  • Jul 19, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: gfs2: fix use-after-free in gfs2_qd_dealloc gfs2_qd_dealloc(), called as an RCU callback fCVE-2026-63804 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.8

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: gfs2: fix use-after-free in gfs2_qd_dealloc gfs2_qd_dealloc(), called as an RCU callback from gfs2_qd_dispose(), accesses the superblock object sdp through qd->qd_sbd after freeing qd. It does so to decrement sd_quota_count and wake up sd_kill_wait. However, by the time the RCU callback runs, gfs2_put_super() may have already freed sdp via free_sbd(). This can happen when gfs2_quota_cleanup() is called during unmount: it disposes of quota objects via call_rcu() and then waits on sd_kill_wait with a 60-second timeout. If the timeout expires, or if gfs2_gl_hash_clear() triggers additional qd_put() calls that schedule more RCU callbacks after the wait completes, gfs2_put_super() will proceed to free the superblock while RCU callbacks referencing it are still pending. Add an rcu_barrier() before free_sbd() in gfs2_put_super() to ensure all pending RCU callbacks (including gfs2_qd_dealloc) have completed before the superblock is freed.

  • Jul 19, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ocfs2: reject oversized group bitmap descriptors ocfs2_validate_gd_parent() only bounds bgCVE-2026-63796 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 8.8

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ocfs2: reject oversized group bitmap descriptors ocfs2_validate_gd_parent() only bounds bg_bits against the parent allocator's chain geometry. A malicious descriptor can still claim a bg_size/bg_bits pair that exceeds the bitmap bytes that physically fit in the group descriptor block, so later bitmap scans and bit updates can run past bg_bitmap. Add a physical-cap check based on ocfs2_group_bitmap_size() for the parent allocator type and reject descriptors whose bg_size or bg_bits exceed that capacity. Keep the existing chain geometry check so both the on-disk bitmap layout and the allocator metadata must agree before the descriptor is used. Validation reproduced this kernel report: KASAN use-after-free in _find_next_bit+0x7f/0xc0 Read of size 8 Call trace: dump_stack_lvl+0x66/0xa0 (?:?) print_report+0xd0/0x630 (?:?) _find_next_bit+0x7f/0xc0 (?:?) srso_alias_return_thunk+0x5/0xfbef5 (?:?) __virt_addr_valid+0x188/0x2f0 (?:?) kasan_report+0xe4/0x120 (?:?) ocfs2_find_max_contig_free_bits+0x35/0x70 (fs/ocfs2/suballoc.c:1375) ocfs2_block_group_set_bits+0x472/0x4b0 (fs/ocfs2/suballoc.c:1457) ocfs2

  • Jun 26, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: reject zero bd_oblocknr in nilfs_ioctl_mark_blocks_dirty() nilfs_ioctl_mark_blocksCVE-2026-53320 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Medium 5.5

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: reject zero bd_oblocknr in nilfs_ioctl_mark_blocks_dirty() nilfs_ioctl_mark_blocks_dirty() uses bd_oblocknr to detect dead blocks by comparing it with the current block number bd_blocknr. If they differ, the block is considered dead and skipped. However, bd_oblocknr should never be 0 since block 0 typically stores the primary superblock and is never a valid GC target block. A corrupted ioctl request with bd_oblocknr set to 0 causes the comparison to incorrectly match when the lookup returns -ENOENT and sets bd_blocknr to 0, bypassing the dead block check and calling nilfs_bmap_mark() on a non-existent block. This causes nilfs_btree_do_lookup() to return -ENOENT, triggering the WARN_ON(ret == -ENOENT). Fix this by rejecting ioctl requests with bd_oblocknr set to 0 at the beginning of each iteration. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ocfs2/dlm: fix off-by-one in dlm_match_regions() region comparison The local-vs-remote region comparison loop uses '<=' instead of '<', causing it to read one entry past the valid range of qr_regions. • Jun 24, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: gfs2: add some missing log locking Function gfs2_logd() calls the log flushing functions gCVE-2026-53049 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Critical 9.8

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: gfs2: add some missing log locking Function gfs2_logd() calls the log flushing functions gfs2_ail1_start(), gfs2_ail1_wait(), and gfs2_ail1_empty() without holding sdp->sd_log_flush_lock, but these functions require exclusion against concurrent transactions. To fix that, add a non-locking __gfs2_log_flush() function. Then, in gfs2_logd(), take sdp->sd_log_flush_lock before calling the above mentioned log flushing functions and __gfs2_log_flush().

