Sep 25, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ipv6: mcast: use rcu_assign_pointer() for __rcu list updates Several places in net/ipv6/mcCVE-2026-98099 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Medium 4.7
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ipv6: mcast: use rcu_assign_pointer() for __rcu list updates Several places in net/ipv6/mcast.c update RCU-protected lists (np->ipv6_mc_list, idev->mc_list, idev->mc_tomb) using direct pointer assignments instead of rcu_assign_pointer(): 1. In __ipv6_dev_mc_dec(), unlinking a group from idev->mc_list did: *map = ma->next; without rcu_assign_pointer() while concurrent readers traverse idev->mc_list locklessly under rcu_read_lock(). 2. In ipv6_sock_mc_drop() and __ipv6_sock_mc_close(), unlinking a group from np->ipv6_mc_list directly assigned *lnk = mc_lst->next and np->ipv6_mc_list = mc_lst->next without rcu_assign_pointer(), racing with lockless readers in inet6_mc_check(). 3. In __ipv6_sock_mc_join(), mc_lst->next was initialized to np->ipv6_mc_list via raw assignment before publishing mc_lst. 4. In mld_del_delrec() and __ipv6_dev_mc_inc(), __rcu source pointers passed into rcu_assign_pointer() lacked explicit dereference helpers. Fix these by consistently using rcu_assign_pointer() along with mc_dereference() / sock_dereference().

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: detach failed sprout device from transaction update list When creating the first metadata chunk for a sprout filesystem, create_chunk() adds the new device to the transaction dev_update_list through device->post_commit_list. If the subsequent system chunk creation fails, btrfs_init_new_device() aborts the transaction and releases the device while post_commit_list is still linked. This triggers a warning in btrfs_free_device() and leaves the transaction list referencing freed memory. Detach the device while holding chunk_mutex before releasing it.

Sep 25, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Preserve special fields in recycled rhtab elements rhtab_map_update_elem() initializeCVE-2026-98036 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Preserve special fields in recycled rhtab elements rhtab_map_update_elem() initializes special fields after obtaining an element from bpf_mem_cache_alloc(). The allocator can return a fresh, zeroed unit, or recycle one from its RCU-pending lists before the registered destructor has run. A BPF program can retain a map-value pointer after deleting its element and initialize and arm a timer through that pointer. If the deleted unit is recycled, check_and_init_map_value() clears the only pointer to the timer. Neither a later deletion nor rhtab_mem_dtor() can then cancel it, and the callback can run with its key and value pointing into freed memory. Do not reinitialize special fields on insertion. Fresh allocator units are already zeroed. For recycled units, the special fields are ownership state that must remain visible to the eventual destructor. copy_map_value() already skips those fields, matching the non-preallocated hash-map path and the lifecycle established by commit 275c30bcee66 ("bpf: Don't reinit map value in prealloc_lru_pop"). [ kkd: Split out the fix and rewrote the commit log ]

Sep 25, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Cancel special fields when recycling rhtab elements rhtab_map_update_existing() and rCVE-2026-98035 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Cancel special fields when recycling rhtab elements rhtab_map_update_existing() and rhtab_delete_elem() call bpf_obj_free_fields() when replacing or deleting a value. These map operations can run from BPF programs in NMI context, where releasing a referenced kptr or another complex field is not generally safe. Array and hash maps avoid that problem by cancelling only the asynchronous fields which can be stopped safely in the caller context. Other ownership state remains attached to the allocation until its memory allocator destructor performs the final cleanup. Use bpf_obj_cancel_fields() for the corresponding rhtab paths as well. This cancels timers, workqueues, and task work while allowing rhtab_mem_dtor() to release referenced kptrs when the allocation is eventually destroyed. [ kkd: Rebased, used direct helper calls, and rewrote the commit log ]

