  • Oct 18, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: writeback: bound cleanup_offline_cgwb() rescans by rotating scanned inodes cleanup_offlineCVE-2026-98538 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: writeback: bound cleanup_offline_cgwb() rescans by rotating scanned inodes cleanup_offline_cgwb() prepares at most WB_MAX_INODES_PER_ISW inodes per call and is called again until the dying wb is drained, but every call walks wb->b_attached and then wb->b_dirty_time from the same end. Inodes already prepared (they stay on the list with I_WB_SWITCH set until the switch worker runs) and inodes that cannot be switched (I_FREEING, I_WILL_FREE, !SB_ACTIVE, DAX, already on the target wb) stay where they are, so each pass rescans a growing run of them under wb->list_lock and a full drain is quadratic in the number of inodes on the list. With ~17M inodes attached to one dying cgwb we saw this end in soft lockups, with CPUs reported stuck for 21-48s. Walk both lists from the oldest end and move every scanned inode to the newest end, so the next pass starts where the previous one stopped and the drain becomes linear. b_attached is unordered, so nobody sees the reorder there. b_dirty_time is ordered by dirtied_when, but the oldest unscanned inode stays at the end move_expired_inodes() picks from, sync takes the whole list r

  • Oct 18, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fsl/fman: Fix clk reference leak in read_dts_node() of_clk_get() returns a clock with its CVE-2026-98535 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fsl/fman: Fix clk reference leak in read_dts_node() of_clk_get() returns a clock with its reference count incremented, but read_dts_node() only uses it to read the rate and never calls clk_put(). The clock is not stored anywhere, so the reference cannot be released later either. Release the clock once its rate has been read, which also covers the error path taken when the rate is zero.

  • Oct 18, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: use finish_no_open() for non-regular inodes An O_CREAT open can find an existCVE-2026-98451 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 8.8

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: use finish_no_open() for non-regular inodes An O_CREAT open can find an existing symlink or another non-regular inode. cifs_atomic_open() calls finish_open() on it and attaches a cifsFileInfo. Symlink inodes have no CIFS release operation, so the dentry reference held by cifsFileInfo is leaked. FMODE_OPENED also prevents the VFS from following the symlink. Track whether cifs_do_create() returned an open server handle. For non-regular inodes, close the handle if present, remove the pending open, and call finish_no_open() so the VFS can continue the lookup. Do not set FMODE_CREATED unless a regular file was opened. For O_NOFOLLOW with __O_REGULAR, return -ELOOP before the VFS's -EFTYPE check. Defer closing a legacy POSIX handle on a non-regular inode until after inode lookup. This avoids closing it again if lookup fails.

undici is an HTTP client library for Node.js. In versions 7.15.0 through 7.30.0 and 8.0.0 through 8.12.1, its decompress interceptor forwards decompressed response data to the downstream handler from zlib stream event callbacks without catching exceptions those callbacks may throw, and while undici's engine converts a synchronous throw from a downstream handler into a per-request failure, that protection is absent when the throw happens asynchronously from a zlib callback. As a result, a downstream handler that throws by design, such as the built-in dump interceptor which throws when a response exceeds its configured maximum size, escapes as an uncaught exception that terminates the Node.js process. A malicious or compromised HTTP server can crash any client that composes the decompress interceptor with such a handler by returning a small compressed body that decompresses to more than the configured limit, so only the decompressed size matters and the bytes on the wire stay tiny. The issue is fixed in undici 7.30.1 and 8.12.2, and users should upgrade to one of those versions or later. As a workaround, avoid composing the decompress interceptor with a response handler that throws d

undici is an HTTP client library for Node.js. In versions 4.2.1 through 6.29.0, 7.0.0 through 7.30.0, and 8.0.0 through 8.12.1, the client process crashes when a TLS 1.2 server renegotiates after the connection is established and presents a different, CA-trusted certificate whose hostname does not match the requested host. Node.js re-runs hostname verification on the renegotiated handshake and destroys the socket with a certificate-altname error, but undici's established-socket error handler asserted that this error code could never occur, so the peer-controlled error became an uncaught assertion that terminates the Node.js process, affecting both the HTTP/1.1 and HTTP/2 paths. A malicious or compromised HTTPS endpoint reached through undici or the global fetch() can crash the client with a single server-initiated renegotiation, taking down all in-flight requests and background work in the process, and exploitation needs no CA compromise because the attacker controls the endpoint and can present two ordinary valid certificates. Only TLS 1.2 is affected, since TLS 1.3 does not support renegotiation. The issue is fixed in undici 6.29.1, 7.30.1, and 8.12.2, and users should upgrade to