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ocfs2/dlm: validate qr_numregions in dlm_match_regions() Patch series "ocfs2/dlm: fix two bugs in dlm_match_regions()". In dlm_match_regions(), the qr_numregions field from a DLM_QUERY_REGION network message is used to drive loops over the qr_regions buffer without sufficient validation. This series fixes two issues: - Patch 1 adds a bounds check to reject messages where qr_numregions exceeds O2NM_MAX_REGIONS. The o2net layer only validates message byte length; it does not constrain field values, so a crafted message can set qr_numregions up to 255 and trigger out-of-bounds reads past the 1024-byte qr_regions buffer. - Patch 2 fixes an off-by-one in the local-vs-remote comparison loop, which uses '<=' instead of '<', reading one entry past the valid range even when qr_numregions is within bounds. This patch (of 2): The qr_numregions field from a DLM_QUERY_REGION network message is used directly as loop bounds in dlm_match_regions() without checking against O2NM_MAX_REGIONS. Since qr_regions is sized for at most O2NM_MAX_REGIONS (32) entries, a crafted message with qr_numregions > 32 causes out

  • May 27, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: gfs2: Fix use-after-free in iomap inline data write path The inline data buffer head (dibhCVE-2026-45984 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.8

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: gfs2: Fix use-after-free in iomap inline data write path The inline data buffer head (dibh) is being released prematurely in gfs2_iomap_begin() via release_metapath() while iomap->inline_data still points to dibh->b_data. This causes a use-after-free when iomap_write_end_inline() later attempts to write to the inline data area. The bug sequence: 1. gfs2_iomap_begin() calls gfs2_meta_inode_buffer() to read inode metadata into dibh 2. Sets iomap->inline_data = dibh->b_data + sizeof(struct gfs2_dinode) 3. Calls release_metapath() which calls brelse(dibh), dropping refcount to 0 4. kswapd reclaims the page (~39ms later in the syzbot report) 5. iomap_write_end_inline() tries to memcpy() to iomap->inline_data 6. KASAN detects use-after-free write to freed memory Fix by storing dibh in iomap->private and incrementing its refcount with get_bh() in gfs2_iomap_begin(). The buffer is then properly released in gfs2_iomap_end() after the inline write completes, ensuring the page stays alive for the entire iomap operation. Note: A C reproducer is not available for this issue. The fix is based on analysis of the KASAN

