Nimiq is a Rust implementation of the Nimiq Proof-of-Stake protocol based on the Albatross consensus algorithm. Prior to version 1.5.0, a remote, unauthenticated denial-of-service vulnerability in MerkleRadixTrie::put_chunk allows any state-sync peer to crash any node performing state synchronization (freshly joining nodes and recovering nodes). This issue has been patched in version 1.5.0.

Nimiq is a Rust implementation of the Nimiq Proof-of-Stake protocol based on the Albatross consensus algorithm. Prior to version 1.5.0, a remote peer can crash any full node by sending a RequestBatchSet message containing the genesis block's hash. The handler calls get_epoch_chunks which iterates backwards through macro blocks using Policy::macro_block_before. When it reaches the genesis block number, macro_block_before panics with "No macro blocks before genesis block". This issue has been patched in version 1.5.0.

Nimiq is a Rust implementation of the Nimiq Proof-of-Stake protocol based on the Albatross consensus algorithm. Prior to version 1.4.0, a denial-of-service vulnerability exists in the Ed25519 multisig delinearization code path. Ed25519PublicKey::delinearize() in keys/src/multisig/mod.rs called .unwrap() on curve point decompression, which panics when a public key is constructed from 32 bytes that do not represent a valid point on the Ed25519 curve. Ed25519PublicKey construction only validates byte length, not curve membership, so invalid keys can reach the delinearization path and crash the hosting process. This issue has been patched in version 1.4.0.

Nimiq is a Rust implementation of the Nimiq Proof-of-Stake protocol based on the Albatross consensus algorithm. Prior to version 1.4.0, iIn handle_dht_get(), the DhtResults accumulator is only initialized when the first DHT record passes verification. If the first record fails (from a malicious DHT node), DhtResults is never created, and all subsequent valid records are discarded with "DHT inconsistent state" errors. This issue has been patched in version 1.4.0.

Nimiq is a Rust implementation of the Nimiq Proof-of-Stake protocol based on the Albatross consensus algorithm. Prior to version 1.4.0, when LightBlockchain::rebranch() adopts a fork chain whose tip is a macro block (checkpoint or election), it only updates self.head but fails to update self.macro_head, self.election_head, self.current_validators, or store the election header in the chain_store. This is in direct contrast with the full Blockchain::rebranch() at blockchain/src/blockchain/push.rs:504-518, which correctly updates all macro/election state when the new head is a macro block. After a rebranch to a macro block, the stale macro_head causes subsequent macro blocks pushed via push() to be verified against the wrong predecessor via verify_macro_successor(&this.macro_head). If the rebranch target was an election block, the stale current_validators causes every subsequent block to fail verify_validators(), completely stalling the light client's chain progression. This issue has been patched in version 1.4.0.

Nimiq is a Rust implementation of the Nimiq Proof-of-Stake protocol based on the Albatross consensus algorithm. Prior to version 1.4.0, a logic flaw in BlockInclusionProof::is_block_proven causes the function to return true without performing any cryptographic verification when get_interlink_hops yields an empty hop list. This occurs when the target block is at the election block position immediately preceding the election head's epoch. An attacker providing transaction inclusion proofs can forge a MacroBlock header for that epoch position and have it accepted as "proven" without any hash or signature verification. This issue has been patched in version 1.4.0.

Nimiq is a Rust implementation of the Nimiq Proof-of-Stake protocol based on the Albatross consensus algorithm. network-libp2p handles kad get-record query progress in handle_dht_get (network-libp2p/src/swarm.rs). Prior to version 1.4.0, when a peer returns a FoundRecord, the code verifies the record via dht_verifier.verify(&record.record). On verifier error, handle_dht_get logs and returns early without completing the oneshot used by Network::dht_get, and without cleaning up per-query bookkeeping. Later query progress can hit the "DHT inconsistent state" path and also return without cleanup. Because Network::dht_get awaits the oneshot without a timeout, the caller future can hang indefinitely. This issue has been patched in version 1.4.0.