undici is an HTTP client library for Node.js. In versions 5.15.0 through 6.29.0, 7.0.0 through 7.30.0, and 8.0.0 through 8.12.1, its WebSocket client, including the bundled WebSocket exposed by Node.js, can be driven to exhaust process memory by a malicious or compromised WebSocket server. For every PING frame received, the client automatically writes a PONG response and ignores the backpressure signal from the socket write, so a server that streams small PING frames while never reading the client's PONGs makes the outbound write queue and heap grow without bound until the Node.js process runs out of memory and terminates. The attack is remote and unauthenticated, needs only a normal WebSocket connection, and is asymmetric, since small inbound PINGs produce a much larger retained outbound queue, with availability the only impact. The issue is fixed in undici 6.29.1, 7.30.1, and 8.12.2, which pause WebSocket frame parsing when the automatic PONG response hits socket backpressure and resume on drain, bounding the outbound queue, and users should upgrade to one of those versions or later. There is no workaround.

undici is an HTTP client library for Node.js. In versions 6.5.0 through 6.29.0, 7.0.0 through 7.30.0, and 8.0.0 through 8.12.1, its EventSource client can be driven to exhaust process memory by a malicious or compromised Server-Sent Events peer. By sending millions of tiny completed data fields with no blank event separator, or a single unfinished line split across many chunks, the parser retains a growing amount of per-field and per-chunk state that the byte-based maxEventSize and maxResponseSize limits do not bound, and because maxResponseSize is enforced on the compressed body before decompression, a small compressed response can expand into enough retained memory to terminate the process. An application only needs to maintain an EventSource connection to an untrusted peer, which controls only the response, and availability is the only impact. The issue is fixed in undici 6.29.1, 7.30.1, and 8.12.2, which bound the retained parser state independently of the byte limits, and users should upgrade to one of those versions or later. There is no workaround.

undici is an HTTP client library for Node.js. In versions 6.23.0 through 6.29.0, 7.18.0 through 7.30.0, and 8.0.0 through 8.12.1, its fetch() implementation crashes the Node.js process when a malicious server returns a response with more than five content codings and closes the connection before sending the body. undici rejects such responses because of a content-encoding limit, but it created the internal response stream before that check and returned without attaching an error listener or aborting the request, so the early close surfaces a content-length mismatch on the orphaned stream, which Node.js treats as an unhandled error and terminates the process. A remote, unauthenticated server can trigger this with a single response, even when the application correctly catches the fetch() rejection, resulting in a denial of service. The issue is fixed in undici 6.29.1, 7.30.1, and 8.12.2, and users should upgrade to one of those versions or later. There is no workaround.

undici is an HTTP client library for Node.js. In versions 7.15.0 through 7.30.0 and 8.0.0 through 8.12.1, its fetch() implementation verifies Subresource Integrity metadata by matching the algorithm token against a lowercase-only set, even though the SRI specification defines the token by its ASCII-lowercase form, so a valid but non-lowercase token such as an uppercase or mixed-case SHA256 is treated as unknown and skipped. When no recognized algorithm remains, undici treats the integrity list as empty and accepts the response, so a server returning a body that does not match the pinned digest passes the check. An attacker who controls only the response body can therefore deliver attacker-controlled bytes to an application that pinned a valid uppercase or mixed-case SRI token, with no integrity error, affecting response integrity only. The issue is fixed in undici 7.30.1 and 8.12.2, which normalize the algorithm token to ASCII lowercase before validation, and users should upgrade to one of those versions or later. As a workaround, use lowercase algorithm tokens such as sha256, sha384, or sha512 in integrity metadata.

