  • Jun 18, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: rxrpc: Fix locking in rxrpc's sendmsg Fix three bugs in the rxrpc's sendmsg implementationCVE-2022-49998 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.8

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: rxrpc: Fix locking in rxrpc's sendmsg Fix three bugs in the rxrpc's sendmsg implementation: (1) rxrpc_new_client_call() should release the socket lock when returning an error from rxrpc_get_call_slot(). (2) rxrpc_wait_for_tx_window_intr() will return without the call mutex held in the event that we're interrupted by a signal whilst waiting for tx space on the socket or relocking the call mutex afterwards. Fix this by: (a) moving the unlock/lock of the call mutex up to rxrpc_send_data() such that the lock is not held around all of rxrpc_wait_for_tx_window*() and (b) indicating to higher callers whether we're return with the lock dropped. Note that this means recvmsg() will not block on this call whilst we're waiting. (3) After dropping and regaining the call mutex, rxrpc_send_data() needs to go and recheck the state of the tx_pending buffer and the tx_total_len check in case we raced with another sendmsg() on the same call. Thinking on this some more, it might make sense to have different locks for sendmsg() and recvmsg(). There's probably no need to

  • May 1, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: sctp: detect and prevent references to a freed transport in sendmsg sctp_sendmsg() re-usesCVE-2025-23142 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.8

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: sctp: detect and prevent references to a freed transport in sendmsg sctp_sendmsg() re-uses associations and transports when possible by doing a lookup based on the socket endpoint and the message destination address, and then sctp_sendmsg_to_asoc() sets the selected transport in all the message chunks to be sent. There's a possible race condition if another thread triggers the removal of that selected transport, for instance, by explicitly unbinding an address with setsockopt(SCTP_SOCKOPT_BINDX_REM), after the chunks have been set up and before the message is sent. This can happen if the send buffer is full, during the period when the sender thread temporarily releases the socket lock in sctp_wait_for_sndbuf(). This causes the access to the transport data in sctp_outq_select_transport(), when the association outqueue is flushed, to result in a use-after-free read. This change avoids this scenario by having sctp_transport_free() signal the freeing of the transport, tagging it as "dead". In order to do this, the patch restores the "dead" bit in struct sctp_transport, which was removed in commit 47faa1e4c50e ("sc

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf, sockmap: Fix memleak in tcp_bpf_sendmsg while sk msg is full If tcp_bpf_sendmsg() is running while sk msg is full. When sk_msg_alloc() returns -ENOMEM error, tcp_bpf_sendmsg() goes to wait_for_memory. If partial memory has been alloced by sk_msg_alloc(), that is, msg_tx->sg.size is greater than osize after sk_msg_alloc(), memleak occurs. To fix we use sk_msg_trim() to release the allocated memory, then goto wait for memory. Other call paths of sk_msg_alloc() have the similar issue, such as tls_sw_sendmsg(), so handle sk_msg_trim logic inside sk_msg_alloc(), as Cong Wang suggested. • Feb 5, 2025CKAN is an open-source DMS (data management system) for powering data hubs and data portals.CVE-2025-24372 · Other software · ckan · reported by GitHubHigh 7.3

CKAN is an open-source DMS (data management system) for powering data hubs and data portals. Using a specially crafted file, a user could potentially upload a file containing code that when executed could send arbitrary requests to the server. If that file was opened by an administrator, it could lead to escalation of privileges of the original submitter or other malicious actions. Users must have been registered to the site to exploit this vulnerability. This vulnerability has been fixed in CKAN 2.10.7 and 2.11.2. Users are advised to upgrade. On versions prior to CKAN 2.10.7 and 2.11.2, site maintainers can restrict the file types supported for uploading using the `ckan.upload.user.mimetypes` / `ckan.upload.user.types` and `ckan.upload.group.mimetypes` / `ckan.upload.group.types` config options. To entirely disable file uploads users can use: `ckan.upload.user.types = none`

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tcp_bpf: fix return value of tcp_bpf_sendmsg() When we cork messages in psock->cork, the last message triggers the flushing will result in sending a sk_msg larger than the current message size. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: kcm: Serialise kcm_sendmsg() for the same socket. syzkaller reported UAF in kcm_release(). [0] The scenario is 1. Thread A builds a skb with MSG_MORE and sets kcm->seq_skb. 2. Thread A resumes building skb from kcm->seq_skb but is blocked by sk_stream_wait_memory() 3. Thread B calls sendmsg() concurrently, finishes building kcm->seq_skb and puts the skb to the write queue 4. Thread A faces an error and finally frees skb that is already in the write queue 5. kcm_release() does double-free the skb in the write queue When a thread is building a MSG_MORE skb, another thread must not touch it. Let's add a per-sk mutex and serialise kcm_sendmsg(). In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tcp: take care of mixed splice()/sendmsg(MSG_ZEROCOPY) case syzbot found that mixing sendpage() and sendmsg(MSG_ZEROCOPY) calls over the same TCP socket would again trigger the infamous warning in inet_sock_destruct() WARN_ON(sk_forward_alloc_get(sk)); While Talal took into account a mix of regular copied data and MSG_ZEROCOPY one in the same skb, the sendpage() path has been forgotten. We want the charging to happen for sendpage(), because pages could be coming from a pipe. What is missing is the downgrading of pure zerocopy status to make sure sk_forward_alloc will stay synced. Add tcp_downgrade_zcopy_pure() helper so that we can use it from the two callers.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: l2tp: pass correct message length to ip6_append_data l2tp_ip6_sendmsg needs to avoid accounting for the transport header twice when splicing more data into an already partially-occupied skbuff. To manage this, we check whether the skbuff contains data using skb_queue_empty when deciding how much data to append using ip6_append_data. However, the code which performed the calculation was incorrect: ulen = len + skb_queue_empty(&sk->sk_write_queue) ? transhdrlen : 0; ...due to C operator precedence, this ends up setting ulen to transhdrlen for messages with a non-zero length, which results in corrupted packets on the wire. Add parentheses to correct the calculation in line with the original intent.

    What to do
Apply the vendor’s update. The NVD record links to the advisory.

Where this comes from: the exploited list is CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Everything else is the whole National Vulnerability Database, where each record is published by the team that found the bug (Wordfence, Patchstack, WPScan, the vendors themselves and others); we show who. Exploit odds are FIRST’s EPSS, updated daily. Titles and categories are ours, so check the linked record before acting on a detail. For a write-up of the big ones, see our advisories. Every vendor, and every WordPress plugin and theme with a recorded flaw, also has its own page. All of it is free to reuse as JSON, CSV or RSS.
