  • Sep 18, 2026File Viewer is a browser-native viewer for Office, PDF, CAD, archive, and other files in private and internal web applications.CVE-2026-91127 · Other software · flyfish-dev · reported by GitHubHigh 8.2

File Viewer is a browser-native viewer for Office, PDF, CAD, archive, and other files in private and internal web applications. Prior to @file-viewer/doc 2.3.1 and msdoc-viewer 0.2.2, the legacy DOC renderer emitted document-controlled hyperlink targets into generated HTML after character escaping but without restricting URL schemes. A crafted legacy DOC file could place javascript:, vbscript:, data:, or another unsafe scheme in a rendered link, and script could execute in the embedding application's origin when a user clicked the link. The fix blocks external document links by default, allows only HTTP(S), mail, telephone, safe relative URLs, and internal bookmarks when external links are explicitly enabled, and applies mount-boundary sanitization as defense in depth. This issue is fixed in @file-viewer/doc 2.3.1 and msdoc-viewer 0.2.2.

  • Sep 18, 2026adm-zip is a JavaScript library for creating and extracting ZIP archives in Node.js.CVE-2026-77301 · Other software · cthackers · reported by GitHubHigh 7.5

adm-zip is a JavaScript library for creating and extracting ZIP archives in Node.js. Prior to 0.6.1, getData() in zipEntry.js trusts an entry's central-directory uncompressed size and allocates output memory before validating that value against the actual compressed data and decompression result. A small crafted ZIP can declare a multi-gigabyte uncompressed size, causing Buffer.alloc and decompression handling to commit excessive resident memory before CRC validation reports an error. Applications that read entries from untrusted archives can therefore be terminated by the operating system or suffer service-wide memory exhaustion. This issue is fixed in version 0.6.1.

  • Sep 17, 2026Grafana OSS and Grafana Enterprise did not safely resolve symbolic links when extracting plugin archives.CVE-2026-15815 · Other software · Grafana · reported by security@grafana.comHigh 8.8

Grafana OSS and Grafana Enterprise did not safely resolve symbolic links when extracting plugin archives. A crafted plugin archive can chain relative symbolic link entries to escape the plugin installation directory, writing arbitrary files and an executable backend binary outside that directory. The dropped executable runs with the privileges of the Grafana server process, resulting in remote code execution. Plugin archives are extracted before their signature is verified, so a valid plugin signature does not prevent the write. An operator can therefore be affected by installing a plugin that appears legitimate, as well as by installing a plugin from an arbitrary archive using grafana-cli, the GF_INSTALL_PLUGINS environment variable, or preinstall configuration. Grafana Enterprise is affected because it includes the same plugin extraction code as Grafana OSS.

  • Sep 16, 2026Junrar is an open source Java RAR archive library.CVE-2026-86071 · Other software · junrar · reported by GitHubLow 3.7

Junrar is an open source Java RAR archive library. Prior to version 7.6.1, LocalFolderExtractor in src/main/java/com/github/junrar/LocalFolderExtractor.java can create directories outside the intended extraction root when processing a crafted archive entry. LocalFolderExtractor.createFile() validates only the final canonical file path, while LocalFolderExtractor.makeFile() creates intermediate path segments with unchecked mkdir() calls. An entry can therefore make the final path resolve inside the destination while causing intermediate directory creation outside it, enabling filesystem pollution or file-versus-directory squatting that can make later security-sensitive writes fail. The demonstrated impact is directory creation, not unconditional arbitrary file-content write. This issue is fixed in version 7.6.1.

  • Sep 9, 2026Pandora contains a path traversal vulnerability in its archive extraction worker.CVE-2026-88069 · Other software · pandora-analysis · reported by 5a6e4751-2f3f-4070-9419-94fb35b644e8Critical 9.3

Pandora contains a path traversal vulnerability in its archive extraction worker. When processing a specially crafted archive or disk image, attacker-controlled file paths could be used without ensuring that the resulting destination remained within the intended extraction directory. An attacker able to submit a malicious file for analysis could use path traversal sequences or crafted paths to cause extracted content to be written outside the designated extraction directory, potentially overwriting files accessible to the Pandora worker process. Successful exploitation could result in unauthorized modification of application or system files, denial of service, and potentially further compromise depending on the permissions of the Pandora process and the files that can be overwritten. The vulnerability is addressed by resolving each extraction destination path before writing and verifying that it remains below the expected extraction directory. Extraction attempts resolving outside this directory are rejected and reported as path traversal attempts.

  • Sep 2, 2026async-tar is a tar archive reading/writing library for async Rust.CVE-2026-53600 · Other software · dignifiedquire · reported by GitHubMedium 6.3

async-tar is a tar archive reading/writing library for async Rust. Prior to version 0.6.1, async-tar mis-applies a buffered PAX size extension to an intermediary extension header (a GNU longname L, a GNU longlink K, or a PAX x/g header) instead of to the next file entry. POSIX requires a PAX extended-header record set to describe the next file entry, never an intervening extension header. Because poll_next_raw (src/archive.rs) threads the buffered PAX records into the size computation of whatever raw header it reads next — and that header can be an intermediary L — the stream cursor is advanced by an attacker-chosen amount when the L body is consumed. The parser then desyncs relative to a POSIX-correct tar parser (e.g. GNU tar), reading subsequent bytes at the wrong block boundary. This issue has been patched in version 0.6.1.