Sep 25, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: af_unix: Update last skb marker in manage_oob().CVE-2026-97985 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: af_unix: Update last skb marker in manage_oob(). Fahad Alharbi reported that blocking recv(MSG_PEEK) could hog CPU due to OOB skb. In the following cases, manage_oob() skips OOB skb(s) and returns NULL for the last recv(MSG_PEEK): socketpair(AF_UNIX, SOCK_STREAM, 0, sk); 1) skb -> OOB skb -> NULL send(sk[0], "ab", 2, MSG_OOB); recv(sk[1], buf, 0, MSG_PEEK); 2) skb -> consumed OOB skb -> NULL send(sk[0], "ab", 2, MSG_OOB); recv(sk[1], buf, 1, MSG_OOB); recv(sk[1], buf, 0, MSG_PEEK); 3) consumed OOB skb -> OOB skb -> NULL send(sk[0], "a", 1, MSG_OOB); recv(sk[1], buf, 0, MSG_OOB); send(sk[0], "b", 1, MSG_OOB); recv(sk[1], buf, 1, MSG_PEEK); Then, @copied is 0 in unix_stream_read_generic() (zero-length buffer, or non-OOB skb is not yet consumed), and unix_stream_data_wait() is called. However, it returns immediately because @last is not updated in unix_stream_read_generic(), and the thread busy-waits for a new skb. Let's update @last in manage_oob(). For MSG_PEEK, @last is updated with the skipped OOB, and for the non-peek case, @last matches the returned

Sep 25, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ieee802154: hwsim: serialize pib updates to fix double-free hwsim_update_pib() does an unsCVE-2026-97599 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ieee802154: hwsim: serialize pib updates to fix double-free hwsim_update_pib() does an unserialized read-swap-free of phy->pib: pib_old = rtnl_dereference(phy->pib); ... rcu_assign_pointer(phy->pib, pib); kfree_rcu(pib_old, rcu); It assumes the RTNL is held, but ->set_channel is not always called under it: the mac802154 scan worker changes channels via drv_set_channel() without the RTNL. Such an update can race an RTNL-held one on the same phy; both read the same pib_old and both kfree_rcu() it, double-freeing the object. With SLUB percpu sheaves batching kfree_rcu(), this surfaces as a KASAN invalid-free in rcu_free_sheaf(). struct hwsim_phy has no lock for pib. Add one and make the swap atomic with rcu_replace_pointer() under it, dropping the misleading rtnl_dereference().

Sep 25, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xfs: initialise args->total for parent pointer updates xfs_parent_da_args_init() builds anCVE-2026-97551 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xfs: initialise args->total for parent pointer updates xfs_parent_da_args_init() builds an xfs_da_args from a zeroed xfs_parent_args (kmem_cache_zalloc), leaving args->total == 0. xfs_da_grow_inode_int() treats that field as a running block reservation and subtracts from it; because it is an xfs_extlen_t (uint32_t), the first attr-fork growth wraps it to ~0U. That defeats the free-space check in xfs_alloc_space_available(), and when it coincides with an AG that has exactly zero available blocks the allocation is clamped to maxlen 0 and returns -ENOSPC, which xfs_defer_finish_noroll() escalates to a filesystem shutdown. Set args->total the way the log recovery path does (xfs_attri_recover_work(), xfs_attr_item.c:706), in the add and replace paths that can grow the fork. Removals and lookups never grow it, so they leave the field alone, matching that switch.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: perf/x86/intel/pt: Fix stop/start with no update If pt_event_stop() is called without PERF_EF_UPDATE flag, then perf_aux_output_end() is not called. A subsequent call to pt_event_start() will call perf_aux_output_begin() again which violates the rule against nesting and triggers a WARNING in perf_aux_output_begin(). Originally, pt_event_stop() was never called without PERF_EF_UPDATE, because the only code paths to do so are from event overflow, and Intel PT does not do that. However the introduction of group throttling by commit 9734e25fbf5ae ("perf: Fix the throttle logic for a group") meant that an Intel PT event could be throttled if it was part of a group. Throttling calls PMU ->stop() / ->start() callbacks without flags. An example is when AUX area sampling is used. The following commands hit the issue: echo 10000 > /proc/sys/kernel/perf_event_max_sample_rate perf record -F32000 --aux-sample -e '{intel_pt//u,cycles:u}' \ -- bash -c 'for i in `seq 1 100000` ; do true ; done' Use PERF_HES_UPTODATE to track whether perf_aux_output_begin() and perf_aux_output_end() are balanced. The Tauri updater plugin verifies update binaries using minisign signatures, but the signature covers only the raw binary bytes. The update manifest -- which contains the version number, download URL, and signature -- is fetched over TLS but is never itself signed or authenticated. Because the only anti-rollback check compares the manifest's version field against the current version, and that field is unsigned, an attacker who can serve a crafted manifest can force installation of any older signed release without possessing the developer's private key.

