In NLnet Labs Unbound up to and including 1.26.0, a vulnerability was found in that can progressively corrupt heap memory and under certain systems and compilation options could lead to remote code execution. The vulnerability starts when CNAME synthesis during an upstream response needs to enforce(rewrite) a max TTL value in the packet buffer. Coupled with a compression pointer that points to the overwritten value and invalidates the domain name, it leads to an error path that does not properly move the buffer position and allows for the heap buffer overflow. Since this is heavily reliant on heap memory layout, results are memory corruption that eventually leads to a crash and under specific systems and compilation options remote code execution.

In NLnet Labs Unbound up to and including 1.26.0, a vulnerability was found in the DNSSEC validator that enables denial of service and possible remote code execution as a result of digesting DNSKEYs. A DNSKEY with an owner compression pointer to its own RDATA can overflow the digest buffer. Remote code execution is possible through attacker controlled data. An adversary can exploit the vulnerability by controlling a malicious zone and querying a vulnerable Unbound.

Sep 16, 2026In NLnet Labs Unbound up to and including 1.26.0, a 255 length query name with a large TCP response can lead to a heap buffer overflow during the RRSet canonicaCVE-2026-81634 · Other software · NLnet Labs · reported by sep@nlnetlabs.nlHigh 7.5
In NLnet Labs Unbound up to and including 1.26.0, a 255 length query name with a large TCP response can lead to a heap buffer overflow during the RRSet canonicalisation routine. This is caused by missing to add the first owner name into the buffer length check. A malicious actor operating a malicious name server or tampering with an incoming response to Unbound (canonicalisation happens before DNSSEC validation), can trigger the vulnerability.

Sep 16, 2026NLnet Labs Unbound 1.22.0 up to and including 1.26.1, has a use-after-free vulnerability when compiled for DNS-over-QUIC support with '--with-libngtcp2'.CVE-2026-78227 · Other software · NLnet Labs · reported by sep@nlnetlabs.nlMedium 6.5
NLnet Labs Unbound 1.22.0 up to and including 1.26.1, has a use-after-free vulnerability when compiled for DNS-over-QUIC support with '--with-libngtcp2'. Each DoQ stream owns an output buffer that holds the DNS response. ngtcp2's retransmission buffer keeps a shallow pointer into the output buffer for as long as a STREAM frame may be resent. On a client RESET_STREAM, the output buffer is freed but ngtcp2 still holds the matching retransmission entries. The next PTO timeout makes ngtcp2 re-encode the STREAM frame and copy from the freed buffer. A malicious actor that can query Unbound over DoQ and that withholds ACKs, sends RESET_STREAM, and waits for PTO, reaches this use-after-free with no privilege. This leads to retransmissions against freed memory and eventually an abnormal server exit under a 20-query spray.

In NLnet Labs Unbound 1.13.2 up to and including 1.26.1, a vulnerability in ZONEMD configured zones (zonemd-check: yes) which are located below (but not at) a trust anchor allow for an attack window where (tampered with) zone contents are served (or stored to disk) prior to the ZONEMD integrity check. This is caused by the needed DS/DNSKEY asynchronous resolution that needs to happen before the ZONEMD check completes. If a zonefile is written to disk (zonefile: option) while the ZONEMD check failed, the tampered data are reloaded on startup and available until ZONEMD verification concludes again. If verification fails, the data is not served any more but still persists on disk for future reloads.

Sep 16, 2026In NLnetLabs Unbound 1.20.0 up to and including 1.26.0, a vulnerability on the 'serve-expired' code path can cause a double decrement on the 'wait-limit' counteCVE-2026-77860 · Other software · NLnet Labs · reported by sep@nlnetlabs.nlLow 3.7
In NLnetLabs Unbound 1.20.0 up to and including 1.26.0, a vulnerability on the 'serve-expired' code path can cause a double decrement on the 'wait-limit' counter per client IP essentially bypassing one of the counter measures that was introduced for DNSBomb (CVE-2024-33655). A malicious actor can exploit this by controlling an authoritative zone with short TTL, so cached entries expire quickly. Each 'slow' query, one the attacker's authoritative never answers, is followed by one query for an expired cached name, which is answered immediately via the 'serve-expired' path and decrements the counter twice. This second query was named 'pump'. By alternating slow queries and pumps, the attacker keeps the per-client counter at or below the configured 'wait-limit' indefinitely, and can hold an arbitrary number of pending queries from a single source IP, up to the global mesh quota (num-queries-per-thread); eventually bypassing one of the counter measures introduced for DNSBomb (CVE-2024-33655). This vulnerability is present on the 'serve-expired' code path.

