  • Oct 19, 2026Cpanel::JSON::XS versions before 4.80 for Perl leak the decoded key of an object rejected for a duplicate key or a missing colon in decode_hv.CVE-2026-110672 · Websites & servers · reported by 9b29abf9-4ab0-4765-b253-1875cd9b441e

Cpanel::JSON::XS versions before 4.80 for Perl leak the decoded key of an object rejected for a duplicate key or a missing colon in decode_hv. A quoted key of 24 or more bytes, or one containing a non-ASCII byte or an escape sequence, is decoded into a new scalar. Nothing frees that scalar when the object is rejected for a missing ':' after the key or, from 4.09, for a duplicate key. Duplicate keys are an error unless allow_dupkeys, dupkeys_as_arrayref or relaxed is set. A process that keeps running after a failed decode retains one key per rejected document, with its size chosen by the sender. Repeated requests exhaust process memory.

StreamReadConstraints.maxNameLength (default 50,000 characters) is intended to bound how much memory a single JSON Object property name can consume while being parsed, independently of the much larger maxStringLength (default 100,000,000 characters) that bounds ordinary string values. For parsers built over character input — Reader, String or char[] sources, all served by ReaderBasedJsonParser — that bound is not applied while the name is being accumulated. The code path instead re-uses the string-value length check, which is roughly 2000x larger by default. In the character-input slow path, ReaderBasedJsonParser._parseName2() accumulates the name into the TextBuffer and, when a segment fills, calls TextBuffer.finishCurrentSegment(), which validates only maxStringLength. The correct check, StreamReadConstraints.validateNameLength(int), is reached afterwards in CharsToNameCanonicalizer.findSymbol(), once the entire name has been scanned to its closing quote. By that point the full name — up to maxStringLength characters — has already been buffered in memory. A remote attacker who can have a single sufficiently long JSON Object property name parsed through this path can force a

  • Oct 15, 2026joserfc is a Python library that provides an implementation of several JSON Object Signing and Encryption (JOSE) standards.CVE-2026-102946 · Other software · authlib · reported by GitHubCritical 9.1

joserfc is a Python library that provides an implementation of several JSON Object Signing and Encryption (JOSE) standards. Prior to 1.7.4, joserfc.jws.deserialize_json() accepts a JWS General JSON Serialization with an empty signatures array as authenticated. The verify_general_json() loop performs no iterations for the empty array and returns success because no signature check failed, allowing an attacker without a signing key to supply an arbitrary payload that relying applications may treat as authentic. The issue affects the General JSON Serialization path; compact JWS and JWT decoding, Flattened JSON serialization, and JWE JSON processing do not follow this vulnerable path. This issue is fixed in version 1.7.4.

  • Oct 9, 2026Uncontrolled Recursion vulnerability in Protobuf.JSON.Decode in elixir-protobuf protobuf allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to crash the decoding processCVE-2026-104635 · Other software · elixir-protobuf · reported by 6b3ad84c-e1a6-4bf7-a703-f496b71e49dbHigh 8.2

Uncontrolled Recursion vulnerability in Protobuf.JSON.Decode in elixir-protobuf protobuf allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to crash the decoding process via a deeply nested JSON document. Any application that decodes attacker-supplied JSON with Protobuf.JSON.decode/3, Protobuf.JSON.decode!/3, or Protobuf.JSON.from_decoded/3 into a schema that contains a self-referential or cyclic message type is affected. In lib/protobuf/json/decode.ex, the embedded-message clause of decode_singular/3 recurses into internal_from_json_data/3 once per nesting level without incrementing or checking the decoder's depth counter. The depth guard increase_depth_and_maybe_throw/1 covers only the Google.Protobuf.ListValue and Google.Protobuf.Struct clauses, so the recursion_limit option has no effect on user-defined message types. Each nesting level allocates a stack frame and heap objects, and a sufficiently deep document exhausts the memory of the decoding process. Confidentiality and integrity are not affected. This issue affects protobuf: from 0.8.0 before 0.17.1.

