  • Sep 16, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/display: avoid divide-by-zero in __is_lut_linear() __is_lut_linear() computes the CVE-2026-89821 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/display: avoid divide-by-zero in __is_lut_linear() __is_lut_linear() computes the expected value of each entry with expected = i * MAX_DRM_LUT_VALUE / (size - 1); If it is ever called with a single-entry LUT, size - 1 is zero and the kernel takes a divide error (#DE). A LUT with fewer than two entries cannot describe a linear mapping anyway, so return false early instead of dividing by zero.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/damon/core: avoid infinite kdamond_merge_regions() internal loop Patch series "mm/damon: unurgent fixes for infinite loop, NULL de-ref and races", v1.1. Sashiko found a few issues in DAMON that could cause infinite loop, NULL dereference and monitoring results degradation. The first two sounds scary but the infinite loop happens only under unreasonable user setup. The NULL dereference is only in a unit test. Monitoring results degradation is trivial since it is only best-effort, and those happens from only unlikely races. Still those are bugs that better to fix if possible. Fix those. This patch (of 6): Due to online parameter update like events, the number of DAMON regions could be higher than the user-set upper limit. kdamond_merge_regions() repeats merge regions until the number meets the limit, while doubling the merge threshold up to the theoretical maximum threshold. It is tried only up to the theoretical maximum threshold because even the aggressive merging can fail from reducing the number of regions under the user-defined upper limit. For example, there could be many user-defined non-conti

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ipv6: avoid divide by zero in rt6_multipath_rebalance rt6_multipath_rebalance() calculates the total eligible nexthop weight in one pass and programs upper bounds in a second pass. Since RTM_NEWROUTE is RTNL-free, a concurrent ignore_routes_with_linkdown update can make the first pass return zero while the second sees an eligible nexthop, causing rt6_upper_bound_set() to divide by zero. UBSAN: division-overflow in net/ipv6/route.c:4845:17 Oops: divide error: 0000 [#1] SMP KASAN NOPTI rt6_upper_bound_set() net/ipv6/route.c:4845 rt6_multipath_rebalance() fib6_add_rt2node() ip6_route_multipath_add() inet6_rtm_newroute() Skip upper-bound calculation when the first pass reports a zero total. • Sep 11, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fpga: altera-cvp: Avoid out-of-bounds read in trailing byte write The trailing byte path iCVE-2026-89730 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fpga: altera-cvp: Avoid out-of-bounds read in trailing byte write The trailing byte path in altera_cvp_send_block() dereferences a u32 pointer even when only 1-3 bytes remain in the input buffer. If the buffer ends at a page or scatterlist boundary, this can read past the valid image data and fault. Copy the remaining bytes into a zero-initialized u32 before writing the final word so only valid bytes are read from the input buffer.

  • Sep 11, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: audit: avoid dropping live tree ref on fsnotify rule autoremove audit_del_rule() is used fCVE-2026-89643 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Critical 9.8

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: audit: avoid dropping live tree ref on fsnotify rule autoremove audit_del_rule() is used for both netlink deletion templates and internal fsnotify autoremove. The former passes a parsed template which owns a temporary tree reference; the latter passes the installed entry itself. The unconditional audit_put_tree() at the end of audit_del_rule() assumes the template case. For mixed AUDIT_DIR plus AUDIT_EXE rules, an fsnotify autoremove event therefore drops the installed rule's live tree reference. Repeating this across rules sharing the same tree can free the tree while another rule still references it, and a later autoremove dereferences the freed pathname while comparing rules. Move the temporary-tree put to audit_rule_change(), the caller that owns deletion templates. Keep it in the AUDIT_DEL_RULE cleanup so both successful deletion and -ENOENT still release the parser-owned tree. [PM: dropped unnecessary comment for line length reasons]

  • Sep 11, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: SUNRPC: xdr_buf_trim: clamp buf->len to avoid underflow xdr_buf_trim() trims `len` bytes fCVE-2026-89551 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Critical 9.8

