In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: crypto: ccp - Do not initialize SNP for SEV ioctls Sashiko notes: > if SEV initialization fails and KVM is actively running normal VMs, could a > userspace process trigger this code path via /dev/sev ioctls (e.g., > SEV_PDH_GEN) and zero out MSR_VM_HSAVE_PA globally? Would the next VMRUN > execution for an active VM trigger a general protection fault and crash the > host? sev_move_to_init_state() is called for ioctls requiring only SEV firmware: SEV_PEK_GEN, SEV_PDH_GEN, SEV_PEK_CSR, SEV_PEK_CERT_IMPORT, and SEV_PDH_CERT_EXPORT. After the firmware command, it does SEV_SHUTDOWN on the SEV firmware. Since these commands do not require SNP to be initialized, skip it by calling __sev_platform_init_locked() which only initializes the SEV firmware. This way SNP is not Initialized at all, and HSAVE_PA is not cleared. The previous code saved any SEV initialization firmware error to init_args.error and then threw it away and hardcoded the return value of INVALID_PLATFORM_STATE regardless of the real firmware error. This patch changes it to surface the underlying error, which is hopefully both more useful and doesn't ca

Would the next VMRUN > execution for an active VM trigger a general protection fault and crash the > host? The SNP_COMMIT command does not require the firmware to be in any particular state. Skip initializing it if it was previously uninitialized. The SEV-SNP firmware specification doc 56860 does not mention SNP_COMMIT in Table 5 as a command that is allowed in the UNINIT state, but it is in fact allowed and a future documentation update will reflect that.

Would the next VMRUN > execution for an active VM trigger a general protection fault and crash the > host? The SEV firmware docs for SNP_VLEK_LOAD note: > On SNP_SHUTDOWN, the VLEK is deleted. That is, the initialization/shutdown wrapper here is pointless, because the firmware immediately throws away the key anyway. Instead, refuse to do anything if SNP has not been previously initialized. This is an ABI break: before, this was a no-op and almost certainly a mistake by userspace, and now it returns -ENODEV. ABI compatibility could be maintained here by simply returning 0 in the check instead.

  • Jul 25, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: crypto: ccp - Do not initialize SNP for ioctl(SNP_CONFIG) Sashiko notes: > if SEV initialCVE-2026-64307 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Medium 5.5

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: crypto: ccp - Do not initialize SNP for ioctl(SNP_CONFIG) Sashiko notes: > if SEV initialization fails and KVM is actively running normal VMs, could a > userspace process trigger this code path via /dev/sev ioctls (e.g., > SEV_PDH_GEN) and zero out MSR_VM_HSAVE_PA globally? Would the next VMRUN > execution for an active VM trigger a general protection fault and crash the > host? Refuse to re-try initialization if SNP is not already initialized for SNP_CONFIG. This is technically an ABI break: before if SNP initialization failed it could be transparently retriggered by this ioctl, and if no VMs were running, everything worked fine. Hopefully this is enough of a corner case that nobody will notice, but someone does, there are a few options: * do something like symbol_get() for kvm and refuse to initialize if KVM is loaded * check each cpu's HSAVE_PA for non-zero data before re-initializing * once initialization has failed, continue to refuse to initialize until the ccp module is unloaded

  • Jul 13, 2026HedgeDoc is an open source, real-time collaborative markdown notes application.CVE-2026-58489 · Other software · hedgedoc · reported by GitHubMedium 6.8

HedgeDoc is an open source, real-time collaborative markdown notes application. Prior to 1.11.0, the GitHub Gist export flow created an OAuth2  state  value but only checked that it was present rather than validating it against the value expected for the user's session. Because the state was not properly validated, an attacker could forge a callback URL containing their own valid GitHub OAuth code. When processing the callback, HedgeDoc used the victim's logged-in session to select which note to export, but the attacker's authorization code to determine which GitHub account received it. As a result, a logged-in victim who clicked a crafted link could export their own private, protected, or limited note directly into a Gist controlled by the attacker. This issue has been fixed in version 1.11.0.