The Tauri updater plugin's 'check' IPC command accepts an allowDowngrades boolean parameter directly from frontend JavaScript code. When set to true, it replaces the version comparator from "update must be newer" to "update must be different." In OpenStack Blazar before 17.0.1, the V2 lease API does not enforce object-level authorization on its update and delete operations (PUT /v2/leases/{lease_id} and DELETE /v2/leases/{lease_id}). The policy authorize() wrapper attempts to load the target lease to build the authorization target from its owner, but it looks up the lease under the keyword "lease_id" whereas the controller methods name the parameter "id" (and the wsme_pecan.wsexpose wrapper delivers it positionally). The lookup returns None, and thus authorization falls back to the requesting user's own project_id/user_id instead of the target lease owner. Any authenticated user who knows a lease ID can therefore modify or delete leases belonging to other users and projects, bypassing the intended ownership check.

uniget is a universal installer and updater for (container) tools. Prior to 0.27.6, the hooks edit command in cmd/uniget/hooks.go concatenates an unvalidated hook filename with the selected hooks directory, allowing parent-directory components to escape that directory. The resulting path is passed to the configured editor, which can access or modify files outside the hooks directory with the privileges of the uniget process account. Sep 17, 2026uniget is a universal installer and updater for (container) tools.CVE-2026-55061 · Other software · uniget-org · reported by GitHubLow 1
uniget is a universal installer and updater for (container) tools. Prior to 0.27.6, the hooks edit command in cmd/uniget/hooks.go parses UNIGET_EDITOR or EDITOR with strings.Split(editor, " ") and passes every space-delimited suffix as an argument to the selected editor executable. An attacker who can influence the editor environment and cause hook editing can supply unexpected editor arguments, potentially causing unintended actions with the privileges of the uniget process account. Go os/exec does not evaluate shell operators in these arguments, so the advisory's wrapper demonstration establishes argument delivery but does not establish shell command interpretation. This issue is fixed in version 0.27.6.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: batman-adv: dat: atomically update mac addresses When a MAC address is updated in batadv_dat_entry_add(), it is done using a simple copy function. A parallel reader might only see parts of this update. In worst case, the reader is transporting the half updated MAC address over the network or is creating an ARP response using it - poisoning the ARP cache. atomic64_t can be used to store the 48 bit of a mac address. A reader will then either see the old mac address or the new one - never a mixture of both.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: firmware: arm_scmi: Avoid IDR updates while cleaning channels scmi_cleanup_channels() walks the TX/RX channel IDRs with idr_for_each() to free transport resources and destroy the dedicated transport devices before calling idr_destroy(). The destroy callback removed each entry from the same IDR being walked. That is not needed for this cleanup path, and it is unsafe because idr_for_each() has not advanced its radix-tree iterator while the callback is running. Removing the current entry from the callback can invalidate the iterator state. The callback also cannot be protected by rcu_read_lock(), because scmi_device_destroy() may sleep. Leave IDR teardown to the following idr_destroy() call and keep the callback limited to device destruction.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dmaengine: dw-edma: Serialize channel state checks pause() and resume() read and update channel state without holding vc.lock, while the interrupt handlers update the same state under it. Take the same lock around those state checks so that request, status, and configured stay consistent. For example, pause() can observe EDMA_ST_BUSY right before the interrupt handler completes the final descriptor and moves the channel to EDMA_ST_IDLE, and then record EDMA_REQ_PAUSE on an already idle channel. No further interrupt will acknowledge the request, and since issue_pending() requires EDMA_REQ_NONE, the channel is wedged for good: terminate_all() leaves the stale request behind, so even reconfiguring the channel does not recover it. issue_pending() already runs under vc.lock, but it tests configured before taking it. Move that test under the lock as well, so configured, request, and status are evaluated as one channel-state snapshot.