  • Oct 8, 2026fast-jwt provides fast JSON Web Token (JWT) implementation.CVE-2026-107724 · Other software · nearform · reported by GitHubHigh 7.4

fast-jwt provides fast JSON Web Token (JWT) implementation. In 6.2.4, fast-jwt can classify raw serialized public JWK or JWKS JSON as an HMAC secret because src/crypto.js performDetectPublicKeyAlgorithms treats non-PEM strings as symmetric key material. If HS256 is explicitly allowed or inferred, an attacker who knows the exact serialized public-key bytes can use those bytes as an HMAC key and create a token containing arbitrary claims that createVerifier accepts. Serialization ordering or whitespace differences can prevent exploitation, and applications using supported PEM keys with an asymmetric-only algorithm allowlist are not affected. This issue is fixed in version 6.3.0.

  • Oct 8, 2026fast-jwt provides fast JSON Web Token (JWT) implementation.CVE-2026-107723 · Other software · nearform · reported by GitHubHigh 8.1

fast-jwt provides fast JSON Web Token (JWT) implementation. Prior to 6.3.0, fast-jwt createVerifier accepts a validly signed JWT whose payload is a JSON array because src/decoder.js checks that the payload is an object but does not reject arrays. The claim validator loop then finds no named exp, nbf, iss, aud, sub, jti, or nonce properties and silently skips those configured checks, returning the array as a successfully verified payload. An attacker who can produce or influence a validly signed token may bypass expiry, issuer, audience, subject, revocation, and replay protections. The opt-in requiredClaims option can block missing claims, and signature verification itself is not bypassed. This issue is fixed in version 6.3.0.

fast-jwt provides fast JSON Web Token (JWT) implementation. From 6.2.0 until 6.3.0, fast-jwt can misclassify RSA public-key text as an HMAC secret when the key has non-whitespace content before its PEM header. In src/crypto.js, performDetectPublicKeyAlgorithms trims whitespace but publicKeyPemMatcher remains start-anchored, so comments, control characters, zero-width characters, or wrapper text can prevent PEM detection and reach the HMAC fallback. An attacker who knows the public key bytes can sign arbitrary HS256 claims with that public material when HS256 is inferred or allowed, resulting in authentication or authorization bypass. An asymmetric-only algorithm allowlist prevents the attack. This issue is fixed in version 6.3.0.

fast-jwt provides fast JSON Web Token (JWT) implementation. Prior to 6.3.0, fast-jwt createVerifier accepts Infinity for clockTolerance because its option validation checks type and negativity but not finiteness. In validateClaimDateValue, infinite positive and negative modifiers make exp and nbf comparisons always pass, allowing expired or not-yet-active tokens to be accepted. The verifier cache also derives infinite bounds, so entries created under this configuration can remain valid until eviction. Exploitation requires an application administrator or equivalent configuration path to set clockTolerance to Infinity. This issue is fixed in version 6.3.0.

fast-jwt provides fast JSON Web Token (JWT) implementation. Prior to 6.3.1, fast-jwt createVerifier accepts an unsigned JWT when key is an empty string or null and algorithms is a non-empty allowlist. Falsy synchronous keys bypass prepareKeyOrSecret, allowedAlgorithms remains active, hasKey is false, and the empty signature avoids the verifySignature gate. An attacker can therefore submit a token containing arbitrary claims without possessing a signing key, resulting in authentication or authorization bypass. Claim validators still run, and non-empty keys, an empty key without algorithms, and the async key resolver path do not have this behavior. This issue is fixed in version 6.3.1.

fast-jwt provides fast JSON Web Token (JWT) implementation. Prior to 6.3.4, the fast-jwt createVerifier cache can continue accepting a previously valid, signed JWT after its exp time when caching is enabled and the token has exp but no iat. In src/verifier.js, cacheSet derives the exp cache deadline only when iat is present, so the cache falls back to cacheTTL, and a later cache hit returns the saved payload before verifyToken rechecks expiration. An attacker who can replay the same cached bearer token can extend access until the cache entry expires, but cannot forge a token through this issue. This issue is fixed in version 6.3.4.