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: gfs2: fix memory leaks in gfs2_fill_super error path Fix two memory leaks in the gfs2_fill_super() error handling path when transitioning a filesystem to read-write mode fails. First leak: kthread objects (thread_struct, task_struct, etc.) When gfs2_freeze_lock_shared() fails after init_threads() succeeds, the created kernel threads (logd and quotad) are never destroyed. This occurs because the fail_per_node label doesn't call gfs2_destroy_threads(). Second leak: quota bitmap buffer (8192 bytes) When gfs2_make_fs_rw() fails after gfs2_quota_init() succeeds but before other operations complete, the allocated quota bitmap is never freed. The fix moves thread cleanup to the fail_per_node label to handle all error paths uniformly. gfs2_destroy_threads() is safe to call unconditionally as it checks for NULL pointers. Quota cleanup is added in gfs2_make_fs_rw() to properly handle the withdrawal case where quota initialization succeeds but the filesystem is then withdrawn. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ocfs2: validate inline data i_size during inode read When reading an inode from disk, ocfs2_validate_inode_block() performs various sanity checks but does not validate the size of inline data. If the filesystem is corrupted, an inode's i_size can exceed the actual inline data capacity (id_count). This causes ocfs2_dir_foreach_blk_id() to iterate beyond the inline data buffer, triggering a use-after-free when accessing directory entries from freed memory. In the syzbot report: - i_size was 1099511627576 bytes (~1TB) - Actual inline data capacity (id_count) is typically <256 bytes - A garbage rec_len (54648) caused ctx->pos to jump out of bounds - This triggered a UAF in ocfs2_check_dir_entry() Fix by adding a validation check in ocfs2_validate_inode_block() to ensure inodes with inline data have i_size <= id_count. This catches the corruption early during inode read and prevents all downstream code from operating on invalid data.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ocfs2: fix out-of-bounds write in ocfs2_write_end_inline KASAN reports a use-after-free write of 4086 bytes in ocfs2_write_end_inline, called from ocfs2_write_end_nolock during a copy_file_range splice fallback on a corrupted ocfs2 filesystem mounted on a loop device. The actual bug is an out-of-bounds write past the inode block buffer, not a true use-after-free. The write overflows into an adjacent freed page, which KASAN reports as UAF. The root cause is that ocfs2_try_to_write_inline_data trusts the on-disk id_count field to determine whether a write fits in inline data. On a corrupted filesystem, id_count can exceed the physical maximum inline data capacity, causing writes to overflow the inode block buffer. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ocfs2: fix use-after-free in ocfs2_fault() when VM_FAULT_RETRY filemap_fault() may drop the mmap_lock before returning VM_FAULT_RETRY, as documented in mm/filemap.c: "If our return value has VM_FAULT_RETRY set, it's because the mmap_lock may be dropped before doing I/O or by lock_folio_maybe_drop_mmap()." When this happens, a concurrent munmap() can call remove_vma() and free the vm_area_struct via RCU. The saved 'vma' pointer in ocfs2_fault() then becomes a dangling pointer, and the subsequent trace_ocfs2_fault() call dereferences it -- a use-after-free. Fix this by saving ip_blkno as a plain integer before calling filemap_fault(), and removing vma from the trace event. Since ip_blkno is copied by value before the lock can be dropped, it remains valid regardless of what happens to the vma or inode afterward.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: fix NULL i_assoc_inode dereference in nilfs_mdt_save_to_shadow_map The DAT inode's btree node cache (i_assoc_inode) is initialized lazily during btree operations. However, nilfs_mdt_save_to_shadow_map() assumes i_assoc_inode is already initialized when copying dirty pages to the shadow map during GC. If NILFS_IOCTL_CLEAN_SEGMENTS is called immediately after mount before any btree operation has occurred on the DAT inode, i_assoc_inode is NULL leading to a general protection fault. Fix this by calling nilfs_attach_btree_node_cache() on the DAT inode in nilfs_dat_read() at mount time, ensuring i_assoc_inode is always initialized before any GC operation can use it.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: Fix potential block overflow that cause system hang When a user executes the FITRIM command, an underflow can occur when calculating nblocks if end_block is too small. Since nblocks is of type sector_t, which is u64, a negative nblocks value will become a very large positive integer. This ultimately leads to the block layer function __blkdev_issue_discard() taking an excessively long time to process the bio chain, and the ns_segctor_sem lock remains held for a long period. This prevents other tasks from acquiring the ns_segctor_sem lock, resulting in the hang reported by syzbot in [1]. If the ending block is too small, typically if it is smaller than 4KiB range, depending on the usage of the segment 0, it may be possible to attempt a discard request beyond the device size causing the hang. Exiting successfully and assign the discarded size (0 in this case) to range->len. Although the start and len values in the user input range are too small, a conservative strategy is adopted here to safely ignore them, which is equivalent to a no-op; it will not perform any trimming and will not throw an error. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ocfs2: fix kernel BUG in ocfs2_find_victim_chain syzbot reported a kernel BUG in ocfs2_find_victim_chain() because the `cl_next_free_rec` field of the allocation chain list (next free slot in the chain list) is 0, triggring the BUG_ON(!cl->cl_next_free_rec) condition in ocfs2_find_victim_chain() and panicking the kernel. To fix this, an if condition is introduced in ocfs2_claim_suballoc_bits(), just before calling ocfs2_find_victim_chain(), the code block in it being executed when either of the following conditions is true: 1. `cl_next_free_rec` is equal to 0, indicating that there are no free chains in the allocation chain list 2. `cl_next_free_rec` is greater than `cl_count` (the total number of chains in the allocation chain list) Either of them being true is indicative of the fact that there are no chains left for usage. This is addressed using ocfs2_error(), which prints the error log for debugging purposes, rather than panicking the kernel.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: fix WARNING in mark_buffer_dirty due to discarded buffer reuse A syzbot stress test using a corrupted disk image reported that mark_buffer_dirty() called from __nilfs_mark_inode_dirty() or nilfs_palloc_commit_alloc_entry() may output a kernel warning, and can panic if the kernel is booted with panic_on_warn. This is because nilfs2 keeps buffer pointers in local structures for some metadata and reuses them, but such buffers may be forcibly discarded by nilfs_clear_dirty_page() in some critical situations. This issue is reported to appear after commit 28a65b49eb53 ("nilfs2: do not write dirty data after degenerating to read-only"), but the issue has potentially existed before. Fix this issue by checking the uptodate flag when attempting to reuse an internally held buffer, and reloading the metadata instead of reusing the buffer if the flag was lost.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: gfs2: Prevent recursive memory reclaim Function new_inode() returns a new inode with inode->i_mapping->gfp_mask set to GFP_HIGHUSER_MOVABLE. This value includes the __GFP_FS flag, so allocations in that address space can recurse into filesystem memory reclaim. We don't want that to happen because it can consume a significant amount of stack memory. Worse than that is that it can also deadlock: for example, in several places, gfs2_unstuff_dinode() is called inside filesystem transactions. This calls filemap_grab_folio(), which can allocate a new folio, which can trigger memory reclaim. If memory reclaim recurses into the filesystem and starts another transaction, a deadlock will ensue. To fix these kinds of problems, prevent memory reclaim from recursing into filesystem code by making sure that the gfp_mask of inode address spaces doesn't include __GFP_FS. The "meta" and resource group address spaces were already using GFP_NOFS as their gfp_mask (which doesn't include __GFP_FS). The default value of GFP_HIGHUSER_MOVABLE is less restrictive than GFP_NOFS, though. To avoid being overly limiting, use the defa

