Aug 17, 2020An information disclosure vulnerability exists when Microsoft Word improperly discloses the contents of its memory.CVE-2020-1503 · Email & office · Microsoft · reported by secure@microsoft.comMedium 5.5
An information disclosure vulnerability exists when Microsoft Word improperly discloses the contents of its memory. An attacker who exploited the vulnerability could use the information to compromise the user’s computer or data. To exploit the vulnerability, an attacker could craft a special document file and then convince the user to open it. An attacker must know the memory address location where the object was created. The update addresses the vulnerability by changing the way certain Word functions handle objects in memory.

Aug 17, 2020A spoofing vulnerability exists when Microsoft SharePoint Server does not properly sanitize a specially crafted web request to an affected SharePoint server.CVE-2020-1501 · Email & office · Microsoft · reported by secure@microsoft.comMedium 5.4
A spoofing vulnerability exists when Microsoft SharePoint Server does not properly sanitize a specially crafted web request to an affected SharePoint server. An authenticated attacker could exploit the vulnerability by sending a specially crafted request to an affected SharePoint server. The attacker who successfully exploited the vulnerability could then perform cross-site scripting attacks on affected systems and run script in the security context of the current user. These attacks could allow the attacker to read content that the attacker is not authorized to read, use the victim's identity to take actions on the SharePoint site on behalf of the user, such as change permissions and delete content, and inject malicious content in the browser of the user. The security update addresses the vulnerability by helping to ensure that SharePoint Server properly sanitizes web requests.

An information disclosure vulnerability exists where certain modes of the search function in Microsoft SharePoint Server are vulnerable to cross-site search attacks (a variant of cross-site request forgery, CSRF). When users are simultaneously logged in to Microsoft SharePoint Server and visit a malicious web page, the attacker can, through standard browser functionality, induce the browser to invoke search queries as the logged in user. While the attacker can’t access the search results or documents as such, the attacker can determine whether the query did return results or not, and thus by issuing targeted queries discover facts about documents that are searchable for the logged-in user. The security update addresses the vulnerability by running the search queries in a way that doesn’t expose them to this browser vulnerability.

Aug 14, 2019A remote code execution vulnerability exists in Microsoft Word software when it fails to properly handle objects in memory.CVE-2019-1201 · Email & office · Microsoft · reported by secure@microsoft.comHigh 7.8
A remote code execution vulnerability exists in Microsoft Word software when it fails to properly handle objects in memory. An attacker who successfully exploited the vulnerability could use a specially crafted file to perform actions in the security context of the current user. The file could then take actions on behalf of the logged-on user with the same permissions as the current user. To exploit the vulnerability, a user must open a specially crafted file with an affected version of Microsoft Word software. Two possible email attack scenarios exist for this vulnerability: • With the first email attack scenario, an attacker could send a specially crafted email message to the user and wait for the user to click on the message. When the message renders via Microsoft Word in the Outlook Preview Pane, an attack could be triggered. • With the second scenario, an attacker could attach a specially crafted file to an email, send it to a user, and convince them to open it. In a web-based attack scenario, an attacker could host a website (or leverage a compromised website that accepts or hosts user-provided content) that contains a specially crafted file that is designed to exploit the vu
