  • Sep 11, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ocfs2: fix readdir position truncation on 32-bit kernels In ocfs2_dir_foreach_blk_el(), thCVE-2026-89490 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ocfs2: fix readdir position truncation on 32-bit kernels In ocfs2_dir_foreach_blk_el(), the directory cookie position is rebuilt with ctx->pos = (ctx->pos & ~(sb->s_blocksize - 1)) | offset; `ctx->pos` is loff_t (signed 64-bit), while `sb->s_blocksize` is unsigned long. On 32-bit kernels unsigned long is 32-bit, so the mask ~(sb->s_blocksize - 1) is computed as a 32-bit unsigned value (e.g. 0xfffff000 for a 4 KiB block size). In the AND expression with the 64-bit `ctx->pos`, that unsigned operand is zero-extended to 64 bits per the usual arithmetic conversions, yielding 0x00000000fffff000. The high 32 bits of `ctx->pos` are silently cleared, even though directory size is allowed to exceed 4 GiB. When readdir() crosses the 4 GiB boundary on a 32-bit kernel the position is reset back into the first 4 GiB block, making the re-validation path re-enumerate already-returned dirents indefinitely. This is ocfs2_dir_foreach_blk_el(), the extent-list readdir path taken for all non-inline directories, so a directory large enough to cross 4 GiB reaches it. This is the same class of bug that commit 3dce5bb82c97 ("

  • Sep 4, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fuse: fix invalidate lock leak on open O_TRUNC DAX failure fuse_open() takes filemap_invalCVE-2026-80855 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fuse: fix invalidate lock leak on open O_TRUNC DAX failure fuse_open() takes filemap_invalidate_lock() for a DAX truncate (dax_truncate = true) and releases it before the out_inode_unlock label. But when fuse_dax_break_layouts() fails, the goto out_inode_unlock skips the unlock and leaks the rwsem, so any later fault or truncate on the file stalls on the stale lock. fuse_dax_break_layouts() can fail with -ERESTARTSYS when a signal interrupts the wait for busy DAX pages to drain: open("file", O_RDWR | O_TRUNC) └─ fuse_open() ├─ filemap_invalidate_lock() # dax_truncate └─ fuse_dax_break_layouts() └─ dax_break_layout() └─ wait_page_idle() # TASK_INTERRUPTIBLE └─ fuse_wait_dax_page() # unlock, schedule, re-lock └─ signal → -ERESTARTSYS goto out_inode_unlock # <- lock leaked Fix this by moving filemap_invalidate_unlock() below the label so that all error paths release the lock, and rename the label to out_unlock as it now covers more than just the inode lock.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xfrm: fix xfrm_state_construct() auth-trunc leak attach_auth_trunc() can allocate x->aalg while leaving x->props.aalgo at zero when the selected auth algorithm has no sadb_alg_id. One real case is cmac(aes). xfrm_state_construct() then treats !x->props.aalgo as "no auth algorithm attached yet" and calls attach_auth(). That overwrites x->aalg and loses the first allocation. Any later failure or teardown only frees the replacement pointer. Check whether x->aalg is already attached instead of inferring that state from x->props.aalgo.

A numeric truncation weakness exists in the JSON parsing component of the MongoDB C++ Driver's BSON library. An actor who controls the text that an embedding application hands to the library's public JSON parsing interface, when that text is very large, can cause the library to read memory beyond the supplied buffer and return it to the caller, to silently accept only part of the input as a complete document, or to terminate the process. No MongoDB server, credentials, or non-default configuration is required; the effect is confined to the process that uses the library.