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: fix infinite loop in nilfs_mdt_get_block() If the disk image that nilfs2 mounts is corrupted and a virtual block address obtained by block lookup for a metadata file is invalid, nilfs_bmap_lookup_at_level() may return the same internal return code as -ENOENT, meaning the block does not exist in the metadata file. This duplication of return codes confuses nilfs_mdt_get_block(), causing it to read and create a metadata block indefinitely. In particular, if this happens to the inode metadata file, ifile, semaphore i_rwsem can be left held, causing task hangs in lock_mount. Fix this issue by making nilfs_bmap_lookup_at_level() treat virtual block address translation failures with -ENOENT as metadata corruption instead of returning the error code.

The problem occurs when: 1. copy_file_range() creates a reflinked extent with OCFS2_EXT_REFCOUNTED 2. ioctl(FITRIM) triggers ocfs2_move_extents() 3. __ocfs2_move_extents_range() reads and caches the extent (flags=0x2) 4. ocfs2_move_extent()/ocfs2_defrag_extent() calls __ocfs2_move_extent() which clears OCFS2_EXT_REFCOUNTED flag on disk (flags=0x0) 5. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: replace WARN_ONs by nilfs_error for checkpoint acquisition failure If creation or finalization of a checkpoint fails due to anomalies in the checkpoint metadata on disk, a kernel warning is generated. This patch replaces the WARN_ONs by nilfs_error, so that a kernel, booted with panic_on_warn, does not panic. A nilfs_error is appropriate here to handle the abnormal filesystem condition. This also replaces the detected error codes with an I/O error so that neither of the internal error codes is returned to callers.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: fix potential UAF of struct nilfs_sc_info in nilfs_segctor_thread() The finalization of nilfs_segctor_thread() can race with nilfs_segctor_kill_thread() which terminates that thread, potentially causing a use-after-free BUG as KASAN detected. At the end of nilfs_segctor_thread(), it assigns NULL to "sc_task" member of "struct nilfs_sc_info" to indicate the thread has finished, and then notifies nilfs_segctor_kill_thread() of this using waitqueue "sc_wait_task" on the struct nilfs_sc_info. However, here, immediately after the NULL assignment to "sc_task", it is possible that nilfs_segctor_kill_thread() will detect it and return to continue the deallocation, freeing the nilfs_sc_info structure before the thread does the notification. This fixes the issue by protecting the NULL assignment to "sc_task" and its notification, with spinlock "sc_state_lock" of the struct nilfs_sc_info. Since nilfs_segctor_kill_thread() does a final check to see if "sc_task" is NULL with "sc_state_lock" locked, this can eliminate the race.