  • Aug 26, 2026LeafWiki extracts an uploaded ZIP archive without limiting how much data it will write.CVE-2026-80189 · Other software · perber · reported by VulnCheckHigh 7.1

LeafWiki extracts an uploaded ZIP archive without limiting how much data it will write. ZipExtractor.ExtractToDir in internal/importer/zip_extractor.go opens each entry and copies it to the destination with io.Copy, which runs to the end of the decompressed stream, so only the size of the uploaded archive is bounded and the size it expands to is not. The import route that reaches this code requires the Editor or Admin role, and the upload itself is capped at 500 MiB compressed. Because a ZIP entry can compress at a very high ratio, an archive well inside that cap can expand to hundreds of gigabytes as it is written out. The extraction directory defaults to a location under the operating system temporary directory, so the written data consumes the disk backing that path, which on a tmpfs-backed temporary directory is memory. A user holding the Editor role can therefore exhaust the storage the service depends on and keep it from serving, using far more resource than the upload limit alone would permit.

  • Aug 25, 2026rclone versions >= v1.72.0 and <= v1.74.4 (fixed in v1.75.0) contain multiple denial-of-service vulnerabilities in the archive backend's SquashFS parser, which CVE-2026-79775 · Other software · rclone · reported by VulnCheckHigh 7.1

rclone versions >= v1.72.0 and <= v1.74.4 (fixed in v1.75.0) contain multiple denial-of-service vulnerabilities in the archive backend's SquashFS parser, which relies on the github.com/diskfs/go-diskfs dependency. The parser fails to validate attacker-controlled superblock and metadata values before use. An attacker who can place or modify a SquashFS image in storage exposed through an rclone :archive: remote can craft a malicious image that triggers an integer division-by-zero panic (zero block size), an out-of-bounds slice panic (out-of-range inode metadata offset), or a non-progress CPU loop (truncated metadata stream). Variants 1 and 2 terminate the rclone process and, via 'rclone serve sftp', can crash the entire SFTP server; variant 3 causes sustained CPU consumption. Parsing is lazy, so a victim or remote client must address or descend into the malicious archive object to trigger it.

  • Aug 24, 2026A path traversal vulnerability was found in AWX's project archive extraction.CVE-2026-71364 · Other software · Red Hat · reported by Red HatHigh 7.2

A path traversal vulnerability was found in AWX's project archive extraction. The project_archive action plugin extracts zip and tar archive members by joining the project directory path with the member filename without performing path normalization, boundary validation, or rejecting directory traversal sequences. A malicious archive containing members with path traversal components can write files to arbitrary locations on the execution node's filesystem outside the intended project directory. An attacker who controls the archive content, either through a compromised upstream source, a malicious archive URL, or a man-in-the-middle attack on a plain HTTP connection, can achieve arbitrary file writes as the user performing the extraction, potentially leading to remote code execution through mechanisms such as cron files, SSH authorized keys, or playbook content injection.

  • Aug 20, 2026LinkAce is a self-hosted archive to collect website links.CVE-2026-49436 · Other software · Kovah · reported by GitHubHigh 7.3

LinkAce is a self-hosted archive to collect website links. Prior to version 2.5.7, the Bulk Link API endpoint (`POST /api/v2/bulk/links`) accepts URLs without any format validation, allowing an authenticated user to store a `javascript:` URI. The stored URI is later rendered verbatim as an `href` in Blade templates, and clicking it executes arbitrary JavaScript in the victim's browser — exfiltrating cookies and session tokens. Version 2.5.7 fixes the issue.

  • Aug 19, 2026In versions below 3.8.5 of the Phantom app for Splunk SOAR, a user who holds a role with permission to run actions could expose a sensitive archive password by CVE-2026-76382 · Other software · Splunk · reported by psirt@cisco.comMedium 4.3

In versions below 3.8.5 of the Phantom app for Splunk SOAR, a user who holds a role with permission to run actions could expose a sensitive archive password by invoking the deflate item action, because the action's password parameter is not masked and is shown in cleartext in the user interface. The information disclosure is possible because the app does not mark the affected action parameter as a password. In Splunk SOAR versions below 8.6.0, a user who holds the Administrator role could use path traversal in the Universal Forwarder installer's archive extraction to write files outside the intended installation directory. OpenEMR before 8.3.0 contains a path traversal vulnerability in the EDI archive restore function. The archrestore_sel POST parameter is passed to the archive restore handler without sanitization for path traversal sequences. The handler checks whether the supplied path exists on the filesystem, and the differing response messages leak whether the target path exists. An authenticated user with EOB Data Entry permissions can probe arbitrary filesystem paths on the server to determine file existence.

  • Aug 18, 2026The tar extraction routines in moby/go-archive (Unpack, UnpackLayer, Untar/UntarUncompressed, and the ApplyLayer helpers) do not confine filesystem operations tCVE-2026-17106 · Other software · moby · reported by security@docker.comHigh 7.1

The tar extraction routines in moby/go-archive (Unpack, UnpackLayer, Untar/UntarUncompressed, and the ApplyLayer helpers) do not confine filesystem operations to the destination directory. The extractor decides where each archive entry lands using lexical string checks and then performs the filesystem operation on a path that is resolved by the OS, so links introduced by the archive can be followed out of the destination directory. An attacker who controls the contents of an archive can create or overwrite files at arbitrary paths writable by the extracting process.