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: SUNRPC: xdr_buf_trim: clamp buf->len to avoid underflow xdr_buf_trim() trims `len` bytes from the tail of an xdr_buf by walking the tail, pages, and head iovecs. Each per-section step uses min_t() so it never removes more bytes than that section holds, but the final accounting at the fix_len label subtracts the total bytes actually consumed from buf->len without any clamp: fix_len: buf->len -= (len - trim); When the caller has set buf->len to a value smaller than the sum of the iov_lens, (len - trim) can exceed buf->len and the unsigned subtraction wraps to near UINT_MAX. gss_krb5_unwrap_v2() reaches xdr_buf_trim() in exactly that state: buf->head[0].iov_len -= GSS_KRB5_TOK_HDR_LEN + headskip; buf->len = len - (GSS_KRB5_TOK_HDR_LEN + headskip); xdr_buf_trim(buf, ec + GSS_KRB5_TOK_HDR_LEN + tailskip); buf->len is a small wire-derived value while the iov_lens are at page scale, so the per-section loops legitimately consume far more bytes than buf->len records. The wrapped buf->len then propagates as the authoritative stream bound into every downstream XDR decoder. Fix by clamping

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iommufd: Avoid locking internal accesses during unmap iommufd_access_notify_unmap() skips internal accesses because they do not have an external unmap callback to invoke. However, the current test calls iommufd_lock_obj() before checking whether the access is internal. If iommufd_lock_obj() succeeds, the loop then sees the internal access and continues, bypassing the matching iommufd_put_object() used by the normal unmap path. This leaks the object reference taken by iommufd_lock_obj(). Check for internal accesses first so skipped entries are never locked.

  • Sep 11, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: mt76: mt7615: avoid waiting for mac work under the mt76 mutex mt7615_suspend() acquiCVE-2026-80938 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: mt76: mt7615: avoid waiting for mac work under the mt76 mutex mt7615_suspend() acquired the mt76 mutex and then called cancel_delayed_work_sync() on mac_work. mt7615_mac_work() acquires the same mutex via mt7615_mutex_acquire() at the top of the worker, so if mac_work is already running and blocked on the mutex, the suspend path deadlocks waiting for the work it holds the mutex against. Flush scan_work and mac_work before taking the mutex, matching the suspend paths in mt7921 and mt7925. scan_work only takes the mt76 spinlock, but moving it keeps the sequence consistent. This also keeps mac_work from running over an already suspended HIF, which the previous split (async cancel under the lock, sync cancel after release) would have allowed.

  • Sep 4, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tipc: avoid busy looping in tipc_exit_net() Blamed commit introduced a busy-wait loop in tCVE-2026-80866 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tipc: avoid busy looping in tipc_exit_net() Blamed commit introduced a busy-wait loop in tipc_exit_net() to wait for pending UDP bearer cleanup works to complete: while (atomic_read(&tn->wq_count)) cond_resched(); This loop can busy-wait for a long time if cond_resched() is a NOP. This typically happens if the netns exit is executed by a high priority task, or under kernels configured without preemption (CONFIG_PREEMPT_NONE). In such cases, it wastes CPU cycles and can lead to soft lockups. Fix this by replacing the busy loop with wait_var_event(), allowing the thread to sleep properly until the work queue count reaches zero. Accordingly, update cleanup_bearer() to use atomic_dec_and_test() and wake_up_var() to wake up the waiter when the count drops to zero. This uses the global wait queue hash table, avoiding the need to bloat struct tipc_net with a wait_queue_head_t. The atomic_dec_and_test() provides the necessary memory barrier to ensure the wakeup is not missed.