  • Sep 18, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: fix sysfs interface lifetime The current nilfs2 sysfs support has issues with the CVE-2023-53440 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.8

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: fix sysfs interface lifetime The current nilfs2 sysfs support has issues with the timing of creation and deletion of sysfs entries, potentially leading to null pointer dereferences, use-after-free, and lockdep warnings. Some of the sysfs attributes for nilfs2 per-filesystem instance refer to metadata file "cpfile", "sufile", or "dat", but nilfs_sysfs_create_device_group that creates those attributes is executed before the inodes for these metadata files are loaded, and nilfs_sysfs_delete_device_group which deletes these sysfs entries is called after releasing their metadata file inodes. Therefore, access to some of these sysfs attributes may occur outside of the lifetime of these metadata files, resulting in inode NULL pointer dereferences or use-after-free. In addition, the call to nilfs_sysfs_create_device_group() is made during the locking period of the semaphore "ns_sem" of nilfs object, so the shrinker call caused by the memory allocation for the sysfs entries, may derive lock dependencies "ns_sem" -> (shrinker) -> "locks acquired in nilfs_evict_inode()". Since nilfs2 may acquire "ns_sem" deep in

  • Sep 17, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: do not write dirty data after degenerating to read-only According to syzbot's repoCVE-2023-53337 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Medium 5.5

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: do not write dirty data after degenerating to read-only According to syzbot's report, mark_buffer_dirty() called from nilfs_segctor_do_construct() outputs a warning with some patterns after nilfs2 detects metadata corruption and degrades to read-only mode. After such read-only degeneration, page cache data may be cleared through nilfs_clear_dirty_page() which may also clear the uptodate flag for their buffer heads. However, even after the degeneration, log writes are still performed by unmount processing etc., which causes mark_buffer_dirty() to be called for buffer heads without the "uptodate" flag and causes the warning. Since any writes should not be done to a read-only file system in the first place, this fixes the warning in mark_buffer_dirty() by letting nilfs_segctor_do_construct() abort early if in read-only mode. This also changes the retry check of nilfs_segctor_write_out() to avoid unnecessary log write retries if it detects -EROFS that nilfs_segctor_do_construct() returned.

Previously, nilfs_evict_inode() could cause use-after-free read for nilfs_root if inodes are left in "garbage_list" and released by nilfs_dispose_list at the end of nilfs_detach_log_writer(), and this bug was fixed by commit 9b5a04ac3ad9 ("nilfs2: fix use-after-free bug of nilfs_root in nilfs_evict_inode()"). • Sep 5, 2025fs2 is a compositional, streaming I/O library for Scala.CVE-2025-58369 · Other software · typelevel · reported by GitHubMedium 5.3

fs2 is a compositional, streaming I/O library for Scala. Versions up to and including 2.5.12, 3.0.0-M1 through 3.12.2, and 3.13.0-M1 through 3.13.0-M6 are vulnerable to denial of service attacks though TLS sessions using fs2-io on the JVM using the fs2.io.net.tls package. When establishing a TLS session, if one side of the connection shuts down `write` while the peer side is awaiting more data to progress the TLS handshake, the peer side will spin loop on the socket read, fully utilizing a CPU. The CPU is consumed until the overall connection is closed, potentially shutting down a fs2-io powered server. This issue is fixed in versions 2.5.13, 3.12.1, and 3.13.0-M7.