Sep 17, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: liveupdate: Remember FLB retrieve() status LUO keeps track of successful retrieve attemptsCVE-2026-92483 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: liveupdate: Remember FLB retrieve() status LUO keeps track of successful retrieve attempts on an FLB. It does so to avoid multiple retrievals of the same FLB. Multiple retrievals cause problems because once the FLB is retrieved, the serialized data structures are likely freed and the FLB is likely in a very different state from what the code expects. All this works well when retrieve succeeds. When it fails, luo_flb_retrieve_one() returns the error immediately, without ever storing anywhere that a retrieve was attempted or what its error code was. If the user attempts to retrieve another file registered with the same FLB, LUO will attempt to call the FLB's retrieve() callback again. The retry is problematic for much of the same reasons listed above. The FLB is likely in a very different state than what the retrieve logic normally expects (e.g. some KHO pages may have already been restored and freed). There is no sane way of attempting the retrieve again. Remember the error retrieve returned and directly return it on a retry. This is done by changing the retrieved bool to a retrieve_status integer. A value of

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Fix potential UAF in bpf_netns_link_update_prog In bpf_netns_link_update_prog, the checks for old_prog and prog type are currently performed locklessly before acquiring netns_bpf_mutex. This creates a race condition that can lead to a UAF issue. If two threads concurrently execute BPF_LINK_UPDATE on the same netns link, the following execution path can trigger a UAF: CPU0 CPU1 bpf_netns_link_update_prog if (old_prog && old_prog != link->prog) return -EPERM; bpf_netns_link_update_prog if (old_prog && old_prog != link->prog) ... old_prog = xchg(&link->prog, new_prog); bpf_prog_put(old_prog); if (new_prog->type != link->prog->type) <-- trigger UAF Fix this by moving the old_prog and prog->type checks inside the netns_bpf_mutex critical section. Meanwhile, use guard() to simplify lock management and avoid all the goto jumping.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: null_blk: serialize configfs attribute updates with device setup The attribute store methods generated with NULLB_DEVICE_ATTR() refuse to change the configuration of a live device by testing NULLB_DEV_FL_CONFIGURED, but that flag is only set by nullb_device_power_store() after null_add_dev() has returned, and the store methods take no lock at all. configfs only serializes writes to the same open file (buffer->mutex), so a write to any attribute can run concurrently with null_add_dev() and change the device configuration while it is being used. null_add_dev() reads the configuration several times, e.g. dev->zoned is read once to set up the queue limits and once to initialize the zone resources: CPU0: echo 1 > nullb0/power CPU1: echo 1 > nullb0/zoned nullb_device_power_store() mutex_lock(&lock) null_add_dev() if (dev->zoned) -> false /* no BLK_FEAT_ZONED */ nullb_device_zoned_store() test_bit(FL_CONFIGURED) -> 0 dev->zoned = true blk_mq_alloc_disk() /* queue is not zoned */ i

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf, xdp: move offload check into dev_xdp_install() bpf_xdp_link_update() calls dev_xdp_install() directly and skips dev_xdp_attach(), so the checks in dev_xdp_attach() do not run. A user can make an XDP link with a normal program and then swap in an offloaded or device-bound program with BPF_LINK_UPDATE, which puts it on the software path. dev_xdp_install() is the one place all three paths go through: "ip link set xdp" and BPF_LINK_CREATE reach it via dev_xdp_attach(), and BPF_LINK_UPDATE calls it directly. So move the program checks (offloaded, bound to another device, device-bound in generic mode, native vs generic, DEVMAP and CPUMAP) there, and keep only the netlink-flag check (XDP_FLAGS_UPDATE_IF_NOEXIST) in dev_xdp_attach().