  • Sep 4, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xfrm: avoid lock inversion in nat keepalive work nat_keepalive_work() walks the state tablCVE-2026-80845 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xfrm: avoid lock inversion in nat keepalive work nat_keepalive_work() walks the state table while xfrm_state_walk() holds net->xfrm.xfrm_state_lock. Its callback then acquires x->lock, which conflicts with the delete path taking the same locks in reverse order via xfrm_state_delete() and __xfrm_state_delete(). This creates an AB-BA deadlock that is reported by lockdep when a NAT keepalive worker races with SA deletion. Fix this by splitting the keepalive walk into two phases. First, collect the candidate states while the walk holds xfrm_state_lock and take a reference on each state. Then, after the walk completes, process each collected state and acquire x->lock without nesting it under xfrm_state_lock.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/ionic: avoid OOB TX partner lookup for hwstamp RXQ The dedicated hardware timestamp RX queue is allocated with q->index equal to lif->ionic->nrxqs_per_lif. The normal txqcqs array only contains the regular queue pairs, so using that index to set rxq->partner can read one entry past txqcqs[] and then write through the derived pointer. Only link RX/TX partners for normal queue-pair indexes. Leave the hwstamp RX queue unpaired, and make the XDP_TX path abort cleanly if an RX queue has no TX partner.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: futex: Avoid private hash use-after-free on final put futex_private_hash_put() drops the reference to fph before evaluating fph->mm for wake_up_var(). futex_ref_put() enables preemption again before returning. If that put drops the final reference and the task is preempted, another task can pivot to the replacement hash and free the old hash after an RCU grace period. The first task then reads fph->mm from the freed allocation when it resumes. KASAN reports a slab-use-after-free in futex_private_hash_put(), with the read at offset 24 in a freed kmalloc-512 allocation. The allocation and free stacks point to futex_hash_allocate() and the RCU free path, respectively. Load the mm pointer while the fph reference is still held and pass the saved value to wake_up_var(). wake_up_var() uses the pointer as a waitqueue key and does not dereference the mm through it.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: flowtable: avoid num_encaps underflow on bridge VLAN untag The DEV_PATH_BR_VLAN_UNTAG case post-decrements info->num_encaps inside WARN_ON_ONCE(). num_encaps is u8, so if it's already 0 the decrement still happens and wraps it to 255. The break only leaves the inner switch -- a later path entry can set info->indev back to a real device, and we end up returning with num_encaps == 255. nft_dev_forward_path() then walks info.encap[] (size 2) up to num_encaps, which means an OOB stack read and a bogus count copied into the route descriptor. Should only happen on a malformed bridge path stack, hence the WARN, but worth handling sanely. Move the decrement out of the WARN. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mptcp: avoid combining some incoming suboptions Some MPTCP suboptions are mutually exclusive according to the RFC8684, but also because in different places, the code doesn't expect some combinations to be present. That's specially true for suboptions that would be present twice, but with different attributes. The new restrictions are the same as the ones applied on the output side, with mptcp_write_options. The same rules can be reused with a small fix: an MP_FASTCLOSE can be used with a DSS when the sender picks this option [1], which is not the case on Linux. Here are the rules: Which options can be used together? In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: libceph: Avoid using invalid osd indices from primary_temp A corrupted osdmap received from a Ceph monitor or OSD may contain osd indices in its pg_temp, primary_temp, pg_upmap, and pg_upmap_items parts that don't exist, i.e., that are greater than max_osd or smaller than CEPH_HOMELESS_OSD (-1). These indices are used to create the up and acting set in ceph_pg_to_up_acting_osds(), called from calc_target(). While most of these osd indices are checked, the one from primary_temp is not. Subsequently, this may lead to calc_target() returning this (potentially invalid) index as target osd for a (linger) request. Because the osd_state, osd_weight, and osd_addr arrays only contain max_osd entries (with indices 0 to max_osd -1), this leads to out-of-bounds accesses when trying to read values from these arrays. This patch fixes the issue by adding a check to get_temp_osds(), so that only valid osd indices from primary_temp are used, and it falls back to using the primary from pg_temp or the up set if it is invalid. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ceph: avoid fs reclaim while using current->journal_info handle_reply() stores a `ceph_mds_request` pointer in `current->journal_info` while filling the inode and dentry cache from an MDS reply. An allocation in this section can enter direct reclaim and prune dentries from another filesystem. If this dirties an ext4 inode, ext4 starts a JBD2 transaction. JBD2 interprets the Ceph request in `current->journal_info` as a journal handle and dereferences the request's `r_tid` as `h_transaction`, causing a kernel crash, e.g.: Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address 00000000077b4818 [...] Internal error: Oops: 0000000096000004 [#1] SMP Modules linked in: CPU: 6 UID: 0 PID: 2699135 Comm: kworker/6:3 Tainted: G W 6.18.38-i3 #1113 NONE [...] Workqueue: ceph-msgr ceph_con_workfn pstate: 80400009 (Nzcv daif +PAN -UAO -TCO -DIT -SSBS BTYPE=--) pc : jbd2__journal_start+0x2c/0x208 lr : __ext4_journal_start_sb+0x100/0x178 [...] Call trace: jbd2__journal_start+0x2c/0x208 (P) __ext4_journal_start_sb+0x100/0x178 ext4_dirty_inode+0x3c/0x90 __mark_inode_dirty+0x58/0x400 ip