  • Jul 13, 2026HedgeDoc is an open source, real-time, collaborative, markdown notes application.CVE-2026-58486 · Other software · hedgedoc · reported by GitHubHigh 8.3

HedgeDoc is an open source, real-time, collaborative, markdown notes application. Prior to version 1.11.0, HedgeDoc was vulnerable to a YAML alias bomb due to unsafe processing of the note frontmatter. HedgeDoc parsed frontmatter with js-yaml.load (js-yaml v3) via @hedgedoc/meta-marked, which resolved YAML anchor aliases. A compact malicious payload could therefore expand into a huge object structure, consuming excessive CPU. This expansion ran on every request to the publish view (/s/<shortid>) and, when placed under the opengraph key, the editor view (/<noteId>). A ten-level alias bomb could block the single Node.js event loop for roughly 235 seconds per request, causing concurrent requests to hang or drop and rendering the instance unavailable (DoS). Because the note was stored in the database, the impact survived process restarts until the note was removed. toobusy-js did not reliably mitigate the worst cases, as the event loop was saturated before the middleware could respond. This issue was fixed in version 1.11.0.

  • Jul 13, 2026HedgeDoc is an open source, real-time, collaborative, markdown notes application.CVE-2026-58488 · Other software · hedgedoc · reported by GitHubMedium 6.9

HedgeDoc is an open source, real-time, collaborative, markdown notes application. Versions prior to 1.11.0 allowed attackers to circumvent the rate-limiting of the /login and /register routes by spoofing IP addresses. HedgeDoc instances checked for CloudFlare's cf-connecting-ip header and used that instead of the users real IP address, if the header was present even when the request did not originate from Cloudflare. This made it possible for an attacker to spam login requests or create multiple arbitrary accounts by sending another cf-connecting-ip header every few requests. The issue has been fixed in version 1.11.0.

  • Jul 13, 2026HedgeDoc is an open source, real-time, collaborative, markdown notes application.CVE-2026-58487 · Other software · hedgedoc · reported by GitHubMedium 5.1

HedgeDoc is an open source, real-time, collaborative, markdown notes application. Prior to version 1.11.0, due to unsafe handling of the local-part of registered email addresses, HedgeDoc was vulnerable to stored HTML Injection through its publish and slide views. An attacker could register a specially crafted email address and inject arbitrary HTML into pages viewed by other users. HedgeDoc accepted RFC 5321 quoted-string local-parts in email addresses during registration. The local-part was then reused as the user's display name without escaping and rendered into HTML in multiple places, including publish and slide views as well as the collaborative editor. An attacker could break out of an HTML attribute and inject arbitrary markup into the page. While the deployed Content-Security-Policy prevented straightforward inline JavaScript execution, the injected HTML was still sufficient to alter page content and embed attacker-controlled resources such as cross-origin iframes. This issue was fixed in version 1.11.0.

  • Jun 9, 2026jQuery Hover Footnotes: Stored Cross-Site ScriptingCVE-2026-10738 · WordPress plugins & themes · reported by WordfenceMedium 6.4

The jQuery Hover Footnotes plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via Footnote Qualifier ('{{...}}' Syntax) in all versions up to, and including, 1.4 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with author-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The attribute-breakout payload (e.g., a double-quote followed by an event handler) contains no angle brackets and therefore bypasses WordPress core's wp_kses_post() filtering, which only strips disallowed HTML tags rather than sanitizing attribute contexts.

The jQuery Hover Footnotes plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Cross-Site Request Forgery in all versions up to, and including, 1.4. This is due to missing or incorrect nonce validation on the jqFootnotes_options_subpanel function. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to update the plugin's settings with arbitrary values that, because option values such as jqfoot_anchor_open, jqfoot_anchor_close, and jqfoot_title are echoed unescaped into frontend page content, can be chained into persistent Cross-Site Scripting affecting all site visitors via a forged request granted they can trick a site administrator into performing an action such as clicking on a link. Successful exploitation of the CSRF vulnerability can be chained into stored Cross-Site Scripting, as the overwritten option values are persisted via update_option() without sanitization and rendered unescaped on the frontend.

The Frontend User Notes plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Cross-Site Request Forgery in all versions up to, and including, 2.1.1. This is due to missing or incorrect nonce validation on the funp_ajax_modify_notes function. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to trick a logged-in user into visiting a malicious page, causing unauthorized overwriting of that victim's own note content via a forged cross-site request to wp_update_post() via a forged request granted they can trick a site administrator into performing an action such as clicking on a link. Due to ownership enforcement comparing the note's stored _funp_single_user_id meta against the current session's user ID, the attack is limited to modifying only notes belonging to the tricked victim, and cannot be used to alter notes owned by arbitrary third-party users.

