escalation within the cluster.

A flaw was found in volsync-addon-controller. This vulnerability allows an attacker to inject malicious YAML (Yet Another Markup Language) code into the OpenShift Lifecycle Manager (OLM) Subscription resource. This is due to improper escaping of annotation values when they are rendered into YAML. • Aug 19, 2026Contour is a Kubernetes ingress controller using Envoy proxy.CVE-2026-50149 · Other software · projectcontour · reported by GitHubMedium 6.5

Contour is a Kubernetes ingress controller using Envoy proxy. In versions 1.23.0 through 1.33.4, when an `HTTPProxy` is configured with incompatible combination of both `.spec.virtualhost.tls.enableFallbackCertificate: true` and `.spec.virtualhost.jwtProviders`, Contour does not reject the configuration. Consequently, requests from clients that do not send TLS SNI or send an unrecognized SNI (one that does not match any `HTTPProxy` FQDN) bypass configured JWT verification and are proxied to upstream services without a valid token. This issue is fixed in Contour v1.33.5. Contour now rejects and marks invalid any `HTTPProxy` resources that combine `.spec.virtualhost.tls.enableFallbackCertificate: true` with `.spec.virtualhost.jwtProviders`. Affected resources will receive a status condition with the error reason `TLSIncompatibleFeatures`. As a workaround, do not enable `.spec.virtualhost.tls.enableFallbackCertificate` on `HTTPProxy` resources that also define `.spec.virtualhost.jwtProviders`. Remove one of the two settings to avoid the invalid configuration.

electerm is an open-sourced terminal/ssh/sftp/telnet/serialport/RDP/VNC/Spice/ftp client. Prior to 3.11.11, electerm constructs operating system commands in src/app/lib/fs.js by interpolating untrusted file paths into the rmrf(), mv(), and cp() functions. A malicious SSH or SFTP server can provide a filename containing quote characters and shell metacharacters, and a victim can cause that filename to reach the affected operation during remote-to-local transfer, conflict renaming, copying, moving, or removal. The generated `rm -rf`, mv, `cp -r`, PowerShell Remove-Item, Move-Item, or Copy-Item command can then interpret the filename as shell syntax. This allows arbitrary command execution with the electerm desktop user's privileges on POSIX and Windows systems, enabling data exfiltration, file modification, malware installation, or denial of service. This issue is fixed in version 3.11.11.

electerm is an open-sourced terminal/ssh/sftp/telnet/serialport/RDP/VNC/Spice/ftp client. Prior to 3.11.11, electerm uses remote-supplied filenames directly with path.join() while receiving Zmodem and Trzsz transfers. In src/app/server/zmodem.js, prepareReceiveFile() joins the filename to the user-selected save path, and in src/app/server/trzsz.js, getUniqueFilePath(), the openSaveFile() callback, and the savedFilePaths mapping construct destinations without sanitization. A malicious SSH server or remote shell can provide a filename containing traversal components such as ../escaped.txt or ../../.bashrc. When the victim accepts the transfer and selects a download directory, electerm can write outside that directory and overwrite files accessible to the desktop user, potentially changing sensitive configuration or impairing availability. This issue is fixed in version 3.11.11.

  • Aug 19, 2026SSHFS is a network filesystem client for connecting to SSH servers.CVE-2026-48711 · Other software · libfuse · reported by GitHubHigh 7

SSHFS is a network filesystem client for connecting to SSH servers. From version 1.4 until 3.7.6, SSHFS accepts a bracketed mount source such as [-oProxyCommand=CMD]:/path and find_base_path() removes the brackets, leaving a host value that begins with - and is passed directly to ssh as a command-line argument. When a caller also supplies a path-valued sftp_server, ssh treats the normalized host as an option and the server path as its destination, causing an injected ProxyCommand to execute locally before any connection or authentication succeeds. The attack requires a caller or wrapper that passes an attacker-controlled mount source to SSHFS with the required sftp_server configuration and results in arbitrary command execution as the user running SSHFS. This issue is fixed in version 3.7.6.

  • Aug 19, 2026SSHFS is a network filesystem client for connecting to SSH servers.CVE-2026-47187 · Other software · libfuse · reported by GitHubCritical 9.3

SSHFS is a network filesystem client for connecting to SSH servers. Prior to version 3.7.6, a rogue SFTP server can return absolute symlink targets or relative targets containing parent-directory components that SSHFS passes through FUSE for resolution by the client kernel against the local filesystem. The documented transform_symlinks mitigation does not contain relative targets because transform_symlink() returns early at sshfs.c:2181, while sshfs_readlink() at sshfs.c:2234 to sshfs.c:2236 otherwise copies the server-supplied link target to the kernel. A victim or victim-side tool that follows such a link through ordinary operations such as cp, rsync, backup tooling, or an editor can disclose readable local files back to the server or write server-controlled content to writable local files, potentially including startup or scheduled-task files. This issue is fixed in version 3.7.6.