OOM Denial of Service via Unbounded Map Pre-Sizing in Apache OpenNLP SymSpellModelSerializer Versions Affected: - 3.0.0-M4 - 3.0.0-M5 (The opennlp-spellcheck extension was introduced in 3.0.0-M4. Releases 1.x and 2.x do not contain the affected code.) Description: The SymSpellModelSerializer.create() method reads two 32-bit signed integer count fields (unigramCount and bigramCount) from a binary SymSpell model stream and passes each value directly to LinkedHashMap.newLinkedHashMap() after validating only that it is non-negative. No upper bound is applied, so the count is fully attacker-controlled when the model file originates from an untrusted source. A crafted .bin model file in which either count field is set to Integer.MAX_VALUE (or any value large enough to exhaust the available heap) causes the map to be pre-sized to a capacity of 2^30 entries. The oversized backing array is allocated on the first put() into that map, requesting 4–8 GB depending on whether compressed oops are in effect, and the load fails with an OutOfMemoryError. Because the count fields sit immediately after a fixed-size header (magic, format version, three UTF strings, the configuration fields, and

Sep 4, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: HID: magicmouse: prevent unbounded recursion in magicmouse_raw_event() magicmouse_raw_evenCVE-2026-80783 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: HID: magicmouse: prevent unbounded recursion in magicmouse_raw_event() magicmouse_raw_event() handles DOUBLE_REPORT_ID (0xf7) packets, which pack two touch reports into one, by splitting the packet and calling itself on each half. The only guard against runaway recursion is a "size < 1" check, which stops zero-sized calls but does not bound the recursion depth. A malicious HID device that matches this driver can send a report starting with DOUBLE_REPORT_ID and filled with the sequence [0xf7, 0x00]. Each level consumes two bytes and recurses on the remainder, so an incoming report of up to HID_MAX_BUFFER_SIZE (16 KiB) drives roughly 8000 nested calls. That easily exhausts the 16 KiB kernel stack, leading to a stack overflow: a panic with CONFIG_VMAP_STACK, or memory corruption without it. A double report only ever wraps two normal reports; it is never legitimately nested. Refuse to re-enter the DOUBLE_REPORT_ID case from a recursive call so the recursion depth is bounded to two, while all valid packets keep being parsed exactly as before.

Sep 4, 2026Robots::Validate versions from 0.3.2 before 0.3.11 for Perl allow unbounded outbound DNS queries per validation via a forward-confirmation loop that does not boCVE-2026-82309 · Other software · reported by 9b29abf9-4ab0-4765-b253-1875cd9b441eMedium 4.3
Robots::Validate versions from 0.3.2 before 0.3.11 for Perl allow unbounded outbound DNS queries per validation via a forward-confirmation loop that does not bound the names it queries. _check_dns issues one PTR query for the client address, keeps the returned names matching the rule's domain, and issues a forward query for each until one resolves back to that address. Nothing bounds that list, and a client controls the reverse zone for its own address, so it chooses how many names the PTR answer holds. Net::DNS refetches a truncated answer over TCP by default, so the 512-byte UDP payload does not cap it either. Any client whose User-Agent matches a rule with a domain reaches _check_dns. Each forward name is distinct and client-chosen, so every query misses the local cache and is resolved against the authoritative servers for that domain. The queries are synchronous, so the caller is held until all of them answer or time out.

Sep 1, 2026Net::DNS versions before 1.57 for Perl allow memory exhaustion via unbounded recursion in sig_data when re-encoding a message with a misplaced TSIG record.CVE-2026-81928 · Other software · reported by 9b29abf9-4ab0-4765-b253-1875cd9b441eHigh 7.5
Net::DNS versions before 1.57 for Perl allow memory exhaustion via unbounded recursion in sig_data when re-encoding a message with a misplaced TSIG record. sig_data signs a message by re-encoding it, and removes TSIG records only from the additional section. A TSIG decoded into the answer or authority section survives that step and is signed again, so encoding re-enters sig_data with no termination condition. Decoding does not reject such a message: a TSIG that is not the last record on the wire raises "misplaced or corrupt TSIG", but the error is caught, reported as a warning, and the record is left in the packet. RFC 8945 section 5.2 requires the message to be dropped. The recursion is reached only when the decoded TSIG carries an empty MAC, since a MAC recovered from the wire short-circuits the signing step. It is reached only from code that re-encodes a message it decoded, such as a forwarder or a proxy. A decoded message that is never re-encoded is unaffected. Message direction does not matter: a query reaches the same path as a response. Each cycle re-encodes the whole message, so fewer than 100 bytes on the wire exhaust available memory and terminate the process.