  • May 29, 2026Trilium Notes is a cross-platform, hierarchical note taking application focused on building large personal knowledge bases.CVE-2026-45668 · Other software · TriliumNext · reported by GitHubCritical 9.3

Trilium Notes is a cross-platform, hierarchical note taking application focused on building large personal knowledge bases. Prior to 0.102.2, a malicious ZIP archive imported with safe import enabled achieves RCE via #docName path traversal and XSS by combining a payload note (type: code, mime: text/plain) containing raw HTML/JS and a trigger note (type: doc or type: launcher) with a #docName label that uses ../ path traversal to point at the payload note's API endpoint. The desktop client Electron renderer runs with nodeIntegration enabled, so an RCE is triggered once the payload is executed. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.102.2.

Trilium Notes is a cross-platform, hierarchical note taking application focused on building large personal knowledge bases. Versions 0.102.1 and prior contain a critical security flaw where lack of SVG sanitization combined with a disabled Content Security Policy (CSP) and a publicly reachable backend execution API results in an unauthenticated Remote Code Execution (RCE). The vulnerability arises from an insecure-by-design architecture: Trilium serves SVG attachments with the image/svg+xml MIME type without any sanitization, and it explicitly disables Helmet's Content Security Policy middleware, removing the primary defense against script execution in served assets. Because the malicious SVG runs under the Same-Origin Policy, it can issue a fetch('/') to extract the csrfToken from the document body. With that token, it can send a signed request to /api/script/exec to execute arbitrary Node.js code on the server. An attacker can compromise the entire server instance simply by tricking an authenticated user into viewing a shared SVG attachment. The issue has been fixed in version 0.102.2.

  • May 20, 2026Trilium Notes is a cross-platform, hierarchical note taking application focused on building large personal knowledge bases.CVE-2026-39310 · Other software · TriliumNext · reported by GitHubHigh 8.6

Trilium Notes is a cross-platform, hierarchical note taking application focused on building large personal knowledge bases. In versions 0.102.1 and prior, the Clipper API in Trilium Desktop (v0.101.3) allows full authentication bypass when running in an Electron environment. When Trilium detects an Electron environment, it explicitly disables authentication middleware for the Clipper API, exposing endpoints such as /api/clipper/notes to the network with no password, API token, or CSRF protection. An attacker on a shared network (for example, a corporate LAN or public Wi-Fi) can scan for open high-range ports using a tool like nmap, since Trilium often binds to ports such as 37840. Once a candidate port is found, an unauthenticated request to the Clipper handshake endpoint, which also bypasses authentication, confirms a Trilium instance by returning the application name and protocol version. This facilitates unauthorized data access, phishing, and local system compromise. The issue has been fixed in version 0.102.2.

  • May 19, 2026Trilium Notes is a cross-platform, hierarchical note taking application focused on building large personal knowledge bases.CVE-2026-39309 · Other software · TriliumNext · reported by GitHubMedium 5.5

Trilium Notes is a cross-platform, hierarchical note taking application focused on building large personal knowledge bases. In versions 0.102.1 and prior, the Electron configuration is vulnerable to TCC Bypass via Prompt Spoofing, allowing local attackers to trigger misleading macOS permission prompts by running malicious code under the identity of the trusted app. The root cause is that the RunAsNode fuse allows launching the app in a special Node.js mode using -e to execute arbitrary system commands with Trilium Notes's permissions and identity. An attacker can leverage this through a subprocess to request any sensitive permissions, such as access to hardware (camera, microphone) and TCC-protected files, causing the TCC system prompt to appear as if the request came from Trilium rather than the attacker's code, because macOS treats the subprocess as part of the parent application. Exploitation allows access to TCC-protected resources like the screen, camera, microphone, and folders such as ~/Documents and ~/Downloads, undermining macOS's security model and UI integrity through social engineering. This issue has been fixed in version 0.102.2.