The Animate Your Content plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's 'animation-set' shortcode in versions up to, and including, 1.0.0. This is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user supplied attributes in the shortcode_args_to_html_attrs() function, which concatenates shortcode attribute values directly into double-quoted HTML attributes without calling esc_attr(). This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.

nimiq-blockchain provides persistent block storage for Nimiq's Rust implementation. In versions 1.3.0 and prior, network-libp2p discovery accepts signed PeerContact updates from untrusted peers and stores them in a peer contact book, eventually leading to address book crash. A PeerContact can legally contain an empty addresses list (no intrinsic validation enforces non-empty). Later, PeerContactBook::known_peers builds an address book by taking addresses.first().expect("every peer should have at least one address"). If the attacker has inserted a signed peer contact with addresses=[], any call to get_address_book (RPC/web client) can panic and crash the node/RPC task depending on panic settings. This issue has been fixed in version 1.4.0.

  • May 20, 2026nimiq-blockchain provides persistent block storage for Nimiq's Rust implementation.CVE-2026-40092 · Other software · nimiq · reported by GitHubHigh 7.5

nimiq-blockchain provides persistent block storage for Nimiq's Rust implementation. In versions 1.3.0 and below, a malicious network peer can crash any Nimiq full node by publishing a crafted Kademlia DHT record. The maliciously crafted record would contain a TaggedSigned<ValidatorRecord, KeyPair> with a signature field whose byte length is not exactly 64 in order to cause a crash. When the victim node's DHT verifier calls TaggedSigned::verify, execution reaches Ed25519Signature::from_bytes(sig).unwrap() in the TaggedPublicKey implementation for Ed25519PublicKey. The from_bytes call fails because ed25519_zebra::Signature::try_from rejects slices not 64 bytes, and the unwrap() panics. The BLS TaggedPublicKey implementation correctly returns false on error; only the Ed25519 implementation panics. This issue has been fixed in version 1.4.0.

OpenImageIO is a toolset for reading, writing, and manipulating image files of any image file format relevant to VFX / animation. Prior to 3.0.18.0 and 3.1.13.0, the bounds check in TGAInput::decode_pixel computes k + palbytespp as unsigned 32-bit arithmetic. When k = 0xFFFFFFFC and palbytespp = 4, the addition wraps to 0, which compares less than palette_alloc_size and passes the check. The subsequent palette access uses the unwrapped k (0xFFFFFFFC) as the index, reading ~4 GB past the start of the palette buffer — SEGV. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.0.18.0 and 3.1.13.0.

OpenImageIO is a toolset for reading, writing, and manipulating image files of any image file format relevant to VFX / animation. Prior to 3.0.18.0 and 3.1.13.0, a signed 32-bit integer overflow in the loop index expression i * 4 inside SwapRGBABytes() causes the function to compute a large negative pointer offset when processing kABGR DPX images with large dimensions. The immediate crash is an out-of-bounds read (the memcpy at line 45 reads from &input[i * 4] first), but the subsequent write operations at lines 46–49 target the same wrapped offset — making this a combined OOB read+write primitive. OpenImageIO is a toolset for reading, writing, and manipulating image files of any image file format relevant to VFX / animation. Prior to 3.0.18.0 and 3.1.13.0, a signed integer overflow in QueryRGBBufferSizeInternal() in DPXColorConverter.cpp leads to a heap-based out-of-bounds write when processing crafted DPX image files. The function computes buffer sizes using 32-bit signed integer arithmetic with negative multipliers (e.g., pixels * -3 * bytes for kCbYCr descriptors and pixels * -4 * bytes for kABGR descriptors), where a negative result is used as an in-band signal that no separate buffer is needed. When the pixel count is sufficiently large, the multiplication overflows INT_MIN and wraps to a small positive value. The caller in dpxinput.cpp interprets this positive value as a required buffer size, allocates an undersized heap buffer via m_decodebuf.resize(), and then writes the full image data into it via fread, resulting in a heap buffer overflow. An attacker can exploit this by crafting a DPX file that triggers the overflow, causing a denial of service (crash) or potentially arbitrary code execution through heap corruption in any application that reads pixel data using Op

  • May 11, 2026Microdot is a minimalistic Python web framework.CVE-2026-42874 · Other software · miguelgrinberg · reported by GitHubLow 3.7

Microdot is a minimalistic Python web framework. Prior to 2.6.1, the Response.set_cookie() method does not sanitize its string arguments, and in particular will not detect the presence of the \r\n sequence in them. This can be a potential source of header injection attacks. For a header injection attack through this issue to be possible, an attacker must first infiltrate the client (for example through an independent XSS attack), so that it can send malicious information that is destined to be stored in a cookie by the server on behalf of the victim. An attacker that infiltrates one client can only orchestrate a header injection attack for that client, all other clients that were not infiltrated are safe. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.6.1.