Incorrect Type Conversion or Cast vulnerability in BeamMCP.Server in ScriptKittyOS beam_mcp allows an MCP client's JSON true, false and null tool arguments to reach the host's dispatch function as the strings "true", "false" and "nil". After BeamMCP.Schema.validate/2 accepted a value as a boolean, normalize_arguments/2 passed every argument through to_json_value/1, whose atom clause converts true, false and nil to strings. A string is truthy in Elixir, so a host that tests a boolean argument, for example if args.dry_run, takes the opposite branch for false, and a guard such as confirm: false reads as set. The client controls the argument and could send true directly, so the practical impact is limited to hosts whose behaviour on false differs from their behaviour on true, and to any policy layer in front of the server that permits false but refuses true. The same normalisation applies to prompts/get arguments, which exist from 0.5.0. This issue affects beam_mcp: from 0.1.0 before 0.10.1.

  • Oct 8, 2026Inefficient algorithmic complexity in the JSON reader of Progressive Robot hMailServer allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to make the mail services unavaiCVE-2026-107574 · Other software · Progressive Robot Ltd · reported by cve@gitlab.comHigh 7.5

Inefficient algorithmic complexity in the JSON reader of Progressive Robot hMailServer allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to make the mail services unavailable. Reading a JSON object kept the first of each duplicated member name by searching the members already read, so an object of N distinct member names cost O(N^2): 1 MB took 8.9 seconds and 4 MB took 300 seconds against the affected code. A remote attacker reaches the reader without an account by mailing a crafted TLS-RPT report (up to 16 MB after decompression) to a hosted domain's published report mailbox, which is read on a delivery thread; a few such reports hold every delivery thread (ten by default), so the server delivers no mail, local or outbound, for over an hour per report. A signed-in account reaches the same 16 MB body through the webmail's own REST routes, holding the REST API's own worker threads. Where no report mailbox is configured, the unauthenticated REST sign-in routes that read a JSON body are capped at 64 KB and are not affected.

@fastify/jwt is a JSON Web Token plugin for the Fastify web framework. In versions before 10.2.3, a time span passed to expiresIn, notBefore, or maxAge that the plugin's parser cannot read, such as a compound span, a month unit, an ISO 8601 duration, a decimal comma, or a value with surrounding whitespace, is silently dropped instead of refused. On the signing path this produces a token with no expiration claim that never expires, and on the verification path a configured maxAge stops being enforced, so a token that should be rejected for age is accepted. The issue is fixed in @fastify/jwt 10.2.3, and users should upgrade to 10.2.3 or later. As a workaround, pass these options as a number of seconds, or verify that any time-span string parses to a finite value before relying on it.

auto-changelog before 2.6.1 merges configuration from inside the target repository (the .auto-changelog file and the auto-changelog key in package.json) into its options, and honors security-sensitive options from that untrusted source. The handlebarsSetup option is passed to require(), so running auto-changelog over attacker-controlled repository content (for example, in a CI workflow that checks out an untrusted pull request head, or locally on a forked or third-party repository) executes attacker-chosen code with the privileges of the invoking user or CI job, including access to workflow secrets, without the repository dependencies ever being installed. The plugins option similarly loads attacker-controlled modules from the repository. Under the same conditions, appendGitLog/appendGitTag allow git argument injection (e.g. --output= to write arbitrary files), output allows writing attacker-influenced content to arbitrary paths, and template causes an outbound request to an attacker-chosen URL. Version 2.6.1 treats in-repository configuration as untrusted and refuses to run when it sets these options, unless the new --unsafe-config flag is passed.

An attacker can provide a small untrusted JSON object with a large length value, causing the array-like TypedArray constructor to synchronously allocate the selected number of elements and exhaust CPU or memory while starving the event loop. The offset check does not reject the crafted source because source.byteLength is undefined. DataView reaches a similar unchecked cast but throws rather than allocating, and the issue has no identified confidentiality or integrity impact. This issue is fixed in version 1.6.3.