Trilium Notes is an open-source, cross-platform hierarchical note taking application for building large personal knowledge bases. Versions 0.102.1 and prior are vulnerable to Local File Inclusion, allowing an authenticated attacker to read sensitive arbitrary files from the server's filesystem. The uploadModifiedFileToAttachment function, which is called when a POST request is received to /api/attachments/{attachmentId}/upload-modified-file, replaces the content of the attachment with the content from another file (whose path is provided in filePath of Request body). Joplin is an open source note-taking and to-do application that organises notes and lists into notebooks. Versions 3.5.2 and prior contain a logic error in the delta API that allows share recipients to download notes that are no longer shared with them, related to but not fully fixed by the prior patch in #14289. In ChangeModel.delta, when DELTA_INCLUDES_ITEMS is enabled (the default), the latest state of items is attached to delta output without verifying that those items are still shared with the requesting user, and the existing removal logic only filters items deleted for all users. Additionally, the change compression logic incorrectly reduces create - delete to NOOP, which is unsafe because compression is applied per page and an item can have multiple create events; if an earlier create falls on a separate page from a later create -> delete pair, the deletion is dropped and the sequence collapses to a create. As a result, the delta API returns a create event for a deleted item with the full latest content attached, exposing notes the user no longer has access to. This issue has been fixed in version 3.5.3.

Joplin is an open source note-taking and to-do application that organises notes and lists into notebooks. Versions 3.6.14 and prior contain a Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerability in the title input functionality due to a lack of proper length validation. This flaw allows an attacker to cause an Out Of Memory (OOM) error and subsequent program termination by inserting an excessively long string into a note's title. This can be triggered either through direct user interface (UI) input or programmatically via the local web service API after compromising an authentication token. There are 2 primary methods of exploitation: via User Interface (UI) Input, and the Local Web Service API. A local user can directly type or paste an extremely long string into the title field when creating or editing a note Joplin runs a local web service (typically on port 41184) that allows programmatic interaction, such as creating or editing notes via HTTP API calls. If an attacker manages to exfiltrate or compromise the user's authentication token (e.g., through malware on the local system, or other local vulnerabilities), they can then send a crafted HTTP POST request to this local API. • May 4, 2026Notesnook is a note-taking app focused on user privacy & ease of use.CVE-2026-42090 · Other software · streetwriters · reported by GitHubCritical 9.6

Notesnook is a note-taking app focused on user privacy & ease of use. Prior to Notesnook Web/Desktop version 3.3.15 and prior to Notesnook iOS/Android version 3.3.20, a stored XSS vulnerability in the note export flow can be escalated to remote code execution in the desktop app. The root cause is that exported note fields such as title, headline, and content are inserted into the generated HTML template without HTML escaping. When the note is later exported to PDF, Notesnook renders that HTML into a same-origin, unsandboxed iframe using iframe.srcdoc = .... Injected script executes in the Notesnook origin. In the desktop app, this becomes RCE because Electron is configured with nodeIntegration: true and contextIsolation: false. This issue has been patched in Notesnook Web/Desktop version 3.3.15 and Notesnook iOS/Android version 3.3.20.

Notesnook is a note-taking app focused on user privacy & ease of use. Prior to version 3.3.17, a stored XSS vulnerability exists in the mobile share / web clip flow because attacker-controlled clip metadata is concatenated into HTML without escaping and then rendered with innerHTML inside the mobile share editor WebView. An attacker can control the shared title metadata (for example through Android/iOS share metadata such as TITLE / SUBJECT, or through link-preview title data) and inject HTML such as </a><img src=x onerror=...>. When the victim opens the Notesnook share flow and selects Web clip, the payload is inserted into the generated HTML and executed in the mobile editor WebView. Notesnook is a note-taking app. Prior to version 3.3.11 on Web/Desktop and 3.3.17 on Android/iOS, a stored XSS in the Web Clipper rendering flow can be escalated to remote code execution in the desktop app. The root cause is that the clipper preserves attacker-controlled attributes from the source page’s root element and stores them inside web-clip HTML. Event-handler attributes such as `onload`, `onclick`, or `onmouseover` execute in the Notesnook origin. Notesnook is a note-taking app. Prior to version 3.3.11 on Web/Desktop, a cross-site scripting vulnerability stored in the note history comparison viewer can escalate to remote code execution in a desktop application. The issue is triggered when an attacker-controlled note header is displayed using `dangerouslySetInnerHTML` without secure handling. When combined with the full backup and restore feature in the desktop application, this becomes remote code execution because Electron is configured with `nodeIntegration: true` and `contextIsolation: false`. Version 3.3.11 patches the issue.