Aug 31, 2026HTML::FormFu versions through 2.08 for Perl allow resource exhaustion via an unbounded repeat count from the query string in Repeatable elements.CVE-2026-19873 · Other software · reported by 9b29abf9-4ab0-4765-b253-1875cd9b441eHigh 7.5
HTML::FormFu versions through 2.08 for Perl allow resource exhaustion via an unbounded repeat count from the query string in Repeatable elements. When a Repeatable element has counter_name set, its process method reads the repeat count from the named query string parameter, checks only that it is a positive integer, and passes it to repeat, which deep-clones the element's child subtree once per iteration. Nothing caps the value, and no attribute lets an application impose a limit. The count is read on every request, before the form decides whether it was submitted, so a plain GET reaches the clone loop with no credentials, no session and no request body. Nesting multiplies: a Repeatable inside a Repeatable takes a counter at each level, so an outer and an inner value of 100 build 10,000 clones. Once the form is submitted, each cloned field's constraints scan the whole element tree in _find_field_value, so cost grows faster than linearly with the count. A single request exhausts memory and CPU. The latest release on CPAN is 2.07, from 2018. Version 2.08 exists only in the git repository.

Aug 20, 2026Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling vulnerability in mtrudel bandit allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to pin an unbounded number of HTTCVE-2026-74836 · Other software · mtrudel · reported by 6b3ad84c-e1a6-4bf7-a703-f496b71e49dbHigh 8.7
Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling vulnerability in mtrudel bandit allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to pin an unbounded number of HTTP/2 stream processes indefinitely via connection-level flow control. When a stream's response body outruns the HTTP/2 connection-level send window (default 65,535 bytes, shared across all streams on the connection), Bandit.HTTP2.Connection queues the remaining bytes and a reply closure in pending_sends and the stream process blocks forever inside a synchronous call to the connection process. Nothing bounds that wait and nothing purges the queue: a client RST_STREAM for the blocked stream is delivered to its mailbox but never read while it is stuck inside the call, so cancelling frees nothing, and periodic PING frames keep the transport-level read timeout from ever firing. The equivalent block on the stream-level send window is already bounded at 15 seconds; the connection-level path had no such bound. Each stalled stream pins its process, Plug state, and any resource the Plug holds across the blocked write, such as a pooled upstream connection in a reverse-proxy Plug. The attacker chooses any endpoint whose response exceeds

Aug 16, 2026Net::OAuth versions before 0.32 for Perl allow memory exhaustion via unbounded caching of failed module loads in smart_require.CVE-2026-72888 · Other software · reported by 9b29abf9-4ab0-4765-b253-1875cd9b441eMedium 6.5
Net::OAuth versions before 0.32 for Perl allow memory exhaustion via unbounded caching of failed module loads in smart_require. smart_require stores results in a process-global hash with no bound and no eviction, and keeps an entry for every class name it is asked about, including names that failed to load, because the return value of the failed eval is stored before the error is checked. The key comes off the wire on the server side: _signature_method_class builds the class name from the signature_method parameter of the incoming message, and verify resolves it before any signature is checked. A remote client chooses both how many entries are created and how long each key is. In a persistent server the hash grows for the life of the worker process until it exhausts memory. Header size limits bound the key length on the Authorization header path, but not on a POST body.

Aug 15, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/slab: prevent unbounded recursion in free path with new kmalloc type Commit 280ea9c3154CVE-2026-74576 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.5
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/slab: prevent unbounded recursion in free path with new kmalloc type Commit 280ea9c3154b ("mm/slab: avoid allocating slabobj_ext array from its own slab") avoided recursive allocation of obj_exts from kmalloc caches of the same size, by bumping the obj_exts array's allocation size whenever the array size equals the size of the object being allocated. However, as reported by Danielle Costantino and Shakeel Butt, even slabs from kmalloc caches of different sizes can form a cycle by allocating obj_exts arrays from each other [1]: What happened: a KMALLOC_NORMAL slab's obj_exts array (used by allocation profiling / memcg accounting) is itself kmalloc()'d from a KMALLOC_NORMAL cache, so the "slab holds another slab's obj_exts array" relation can form cycles. With sizeof(struct slabobj_ext) == 16 and the host's geometry: - kmalloc-512 has 64 objects/slab -> array is 64*16 == 1024 bytes, served from kmalloc-1k; - kmalloc-1k has 32 objects/slab -> array is 32*16 == 512 bytes, served from kmalloc-512. A kmalloc-512 slab and a kmalloc-1k slab therefore hold each other's obj_exts array. D

