The Apify MCP server enables AI agents to extract data from websites using ready-made scrapers, crawlers, and automation tools available on the Apify Store. Prior to 0.9.21, the fetch-apify-docs tool in src/tools/common/fetch_apify_docs.ts validates allowlisted documentation domains with String.startsWith() rather than URL hostname comparison, allowing attacker-controlled URLs such as `https://docs.apify.com.evil.com/` and `https://docs.apify.com@evil.com/` to pass the ALLOWED_DOC_DOMAINS check and return arbitrary fetched content to the LLM. • Jul 14, 2026The decompress package for Node.js extracts archives.CVE-2026-53486 · Other software · XhmikosR · reported by GitHubCritical 9.1

The decompress package for Node.js extracts archives. Prior to 10.2.1 and 11.1.3, archive extraction can create files and links outside the target directory. When extracting an archive to a directory, a crafted archive can read or write files outside that directory because hardlink and symlink entries are created without checking where targets point, path containment used a string prefix comparison, and file modes failed to remove setuid, setgid, or sticky bits. This issue is fixed in @xhmikosr/decompress versions 10.2.1 and 11.1.3.

  • Jul 9, 2026decompress before 4.2.2 allows arbitrary symlink creation during archive extraction.CVE-2026-39246 · Other software · Decompress Project · reported by MITREHigh 7.5

decompress before 4.2.2 allows arbitrary symlink creation during archive extraction. When processing symlink entries (type === 'symlink'), the x.linkname field from the archive is passed directly to fs.symlink() without validation (index.js line 121). The preventWritingThroughSymlink check on line 98 only applies to file entries, not symlink creation. An attacker can craft an archive with symlink entries pointing to sensitive files outside the extraction directory (e.g., /etc/passwd), enabling information disclosure when the application reads the extracted contents.

decompress before 4.2.2 allows arbitrary hardlink creation during archive extraction, enabling file read disclosure and file corruption. When processing hardlink entries (type === 'link'), the x.linkname field from the archive is passed directly to fs.link() without validation (index.js line 113). An attacker can craft an archive with a hardlink entry whose linkname is an absolute path to any file on the same filesystem. This creates a hardlink inside the extraction directory that shares the same inode as the target file, enabling both reading and overwriting the original file's content. Hardlinks are limited to files on the same filesystem and cannot target directories.

BBOT's unarchive module rejects archives containing symlink entries before extraction, but for zip and 7z archives it failed to detect symlinks whose listing carries a DOS-attribute prefix before the unix mode, as produced by legacy versions of p7zip. Such an archive, downloaded and extracted during a scan (for example via filedownload), bypassed the guard and caused an attacker-controlled symlink to be written into the extraction directory. The effect is limited to planting the symlink (its target is not written through), and only hosts using such a legacy p7zip build are affected; current mainline 7-Zip is not.

SzafirHost verifies the downloaded native library archive with one JarFile parser (reading the Central Directory) but extracts native libraries with JarInputStream parser (reading sequentially from local file headers). An attacker who controls the served archive can insert a malicious DLL/SO/DYLIB as a local-file-header entry between the last legitimate entry and the Central Directory, without adding it to the Central Directory. The signature verifier never sees the injected entry and accepts the archive as validly signed; the extractor reads it sequentially and writes the attacker library to the native temp directory with no hash check), while the archive-size check still passes. The /v1/upload/sbom endpoint extracts the iss claim from the attacker-supplied JWT with signature verification disabled, then interpolates that string into three log statements before any validation gate. Because the configured log format ("%(asctime)s - %(name)s - %(levelname)s - %(message)s") renders newlines literally, an unauthenticated attacker can forge log records that are byte-for-byte indistinguishable from PIA's genuine "Successfully authenticated project" message. PIA is an authentication broker whose logs are explicitly relied upon for incident response (DESIGN.md §5.4 lists "Token verifications" and "Errors" as events to log), so the ability to plant fake auth-success entries directly undermines the audit trail the service exists to produce.

7-Zip for Windows through 26.01 fails to preserve the Mark-of-the-Web when extracting a crafted RAR5 archive, because its guard that suppresses an archive-supplied Zone.Identifier stream matches the exact name 'Zone.Identifier' while a RAR5 STM record named ':Zone.Identifier:$DATA' is not matched and NTFS canonicalizes it to the same stream, overwriting the propagated Internet-zone marker with ZoneId=0. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: rxrpc: Fix the ACK parser to extract the SACK table for parsing Fix modification of the received skbuff in rxrpc_input_soft_acks() and a potential incorrect access of the buffer in a fragmented UDP packet (the packet would probably have to be deliberately pre-generated as fragmented) when AF_RXRPC tries to extract the contents of the SACK table by copying out the contents of the SACK table into a buffer before attempting to parse AF_RXRPC assumes that it can just call skb_condense() and then validly access the SACK table from skb->data and that it will be a flat buffer - but skb_condense() can silently fail to do anything under some circumstances. Note that whilst rxrpc_input_soft_acks() should be able to parse extended ACKs, the rest of AF_RXRPC doesn't currently support that. Further, there's then no need to call skb_condense() in rxrpc_input_ack(), so don't.