undici is an HTTP client library for Node.js. In versions 7.0.0 through 7.30.0 and 8.0.0 through 8.12.1, when an originless Agent composes the redirect and cache interceptors in that order with a shared cache store, the cache builds its key from the original request URL before the redirect handler changes the origin, so a response produced after a cross-origin redirect is stored under the original key. An attacker who controls the target of a redirect from a trusted URL can have their response cached under that trusted URL and served to later callers, allowing persistent cache poisoning, and the same key confusion lets a private, non-stored redirect response to a user-specific resource be stored under the original URL and served to a later unauthenticated caller, disclosing private data. Applications are affected only when an originless Agent, a shared cache store, and the redirect-then-cache composition are all used. The issue is fixed in undici 7.30.1 and 8.12.2, which verify the producing origin still matches the cache key and preserve each redirect hop's cache-control policy before storing, and users should upgrade to one of those versions or later. undici is an HTTP client library for Node.js. In versions 4.0.0 through 6.29.0, 7.0.0 through 7.30.0, and 8.0.0 through 8.12.1, its Agent dispatcher passes its constructor options through a JSON-based deep clone before forwarding them to each per-origin pool, and because JSON cannot represent functions, a caller-supplied tls option containing a checkServerIdentity callback is silently dropped before it reaches the TLS layer. As a result, a TLS peer whose certificate a custom checkServerIdentity was written to reject, but which passes Node's default hostname and chain checks, is silently accepted. Because Agent is the default dispatcher behind request, fetch, and setGlobalDispatcher, this affects the path most applications use, and EnvHttpProxyAgent is affected on its direct and no-proxy routes as well, while only applications that pass a function-valued tls option such as a custom checkServerIdentity for certificate or public-key pinning are at risk. The issue is fixed in undici 6.29.1, 7.30.1, and 8.12.2, which preserve the tls option outside the JSON clone so custom verification callbacks are forwarded unchanged, and users should upgrade to one of those versions or later. undici is an HTTP client library for Node.js. In versions 8.11.0 and 8.11.1, its experimental WebSocket client, which is enabled by default when HTTP/2 is allowed, mishandles a failed WebSocket handshake over HTTP/2: the request is already marked completed, so the abort becomes a no-op and the underlying HTTP/2 stream is left open with no error listener. When a malicious server then destroys the connection, the orphaned stream emits an unhandled error and the Node.js process exits. A remote, unauthenticated server can therefore crash any client that opens a WebSocket to it over HTTP/2, resulting in a denial of service. The issue is fixed in undici 8.11.2, and users should upgrade to 8.11.2 or later. As a workaround, set allowH2 to false to disable HTTP/2 for WebSocket connections, or avoid opening WebSocket connections to untrusted servers.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: platform/x86: x86-android-tablets: hold device reference for secondary fwnode teardown In gpio_secondary_fwnode_init(), acpi_bus_find_device_by_name() returns a device reference, but the local dev variable is declared with __free(put_device), dropping the reference at the end of each iteration. Meanwhile, devm_add_action_or_reset() saves the dev pointer for gpio_secondary_unset() without incrementing its reference count, which could lead to a use-after-free during driver teardown if the device is released in the interim. Acquire an explicit device reference with get_device() when registering the devres action, and drop it with put_device() inside gpio_secondary_unset().

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: x86/amd_node: Avoid divide by zero on virtualized systems On a virtualized system, the number of nodes does not have a relationship to the number of roots. A Xen PVH dom0 can calculate roots_per_node as 0, which crashes with a divide by zero in: if (count++ % roots_per_node) because the underlying topology code on Xen ends up making num_nodes 2 and num_roots 1 and the integer division result is 0. The issue is seen with Xen, but it could affect other systems. Set roots_per_node to 1 in this case. Print a firmware bug when this is performed for non-virtualized systems. Axios is a promise-based HTTP client for the browser and Node.js. From 1.15.0 until 1.20.0, Axios shouldBypassProxy treats the NO_PROXY CIDR form as a textual hostname suffix instead of evaluating the network range. fastify is a fast and low overhead web framework for Node.js. In versions 5.12.2 through 5.12.5, the routine that lowercases header names declared in a route schema does not lowercase the enum or const header names nested inside a propertyNames subschema. As a result, a header allow-list or deny-list written with canonical (non-lowercase) casing never matches the incoming lowercased header, so a restricted header passes validation and reaches the route handler. An attacker can therefore bypass a case-sensitive header validation rule and smuggle a forbidden header past the schema, affecting the integrity of request handling. The issue is fixed in fastify 5.12.6, and users should upgrade to 5.12.6 or later. There is no workaround other than upgrading, though applications can declare header names in lowercase to avoid the mismatch.