  • Oct 2, 2026JSON API Auth: Authentication BypassCVE-2026-97637 · WordPress plugins & themes · reported by WordfenceCritical 9.8

    The JSON API Auth plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Authentication Bypass via Cached Session Cookie Disclosure in all versions up to, and including, 3.1.2. The vulnerability exists because the required PI-Media/json-api parent plugin caches controller dispatch results in transients keyed solely by URI and query string, ignoring HTTP method and POST body; this causes the `generate_auth_cookie()` endpoint — which embeds a live WordPress `logged_in` cookie produced by `wp_generate_auth_cookie()` directly in its JSON response body — to serve that cached authenticated response to any subsequent unauthenticated GET request to the same URI. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to retrieve a valid Administrator `logged_in` session cookie from the cached response and use it to fully authenticate as the site Administrator, including via the same plugin's `get_currentuserinfo` endpoint and any cookie-authenticated controller action. Exploitation requires the PI-Media/json-api parent plugin to be installed and active with the Auth controller enabled, and a legitimate Administrator must have POSTed to `/api/auth/generate_auth_cookie/` within the preceding 24-hour cache TTL;

  • Oct 1, 2026stream-json is a micro-library of stream components for processing JSON and JSONC with a minimal memory footprint.CVE-2026-104183 · Other software · uhop · reported by GitHubMedium 5.1

stream-json is a micro-library of stream components for processing JSON and JSONC with a minimal memory footprint. Prior to 3.6.0, Assembler materializes object properties with plain assignment, so an input key named __proto__ invokes the inherited setter and causes parsed object prototype replacement instead of creating an own data property. Applications that make authorization or feature decisions from inherited values can therefore consume attacker-controlled properties, and a null prototype can disrupt code that expects Object.prototype methods. The researcher treats parsing untrusted JSON as part of the project contract, while the maintainer states that documented inputs are locally owned dumps, exports, or logs and characterizes the attack vector as local. The global Object.prototype is not polluted. This issue is fixed in version 3.6.0.

stream-json is a micro-library of stream components for processing JSON and JSONC with a minimal memory footprint. Prior to 3.6.0, the JSONC parser at stream-json/jsonc/parser.js and verifier at stream-json/jsonc/verifier.js restart comment-terminator scanning from the opening slash whenever a block or line comment spans an input chunk, while retaining the accumulated comment buffer. Delivering a large valid comment across many small chunks therefore causes quadratic CPU work and can stall the Node.js event loop. The maintainer characterizes the attack vector as local because the documented JSONC input is locally owned or user-controlled configuration, rather than input intended for the open internet. This JSONC-only scope does not include the plain JSON parser, which advances through and discards consumed string and number data. This issue is fixed in version 3.6.0.

  • Oct 1, 2026The Smile parser in FasterXML jackson-dataformats-binary never invokes StreamReadConstraints.validateNameLength() when decoding JSON object property names, so tCVE-2026-68496 · Other software · FasterXML · reported by 36c7be3b-2937-45df-85ea-ca7133ea542cHigh 7.5

The Smile parser in FasterXML jackson-dataformats-binary never invokes StreamReadConstraints.validateNameLength() when decoding JSON object property names, so the maxNameLength limit is not enforced for this format. SmileParser._handleLongFieldName() grows its internal name buffer through an unconstrained _growArrayTo() call and performs no length validation. An attacker who can have a Smile document parsed may therefore embed a single property name of unbounded length; the parser buffers the whole name in memory before returning it, whatever maxNameLength is configured to. Because StreamReadConstraints.maxDocumentLength is also disabled by default, nothing else bounds the name under default settings, so the only limits are the attacker's upload capacity and available heap, leading to memory exhaustion and denial of service. No privileges beyond the ability to submit data to a parsing endpoint are required, and exploitation needs only that the bytes reach SmileFactory parsing, directly or through an ObjectMapper configured with the Smile module. jackson-core's own JSON parsers enforce maxNameLength incrementally during name decoding; this gap is specific to the binary formats. maxN