Both ca_ofs and log_clients come straight from the on-disk restart area. With an on-disk log_clients of 410 the product 410 * 160 = 65600; adding ca_ofs and storing into the u16 ra_len truncates modulo 65536 (e.g. ca_ofs 64 gives ra_len 128), so the "fits in the page" check passes even though the client array described by log_clients extends far beyond the page. ntfs_check_log_client_array() then walks the array bounded only by the on-disk log_clients count: cr = ca + idx; if (cr->prev_client != LOGFILE_NO_CLIENT) ... The tar extraction routines in moby/go-archive (Unpack, UnpackLayer, Untar/UntarUncompressed, and the ApplyLayer helpers) do not confine filesystem operations to the destination directory. The extractor decides where each archive entry lands using lexical string checks and then performs the filesystem operation on a path that is resolved by the OS, so links introduced by the archive can be followed out of the destination directory. An attacker who controls the contents of an archive can create or overwrite files at arbitrary paths writable by the extracting process.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iomap: guard io_size EOF trim against concurrent truncate underflow iomap: fix zero padding data issue in concurrent append writes changed ioend accounting so that io_size tracks only valid data within EOF. This trims io_size when a writeback range extends past end_pos: ioend->io_size += map_len; if (ioend->io_offset + ioend->io_size > end_pos) ioend->io_size = end_pos - ioend->io_offset; However, if end_pos ends up below ioend->io_offset, the subtraction becomes negative and is stored in size_t io_size, causing an unsigned wrap to a huge value. This can happen when writeback continues past byte-level EOF up to a block-aligned range, or when a concurrent truncate shrinks the file after end_pos was sampled in iomap_writeback_handle_eof(). A wrapped io_size can mislead append detection and corrupt completion-time size handling, since filesystem end_io paths consume io_size for decisions such as on-disk EOF updates and unwritten/COW completion ranges. Fix this by clamping io_size to zero when EOF has moved to or before the ioend start offset. This preserves the original intent of trimming io_s

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ieee802154: ca8210: fix pointer truncation in kfifo on 64-bit ca8210_test_int_driver_write() and ca8210_test_int_user_read() exchange a kmalloc'd buffer pointer through a struct kfifo, but pass a literal '4' as the byte count to kfifo_in()/kfifo_out(). This is correct on 32-bit (pointer = 4 bytes), but on 64-bit only the low 4 bytes of the 8-byte pointer are written into the FIFO. The reader then reads back 4 bytes into an 8-byte local pointer variable, leaving the upper 4 bytes uninitialized stack data. The first dereference of the reconstructed pointer (fifo_buffer[1]) accesses an arbitrary kernel address and generally results in an oops. Use sizeof(fifo_buffer) so the byte count matches pointer width on every architecture. The driver has no architecture restriction in Kconfig, so any 64-bit build with CONFIG_IEEE802154_CA8210_DEBUGFS=y is exposed. Issue has been latent since the driver was added in 2017 because it is most commonly deployed on 32-bit MCUs. Found via a custom Coccinelle semantic patch hunting for short-byte kfifo I/O on byte-mode kfifos used to shuttle pointers.

The 'podman quadlet install --replace' command opens the existing destination file with O_CREATE|O_WRONLY but omits O_TRUNC. When the initial reflink copy attempt fails (common on non-reflink-capable filesystems including many RHEL default XFS configurations), the fallback in ReflinkOrCopy uses io.Copy which performs a non-truncating write. If the original Quadlet is larger than the new Quadlet, the file is not truncated and content from the original is preserved. The command completes with no warning. There is no risk of information leakage as the user already had access to the Quadlet in order to replace it, and in most cases, this would only lead to invalid Quadlet files. However, security-related options from the end of the old Quadlet could be included in the new Quadlet, and if the truncation resulted in a valid Quadlet file, this could result in undesirable behavior. For example, running podman quadlet install --replace to remove a single line from the end of a Quadlet - including security-sensitive content, like AddCapability - will fail, and the option will continue to be used. Further, with Volume Quadlets, this can include additional mounts which can cause content to be

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tipc: fix u16 MTU truncation in media and bearer MTU validation Both TIPC_NL_MEDIA_SET and TIPC_NL_BEARER_SET accept user-supplied MTU values but only enforce a minimum bound, not a maximum. When a user sets the MTU to a value exceeding U16_MAX (65535), it passes validation but is silently truncated when assigned to u16 fields l->mtu and l->advertised_mtu in tipc_link_create(). Values like 65536 (0x10000) truncate to 0, causing a division by zero in tipc_link_set_queue_limits() which computes TIPC_MAX_PUBL / (l->mtu / ITEM_SIZE). Other overflowing values (e.g. 65537-131071) produce small incorrect MTU values, resulting in link malfunction behaviors. Crash stack (triggered as unprivileged user via user namespace): tipc_link_set_queue_limits net/tipc/link.c:2531 tipc_link_create net/tipc/link.c:520 tipc_node_check_dest net/tipc/node.c:1279 tipc_disc_rcv net/tipc/discover.c:252 tipc_rcv net/tipc/node.c:2129 tipc_udp_recv net/tipc/udp_media.c:392 Two independent paths lack the upper bound check: 1. tipc_udp_mtu_bad() -- called from __tip