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: eth: bnxt: avoid deadlock when canceling IRQ affinity notifier Unregistering IRQ affinity notifiers waits for the callback synchronously. bnxt takes the netdev instance lock in the notifier (to restart the queue) and cancels the work under the same lock. This may obviously deadlock. Move the restart to the async service task. The queue restart isn't super time sensitive. Store the new TPH tag, schedule the task. Safely canceling the service task is already ironed out. In bnxt_request_irq() the order of registering notifier, affinity and initial TPH programming has to be inverted. I think it was racy previously since user may trigger an update as soon as notifier is installed. There's a small known gap - if pcie_tph_get_cpu_st() fails at init and the target tag is 0 we may miss programming the entry. This does not seem worth fixing, the code has skip-on-failure all over the place, anyway.

Kernel page table walkers fall into two broad categories - those ranges where no exclusion is required via walk_kernel_page_table_range_lockless() and those where exclusion is required via walk_kernel_page_table_range() or walk_page_range_debug(). The former category is used only by arm64 arch code operating on ranges it both wholly owns and does not concurrently write. The latter category consists of kernel page table walkers operating on ranges that are wholly owned (but which need exclusion against concurrent writers). The lock used for exclusion is the mmap lock, and for kernel ranges this is the mmap lock on init_mm. ptdump is a special case being both the only user of walk_page_range_debug(), and the only case in which it walks ranges it does not own. This presents a problem, as page tables may be freed under ptdump. And indeed there is a use-after-free bug in the kernel as a result, which this series addresses. vmap promotes page tables to huge lea

Most queue-dump callsites already serialize that walk under the socket lock or sk->sk_lock.slock, but tipc_poll() calls trace_tipc_sk_poll(..., TIPC_DUMP_ALL, ...) without holding either lock. That lets the poll trace path reach tipc_list_dump() and backlog head/tail dumping while another context dequeues and frees an skb, leaving the trace helper dereferencing a stale queue entry. Stop the unlocked poll trace site from requesting queue dumps. Other queue dump trace callsites keep their existing output under the locking they already provide, while poll still emits the event itself without walking live queue members from an unlocked context.

Fix the first case by removing the early return: vmw->vkms_enabled is already false on the rpci-failure path so no work will ever be queued, and allocating the workqueue unconditionally keeps the control flow simple. Fix the second case by guarding the cleanup with a NULL check, since alloc_ordered_workqueue() can still fail under low memory.