The Link Layer Control Procedure (LLCP) implementation of the Zephyr software Bluetooth LE Controller retains the receive node that carried an accepted LL_PHY_UPDATE_IND so that it can later be reused for the host notification when the update instant is reached (llcp_rx_node_retain() in subsys/bluetooth/controller/ll_sw/ull_llcp.c, and the node is deliberately not recycled while marked NODE_RX_TYPE_RETAIN). The invalid-PDU arms of llcp_lp_pu_rx() and llcp_rp_pu_rx() in subsys/bluetooth/controller/ll_sw/ull_llcp_phy.c completed the procedure via llcp_lr_complete() / llcp_rr_complete() without first releasing that retained node, so the procedure context — the only remaining reference to the node — was freed while the node was still held out of the receive pool. A peer device on an established LE connection can drive this deterministically and without pairing or encryption. The Bluetooth Link Layer control procedure code in subsys/bluetooth/controller/ll_sw/ull_llcp_conn_upd.c retains the received RX node while a Connection Update / Connection Parameter procedure waits for its instant, so the node can later carry the host notification (llcp_rx_node_retain(), which marks it NODE_RX_TYPE_RETAIN and thereby suppresses the normal recycling in ull.c). The default: arm of llcp_rp_cu_rx() and llcp_lp_cu_rx() — the "invalid PDU, terminate the connection" path — completed the procedure without releasing that retained node. llcp_rr_check_done() then dequeued and freed the procedure context with ctx->node_ref.rx still pointing at the retained node, dropping the last reference to it. A peer device in radio range can reach this without pairing, bonding, or encryption. Against a peripheral, the peer sends a well-formed LL_CONNECTION_UPDATE_IND with an instant a few connection events in the future (the node is retained and the procedure enters RP_CU_STATE_WAIT_INSTANT), then, before the instant is reached, sends any other LL Control PDU such as LL_LENGTH_REQ. ull_cp_rx() routes that PDU into the active remote Connection Update procedure, which takes the invalid-PDU

The Bluetooth Link Layer Control Procedure (LLCP) implementation for Connected Isochronous Stream (CIS) creation retains an RX node (ctx->node_ref.rx, marked NODE_RX_TYPE_RETAIN) so it can later be reused as the host notification — on the peripheral while awaiting the Host's reply to an LL_CIS_REQ, and on the central for the whole duration of a locally initiated CIS Create. In subsys/bluetooth/controller/ll_sw/ull_llcp_cc.c, the "invalid PDU received" paths of llcp_rp_cc_rx() and llcp_lp_cc_rx() terminated the connection and completed the procedure without releasing that retained node, breaking the invariant checked in llcp_lr_check_done() and llcp_rr_check_done() and orphaning the node's memory. A peer device within radio range can reach this with a single extra LL Control PDU on an unauthenticated, unencrypted ACL link. MariaDB Connector/Node.js is used to connect applications developed on Node.js to MariaDB and MySQL databases. Prior to 3.2.5, 3.3.4, 3.4.7, and 3.5.4, text-protocol escaping always prefixes quotes with a backslash and does not honor the session's NO_BACKSLASH_ESCAPES mode, including in Connection.escape(). When that mode is enabled, the backslash is an ordinary character, so an attacker-controlled placeholder value can close the SQL string literal and inject arbitrary SQL with the application's database privileges. The vulnerable configuration may be enabled server-wide, through connector initialization options, or with an application-issued SET sql_mode; execute() and batch() use binary protocols and are not affected. MariaDB Connector/Node.js is used to connect applications developed on Node.js to MariaDB and MySQL databases. Prior to 3.2.5, 3.3.4, 3.4.7, and 3.5.4, the GeoJSON Polygon and MultiPolygon binary encoders size a Buffer.allocUnsafe() allocation from each ring's numeric length before confirming that the ring is an array. A malformed non-array ring can therefore reserve bytes that the writing loop skips, and the connector sends the full buffer through execute() or batch(), disclosing uninitialized Node.js heap data into a database value. The persisted data can include other users' content, session material, database credentials, or TLS key material and may propagate to backups and replicas. MariaDB Connector/Node.js is used to connect applications developed on Node.js to MariaDB and MySQL databases. From 3.3.0 until 3.5.4, the zero-configuration TLS fingerprint-validation path calls Ed25519PasswordAuth.hash() through Authentication.validateFingerPrint, but Ed25519PasswordAuth.hash() references a seed identifier that is not in scope. Exposure requires a MariaDB server reached over TCP, TLS enabled with ssl: true or an ssl object whose rejectUnauthorized value is not false, a password set, no ssl.ca configured, and client_ed25519 negotiated as the authentication plugin. Under those conditions, a legitimate server, malicious server, or network attacker presenting a self-signed certificate can reach this path and cause a synchronous ReferenceError to escape the socket data handler. Under Node.js default uncaught-exception behavior, the client process terminates, causing denial of service. Configurations using a provided CA, rejectUnauthorized: false, another authentication plugin, or a Unix socket do not reach this vulnerable path. This issue is fixed in version 3.5.4.

msgpack5 is a msgpack v5 implementation for node.js and the browser. Prior to 6.1.0, the decoder reads the four-byte length of a map32 value before validating that the complete five-byte header is available. A truncated map32 header therefore causes a checked out-of-bounds buffer read and throws RangeError instead of IncompleteBufferError, which can unexpectedly terminate a request, stream, or worker in applications that wait for additional bytes after IncompleteBufferError. There is no adjacent-memory disclosure because the buffer implementation checks bounds. This issue is fixed in version 6.1.0.
