  • Aug 13, 2026Untrusted data inclusion in pg_dump in PostgreSQL allows a malicious superuser of the origin server to inject arbitrary code for restore-time execution as the cCVE-2026-18408 · Other software · Postgresql · reported by f86ef6dc-4d3a-42ad-8f28-e6d5547a5007High 8.8

Untrusted data inclusion in pg_dump in PostgreSQL allows a malicious superuser of the origin server to inject arbitrary code for restore-time execution as the client operating system account running psql to restore the dump, via psql \restrict meta-command input expansion. The fix for CVE-2025-8714 introduced \restrict and \unrestrict to block this attack, but \unrestrict itself was sufficient for an attack. pg_dumpall is also affected. pg_restore is affected when used to generate a plain-format dump. Non-core use of \restrict would be affected, but we've not identified non-core use. Versions before PostgreSQL 18.6, 17.11, 16.15, 15.19, and 14.24 are affected.

A path traversal vulnerability in LXD allows an attacker to manipulate file system paths during backup import and restore operations. When importing or restoring a backup archive, LXD fails to validate instance and storage volume names contained within the archive metadata. An attacker can exploit this flaw by supplying a crafted backup archive with malicious instance or volume names containing path traversal sequences, potentially allowing file access or overwriting outside the designated restore directory.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: restore DACL size on check_add_overflow() to avoid malformed ACL check_add_overflow() unconditionally writes the truncated sum into *d even on overflow, per its contract in include/linux/overflow.h. The four check_add_overflow() guards in set_posix_acl_entries_dacl() and set_ntacl_dacl() break out of the ACE-building loops on overflow, but the truncated *size is then consumed downstream at the end of set_ntacl_dacl(): pndacl->size = cpu_to_le16(le16_to_cpu(pndacl->size) + size); This produces an on-wire NT ACL whose pndacl->size under-reports the bytes actually written by the preceding fill_ace_for_sid()/memcpy() calls, yielding a malformed ACL that can trigger out-of-bounds reads when re-parsed by clients or ksmbd itself. Restore *size to its pre-addition value on each overflow branch (via `*size -= ace_sz` / `size -= nt_ace_size`) so that after the break, *size once again holds the cumulative size of the successfully-written ACEs. The committed ACL is then truncated-but-self-consistent rather than malformed. The ksmbd DACL builders are the only check_add_overflow() sites found where an overflow p

  • Jul 28, 2026A flaw was found in CRIU's handling of restartable sequences (rseq) during checkpoint/restore.CVE-2026-18107 · Other software · Red Hat · reported by Red HatHigh 7.8

A flaw was found in CRIU's handling of restartable sequences (rseq) during checkpoint/restore. A malicious process inside a container can register an rseq critical section that hijacks CRIU's parasite code injection during checkpoint, allowing it to spoof the process credentials saved in the checkpoint image. On restore, the container process gains elevated capabilities and zeroed UIDs/GIDs. The practical impact on Red Hat products is limited by several factors: checkpoint/restore requires root privileges (podman) or cluster-admin RBAC (OpenShift) to trigger and cannot be initiated from within the container itself; on OpenShift prior to 4.17 the feature required explicit opt-in, and on 4.17+ the kubelet checkpoint API RBAC is not configured by default; OpenShift enforces user namespaces by default for regular workloads (hostUsers is gated behind admin-only SCCs), which makes the spoofed capabilities namespace-scoped and ineffective for privilege escalation; SELinux type enforcement (container_t) blocks privilege transitions independently of capabilities; seccomp filters persist through checkpoint/restore and cannot be corrupted via the parasite; and kernel mount namespace ownershi

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: arm64: nv: Fix SPSR_EL2 restore in kvm_hyp_handle_mops() kvm_hyp_handle_mops() resets the single-step state machine as part of rewinding state for a MOPS exception by modifying vcpu_cpsr() and writing the result directly into hardware. In the case of nested virtualization, vcpu_cpsr() is a synthetic value such that the rest of KVM can deal with vEL2 cleanly. That means the value requires translation before being written into hardware, which is unfortunately missing from the MOPS handler. Fix it by directly modifying SPSR_EL2 and avoiding the synthetic state altogether, which will be resynchronized on the next 'full' exit back to KVM.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: PCI/IOV: Skip VF Resizable BAR restore on read error sriov_restore_vf_rebar_state() uses the VF Resizable BAR Control register to decide how many VF BARs to restore (nbars) and which VF BAR each iteration addresses (bar_idx). bar_idx indexes into dev->sriov->barsz[], which has only PCI_SRIOV_NUM_BARS (6) entries. When a device does not respond, config reads typically return PCI_ERROR_RESPONSE (~0). Both fields are 3 bits wide, so nbars and bar_idx both evaluate to 7. The barsz[] access then goes out of bounds. UBSAN reports this as: UBSAN: array-index-out-of-bounds in drivers/pci/iov.c:948:51 index 7 is out of range for type 'resource_size_t [6]' Observed on an NVIDIA RTX PRO 1000 GPU (GB207GLM) that stopped responding during a failed GC6 power state exit. The subsequent pci_restore_state() invoked sriov_restore_vf_rebar_state() while config reads returned 0xffffffff, triggering the splat. Bail out if any VF Resizable BAR Control read returns PCI_ERROR_RESPONSE. No further VF BARs are touched, which is safe because a config read that returns PCI_ERROR_RESPONSE indicates the device is unreachable and resto

