May 1, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: gpib: lpvo_usb: fix memory leak on disconnect The driver iterates over the registered USB CVE-2026-31760 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Medium 5.5
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: gpib: lpvo_usb: fix memory leak on disconnect The driver iterates over the registered USB interfaces during GPIB attach and takes a reference to their USB devices until a match is found. These references are never released which leads to a memory leak when devices are disconnected. Fix the leak by dropping the unnecessary references.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: gadget: u_ether: Fix race between gether_disconnect and eth_stop A race condition between gether_disconnect() and eth_stop() leads to a NULL pointer dereference. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mmc: vub300: fix use-after-free on disconnect The vub300 driver maintains an explicit reference count for the controller and its driver data and the last reference can in theory be dropped after the driver has been unbound. This specifically means that the controller allocation must not be device managed as that can lead to use-after-free. Note that the lifetime is currently also incorrectly tied the parent USB device rather than interface, which can lead to memory leaks if the driver is unbound without its device being physically disconnected (e.g. on probe deferral). Fix both issues by reverting to non-managed allocation of the controller.

Apr 24, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: hwmon: (powerz) Fix use-after-free on USB disconnect After powerz_disconnect() frees the UCVE-2026-31582 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.8
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: hwmon: (powerz) Fix use-after-free on USB disconnect After powerz_disconnect() frees the URB and releases the mutex, a subsequent powerz_read() call can acquire the mutex and call powerz_read_data(), which dereferences the freed URB pointer. Fix by: - Setting priv->urb to NULL in powerz_disconnect() so that powerz_read_data() can detect the disconnected state. - Adding a !priv->urb check at the start of powerz_read_data() to return -ENODEV on a disconnected device. - Moving usb_set_intfdata() before hwmon registration so the disconnect handler can always find the priv pointer.

Apr 24, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: 6fire: fix use-after-free on disconnect In usb6fire_chip_abort(), the chip struct isCVE-2026-31581 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.8
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: 6fire: fix use-after-free on disconnect In usb6fire_chip_abort(), the chip struct is allocated as the card's private data (via snd_card_new with sizeof(struct sfire_chip)). When snd_card_free_when_closed() is called and no file handles are open, the card and embedded chip are freed synchronously. The subsequent chip->card = NULL write then hits freed slab memory. Call trace: usb6fire_chip_abort sound/usb/6fire/chip.c:59 [inline] usb6fire_chip_disconnect+0x348/0x358 sound/usb/6fire/chip.c:182 usb_unbind_interface+0x1a8/0x88c drivers/usb/core/driver.c:458 ... hub_event+0x1a04/0x4518 drivers/usb/core/hub.c:5953 Fix by moving the card lifecycle out of usb6fire_chip_abort() and into usb6fire_chip_disconnect(). The card pointer is saved in a local before any teardown, snd_card_disconnect() is called first to prevent new opens, URBs are aborted while chip is still valid, and snd_card_free_when_closed() is called last so chip is never accessed after the card may be freed.

Mar 25, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: udp: Unhash auto-bound connected sk from 4-tuple hash table when disconnected.CVE-2026-23331 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Medium 5.5
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: udp: Unhash auto-bound connected sk from 4-tuple hash table when disconnected. Let's say we bind() an UDP socket to the wildcard address with a non-zero port, connect() it to an address, and disconnect it from the address. bind() sets SOCK_BINDPORT_LOCK on sk->sk_userlocks (but not SOCK_BINDADDR_LOCK), and connect() calls udp_lib_hash4() to put the socket into the 4-tuple hash table. Then, __udp_disconnect() calls sk->sk_prot->rehash(sk). It computes a new hash based on the wildcard address and moves the socket to a new slot in the 4-tuple hash table, leaving a garbage in the chain that no packet hits. Let's remove such a socket from 4-tuple hash table when disconnected. Note that udp_sk(sk)->udp_portaddr_hash needs to be udpated after udp_hash4_dec(hslot2) in udp_unhash4().