Aug 15, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/sched: cls_bpf: prevent unbounded recursion in offload rollback Quan Sun reported [1] CVE-2026-74382 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/sched: cls_bpf: prevent unbounded recursion in offload rollback Quan Sun reported [1] a stack overflow in cls_bpf_offload_cmd(). Reproducer on netdevsim: add a skip_sw cls_bpf filter, set the bpf_tc_accept debugfs knob to 0, then `tc filter replace`. The replace calls tc_setup_cb_replace() which fails. cls_bpf_offload_cmd() then swaps prog/oldprog and recursively calls itself to roll back. But bpf_tc_accept=0 makes the rollback fail too, which triggers yet another rollback frame with the same arguments, and so on until the stack is exhausted. bpf_tc_accept is just a convenient knob for the reproducer. Any driver whose tc_setup_cb_replace() fails twice in a row can hit the same loop, so this is not a netdevsim-only issue. Two ways to fix it: 1) Have the rollback call tc_setup_cb_add() on oldprog instead of re-entering cls_bpf_offload_cmd(). 2) Mark the rollback frame with a flag and skip a second-level rollback from inside it. Go with (2). It is the smaller change and keeps the original behaviour: the rollback still goes through tc_setup_cb_replace(), so the driver gets one real chance to re

Aug 15, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xprtrdma: Fix bcall rep leak and unbounded peek rpcrdma_is_bcall() decodes a reply's firstCVE-2026-72466 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Critical 9.8
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xprtrdma: Fix bcall rep leak and unbounded peek rpcrdma_is_bcall() decodes a reply's first words to decide whether the frame is a backchannel call. Two issues in that decode path let a short or malformed reply leak the receive buffer and drain the Receive queue. First, the speculative peek p = xdr_inline_decode(xdr, 0); /* five p++ reads follow */ asks xdr_inline_decode() for zero bytes, which returns xdr->p without consulting xdr->end. The five subsequent __be32 reads can then walk up to 20 bytes past the wire payload into stale regbuf contents and misclassify the reply as a backchannel call. Second, after the post-peek p = xdr_inline_decode(xdr, 3 * sizeof(*p)); if (unlikely(!p)) return true; the short-header arm returns true without calling rpcrdma_bc_receive_call(). The contract with the caller is that a true return transfers ownership of rep to the backchannel path: rpcrdma_reply_handler() if (rpcrdma_is_bcall(r_xprt, rep)) return; /* bare return, skips out_post */ ... out_post: rpcrdma_post_recvs(r_xprt, credits + ...); Becau

Aug 12, 2026Net::CIDR::Set versions before 0.23 for Perl allow memory exhaustion and malformed set ranges via unbounded IPv6 prefix lengths.CVE-2026-19566 · Other software · RRWO · reported by 9b29abf9-4ab0-4765-b253-1875cd9b441eHigh 7.5
Net::CIDR::Set versions before 0.23 for Perl allow memory exhaustion and malformed set ranges via unbounded IPv6 prefix lengths. The _encode method accepts any prefix length matching `(0|[1-9][0-9]*)` and passes it to _width2bits(), which builds the mask as `'1' x ($width + 8)`, one character per bit. The _inc() method then unpacks the packed mask into a Perl array of one scalar per byte, so the prefix length alone sets the allocation size: `::/100000000` builds a 100 MB string and a 12.5 million element array. The value being tested is parsed, not just the configured ranges: contains() builds a set from its argument, and _guess_coder() tries the IPv4 coder and then the IPv6 coder, so an IPv4-only set expands an oversized IPv6 prefix length before the mixed address width check rejects it. Any caller that passes untrusted input to contains() or add() can exhaust process memory. A prefix length above 128 is also stored as a range that does not match the requested block: 2001:db8::/129 stringifies back unchanged, contains() of its own base address returns false, and removing it from a set drops the base address while the set still prints as covering it.
