In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: gpio: cdev: make sure the cdev fd is still active before emitting events With the final call to fput() on a file descriptor, the release action may be deferred and scheduled on a work queue. The reference count of that descriptor is still zero and it must not be used. It's possible that a GPIO change, we want to notify the user-space about, happens AFTER the reference count on the file descriptor associated with the character device went down to zero but BEFORE the .release() callback was called from the workqueue and so BEFORE we unregistered from the notifier. Using the regular get_file() routine in this situation triggers the following warning: struct file::f_count incremented from zero; use-after-free condition present! So use the get_file_active() variant that will return NULL on file descriptors that have been or are being released.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fs: udf: fix OOB read in lengthAllocDescs handling When parsing Allocation Extent Descriptor, lengthAllocDescs comes from on-disk data and must be validated against the block size. Crafted or corrupted images may set lengthAllocDescs so that the total descriptor length (sizeof(allocExtDesc) + lengthAllocDescs) exceeds the buffer, leading udf_update_tag() to call crc_itu_t() on out-of-bounds memory and trigger a KASAN use-after-free read. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: gadget: f_hid: fix f_hidg lifetime vs cdev The embedded struct cdev does not have its lifetime correctly tied to the enclosing struct f_hidg, so there is a use-after-free if /dev/hidgN is held open while the gadget is deleted. This can readily be replicated with libusbgx's example programs (for conciseness - operating directly via configfs is equivalent): gadget-hid exec 3<> /dev/hidg0 gadget-vid-pid-remove exec 3<&- Pull the existing device up in to struct f_hidg and make use of the cdev_device_{add,del}() helpers. This changes the lifetime of the device object to match struct f_hidg, but note that it is still added and deleted at the same time.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: gpiolib: cdev: fix NULL-pointer dereferences There are several places where we can crash the kernel by requesting lines, unbinding the GPIO device, then calling any of the system calls relevant to the GPIO character device's annonymous file descriptors: ioctl(), read(), poll(). While I observed it with the GPIO simulator, it will also happen for any of the GPIO devices that can be hot-unplugged - for instance any HID GPIO expander (e.g. CP2112). This affects both v1 and v2 uAPI. This fixes it partially by checking if gdev->chip is not NULL but it doesn't entirely remedy the situation as we still have a race condition in which another thread can remove the device after the check.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drivers/rapidio/rio_cm.c: prevent possible heap overwrite In riocm_cdev_ioctl(RIO_CM_CHAN_SEND) -> cm_chan_msg_send() -> riocm_ch_send() cm_chan_msg_send() checks that userspace didn't send too much data but riocm_ch_send() failed to check that userspace sent sufficient data. The result is that riocm_ch_send() can write to fields in the rio_ch_chan_hdr which were outside the bounds of the space which cm_chan_msg_send() allocated. Address this by teaching riocm_ch_send() to check that the entire rio_ch_chan_hdr was copied in from userspace.