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ntfs: validate usa_ofs before preserving the update sequence number When ntfs_mft_record_alloc() reuses a free mft record it reads the old update sequence number straight from the on-disk record: usn = *(__le16 *)((u8 *)m + le16_to_cpu(m->usa_ofs)); Here m points into the raw $MFT page-cache folio, which still holds unvalidated, MST-protected bytes: the folio is read by a plain iomap_read_folio() and neither post_read_mst_fixup() nor ntfs_mft_record_check() has run on it (both work on private copies). m->usa_ofs is therefore an untrusted u16, and a corrupted record can put it past the end of the record so the two-byte read lands outside the folio. Reading such a record while creating a file gives, under KASAN: BUG: KASAN: use-after-free in ntfs_mft_record_alloc+... Read of size 2 at addr ... ntfs_mft_record_alloc -> __ntfs_create -> ntfs_create -> path_openat Only preserve the old update sequence number when usa_ofs is even and in range, mirroring the check ntfs_mft_record_check() already applies; otherwise leave usn zero, which the existing restore below skips.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netdevsim: update queue NAPI association on queue reset In netdevsim, receive queues (struct nsim_rq) embed their own struct napi_struct. When queue reset is performed (e.g. via queue_reset debugfs), nsim_queue_start() swaps in a newly allocated struct nsim_rq, and nsim_queue_mem_free() later deletes and frees the old one. However, nsim_queue_start() failed to update the queue-to-NAPI mapping via netif_queue_set_napi(). As a result, dev->_rx[idx].napi continued to point to the old NAPI struct. After the old queue was freed, a subsequent queue dump via Netlink (NETDEV_CMD_QUEUE_GET) triggered a KASAN slab-use-after-free read in nla_put_napi_id() when accessing rxq->napi->napi_id. Fix this by calling netif_queue_set_napi() in nsim_queue_start() to associate the new NAPI with the RX queue, and clear the association with netif_queue_set_napi(..., NULL) in nsim_del_napi() during teardown.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/rds: use wq_has_sleeper() in rds_cong_map_updated() rds_cong_map_updated() runs after a peer's congestion map has been rewritten (by rds_tcp_cong_recv() and rds_ib_cong_recv(), or the clear-all in the loopback and IB send-completion paths). It bumps rds_cong_generation and then checks waitqueue_active() on map->m_waitq and on rds_poll_waitq to decide whether anyone needs waking. atomic_inc() carries no ordering and waitqueue_active() is a plain load, so nothing orders the map and generation stores before the wait queue reads. The waiters do the mirror image: rds_cong_wait() adds itself to m_waitq and then tests the port bit, and rds_poll() registers on rds_poll_waitq and then reads the generation. That is the store-buffering pattern described above waitqueue_active() in include/linux/wait.h - the updater can observe an empty wait queue while the waiter still observes the port as congested, and no wake-up is issued. rds_cong_wait() is an interruptible sleep with no timeout, so a sender blocked on a congested port stays blocked until the next congestion update from that peer arrives or a signal is delivere

Apache NiFi 2.9.0 through 2.11.0 provide Connector configuration update and verification REST API methods that do not enforce authorization checking on Assets and Secrets referenced in proposed configuration. Updating or verifying a Connector configuration step can apply Asset and Secret references, but framework authorization was limited to write privileges on the Connector itself. As a result of the missing authorization, an authenticated user authorized to modify a Connector, but not authorized to read a referenced Parameter Provider, could apply Secret values backed by that Parameter Provider. The same methods also accepted Asset identifiers without verifying that the Asset belonged to the Connector being configured. Apache NiFi installations that do not implement different levels of authorization across Connectors and Parameter Providers are not subject to this vulnerability, because the framework enforces write permissions on the Connector as the security boundary. Upgrading to Apache NiFi 2.12.0 is the recommended mitigation, which authorizes read access to referenced Parameter Providers and verifies Connector ownership of referenced Assets during configuration update and ve