Commit 3de744ee4e45 ("lockd: Use xdrgen XDR functions for the NLMv4 TEST procedure") set .pc_argzero to zero for the converted procedures and moved file-handle population into nlm4svc_lookup_file(), which copies only xdr_lock->fh.len bytes into lock->fh.data. When an NLMv4 client presents a file handle shorter than LOCKD_FH_HASH_SIZE, bytes fh.len..31 retain whatever the argument buffer held from an earlier request. The same wire handle then hashes to different buckets across calls; nlm_lookup_file() misses the existing nlm_file entry, and lock-state lookups fail. Zero only the tail bytes that file_hash() would otherwise consume. Handles of LOCKD_FH_HASH_SIZE or larger already populate every byte that file_hash() reads.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: seq: avoid stale FIFO cells during resize snd_seq_fifo_resize() still needs to publish the replacement pool before it waits for FIFO users. A blocking snd_seq_read() holds f->use_lock while it sleeps, so concurrent senders must be able to queue to the new pool and wake that reader instead of failing against a closing old pool. However, snd_seq_fifo_event_in() duplicates an event before it takes f->lock, and snd_seq_read() can dequeue a cell and later call snd_seq_fifo_cell_putback() if copy_to_user() or snd_seq_expand_var_event() fails. If resize swaps f->pool and detaches oldhead in between, either path can relink an old-pool cell after the snapshot. That stale cell sits outside the drained oldhead list, keeps oldpool->counter elevated, and can leave snd_seq_pool_delete() waiting for the retired pool to drain. Keep the existing swap-before-wait ordering in snd_seq_fifo_resize(), but reject stale cells before any FIFO relink. Revalidate event-in cells under f->lock and retry them against the published replacement pool, and free stale putback cells instead of linking them back into the FIFO. The buggy sce

If a TCP packet with gso_size=0xFFFF is passed to skb_segment(), it will be mistakenly treated as GSO_BY_FRAGS, leading to a NULL pointer dereference because local TCP packets do not use frag_list. Fix this by returning min(IPV6_MAXPLEN, GSO_BY_FRAGS - 1) (65534) from ip6_default_advmss() when MTU is large. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: RDMA/bnxt_re: Avoid repeated requests to allocate WC pages Applications can request multiple WC pages for the same ucontext. As of now, only 1 WC page per ucontext is supported. Add a lock to avoid concurrent access and a check to fail repeated requests. Also, if the mmap entry insert fails for the WC, free the Doorbell page index mapped for the WC page.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: staging: most: video: avoid double free on video register failure comp_register_videodev() allocates a video_device with video_device_alloc() and releases it if video_register_device() fails. This can double free the video_device when __video_register_device() reaches device_register() and that call fails: video_register_device() -> __video_register_device() -> device_register() fails -> put_device(&vdev->dev) -> v4l2_device_release() -> vdev->release(vdev) -> video_device_release(vdev) comp_register_videodev() -> video_device_release(mdev->vdev) Use video_device_release_empty() while registering the device so that registration failure paths do not free mdev->vdev through vdev->release(). comp_register_videodev() then releases mdev->vdev exactly once on failure. Restore video_device_release() after successful registration so the registered device keeps its normal lifetime handling. This issue was found by a static analysis tool I am developing.

  • Aug 15, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/sched: sch_teql: Introduce slaves_lock to avoid race condition and UAF The teql masterCVE-2026-72390 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.8

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/sched: sch_teql: Introduce slaves_lock to avoid race condition and UAF The teql master->slaves singly linked list is not protected against multiple writes. It can be mod'ed concurently from teql_master_xmit(), teql_dequeue(), teql_init() and teql_destroy() without holding any list lock or RCU protection. zdi-disclosures@trendmicro.com has demonstrated that the qdisc is freed after an RCU grace period, but teql_master_xmit() running on another CPU can still hold a stale pointer into the list, resulting in a slab-use-after-free: BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in teql_master_xmit+0xf0f/0x16b0 Read of size 8 at addr ffff888013fb0440 by task poc/332 Freed 512-byte region [ffff888013fb0400, ffff888013fb0600) (kmalloc-512) The fix? Add a per-master slaves_lock spinlock that serializes all mutations of master->slaves and the NEXT_SLAVE() links in teql_destroy() and teql_qdisc_init(). teql_master_xmit() also takes the same slaves_lock around those updates. Annotate master->slaves and the per-slave ->next pointer with __rcu and use the appropriate RCU accessors everywhere they are touched: rcu_assign_pointer() on t