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: landlock: Fix handling of disconnected directories Disconnected files or directories can appear when they are visible and opened from a bind mount, but have been renamed or moved from the source of the bind mount in a way that makes them inaccessible from the mount point (i.e. out of scope). Previously, access rights tied to files or directories opened through a disconnected directory were collected by walking the related hierarchy down to the root of the filesystem, without taking into account the mount point because it couldn't be found. This could lead to inconsistent access results, potential access right widening, and hard-to-debug renames, especially since such paths cannot be printed. For a sandboxed task to create a disconnected directory, it needs to have write access (i.e. FS_MAKE_REG, FS_REMOVE_FILE, and FS_REFER) to the underlying source of the bind mount, and read access to the related mount point. Because a sandboxed task cannot acquire more access rights than those defined by its Landlock domain, this could lead to inconsistent access rights due to missing permissions that should be inherited f

Dec 4, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: most: usb: Fix use-after-free in hdm_disconnect hdm_disconnect() calls most_deregister_intCVE-2025-40223 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: most: usb: Fix use-after-free in hdm_disconnect hdm_disconnect() calls most_deregister_interface(), which eventually unregisters the MOST interface device with device_unregister(iface->dev). If that drops the last reference, the device core may call release_mdev() immediately while hdm_disconnect() is still executing. The old code also freed several mdev-owned allocations in hdm_disconnect() and then performed additional put_device() calls. Depending on refcount order, this could lead to use-after-free or double-free when release_mdev() ran (or when unregister paths also performed puts). Fix by moving the frees of mdev-owned allocations into release_mdev(), so they happen exactly once when the device is truly released, and by dropping the extra put_device() calls in hdm_disconnect() that are redundant after device_unregister() and most_deregister_interface(). This addresses the KASAN slab-use-after-free reported by syzbot in hdm_disconnect(). See report and stack traces in the bug link below.

This patch has a subtle bug that can cause the IPMI driver to go into an infinite loop if the BMC misbehaves in a certain way. Apparently certain BMCs do misbehave this way because several reports have come in recently about this.

Oct 30, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: vfs: Don't leak disconnected dentries on umount When user calls open_by_handle_at() on somCVE-2025-40105 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.8
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: vfs: Don't leak disconnected dentries on umount When user calls open_by_handle_at() on some inode that is not cached, we will create disconnected dentry for it. If such dentry is a directory, exportfs_decode_fh_raw() will then try to connect this dentry to the dentry tree through reconnect_path(). It may happen for various reasons (such as corrupted fs or race with rename) that the call to lookup_one_unlocked() in reconnect_one() will fail to find the dentry we are trying to reconnect and instead create a new dentry under the parent. Now this dentry will not be marked as disconnected although the parent still may well be disconnected (at least in case this inconsistency happened because the fs is corrupted and .. doesn't point to the real parent directory). This creates inconsistency in disconnected flags but AFAICS it was mostly harmless. At least until commit f1ee616214cb ("VFS: don't keep disconnected dentries on d_anon") which removed adding of most disconnected dentries to sb->s_anon list. Thus after this commit cleanup of disconnected dentries implicitely relies on the fact that dput() will immediately recl

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mptcp: fix disconnect vs accept race Despite commit 0ad529d9fd2b ("mptcp: fix possible divide by zero in recvmsg()"), the mptcp protocol is still prone to a race between disconnect() (or shutdown) and accept. The root cause is that the mentioned commit checks the msk-level flag, but mptcp_stream_accept() does acquire the msk-level lock, as it can rely directly on the first subflow lock. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: chipidea: udc: disconnect/reconnect from host when do suspend/resume Shawn and John reported a hang issue during system suspend as below: - USB gadget is enabled as Ethernet - There is data transfer over USB Ethernet (scp a big file between host and device) - Device is going in/out suspend (echo mem > /sys/power/state) The root cause is the USB device controller is suspended but the USB bus is still active which caused the USB host continues to transfer data with device and the device continues to queue USB requests (in this case, a delayed TCP ACK packet trigger the issue) after controller is suspended, however the USB controller clock is already gated off. Then if udc driver access registers after that point, the system will hang. The correct way to avoid such issue is to disconnect device from host when the USB bus is not at suspend state. Then the host will receive disconnect event and stop data transfer in time. To continue make USB gadget device work after system resume, this will reconnect device automatically. To make usb wakeup work if USB bus is a