The CBOR parser in FasterXML jackson-dataformats-binary never invokes StreamReadConstraints.validateNameLength() when decoding JSON object property names, so the maxNameLength limit is not enforced for this format. • Sep 30, 2026PyJWT is a Python implementation of JSON Web Token standards.CVE-2026-103001 · Other software · jpadilla · reported by GitHubMedium 6.5

PyJWT is a Python implementation of JSON Web Token standards. From 2.11.0 through 2.13.0, PyJWT's PyJWT._merge_options() method can modify a caller-supplied mutable options mapping when verify_signature is false. If an application reuses that same mapping for a later decode() or decode_complete() call and changes verify_signature to true, the mapping can retain false values for expiration, not-before, issued-at, audience, issuer, subject, and JWT ID checks. A signed token with invalid registered claims can then be accepted without disabling signature verification, but applications that create a fresh options mapping for each call are not affected.

Serialize JavaScript serializes JavaScript values to a superset of JSON that includes regular expressions and functions. From 7.1.1 until 7.1.2, function values serialized by serialize-javascript are not fully protected against script-closing tags in attacker-influenced function source because SCRIPT_CLOSE_REGEXP can consume a second closing tag inside one match. When the serialized function is embedded in a script element, the surviving closing tag terminates the element early and causes the remaining output to be parsed as HTML, enabling cross-site scripting in the page origin. Only function values are affected; ordinary data values and options.isJSON output are unaffected. This issue is fixed in version 7.1.2.

  • Sep 28, 2026PyJWT is a Python implementation of JSON Web Token standards.CVE-2026-102275 · Other software · jpadilla · reported by GitHubMedium 6.5

PyJWT is a Python implementation of JSON Web Token standards. From 2.1.0 until 2.15.0, PyJWT OKPAlgorithm.from_jwk in jwt/algorithms.py is affected because private-JWK import path does not compare the public key derived from d with x. This occurs when an OKP private JWK supplies non-corresponding x and d components. As a result, identity derived from x can differ from operations performed with d. Consequently, if an integration also accepts private key parameters from a proof header without rejecting them, an attacker may use a stolen sender-constrained token without the legitimate private key. This issue is fixed in version 2.15.0.

PyJWT is a Python implementation of JSON Web Token standards. From 2.9.0 until 2.14.0, PyJWKSet does not catch the plain ValueError raised for malformed RSA JWK components by RSAAlgorithm.from_jwk in jwt/api_jwk.py. This occurs when a JWK Set contains a malformed RSA key alongside otherwise usable keys. As a result, one malformed member aborts construction of the entire PyJWKSet. Consequently, applications can experience authentication failures or request-level denial of service. This issue is fixed in version 2.14.0.

PyJWT is a Python implementation of JSON Web Token standards. From 2.13.0 until 2.14.0, PyJWT HMACAlgorithm.prepare_key is affected because HMAC key guard only recognizes top-level public JWK forms and misses container representations. This occurs when an application allows HMAC and asymmetric algorithms and passes a public JWK container as the raw key. As a result, public asymmetric key material is accepted as the HMAC secret. Consequently, an attacker who knows the public key can forge a token with arbitrary authenticated claims. This issue is fixed in version 2.14.0.

PyJWT is a Python implementation of JSON Web Token standards. From 2.13.0 until 2.14.0, HMACAlgorithm.prepare_key in jwt/algorithms.py is affected because raw-JWK detector does not normalize accepted Unicode byte-order marks before checking for JSON. This occurs when a public JWK is prefixed with a UTF-8 BOM and used in a mixed-algorithm verification path. As a result, public JWK bypasses asymmetric-key detection and becomes the HMAC secret. Consequently, an attacker who knows the public key can forge authenticated tokens. This issue is fixed in version 2.14.0.

PyJWT is a Python implementation of JSON Web Token standards. From 2.4.0 until 2.14.0, PyJWT HMACAlgorithm.prepare_key is affected because asymmetric-key guard relies on textual markers that are absent from DER encoding. PyJWT is a Python implementation of JSON Web Token standards. Prior to 2.14.0, PyJWT signature segment is affected because signature segment decoding accepts characters outside the canonical Base64URL representation.