  • Jun 24, 2026Faraday is an HTTP client library abstraction layer that provides a common interface over many adapters.CVE-2026-54297 · Other software · lostisland · reported by GitHubHigh 7.5

Faraday is an HTTP client library abstraction layer that provides a common interface over many adapters. From 1.0.0 until 1.10.6 and 2.14.3, Faraday::NestedParamsEncoder, the default nested query parameter encoder/decoder in Faraday, decodes nested query strings without enforcing a maximum nesting depth. A crafted query string causes Faraday to build a deeply nested Ruby Hash structure. The internal dehash routine then recursively walks this attacker-controlled structure without a depth limit. At sufficient depth, Ruby raises an uncaught SystemStackError (stack level too deep), crashing the calling thread or worker. This can lead to denial of service in applications that pass attacker-controlled query strings to Faraday's nested query parsing or URL-building paths. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.10.6 and 2.14.3.

  • Jun 23, 2026tarfile.extractall() with the 'data' or 'tar' filter could be bypassed by a crafted archive where a hardlink references a symlink stored at a deeper name thanCVE-2026-11940 · Other software · Python Software Foundation · reported by cna@python.orgHigh 7.8

tarfile.extractall() with the 'data' or 'tar' filter could be bypassed by a crafted archive where a hardlink references a symlink stored at a deeper name than the hardlink itself.  The extraction fallback validated the symlink at it's archived location but recreated it at the hardlink's shallower path, letting a relative target the filter judged contained escape the destination directory.  This allowed a malicious tar archive to create a symlink pointing outside the destination, enabling out-of-destination file reads or writes. This was an incomplete fix of CVE-2025-4330.

Steeltoe is an open source project that provides a collection of libraries that helps users build cloud-native applications. In Steeltoe.Configuration.Abstractions 4.0.0 through 4.1.0, when MySQL or PostgreSQL service bindings from `VCAP_SERVICES` include TLS client credentials, the Connectors library writes those credentials to temporary files in `Path.GetTempPath()` using `File.CreateText`. On Linux, `File.CreateText` creates files with mode `0644` (world-readable) under the process umask, and the files are never deleted. The same key material is protected at mode `0400` in `/proc/<pid>/environ`. Steeltoe.Configuration.Abstractions version 4.2.0 patches the issue. If an immediate upgrade is not possible, prevent other processes from running in the container under a different UID with access to `/tmp`.

  • Jun 12, 2026jmespath.php allows users to use JMESPath, software for declaratively specifying how to extract elements from a JSON document, in PHP applications with PHP dataCVE-2026-54133 · Other software · jmespath · reported by GitHubCritical 9.8

jmespath.php allows users to use JMESPath, software for declaratively specifying how to extract elements from a JSON document, in PHP applications with PHP data structures. Versions prior to 2.9.1 can generate and execute attacker-controlled PHP code when `JmesPath\CompilerRuntime` is used with an attacker-controlled JMESPath expression. The compiler emits parsed JMESPath function names into generated PHP source without sufficient escaping. A crafted expression can cause the generated cache file to contain executable attacker-controlled PHP, which is then loaded by the compiler runtime. The issue is patched in `2.9.1` and later. As a workaround, disable `JP_PHP_COMPILE` and do not use `JmesPath\CompilerRuntime` with attacker-controlled expressions. Use the default `AstRuntime` for untrusted expressions. Applications that must continue accepting untrusted JMESPath expressions before upgrading should ensure those expressions are never evaluated by the compiler runtime.

  • Jun 11, 2026Keras versions prior to 3.14.0 are vulnerable to a path traversal issue in the archive extraction utilities located in `keras/src/utils/file_utils.py`.CVE-2026-11816 · Other software · keras-team · reported by security@huntr.devHigh 8.1

Keras versions prior to 3.14.0 are vulnerable to a path traversal issue in the archive extraction utilities located in `keras/src/utils/file_utils.py`. The functions `filter_safe_tarinfos()` and `filter_safe_zipinfos()` validate archive member paths against the process current working directory (CWD) instead of the actual extraction destination. When the process runs with CWD set to `/`, which is common in Docker containers, CI/CD runners, and Jupyter environments, the validation boundary becomes the filesystem root, allowing traversal paths to bypass the security check. Additionally, the zip filter contains a bug that causes an `AttributeError` when a blocked entry is encountered, leading to incomplete extraction. Furthermore, Python 3.11 installations lack the `filter="data"` safety net, leaving them entirely reliant on the flawed CWD-based filter. Exploitation of this vulnerability can result in arbitrary file writes outside the intended extraction directory, enabling attackers to overwrite configuration files, inject malicious code, or corrupt machine learning datasets and pipelines.