UltraDAG is a minimal DAG-BFT blockchain in Rust. Prior to commit fb6ef59, the UltraDAG StateEngine implementation of SmartTransferTx contains a critical logic flaw in its policy enforcement pipeline. When a transaction originates from a "Pocket" (a derived sub-address documented in the protocol as a way to organize funds), the engine fails to resolve the pocket's parent account before checking the spending policy. Because pockets are "virtual" addresses that exist only as entries in the pocket_to_parent map and do not have their own SmartAccountConfig entries, the check_spending_policy method defaults to an "authorized/no policy" result. This allow any user (or attacker in possession of a parent key) to instantly drain every pocket on an account, even if the parent account has a strict 24-hour vault delay or a 1 UDAG daily limit. This issue has been patched via commit fb6ef59.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: require minimum ACE size in smb_check_perm_dacl() Both ACE-walk loops in smb_check_perm_dacl() only guard against an under-sized remaining buffer, not against an ACE whose declared `ace->size` is smaller than the struct it claims to describe: if (offsetof(struct smb_ace, access_req) > aces_size) break; ace_size = le16_to_cpu(ace->size); if (ace_size > aces_size) break; The first check only requires the 4-byte ACE header to be in bounds; it does not require access_req (4 bytes at offset 4) to be readable. An attacker who has set a crafted DACL on a file they own can declare ace->size == 4 with aces_size == 4, pass both checks, and then granted |= le32_to_cpu(ace->access_req); /* upper loop */ compare_sids(&sid, &ace->sid); /* lower loop */ reads access_req at offset 4 (OOB by up to 4 bytes) and ace->sid at offset 8 (OOB by up to CIFS_SID_BASE_SIZE + SID_MAX_SUB_AUTHORITIES * 4 bytes). Tighten both loops to require ace_size >= offsetof(struct smb_ace, sid) + CIFS_SID_BASE_SIZE which is the smallest valid on-wire ACE layout (4-byte header +

Insufficient packet validation in FreeRTOS-Plus-TCP before V4.2.6 and V4.4.1 allows an adjacent network actor to bypass all checksum and minimum-size validation by spoofing the Ethernet source MAC address to match one of the device's own registered endpoints, because the loopback detection mechanism skips all input validation for packets whose source MAC matches a local endpoint. To mitigate this issue, users should upgrade to the fixed version when available.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: gadget: f_ncm: validate minimum block_len in ncm_unwrap_ntb() The block_len read from the host-supplied NTB header is checked against ntb_max but has no lower bound. When block_len is smaller than opts->ndp_size, the bounds check of: ndp_index > (block_len - opts->ndp_size) will underflow producing a huge unsigned value that ndp_index can never exceed, defeating the check entirely. The same underflow occurs in the datagram index checks against block_len - opts->dpe_size. With those checks neutered, a malicious USB host can choose ndp_index and datagram offsets that point past the actual transfer, and the skb_put_data() copies adjacent kernel memory into the network skb. Fix this by rejecting block lengths that cannot hold at least the NTB header plus one NDP. This will make block_len - opts->ndp_size and block_len - opts->dpe_size both well-defined. Commit 8d2b1a1ec9f5 ("CDC-NCM: avoid overflow in sanity checking") fixed a related class of issues on the host side of NCM.

  • Apr 22, 2026nimiq-transaction provides the transaction primitive to be used in Nimiq's Rust implementation.CVE-2026-34068 · Other software · nimiq · reported by GitHubMedium 6.8

nimiq-transaction provides the transaction primitive to be used in Nimiq's Rust implementation. Prior to version 1.3.0, the staking contract accepts `UpdateValidator` transactions that set `new_voting_key=Some(...)` while omitting `new_proof_of_knowledge`. this skips the proof-of-knowledge requirement that is needed to prevent BLS rogue-key attacks when public keys are aggregated. Because tendermint macro block justification verification aggregates validator voting keys and verifies a single aggregated BLS signature against that aggregate public key, a rogue-key voting key in the validator set can allow an attacker to forge a quorum-looking justification while only producing a single signature. While the impact is critical, the exploitability is low: The voting keys are fixed for the epoch, so the attacker would need to know the next epoch validator set (chosen through VRF), which is unlikely. The patch for this vulnerability is included as part of v1.3.0. No known workarounds are available.