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tcp: restore RCU grace period in tcp_ao_destroy_sock Commit 51e547e8c89c ("tcp: Free TCP-AO/TCP-MD5 info/keys without RCU") removed the call_rcu() callback from tcp_ao_destroy_sock(), arguing that "the destruction of info/keys is delayed until the socket destructor" and therefore "no one can discover it anymore". That argument does not hold for the call site in tcp_connect() (net/ipv4/tcp_output.c:4327-4332). At that point the socket is in TCP_SYN_SENT, has already been inserted into the inet ehash by inet_hash_connect() in tcp_v4_connect(), and is therefore very much discoverable: any softirq running tcp_v4_rcv() on another CPU can take the socket out of the ehash, walk into tcp_inbound_hash(), and load tp->ao_info via implicit RCU before bh_lock_sock_nested() is taken on the destroying CPU. The reader path then enters __tcp_ao_do_lookup() (net/ipv4/tcp_ao.c:208) which re-loads tp->ao_info via rcu_dereference_check(); the re-load can still observe the (about-to-be-freed) pointer because there is no synchronize_rcu() between rcu_assign_pointer(tp->ao_info, NULL) and tcp_ao_info_free() in tcp_ao_destroy_sock().

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: crypto: pcrypt - restore callback for non-parallel fallback pcrypt installs pcrypt_aead_done() on the child AEAD request before trying to submit it through padata. If padata_do_parallel() returns -EBUSY, pcrypt falls back to calling the child AEAD directly. That fallback must not keep the padata completion callback. Otherwise an asynchronous completion runs pcrypt_aead_done() even though the request was never enrolled in padata. Restore the original request callback and callback data before calling the child AEAD directly. This keeps the fallback path aligned with a direct AEAD request while leaving the parallel path unchanged.

The existing approach that moves the hook from the basechain/flowtable hook_list to transaction hook_list breaks netlink dump path readers of this RCU-protected list. It should be possible use an array for nft_trans_hook to store the deleted hooks to compact the representation but I am not expecting many hook object, specially now that wildcard support for devices is in place. Note that the nft_trans_chain_hooks() list contains a list of struct nft_trans_hook objects for DELCHAIN and DELFLOWTABLE commands, while this list stores struct nft_hook objects for NEWCHAIN and NEWFLOWTABLE. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/hugetlb: restore reservation on error in hugetlb folio copy paths Two sites in mm/hugetlb.c allocate a hugetlb folio via alloc_hugetlb_folio() (consuming a VMA reservation) and then call copy_user_large_folio(), which became int-returning in commit 1cb9dc4b475c ("mm: hwpoison: support recovery from HugePage copy-on-write faults") and can now fail (e.g. -EHWPOISON on a hwpoisoned source page). On the failure path, folio_put() restores the global hugetlb pool count through free_huge_folio(), but the per-VMA reservation map entry is left marked consumed: - hugetlb_mfill_atomic_pte() resubmission path (UFFDIO_COPY) - copy_hugetlb_page_range() fork-time CoW path when hugetlb_try_dup_anon_rmap() fails (rare: pinned hugetlb anon folio under fork) User-visible effect: on UFFDIO_COPY into a private hugetlb VMA where the resubmission copy fails, the reservation for that address is leaked from the VMA's reserve map. A subsequent fault at the same address takes the no-reservation path, and under hugetlb pool pressure the task is SIGBUSed at an address it had previously reserved. The fork-time CoW path le

  • Jun 25, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdkfd: Fix buffer overflow in SDMA queue checkpoint/restore on GFX11 The v11 MQD manaCVE-2026-53143 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.8