Net::OAuth versions before 0.33 for Perl check HMAC-SHA1, HMAC-SHA256 and PLAINTEXT signatures with a non-constant-time comparison in verify. Each of the three compares the signature carried in the message against the locally computed one with the eq operator, which returns as soon as the two strings differ. The time taken to reject a signature varies with the length of the matching prefix. RSA-SHA1 is not affected, as it verifies through the RSA key object rather than by comparing strings. A client that can submit messages and time the replies may recover a valid signature one byte at a time rather than searching the whole signature space. Under PLAINTEXT the value compared against is the signature key itself, so the search recovers consumer_secret and token_secret.

Net::OAuth versions before 0.33 for Perl allow the sender to choose the signature algorithm in verify. verify resolves the signature method class from the signature_method parameter of the incoming message. signature_method is required on every request, so the algorithm used to check a signature is chosen by whoever sent it, and nothing lets the verifying party pin the method instead. When a message names HMAC-SHA1 or HMAC-SHA256, the key is derived from consumer_secret and token_secret rather than from the key the provider deployed. A provider deployed on RSA-SHA1 holds only the consumer public key, and RFC 5849 does not use consumer_secret for that method, so the required parameter is filled with a placeholder. A client that names HMAC-SHA1 instead has its signature checked against that placeholder, so a guessable one is enough to forge requests for any consumer key and token.

  • Aug 18, 2026CefSharp provides .NET bindings for the Chromium Embedded Framework for Windows Forms and Windows Presentation Foundation applications.CVE-2026-48796 · Other software · cefsharp · reported by GitHubMedium 5.3

CefSharp provides .NET bindings for the Chromium Embedded Framework for Windows Forms and Windows Presentation Foundation applications. Prior to version 148.0.90, CefSharp/SchemeHandler/FolderSchemeHandlerFactory.cs used filePath.StartsWith(rootFolder, StringComparison.OrdinalIgnoreCase) to decide whether a decoded and canonicalized request path remained inside rootFolder. That raw prefix test did not enforce a directory boundary, so a request such as ..%2fwww2/secret.txt could escape a configured www directory into a sibling www2 directory whose path shared the same string prefix. Applications that register FolderSchemeHandlerFactory for a custom scheme or an HTTP or HTTPS scheme can therefore serve local files outside the intended root when an attacker can cause the embedded browser to request the crafted URL. The issue affects both Unix-style paths such as /tmp/app/www2 and Windows paths such as C:\app\www2, and the fix appends a directory separator to the normalized root before comparison while rejecting null bytes and alternate data stream syntax. This issue is fixed in version 148.0.90.

  • Aug 18, 2026Zephyr's Precision Time Protocol receive handler ptp_msg_post_recv() in subsys/net/lib/ptp/msg.c takes the 4-bit message type straight off the wire via ptp_msg_CVE-2026-12632 · Other software · zephyrproject · reported by vulnerabilities@zephyrproject.orgMedium 6.5

Zephyr's Precision Time Protocol receive handler ptp_msg_post_recv() in subsys/net/lib/ptp/msg.c takes the 4-bit message type straight off the wire via ptp_msg_type() (msg->header.type_major_sdo_id & 0xF, range 0-15) and uses it to index the msg_size[] table. That table only defines entries up to PTP_MSG_MANAGEMENT (0xD), giving it ARRAY_SIZE == 14. Before the fix there was no upper-bound check, so the undefined types 0xE and 0xF indexed one or two int slots past the end of the array — an out-of-bounds read of adjacent read-only data. The out-of-bounds value is then reused as a length: it gates msg_size[type] > cnt, and when it is small or negative it makes cnt - msg_size[type] a large positive budget passed to msg_tlv_post_recv(), whose TLV loop then walks the message suffix past the received bytes, performing further out-of-bounds reads and in-place byte-swap writes on memory beyond the message slab. The defect is reached directly from the network: ptp_port_event_gen() in subsys/net/lib/ptp/port.c reads a PTP frame with ptp_transport_recv() and calls ptp_msg_post_recv() with the attacker-chosen type. PTP uses UDP multicast or raw Ethernet (0x88F7) and is unauthenticated, so any

  • Aug 18, 2026Lemur manages TLS certificate creation.CVE-2026-71417 · Other software · Netflix · reported by GitHubHigh 7.3

Lemur manages TLS certificate creation. Prior to 1.9.3, POST /api/1/certificates/upload allowed a non-read-only user to create a duplicate row using another certificate body, authority_id, serial, or external_id without requiring permission on the underlying authority. PUT /api/1/certificates//revoke authorized the caller against only the selected Lemur row, so the creator of the duplicate bypassed CertificatePermission. The duplicate had no cert.endpoints, which also bypassed the safeguard that prevents revocation of deployed certificates. Issuer plugins then revoked the real CA-side certificate using certificate.body or external_id under the stored authority credentials. An attacker could therefore revoke arbitrary managed certificates and cause fleet-wide TLS denial of service. The fix rejects duplicate authority_id and serial identities, requires authority access on upload, and checks every matching row during revocation. This issue is fixed in version 1.9.3.