nimiq-transaction provides the transaction primitive to be used in Nimiq's Rust implementation. Prior to version 1.3.0, `HistoryTreeProof::verify` panics on a malformed proof where `history.len() != positions.len()` due to `assert_eq!(history.len(), positions.len())`. The proof object is derived from untrusted p2p responses (`ResponseTransactionsProof.proof`) and is therefore attacker-controlled at the network boundary until validated. • Apr 22, 2026nimiq-blockchain provides persistent block storage for Nimiq's Rust implementation.CVE-2026-34066 · Other software · nimiq · reported by GitHubMedium 5.3

nimiq-blockchain provides persistent block storage for Nimiq's Rust implementation. Prior to version 1.3.0, `HistoryStore::put_historic_txns` uses an `assert!` to enforce invariants about `HistoricTransaction.block_number` (must be within the macro block being pushed and within the same epoch). During history sync, a peer can influence the `history: &[HistoricTransaction]` input passed into `Blockchain::push_history_sync`, and a malformed history list can violate these invariants and trigger a panic. `extend_history_sync` calls `this.history_store.add_to_history(..)` before comparing the computed history root against the macro block header (`block.history_root()`), so the panic can happen before later rejection checks run. nimiq-primitives contains primitives (e.g., block, account, transaction) to be used in Nimiq's Rust implementation. Prior to version 1.3.0, an untrusted p2p peer can cause a node to panic by announcing an election macro block whose `validators` set contains an invalid compressed BLS voting key. nimiq-account contains account primitives to be used in Nimiq's Rust implementation. Prior to version 1.3.0, `VestingContract::can_change_balance` returns `AccountError::InsufficientFunds` when `new_balance < min_cap`, but it constructs the error using `balance: self.balance - min_cap`. `Coin::sub` panics on underflow, so if an attacker can reach a state where `min_cap > balance`, the node crashes while trying to return an error. The `min_cap > balance` precondition is attacker-reachable because the vesting contract creation data (32-byte format) allows encoding `total_amount` without validating `total_amount <= transaction.value` (the real contract balance). After creating such a vesting contract, the attacker can broadcast an outgoing transaction to trigger the panic during mempool admission and block processing. Nimiq's network-libp2p is a Nimiq network implementation based on libp2p. Prior to version 1.3.0, `network-libp2p` discovery uses a libp2p `ConnectionHandler` state machine. the handler assumes there is at most one inbound and one outbound discovery substream per connection. if a remote peer opens/negotiate the discovery protocol substream a second time on the same connection, the handler hits a `panic!(\"Inbound already connected\")` / `panic!(\"Outbound already connected\")` path instead of failing closed. This causes a remote crash of the networking task (swarm), taking the node's p2p networking offline until restart. The patch for this vulnerability is formally released as part of v1.3.0. nimiq-block contains block primitives to be used in Nimiq's Rust implementation. `SkipBlockProof::verify` computes its quorum check using `BitSet.len()`, then iterates `BitSet` indices and casts each `usize` index to `u16` (`slot as u16`) for slot lookup. Prior to version 1.3.0, if an attacker can get a `SkipBlockProof` verified where `MultiSignature.signers` contains out-of-range indices spaced by 65536, these indices inflate `len()` but collide onto the same in-range `u16` slot during aggregation. This makes it possible for a malicious validator with far fewer than `2f+1` real signer slots to pass skip block proof verification by multiplying a single BLS signature by the same factor. The patch for this vulnerability is included as part of v1.3.0. No known workarounds are available.

The GreenShift - Animation and Page Builder Blocks plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting in versions up to, and including, 12.8.9 This is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping in the gspb_greenShift_block_script_assets() function. The function uses str_replace() to insert 'fetchpriority="high"' before 'src=' attributes when processing greenshift-blocks/image blocks with the disablelazy attribute enabled. Because this replacement operates on the entire HTML string without parsing, contributors can inject the string 'src=' into HTML attribute values (such as class attributes). When the str_replace executes, the double quotes in the replacement string break out of the attribute context, allowing injection of malicious HTML attributes like onfocus with JavaScript payloads. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
