In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: i2c: designware: use casting of u64 in clock multiplication to avoid overflow In functions i2c_dw_scl_lcnt() and i2c_dw_scl_hcnt() may have overflow by depending on the values of the given parameters including the ic_clk. For example in our use case where ic_clk is larger than one million, multiplication of ic_clk * 4700 will result in 32 bit overflow. Add cast of u64 to the calculation to avoid multiplication overflow, and use the corresponding define for divide.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dm-integrity: Avoid divide by zero in table status in Inline mode In Inline mode, the journal is unused, and journal_sectors is zero. Calculating the journal watermark requires dividing by journal_sectors, which should be done only if the journal is configured. Otherwise, a simple table query (dmsetup table) can cause OOPS. This bug did not show on some systems, perhaps only due to compiler optimization. On my 32-bit testing machine, this reliably crashes with the following: : Oops: divide error: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP : CPU: 0 UID: 0 PID: 2450 Comm: dmsetup Not tainted 6.14.0-rc2+ #959 : EIP: dm_integrity_status+0x2f8/0xab0 [dm_integrity] ...

  • Mar 12, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: avoid holding freeze_mutex during mmap operation We use map->freeze_mutex to prevent CVE-2025-21853 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Medium 5.5

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: avoid holding freeze_mutex during mmap operation We use map->freeze_mutex to prevent races between map_freeze() and memory mapping BPF map contents with writable permissions. The way we naively do this means we'll hold freeze_mutex for entire duration of all the mm and VMA manipulations, which is completely unnecessary. This can potentially also lead to deadlocks, as reported by syzbot in [0]. So, instead, hold freeze_mutex only during writeability checks, bump (proactively) "write active" count for the map, unlock the mutex and proceed with mmap logic. And only if something went wrong during mmap logic, then undo that "write active" counter increment. [0] https://lore.kernel.org/bpf/678dcbc9.050a0220.303755.0066.GAE@google.com/

  • Mar 6, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: PCI: Avoid putting some root ports into D3 on TUXEDO Sirius Gen1 commit 9d26d3a8f1b0 ("PCICVE-2025-21831 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Medium 5.5

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: PCI: Avoid putting some root ports into D3 on TUXEDO Sirius Gen1 commit 9d26d3a8f1b0 ("PCI: Put PCIe ports into D3 during suspend") sets the policy that all PCIe ports are allowed to use D3. When the system is suspended if the port is not power manageable by the platform and won't be used for wakeup via a PME this sets up the policy for these ports to go into D3hot. This policy generally makes sense from an OSPM perspective but it leads to problems with wakeup from suspend on the TUXEDO Sirius 16 Gen 1 with a specific old BIOS. This manifests as a system hang. On the affected Device + BIOS combination, add a quirk for the root port of the problematic controller to ensure that these root ports are not put into D3hot at suspend. This patch is based on https://lore.kernel.org/linux-pci/20230708214457.1229-2-mario.limonciello@amd.com but with the added condition both in the documentation and in the code to apply only to the TUXEDO Sirius 16 Gen 1 with a specific old BIOS and only the affected root ports.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: clocksource: Use migrate_disable() to avoid calling get_random_u32() in atomic context The following bug report happened with a PREEMPT_RT kernel: BUG: sleeping function called from invalid context at kernel/locking/spinlock_rt.c:48 in_atomic(): 1, irqs_disabled(): 0, non_block: 0, pid: 2012, name: kwatchdog preempt_count: 1, expected: 0 RCU nest depth: 0, expected: 0 get_random_u32+0x4f/0x110 clocksource_verify_choose_cpus+0xab/0x1a0 clocksource_verify_percpu.part.0+0x6b/0x330 clocksource_watchdog_kthread+0x193/0x1a0 It is due to the fact that clocksource_verify_choose_cpus() is invoked with preemption disabled. This function invokes get_random_u32() to obtain random numbers for choosing CPUs. The batched_entropy_32 local lock and/or the base_crng.lock spinlock in driver/char/random.c will be acquired during the call. In PREEMPT_RT kernel, they are both sleeping locks and so cannot be acquired in atomic context. Fix this problem by using migrate_disable() to allow smp_processor_id() to be reliably used without introducing atomic context. preempt_disable() is then called after clocksource_ver