  • Aug 15, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: minix: avoid overflow in bitmap block count calculation minix_check_superblock() uses miniCVE-2026-72369 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.8

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: minix: avoid overflow in bitmap block count calculation minix_check_superblock() uses minix_blocks_needed() to verify that the on-disk imap and zmap block counts are large enough for the advertised inode and zone counts. The helper currently performs DIV_ROUND_UP() in unsigned int arithmetic. A Minix v3 image can set s_ninodes or s_zones near UINT_MAX so the addition inside DIV_ROUND_UP() wraps to zero. That makes a zero imap/zmap block count look valid, after which minix_fill_super() can dereference s_imap[0] or s_zmap[0] even though no bitmap buffers were allocated. Impact: mounting a crafted Minix v3 image whose s_ninodes or s_zones is near UINT_MAX makes minix_check_superblock() accept a zero bitmap-block count and minix_fill_super() dereference s_imap[0]/s_zmap[0], panicking the kernel. The divisor is the bitmap capacity in bits, blocksize * 8, which is always a power of two: minix_fill_super() obtains the block size through sb_set_blocksize(), and blk_validate_block_size() rejects any size that is not a power of two. Use DIV_ROUND_UP_POW2(), which divides before adding the round-up term and so cannot ove

  • Aug 15, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ntfs: avoid stale runlist element dereference in MFT writeback ntfs_write_mft_block() mapsCVE-2026-72354 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 8.8

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ntfs: avoid stale runlist element dereference in MFT writeback ntfs_write_mft_block() maps each $MFT record through the $MFT data runlist. For sub-folio clusters it looks up a struct runlist_element under ni->runlist.lock, drops the lock, and later uses rl->length and rl->vcn when choosing folio_sz. That pointer is only borrowed from ni->runlist.rl. Concurrent $MFT allocation extension can merge a replacement runlist under the same lock, and ntfs_rl_realloc() can free the old backing array. If that happens between the lookup and the later folio_sz decision, writeback can dereference freed runlist storage. The buggy scenario involves two paths, with each column showing the order within that path: MFT writeback path: $MFT allocation extension: 1. Look up rl under 1. Extend the $MFT data allocation. ni->runlist.lock. 2. Publish a replacement runlist. 2. Drop ni->runlist.lock. 3. Free the old runlist array. 3. Read rl->length and rl->vcn to choose folio_sz. Compute the remaining run length while ni->runlist.lock is still held, and use that scalar after unlock

  • Aug 15, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ntfs: avoid stale runlist element dereference in fallocate ntfs_attr_fallocate() allocatesCVE-2026-72353 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 8.8

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ntfs: avoid stale runlist element dereference in fallocate ntfs_attr_fallocate() allocates holes and delayed allocations inside initialized size by looking up the current runlist element under ni->runlist.lock. The returned struct runlist_element is only a borrowed pointer into ni->runlist.rl. A writer can replace and free that array after the read lock is dropped, so later reads of rl->lcn, rl->length and rl->vcn can touch freed memory. The buggy scenario involves two paths, with each column showing the order within that path: ntfs_attr_fallocate(): 1. Take ni->runlist.lock for read. 2. Get rl from ntfs_attr_find_vcn_nolock(). 3. Drop ni->runlist.lock. 4. Read rl->lcn, rl->length and rl->vcn. mmap page_mkwrite: 1. Enter ntfs_filemap_page_mkwrite(). 2. Reach __ntfs_write_iomap_begin() and ntfs_attr_map_cluster(). 3. Merge allocation state with ntfs_runlists_merge(). 4. Reallocate ni->runlist.rl in ntfs_rl_realloc(), freeing the old array. Validation reproduced this kernel report: BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in ntfs_attr_fallocate+0xbb8/0xd00 Call Trace: <TASK> dump_stack_lvl+0x66/0xa0