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/sysfb: Avoid possible truncation with calculating visible size Calculating the visible size of the system framebuffer can result in truncation of the result. The calculation uses 32-bit arithmetics, which can overflow if the values for height and stride are large. Fix the issue by multiplying with mul_u32_u32().

  • Aug 10, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: openvswitch: fix GSO userspace truncation underflow OVS_ACTION_ATTR_TRUNC currently storesCVE-2026-68123 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Critical 9.8

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: openvswitch: fix GSO userspace truncation underflow OVS_ACTION_ATTR_TRUNC currently stores a delta from the original skb length in OVS_CB(skb)->cutlen. When a later userspace action segments a GSO skb, queue_gso_packets() reuses that delta for each smaller segment. A segment can then reach queue_userspace_packet() with cutlen greater than skb->len, underflowing the length passed to skb_zerocopy(). Store the maximum preserved length instead and bound each consumer against the current skb length. Use U32_MAX as the no-truncation sentinel so the value remains valid if skb geometry changes before a consumer handles it.

  • Aug 5, 2026Neo4j's Bolt modern handshake decoder treats an overlong capability bit mask the same way it treats a truncated bit mask.CVE-2026-14587 · Other software · neo4j · reported by 3b236295-4ccd-4a1f-a1c1-a72eecc8d7b6Medium 5.5

Neo4j's Bolt modern handshake decoder treats an overlong capability bit mask the same way it treats a truncated bit mask. When an unauthenticated client sends a selected protocol version followed by 32 continuation bytes in the capability mask, the decoder resets the reader index and waits for more bytes instead of rejecting the protocol message and closing the channel. Because the same unread bytes remain at the front of the decoder buffer, appending a terminating byte later does not recover the connection. The decoder re-reads the same first 32 continuation bytes, returns without producing a handshake-finalization message, and leaves the channel open. This can be triggered before authentication by any client that can reach the Bolt connector.

  • Jul 25, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: NFSv4: include MAY_WRITE in open permission mask for O_TRUNC POSIX requires write permissiCVE-2026-64298 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.1

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: NFSv4: include MAY_WRITE in open permission mask for O_TRUNC POSIX requires write permission to truncate a file, so an open() that specifies O_TRUNC must be authorized for write access regardless of the O_ACCMODE access mode. nfs_open_permission_mask() builds the access mask passed to nfs_may_open(), which is the local authorization gate for OPENs the client serves itself from a cached write delegation via the can_open_delegated() path in nfs4_try_open_cached(). The mask is derived from O_ACCMODE alone, so an open(O_RDONLY | O_TRUNC) against a file the caller cannot write requests only MAY_READ and passes the local check. The OPEN is then satisfied locally and the truncation is issued to the server as a SETATTR(size=0) over the delegation stateid, which the server accepts under standard write-delegation semantics. POSIX requires that this open fail with EACCES. Include MAY_WRITE in the mask whenever O_TRUNC is set so the local check matches the access the server would have enforced.

  • Jul 19, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tracing: Avoid NULL return from hist_field_name() on truncation hist_field_name() returns CVE-2026-64028 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Medium 5.5

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tracing: Avoid NULL return from hist_field_name() on truncation hist_field_name() returns "" everywhere except the fully-qualified VAR_REF/EXPR case, where snprintf() truncation returns NULL early and bypasses the bottom NULL->"" guard. Callers don't expect NULL: strcat(expr, hist_field_name(field, 0)) at trace_events_hist.c:1758 and the strcmp() in the sort-key match loop at :4804 both deref it. system and event_name are bounded by MAX_EVENT_NAME_LEN, but the field name on a VAR_REF is kstrdup'd from a histogram variable name parsed out of the trigger string and has no length cap, so a long enough var name in a fully qualified reference can reach the truncation path. Keep the length check but leave field_name as "" on overflow.