  • Feb 26, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: soc: qcom: socinfo: Avoid out of bounds read of serial number On MSM8916 devices, the seriCVE-2024-58007 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.1

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: soc: qcom: socinfo: Avoid out of bounds read of serial number On MSM8916 devices, the serial number exposed in sysfs is constant and does not change across individual devices. It's always: db410c:/sys/devices/soc0$ cat serial_number 2644893864 The firmware used on MSM8916 exposes SOCINFO_VERSION(0, 8), which does not have support for the serial_num field in the socinfo struct. There is an existing check to avoid exposing the serial number in that case, but it's not correct: When checking the item_size returned by SMEM, we need to make sure the *end* of the serial_num is within bounds, instead of comparing with the *start* offset. The serial_number currently exposed on MSM8916 devices is just an out of bounds read of whatever comes after the socinfo struct in SMEM. Fix this by changing offsetof() to offsetofend(), so that the size of the field is also taken into account.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ext4: avoid cycles in directory h-tree A maliciously corrupted filesystem can contain cycles in the h-tree stored inside a directory. That can easily lead to the kernel corrupting tree nodes that were already verified under its hands while doing a node split and consequently accessing unallocated memory. Fix the problem by verifying traversed block numbers are unique.

  • Feb 26, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bcache: avoid journal no-space deadlock by reserving 1 journal bucket The journal no-spaceCVE-2022-49327 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Medium 5.5

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bcache: avoid journal no-space deadlock by reserving 1 journal bucket The journal no-space deadlock was reported time to time. Such deadlock can happen in the following situation. When all journal buckets are fully filled by active jset with heavy write I/O load, the cache set registration (after a reboot) will load all active jsets and inserting them into the btree again (which is called journal replay). If a journaled bkey is inserted into a btree node and results btree node split, new journal request might be triggered. For example, the btree grows one more level after the node split, then the root node record in cache device super block will be upgrade by bch_journal_meta() from bch_btree_set_root(). But there is no space in journal buckets, the journal replay has to wait for new journal bucket to be reclaimed after at least one journal bucket replayed. This is one example that how the journal no-space deadlock happens. The solution to avoid the deadlock is to reserve 1 journal bucket in run time, and only permit the reserved journal bucket to be used during cache set registration procedure for things like

  • Feb 26, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mmmremap.c: avoid pointless invalidate_range_start/end on mremap(old_size=0) If an mremap(CVE-2022-49077 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Medium 5.5

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mmmremap.c: avoid pointless invalidate_range_start/end on mremap(old_size=0) If an mremap() syscall with old_size=0 ends up in move_page_tables(), it will call invalidate_range_start()/invalidate_range_end() unnecessarily, i.e. with an empty range. This causes a WARN in KVM's mmu_notifier. In the past, empty ranges have been diagnosed to be off-by-one bugs, hence the WARNing. Given the low (so far) number of unique reports, the benefits of detecting more buggy callers seem to outweigh the cost of having to fix cases such as this one, where userspace is doing something silly. In this particular case, an early return from move_page_tables() is enough to fix the issue.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: powerpc/set_memory: Avoid spinlock recursion in change_page_attr() Commit 1f9ad21c3b38 ("powerpc/mm: Implement set_memory() routines") included a spin_lock() to change_page_attr() in order to safely perform the three step operations. But then commit 9f7853d7609d ("powerpc/mm: Fix set_memory_*() against concurrent accesses") modify it to use pte_update() and do the operation safely against concurrent access. Where this comes from: the exploited list is CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Everything else is the whole National Vulnerability Database, where each record is published by the team that found the bug (Wordfence, Patchstack, WPScan, the vendors themselves and others); we show who. Exploit odds are FIRST’s EPSS, updated daily. Titles and categories are ours, so check the linked record before acting on a detail. For a write-up of the big ones, see our advisories.