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usbnet: Fix linkwatch use-after-free on disconnect usbnet uses the work usbnet_deferred_kevent() to perform tasks which may sleep. On disconnect, completion of the work was originally awaited in ->ndo_stop(). But in 2003, that was moved to ->disconnect() by historic commit "[PATCH] USB: usbnet, prevent exotic rtnl deadlock": https://git.kernel.org/tglx/history/c/0f138bbfd83c The change was made because back then, the kernel's workqueue implementation did not allow waiting for a single work. One had to wait for completion of *all* work by calling flush_scheduled_work(), and that could deadlock when waiting for usbnet_deferred_kevent() with rtnl_mutex held in ->ndo_stop(). The commit solved one problem but created another: It causes a use-after-free in USB Ethernet drivers aqc111.c, asix_devices.c, ax88179_178a.c, ch9200.c and smsc75xx.c: * If the drivers receive a link change interrupt immediately before disconnect, they raise EVENT_LINK_RESET in their (non-sleepable) ->status() callback and schedule usbnet_deferred_kevent(). * usbnet_deferred_kevent() invokes the driver's ->link_reset() callback,

This causes the for loop in cfg80211_get_bss() to be bypassed, so the function returns NULL (check line 1424 of net/wireless/scan.c), causing the WARN_ON() in ieee80211_ibss_csa_beacon() to get triggered (check line 500 of net/mac80211/ibss.c), which was consequently reported on the syzkaller dashboard. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: streamzap: fix race between device disconnection and urb callback Syzkaller has reported a general protection fault at function ir_raw_event_store_with_filter(). This crash is caused by a NULL pointer dereference of dev->raw pointer, even though it is checked for NULL in the same function, which means there is a race condition. It occurs due to the incorrect order of actions in the streamzap_disconnect() function: rc_unregister_device() is called before usb_kill_urb(). The dev->raw pointer is freed and set to NULL in rc_unregister_device(), and only after that usb_kill_urb() waits for in-progress requests to finish. If rc_unregister_device() is called while streamzap_callback() handler is not finished, this can lead to accessing freed resources. Thus rc_unregister_device() should be called after usb_kill_urb(). Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with Syzkaller.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/mlx5: HWS, change error flow on matcher disconnect Currently, when firmware failure occurs during matcher disconnect flow, the error flow of the function reconnects the matcher back and returns an error, which continues running the calling function and eventually frees the matcher that is being disconnected. This leads to a case where we have a freed matcher on the matchers list, which in turn leads to use-after-free and eventual crash. This patch fixes that by not trying to reconnect the matcher back when some FW command fails during disconnect. Note that we're dealing here with FW error. We can't overcome this problem. This might lead to bad steering state (e.g. wrong connection between matchers), and will also lead to resource leakage, as it is the case with any other error handling during resource destruction. However, the goal here is to allow the driver to continue and not crash the machine with use-after-free error.

Feb 26, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nbd: don't allow reconnect after disconnect Following process can cause nbd_config UAF: 1CVE-2025-21731 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.8
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nbd: don't allow reconnect after disconnect Following process can cause nbd_config UAF: 1) grab nbd_config temporarily; 2) nbd_genl_disconnect() flush all recv_work() and release the initial reference: nbd_genl_disconnect nbd_disconnect_and_put nbd_disconnect flush_workqueue(nbd->recv_workq) if (test_and_clear_bit(NBD_RT_HAS_CONFIG_REF, ...)) nbd_config_put -> due to step 1), reference is still not zero 3) nbd_genl_reconfigure() queue recv_work() again; nbd_genl_reconfigure config = nbd_get_config_unlocked(nbd) if (!config) -> succeed if (!test_bit(NBD_RT_BOUND, ...)) -> succeed nbd_reconnect_socket queue_work(nbd->recv_workq, &args->work) 4) step 1) release the reference; 5) Finially, recv_work() will trigger UAF: recv_work nbd_config_put(nbd) -> nbd_config is freed atomic_dec(&config->recv_threads) -> UAF Fix the problem by clearing NBD_RT_BOUND in nbd_genl_disconnect(), so that nbd_genl_reconfigure() will fail.

Where this comes from: the exploited list is CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Everything else is the whole National Vulnerability Database, where each record is published by the team that found the bug (Wordfence, Patchstack, WPScan, the vendors themselves and others); we show who. Exploit odds are FIRST’s EPSS, updated daily. Titles and categories are ours, so check the linked record before acting on a detail. For a write-up of the big ones, see our advisories. Every vendor, and every WordPress plugin and theme with a recorded flaw, also has its own page. All of it is free to reuse as JSON, CSV or RSS.