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdkfd: Fix buffer overflow in SDMA queue checkpoint/restore on GFX11 The v11 MQD manager incorrectly assigned the CP-compute variants of checkpoint_mqd/restore_mqd for KFD_MQD_TYPE_SDMA queues. These functions use sizeof(struct v11_compute_mqd) (2048 bytes) instead of sizeof(struct v11_sdma_mqd) (512 bytes), causing a 1536-byte overflow. During CRIU checkpoint of an SDMA queue on Navi3x: - checkpoint_mqd() reads 2048 bytes from a 512-byte SDMA MQD buffer, leaking 1536 bytes of adjacent GTT memory to userspace During CRIU restore: - restore_mqd() writes 2048 bytes into a 512-byte SDMA MQD buffer, corrupting 1536 bytes of adjacent GTT memory (often the ring buffer or neighboring MQDs) This is a copy-paste regression unique to v11. All other ASIC backends (cik, vi, v9, v10, v12) correctly use the SDMA-specific variants. Add checkpoint_mqd_sdma() and restore_mqd_sdma() functions that properly handle the smaller v11_sdma_mqd structure, matching the pattern used in other MQD managers. • Jun 24, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ipc: limit next_id allocation to the valid ID range The checkpoint/restore sysctl path canCVE-2026-52923 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.8

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ipc: limit next_id allocation to the valid ID range The checkpoint/restore sysctl path can request the next SysV IPC id through ids->next_id. ipc_idr_alloc() currently forwards that request to idr_alloc() with an open-ended upper bound. If the valid tail of the SysV IPC id space is full, the allocation can spill beyond ipc_mni. The returned SysV IPC id still uses the normal index encoding, so later lookup and removal can target the wrong slot. This leaves the real IDR entry behind and breaks the IDR state for the object. The bug is in ipc_idr_alloc() in the checkpoint/restore path. 1. ids->next_id is passed to: idr_alloc(&ids->ipcs_idr, new, ipcid_to_idx(next_id), 0, ...) 2. The zero upper bound makes the allocation effectively open-ended. Once the valid SysV IPC tail is occupied, idr_alloc() can spill past ipc_mni and allocate an entry beyond the valid IPC id range. 3. The new object id is still encoded with the narrower SysV IPC index width: new->id = (new->seq << ipcmni_seq_shift()) + idx 4. Later removal goes through ipc_rmid(), which uses: ipcid_to_idx(ipcp->id)

SQL injection in pgAdmin 4's named restore point endpoint (POST /browser/server/restore_point/{gid}/{sid}). The user-supplied 'value' field was interpolated directly into the SQL string with str.format() instead of being passed as a bound parameter, allowing an authenticated pgAdmin user with a connected PostgreSQL session to inject additional statements through that endpoint. The injected SQL executes under the database role the user is already authenticated as. The defect does not cross a privilege boundary -- the user already has direct SQL access to that role through the Query Tool -- so the attacker gains no capability beyond what their database role already grants them. The marginal impact accounts for the fact that the injection path is not the documented SQL-execution interface, so a deployment that gates the Query Tool at the application layer could see SQL executed through a path it did not anticipate. Fix passes the restore point name as a bound parameter and schema-qualifies the function call as pg_catalog.pg_create_restore_point so a non-default search_path on the connection cannot redirect the call to a shadow definition. A regression test asserts the value arrives

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: nSVM: Triple fault if restore host CR3 fails on nested #VMEXIT If loading L1's CR3 fails on a nested #VMEXIT, nested_svm_vmexit() returns an error code that is ignored by most callers, and continues to run L1 with corrupted state. A sane recovery is not possible in this case, and HW behavior is to cause a shutdown. Inject a triple fault instead, and do not return early from nested_svm_vmexit(). Continue cleaning up the vCPU state (e.g. clear pending exceptions), to handle the failure as gracefully as possible. From the APM: Upon #VMEXIT, the processor performs the following actions in order to return to the host execution context: ... if (illegal host state loaded, or exception while loading host state) shutdown else execute first host instruction following the VMRUN Remove the return value of nested_svm_vmexit(), which is mostly unchecked anyway.

  • May 27, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: SVM: Add missing save/restore handling of LBR MSRs MSR_IA32_DEBUGCTLMSR and LBR MSRs CVE-2026-46014 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Medium 5.5

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: SVM: Add missing save/restore handling of LBR MSRs MSR_IA32_DEBUGCTLMSR and LBR MSRs are currently not enumerated by KVM_GET_MSR_INDEX_LIST, and LBR MSRs cannot be set with KVM_SET_MSRS. So save/restore is completely broken. Fix it by adding the MSRs to msrs_to_save_base, and allowing writes to LBR MSRs from userspace only (as they are read-only MSRs) if LBR virtualization is enabled. Additionally, to correctly restore L1's LBRs while L2 is running, make sure the LBRs are copied from the captured VMCB01 save area in svm_copy_vmrun_state(). Note, for VMX, this also fixes a flaw where MSR_IA32_DEBUGCTLMSR isn't reported as an MSR to save/restore. Note #2, over-reporting MSR_IA32_LASTxxx on Intel is ok, as KVM already handles unsupported reads and writes thanks to commit b5e2fec0ebc3 ("KVM: Ignore DEBUGCTL MSRs with no effect") (kvm_do_msr_access() will morph the unsupported userspace write into a nop).