  • Aug 18, 2026Lemur manages TLS certificate creation.CVE-2026-71322 · Other software · Netflix · reported by GitHubMedium 4.3

Lemur manages TLS certificate creation. Prior to 1.9.3, CertificateExport placed its CertificatePermission ownership check inside the plugin.requires_key branch for POST /api/1/certificates//export. A plugin declaring requires_key false bypassed that check, and the handler still passed cert.private_key as an argument and recorded a key_view audit event. The bundled JavaTruststoreExportPlugin ignored the key, so the immediate exposure was limited to public certificate material and misleading audit entries, but a future plugin could have consumed the supplied key. The fix passes no private key to plugins that do not require one and confines ownership checks and key_view logging to actual private-key exports. This issue is fixed in version 1.9.3.

  • Aug 18, 2026Lemur manages TLS certificate creation.CVE-2026-71317 · Other software · Netflix · reported by GitHubMedium 6.5

Lemur manages TLS certificate creation. Prior to 1.9.3, POST /api/1/authorities with type=subca did not require AuthorityPermission on the parent authority when ADMIN_ONLY_AUTHORITY_CREATION was false. AssociatedAuthoritySchema resolved the caller-supplied parent and passed it through authority creation to cryptography-issuer, which used the parent authority_certificate.private_key to sign a new intermediate. Any authenticated non-read-only user in that supported configuration could chain a sub-CA to an internal root for which the user held no role. The resulting intermediate could issue trusted certificates and its private key could be used outside Lemur, bypassing normal issuance controls. The fix checks AuthorityPermission on every supplied parent before invoking the issuer. This issue is fixed in version 1.9.3.

  • Aug 18, 2026Lemur manages TLS certificate creation.CVE-2026-71308 · Other software · Netflix · reported by GitHubHigh 8.1

Lemur manages TLS certificate creation. From 0.5.0 until 1.9.3, certificate create, upload, and edit requests accepted replaces[] or replacements identifiers that AssociatedCertificateSchema resolved with fetch_objects without a CertificatePermission check. Assigning those objects to Certificate.replaces invoked an append listener that disabled the victim certificate notifications and marked it as replaced. The victim was then excluded from get_all_pending_reissue, and certificate_rotate could deploy the attacker certificate to endpoints serving the victim. An authenticated non-read-only user could target certificates for which the user had no ownership or role, suppress lifecycle automation, and cause fleet-wide TLS disruption or unauthorized substitution. The fix authorizes every referenced replacement certificate before mutation. This issue is fixed in version 1.9.3.

Lemur manages TLS certificate creation. Prior to 1.9.3, GET /api/1/destinations and GET /api/1/destinations/ relied only on authentication while sibling write handlers required admin_permission. DestinationOutputSchema returned raw options and copied them into pluginOptions without redacting sensitive values. The sftp-destination plugin stored password and privateKeyPass values in plaintext, allowing even a read-only user to retrieve credentials for remote certificate-deployment hosts. The exposed credentials could permit direct access to SFTP systems and TLS material outside the Lemur security boundary. The fix requires administrator permission for destination reads and redacts options marked sensitive. This issue is fixed in version 1.9.3.

  • Aug 18, 2026Lemur manages TLS certificate creation.CVE-2026-71303 · Other software · Netflix · reported by GitHubHigh 7.7

Lemur manages TLS certificate creation. Prior to 1.9.3, _validate_acme_url enforced ACME_DIRECTORY_HOST_ALLOWLIST when an authority was created, but PUT /api/1/authorities/ passed options to lemur/authorities/service.py without applying the same check. A user holding an authority role could replace the stored acme_url with an internal service or instance-metadata URL such as 169.254.169.254. The next issuance operation loaded that value and passed it to ClientV2.get_directory, causing an outbound request from the Lemur backend. This bypassed the creation-time mitigation for CVE-2026-55166 and could expose internal services or cloud metadata. The fix revalidates acme_url whenever authority options are updated. This issue is fixed in version 1.9.3.

  • Aug 18, 2026Lemur manages TLS certificate creation.CVE-2026-70666 · Other software · Netflix · reported by GitHubHigh 7.4

Lemur manages TLS certificate creation. Prior to 1.9.3, an authority-role member could update acme_url through PUT /api/1/authorities/ without revalidation and direct setup_acme_client_no_retry to an attacker-controlled ACME server. ACME directory and order responses contain newNonce, newOrder, authorizations, and finalize URLs chosen by that server. The Lemur ClientV2 followed those URLs without requiring their host to match the configured directory host, allowing JWS-signed requests to internal services or cloud metadata endpoints. The issue required an ACME authority and a user authorized for that authority, but did not require global administrator privileges. The fix revalidates updates and introduces _PinnedClientNetwork to enforce a single allowed host for the complete ACME flow. This issue is fixed in version 1.9.3.
